Hi
I'm setting up a switch, router and phones and the proctorlabs racks. I plan
on using 7960 phones because they are cheaper

Is there any reason to get  7961's? I'm just keeping the cost down

Thanks

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] GK failover call display

2011-06-28 Thread ShinGei Yong
What Alex describe is one of the reason that the "+" sign doesn't appear due
to the H323 native behavior.

Another reason is the GW ios version and the phone load. You may refer to
the below link on why proctor lab PSTN can display the "+" sign.
http://onlinestudylist.com/archives/ccie_voice/2010-March/066917.html

For your CME question, do a debug on isdn and ccapi inout, to confirm that
the number send by PSTN.
If the "+" doesn't tag along with the ANI, then you probably need to do what
Alex has mentioned earlier.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] GK failover call display

2011-06-28 Thread Adil Shaikh
Hi Alex,

thanks for this.

In AAR situation, when forwarding call comes in it shows the forwrding
number with + sign.

On procotor lab's PSTN phone which is CME phone also displays + sign. I
looked at proctorlab's PSTN-WAN config and i did not find any specific fix
they have done to display the calling party's + on the phone.
Proctorlab's PSTN-WAN ios is Version 12.4(15)T8.
While CME (BR2) site ios is Version 12.4(22)T1
and H323gw (BR1) site ios is Version 12.4(20)T1 <>

On CME, how do you fix the + for incoming callerid if the call comes in from
PSTN?

thanks

Hi Adil,

It is normal or expected behaviour where + sign will not be able to pass to
h323 gateway, u will to prefix using translation-rule on h323 gateway or
configured incoming prefix on cucm

from the CUCM Help page you will see this

SIP and MGCP gateways can support sending the international escape
character, +, for calls. H.323 gateways do not support the +

Hi Randall

If I'm not wrong, 7961 and 7941 series support the + dialing from call list,
which probably you need it to practice the globalization/localization call
routing.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] MLS QoS issue

2011-06-28 Thread Bill Lake
Your original configuration did not have a native vlan command maybe
the voice vlan does not work if there is no native vlan active. Not
able to lab test to prove this but perhaps you could remove the
trunking commands and use switchport access vlan 1

Also remember that switchport mode access/switchport access vlan
x/switchport voice vlan x does not work all the time on HWIC modules
like the HWIC-4ESW

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] GK failover call display

2011-06-28 Thread Adil Shaikh
Hi all,

I have configured route list with 1st choice as gatekeeper and 2nd choice as
local PSTN.
When I shut down the Gatekeeper, the call goes out from PSTN and back into
branch gateway via PSTN as expected.

debug isdn q931 shows the 'Calling Party Number' in +E164 format but the
phone display calling party number without plus. The phone is 7965.

Is this what you are getting on your phone? Is this normal behaviour?

One branch site is H323 and other is CME.

Thanks

That did it, but shouldn't the command "switchport voice vlan XXX" create a
pseudo trunk?

This config showed dscp EF packets wireshark.

interface FastEthernet0/3
 switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
 switchport mode trunk
 switchport voice vlan 10
 mls qos trust dscp

Try changing the mode to trunking. 802.1p priority bits are carried via the
dot1q trunk header. If you do not have a trunk or psuedo trunk to the
phone, you will not get the COS bits, therefore you will not get the mapped

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUE NTP synchronisation with HQ Router Loopback 0

2011-06-28 Thread Randall Saborio
Cristobal, your statement is not correct. You don't need "ntp master".
Please try to make advice that you are sure of. Else it creates confusion
for the newcomers.

Have you read the explanation for that command on any of the "command
reference guides".

For the lazy people:

Because the Cisco implementation of NTP does not support directly attached
radio or atomic clocks, the router is normally synchronized, directly or
indirectly, to an external system that has such a clock. In a network
without Internet connectivity, such a time source may not be available. The
*ntp master* command is used in such cases.

