Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CCIE Collaberation

2013-06-06 Thread Ken Wyan
Finally Cisco understood the mistake corrected it before further
complications begin.

One guy passed RS v.2 lab later passed RS v.3 lab finally passed RS
v.4 lab. He is a true expert in RS but not counted as a dual / triple CCIE
for partner status.
Now cisco had to offer dual / triple / quadruple CCIE status for single
track CCIE s as well.
Before things get complicated , luckily Cisco corrected the mistake.

considered less important because your CCIE is on outdated technology, like
CCIE ISP Dial or CCIE SNA/IP integration do you see anyone asking for them

For those that say why not just get dual CCIE with CCIE Collaboration as
it should be easy, name the people who say their CCIE was easy and would

No if I want to get a dual CCIE, I want to earn it in another track, not

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CCIE Collaboration officially announced

2013-05-31 Thread Ken Wyan
There's a serious fault with this new announcement.

We can't say this new blueprint as CCIE Collaboration it should be CCIE
Voice version 4. CCIE Voice track should be allowed to continue with this
new v4 blueprint.

If Cisco want to add another CCIE Collaboration Track they have to add
additional products such as WebEx Server , VCS , Telepresence MSE ,
Telepresence Multipoint Switch , Telepresence Server , Telepresence Manager
, TMS suitable endpoints.

Then current CCIE Voice guys will be more than happy to complete their
Collaboration certification become dual CCIEs. It will be definitely a
career advancement path for them.

If Cisco can call this new blueprint as CCIE Collaboration ; why can't
they call all current voice CCIE's as Collaboration CCIEs.?

Granted we all know that taking any CCIE Written will allow us to
remain CCIE's even if Voice is retired, but I think the frustration is
Voice and Collaboration are not THAT far apart and no matter how you look
at it, it all falls under Cisco Unified Communications, which is what the
name of the new CCIE really should be anyway. The core of the Voice
blueprint is still there. The Collaboration equipment list looks like a
refresh of current products, not a forklift of one technology replacing
 another.

In my opinion this was too harsh of a move to retire Voice and start
over again with Collaboration. There are too many similarities between the
 two.

That seems to be a difficult pill to swallow but it would not be the
first from my reading. Storage had this happen earlier this year as have
several others. See here with the snippet. Now the second is a wiki so we
 would want official confirmation.

Some previously awarded CCIE specializations have been retired by
 Cisco. These are:

   * WAN Switching CCIE (Essentially a specialisation focusing on the
IGX/BPX switch products, which had been acquired as part of the StrataCom
 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StrataCom acquisition)
   * ISP Dial CCIE
   * SNA/IP Integration CCIE (aka CCIE Blue)
   * Design CCIE (NOTE: The CCIE Design and CCDE are completely different
design tests in format and subjects examined)

People who hold these now-retired certifications can remain CCIEs,
provided they continue to take recertification exams. They now hold the
title CCIE, rather than CCIE Security, or some other specialization.

So if we can get official confirmation that we won't be stripped of
CCIE if you pass the voice lab, it might be good, for those of us that have
already passed we don't get a chance to change our minds for those that
have yet to pass, this might be incentive to change your goal.

Hi
CCIEing

Please send an email to supp...@ipexpert.com / supp...@proctorlabs.com or
use chat window from IPExpert.com site during office hours.

Support guys seems using different methods to combine sessions. Sometimes
they extend end time in same session for another time slot. Sometimes they
extend current session upto start of next session in same pod (to avoid
automatic POD initialization in last 15 min).

Sometimes they can successfully extend it in the last hour of session as
well. One time I sent an email ( raised a ticket) few hours before end of
session to extend. Unluckily they responded in last 30 min did extension
, but automated scripts cleared my configs in the middle due to late
extension.

It's good to plan how many sessions we need in advance book early.

IPExpert should have an escalation method if support Engineer doesn't
respond within a reasonable time.

