[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Trancoding resources on CUBE
Earlier this week, I began Vol 2 Lab 1. In this lab, I configured transcoding resources on the CUBE. These resources were registered to the gateway itself, under telephony-service. I was messing around on a router this morning and found something confusing. If I define "maximum sessions" under the dspfarm profile as well as "sdspfarm transcode sessions" under "telephony-service," the values seem to be considered independent of each other. I defined 45 maximum sessions on the dspfarm profile. Hower, when I run a "show sdspfarm units," I get a total of 90 max-streams. The two commands appear to be summed up in this command. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] No More OEQs on RS and Voice Lab Exams
Hi Vik: So in your opinion, troubleshooting will gain weight in the lab section, but not so far as in RS in wich you have separate troubleshooting section Thanks Date: Thu, 6 May 2010 11:32:56 -0700 From: vma...@ipexpert.com To: siddas...@gmail.com; tanner.ez...@gmail.com CC: ccie...@onlinestudylist.com; ccie_voice@onlinestudylist.com Subject: Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] No More OEQs on RS and Voice Lab Exams I think the intention of what they originally set out to do was honest and fair. 10% (roughly) of the candidates sitting the voice lab were scoring 100% (or thereabouts) in half the time. Nobody should be able to perform to that level unless they see a repeat lab (3rd/4th attempt). So an additional check was required to protect the integrity of the certification. That much I’m sure we can all agree on (or at least 90% of us:-) They tried something and it failed to achieve the desired goal. That’s not the first time that has happened in life. Well done to the 360 team for not being so stubborn to pursue something that didn’t work out. The people that have suffered are the ones that prepared thoroughly and honestly and were clearly at the level that they deserved to pass but couldn’t remember a RFC # or couldn’t remember where xxx feature was on the GUI. The weighting for something so random was too much- it was too hit and miss. It would be better to have 100 OEQ’s and tell candidates you need 75 correct answers to reduce the randomness- but that’s not feasible on the same day of the lab. Life may well get more difficult now- inherent troubleshooting is being deemed a superior test of core knowledge than OEQ. The things they are going to ask you will most likely be more difficult to answer correctly and will require the same if not more core knowledge. On the flip side it won’t be closed book, you can be figure things out if you get stuck- something that was not possible on the OEQ section. Does that mean IPX customers are now going to ask us for troubleshooting sections in the WB? Probably. It would have been much better that OEQs were part of the same lab section and have some points like any other section of the lab..if you answer all four question right, you would get 5 points, if you answer 3 right you would get 3 points and for correct answers 2 or less you would get 0 points..something like that...instead of giving all the importance to OEQs that if a person did well in the lab of 7.5 hrs and eventually passing that section but would fail just because he answered 2 questions incorrectly!! (even thou I agree that if you are well prepared you can answer all four questions but sometimes due to pressure and environment a little silly mistake is enough to book another attempt) _ Hotmail: Powerful Free email with security by Microsoft. https://signup.live.com/signup.aspx?id=60969___ For more information regarding industry leading CCIE Lab training, please visit www.ipexpert.com
Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Trancoding resources on CUBE
I think the number 90 was not b/c 45 (dspfarm) + 45 (sdspfarm), you had a value of 90 because each transcoder session consists of two transcoding streams between callers using transcode. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Switch QoS - Vol.2 Lab 8 Q5.3
Hi Segio Yes it is confusing isn't it. The columns represent the number of packets per dscp value. As an example there are 133518 packets in the best effort class (dscp 0) and 34243 packets marked with dscp 24. There are also 40177 voice packets, dscp value 46. Bo - You're right. I changed the max sessions value from 45 to 2. This is the new output from my show sdspfarm units: mtp-1 Device:RTR-XCODE TCP socket:[1] REGISTERED in SCCP ver 17/10 actual_stream:4 max_stream 4 IP:192.168.99.1 57105 MTP Dixieland keepalive 0 Supported codec: G711Ulaw G711Alaw G729 G729a G729ab max-mtps:1, max-streams:90, alloc-streams:4, act-streams:0 Two values to point out: MAX-STREAMS remains the same. This is the number of sdspfarm transcode sessions I specified under telephony-service. You're right, in that xocde/mtp resources are counted as multiples of two. Since I stated 45 sessions, it lists 90 streams. ALLOC-STREAMS reflects the max-sessions listed under the dspfarm profile section of my configuration. Since I entered 2 sessions, it displays 4 streams (again, multiples of two). What I need pay attention to is SESSIONS versus STREAMS. Lastly, what the heck is MTP Dixieland? Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] No More OEQs on RS and Voice Lab Exams
Now is Official: http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/ccie/voice/lab_exam.html Update to the CCIE Lab Question Format Beginning May 10, 2010, CCIE Voice lab exams in all global locations will no longer include the four, open-ended Core Knowledge questions. The total lab exam time will remain eight hours. CCIE Voice candidates will have the full 8 hours to complete the integrated exam. (even thou I agree that if you are well prepared you can answer all four questions but sometimes due to pressure and environment a little silly mistake is enough to book another attempt) Hotmail: Powerful Free email with security by Microsoft. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Problem in LAB 4.3 A vol 1
Do a show isdn status. If you don't see MULTIPLE_FRAME_ESTABLISHED state under Layer 2 Status, then do a no isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager command under interface Serial0/0/0:23, wait a few seconds, then put the bind-l3 command back. I find this usually works (much faster than reloading the router). cheers, sd From: ccie_voice-boun...@onlinestudylist.com [mailto:ccie_voice-boun...@onlinestudylist.com] On Behalf Of amr gaber Sent: Friday, May 07, 2010 4:42 PM To: ccie_voice@onlinestudylist.com Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Problem in LAB 4.3 A vol 1 Dear, in this lab section we should add BR1-RTR as an MGCP gateway. If you reset the gateway and no mgcp, mgcp and still face the problem, reload the router.
