Re: [BlindHandyMan] using an air nailer and an air compressor
That is a good routine for compressor maintenance. I don't drain it every time I use it, but that is sure better than never doing it. Leaving the condensation in the compressor will let the level of water rise until it begins to mix with the compressed air and eventually the tools will begin to corrode inside. If you have ever looked at a body shop, the compressor there will have a series of water separators built into the lines. Starting at the compressor and depending on the amount of trouble they have with moisture, there may be one at each work station. Certainly inside the spray booth. - Original Message - From: Agent086b To: blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, May 09, 2010 6:45 PM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] using an air nailer and an air compressor Hi, do I take it you don't drain the condensation out of the compressor? I do have a filter in the line about 2meters after the Gage to try and lower the amount of moisture getting to the tools. do you leave the valve open after draining the tank, or do you re tighten it after the tank has drained? Re: [BlindHandyMan] using an air nailer and an air compressor
At some point a couple of years ago I turned my compressor over and shot a bunch of oil into the bottom of the tank and rolled it about because I am not so fastidious about draining the water out. Of course I get some oil when I do drain the water but I thought it might help protect a little against rust-out. As for pressure, when mine is on it is generally set full blast. I don't presently have a framing nailer or anything that powerful but I figure if depth setting doesn't do the job I can always reduce the pressure when nails come through and threaten the neighbours dog. . Re: [BlindHandyMan] using an air nailer and an air compressor
Using an air nailer is easy for the blind user. But you will need sighted help for setting up the pressure and a inline regulator. Leaving your air compressor set at maximum pressure. With sighted help you will need to set up the inline regulator. You will need a way to label the online regulator. It would be handy to have an inline regulator for each air tool, solving the problem of changing the pressure for each tool. Some nailers need to be adjusted according the hardness of the wood and the depth of the nail. After getting the inline regulator set to the middle range, use trial and error on scralp until desired results. Re: [BlindHandyMan] using an air nailer and an air compressor
I have one for roofing, one for framing, 2 palm nailers and a brad and stapler. The pressure range for most is between 70 and 120 so you have a lot of range to play in. Basically you can have a sighted friend set your output on the compressor one time and it should stay there. Some people seem to have problems with a palm nailer, but I can look right at a welder when I run it and not see the light from the arc. So yes, a total can work a nailer. - Original Message - From: Blaine Deutscher To: blindhandyman@yahoogroups.com Sent: Friday, May 07, 2010 6:17 PM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] using an air nailer and an air compressor Hello there.