If the system has *ntp master* configured, and it cannot reach any clock
with a lower stratum number, the system will claim to be synchronized at the
configured stratum number, and other systems will be willing to synchronize
to it via NTP.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] ip pim dense mode

2011-06-28 Thread Peterson, Ryan
you would not want that command. it wouldnt matter if you had it since you
would have had to enable multicast routing, but if you accidently did that,
then the user could hear both CUCM and flash audio streams on their phone at
the same time.

You would however need it if you were sourcing MOH from CUCM as multicast and
trying to hop a layer 3 boundry.

Of course, Im not a big fan of using multicast routing in dense mode (in
production). Id probably setup RPs and Sparse mode.

the setup of the user inputs. In CUCM, I have created a CTI route point with DN

phone in CUCM calls 5000, it goes to the voice mail greeting of the user “AA”,
instead of presenting the user options. I also noticed that the CTI route
point in CUCM doesn’t registered to anything, but I am not sure whether that is
the cause of this problem. Please point me the right direction? Cheers

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Setting up AA in Unity Connection

2011-06-28 Thread Peterson, Ryan
looks like you got it right then.

if you are hearing a prompt that the user is unavailable, it is because you
havent recorded a custom prompt and CUC is giving you a made up one. I assume
you do not have an actual user named AA.

Attempt to use your caller inputs now and see whay happens.

The CTI is fine, but you could have just created a DN And forwarded all to VM.

you need the ntp master command on the router with the proper stratum set
otherwise when you go through the cue initialization and you enter the
router's loopback it;s going to say not reachable and is going to ask for a
different ntp server

Originally, I had a computer running VM Server and an Athlon processor.
I've had tons of problems from not being able to start voice media service
and CTIManager service crashing everytime I try to use CUPS. So I would
highly recommend getting an actual server that can run ESXi.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CME octo line functionality

2011-06-28 Thread cisco cisco
Hi,

For my understanding/testing the eight channels of an octo-line are shared
between each ephone using them.
This must be taken in consideration while considering
max-calls-per-button,busy-trigger-per-button and huntstop channel.

Making an example :

ephone-dn 7 octo-line
 number 3011
 huntstop channel 4

ephone 3
 mac-address ..0002
 busy-trigger-per-button 2
 Max-calls-per-button 5
 button 1:7

ephone 4
 mac-address ..0001
 busy-trigger-per-button 2
 Max-calls-per-button 4
 button 1:7

This will cause the following :

-Huntstop channel 4 will limit the number of channels used for INCOMING
calls for the ephone-dn 7 to 4 reserving the remaining 4 for outgoing
calls/transfers
-Users calling the ephone 3 will get a busy tone when 2 channels are used on
the ephone-dn 7 no matter where these channels are used, so it will get busy
if ephone 3 has two calls active, or ephone 4 has two calls or one call is
active on the ephone 3 and one on ephone 4
-Ephone 3 can use a maximum of 5 contemporary channels of ephone-dn 7.This
means that If no calls are active on the ephone 4 the ephone 3 will be
allowed to use all the 5 channels as long as they are not all incoming calls
as for the huntstop channel requirement which limits them to 4.But if two
calls are active on the ephone 4 , the ephone 3 will have the chance to use
only three further channels.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUE NTP synchronisation with HQ Router Loopback 0

2011-06-28 Thread Peterson, Ryan
I did this today and had no issues. I did not need the ntp master command.

I did however experience the issues:

could ping CUE from my HQ router, could not ping HQ router from within CUE,
could not get ntp to associate.

oops, int service-engine0/0 was shut. I no shut and was able to ping and use
the ntp of the HQ rtr from CUE.

Good luck!

i've tested this scneario multiple times and connectivity is not an issue

your router could receive time form the pstn: ntp server 10.10.100.2
and if you want it to provide clocking to your netowrk devices you must make
that router an ntp master, issue the show ntp associations command to check the
stratum of the pstn clock and make the router an ntp master 7 or whatever

otherwise CUE will ignore an NTP source that is not the service-engine ip
address

I have tested this with routers but not with the CUE module.

Routers will definitely pull their time from a router synced with
another NTP source.
