Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] MGCP Auto vs Manual configuration

2013-04-28 Thread Suresh Bhandari
Regarding your question about busyout channels in CUCM, you will use the
MGCP gateway address as appeared in your CUCM gateway page and busyout
channels using 1.

You can find a good example by clicking the parameter.
For your reference, for say your SA site, the SP Change B-Channel
Maintenance Status 1 will be S0/SU0/DS1-0@*SA-RTR* = 0011
  to busyout channels 7-23.

Notice the boldface text that represents your gateway.

Further, you have to check Enable status Poll in your gateway page.

Hope this helps.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] SIP Delay Vs Early Offer

2013-04-28 Thread Suresh Bhandari
If your SIP Invite message is containing media information, it is an early
offer. If the response OK message has media, then it is delayed offer.

I prefer checking Content-Length field to find out if its an Early or
Delayed offer. Value of 0 mean Delayed offer, non-zero value means it is
including SDP message and so its an early offer.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] MGCP Auto vs Manual configuration

2013-04-28 Thread Suresh Bhandari
I believe that when you configure fractional PRI from IOS, and if you have
to expand the channels later, you have to reconfigure mgcp... that is you
have to shut your voice port, controller, bind-l3 command in the D-channel
etc

On the other hand, if you have busy out the channels from the UCM, you can
simply change the channels to required numbers, and save the service
parameter.

Please update if there are other, must be there, benefits.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] SIP Delay Vs Early Offer

2013-04-28 Thread Robert Thomas
The description is not entirely correct.

Delayed Offer: The UAC SDP is relayed on the ACK Message

INVITE -
100 Trying -
200OK - With SDP
ACK - With SDP

Early Offer

INVITE - With SDP
100 Trying -
200OK - With SDP
ACK -

The SDP is moved from the ACK to the INVITE, This is why is Early Offer.

The 200OK should always contain SDP from the UAS. Only Exception might be
when the SDP is sent on a provisional 1XX Message, like a 180 Ringing or
183 Session Progress.

In that case is refered to as Early Media instead of early offer.

So saying on delayed offer the SDP is on the 200OK, is incorrect since,
both scenarios have SDP on the 200OK, The difference is the variation
between the INVITE and the ACK.

This link has further description.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] SIP Delay Vs Early Offer

2013-04-28 Thread Suresh Bhandari
Thanks Robert. I missed that portion.

On Sun, Apr 28, 2013 at 7:56 PM, Robert Thomas tho...@gmail.com wrote:

If your SIP Invite message is containing media information, it is an

I prefer checking Content-Length field to find out if its an Early
or Delayed offer. Value of 0 mean Delayed offer, non-zero value means it
 is
including SDP message and so its an early offer.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Buying home lab or Waiting for Cisco Live in June

2013-04-28 Thread Robert Thomas
Hi,

I'm thinking on buying a home lab to start my studies.
It would run around 3K investment according to my amazon shopping list.

However I'm thinking to wait for June and Cisco Live for announcement about
the new version.

I don't expect major changes on the setup, perhaps some new phone models
like 99XX, or 89XX on the phones. And upgrade to the routers 29XX.

However I don't expect major new features from the 29XX roll out on the
exam.

I would appreciate your opinions on this.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Buying home lab or Waiting for Cisco Live in June

2013-04-28 Thread Bill
If they announce a new version in June you will have about 6 months from then
to pass your lab.

My recommendation from there is if you have plenty of study/lab time then go
for it. If you don't and have to squeeze it in then you might be better off
waiting to see.

My thought is that 600 to 1200 hours of lab time is needed, more if you spread
it out and less if you can focus solely on Cisco voice stuff.

Dear Experts,

I'd like to add contacts to CUPC Client.
However i go to https://CUPSSERVERIP/ccmuser
I login with HQ2 and SB2 first it gives me hard time to login
sometimes it logins right away sometimes gives me an error and then i go
back its logined.

The most important thing is when I am succesfully logged in
when I go to any other page such as Preferences , Contacts or etc.
I get User is not authorized to access this page

Knowing that in CUCM user has the CCM Super Users , Standard CTI Enabled ,
Standard AXL API access , ALLO CONTROL from CTI Devices and Standard CCM
USER.

Also , All users are associated to phones as well as the DN's.

What could be the problem then?

Thanks in advance,