Hi,

There's no such standard way of sending called number by carriers upto
customer isdn gateway router. I have seen some telcos send only extension
number of DID block some carriers send full subscriber or national

Calling Number is usually in e164 format (starting from + sign). But I have
seen some SIP ITSPs send calling number as received from customer without
modifying it.

Sorry if I didn't understand your question correct.

If question ask to use Unity Connection , then use UC Media Master.

From candidate PC open UC media master save your recording.

Now from Candidate PC , open UCCX GUI upload your recorded prompts.

For all other tasks of UCCX , open UCCX GUI from UCCX server ( first RDP to
UCCX server ) -- for best browser compatibility.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] HQ switch question

2012-07-30 Thread Ken Wyan
If you don't use a switch module , a Router doesn't understand vlans.
When you configure encapsulation dot1q 101 under Router sub-interface , it
just add a vlan tag (101) before sending packets out of this interface
incoming packets with same vlan tag is matched for this sub-interface (for
layer 3 processing). Adding a native suffix just matches untagged packets.

The native vlan need not be same for 2 interconnected devices , but if they
don't match CDP may issue a warning everything else works fine.

One interesting thing is , we can bridge 2 vlans by interconnecting two
ports with different native vlans. Cisco don't directly allow vlan bridging
but some other vendor switches do allow we need this sometimes while
migration from other vendor switches.

Well, yes, it look like is working but in the background for HQ router
native vlan is 101 so, untagged traffic is send over vlan 101, on the far

the local switch, in this case 1. That is why everything can work even with
this error, but not recommended following best practices.

Just copied from my router.

policy-map AutoQoS-Policy-Trust
 class AutoQoS-VoIP-RTP-Trust
  priority 90
   compress header ip rtp
 class AutoQoS-VoIP-Control-Trust
  bandwidth 32
 class class-default
  fair-queue

You can see there are 2 statements under
 class AutoQoS-VoIP-RTP-Trust

priority 90 compress header ip rtp.

Starting place of compress keyword is right-shifted from that of priority
command.

What does this mean?

I reordered two statements

class AutoQoS-VoIP-RTP-Trust
   compress header ip rtp
  priority 90

still compress starts right shifted.

Any idea why?

Just one more thing

I think we don't need a specific order of priority compress statements
under same class. ( always this bw refers to post-compressed bw).

Can anybody confirm this?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] UCCX Synchronization Route Point

After configuring UCCX server ( applications with trigger , scripts ,

shows that Route Points (created by UCCX itself corresponding to telephony
triggers in CUCM) have a data inconsistency between CUCM UCCX.

Even we don't check it , there's no problem.

But why does it show like this ?

2012-04-27 Thread Ken Wyan
Your question isn't clear.

For RSVP , we need 2 mtp s (rsvp enabled) at each. They should be in MRGL
of each end device respectively.

Are you going to use CFB as rsvp agent as well?

 all,
just found out and wonder if someone can confirm: unless you place a CFB
in a location (instead of being placed in a location by means of the CFB's
device pool location setting) - RSVP will not be triggered ??

So if I leave the location at the CFB set to hub_none (where it then
should check the device pool's location setting - correct me if I'm wrong),
and with the location on the device pool set to HQ, no RSVP will be
 triggered.
When setting the location on CFB pages to 'HQ' , RSVP will be triggered.

Do you also see this in your labs? thanks for the feedback,

I think we are talking at cross purposes slightly.
wfavvid/system/scripts/defaults is indeed the disk location of the system
scripts repository and wfavvid/user/scripts/defaults [or similar] is the
disk location created when you first upload to the user repository. I am
definately not advocating directly copying anything to the filesystem
 locations.
There are two ways to upload a script into the repository, 1) by saving to
disk and then uploading from the webpage 2) by using the repository link
in the left hand pane when saving from the editor. Option 2 is
functionally equivilent to 1 but quicker. And I can confirm that reactive
debugging works in this scenario (although you do need to refresh the
application that uses the script I think).

But never modify the system scripts, take a copy and save back as a user
 script...

  Hi Ken,

I would like to clarify the behavior for you here.

 1) Automatic Available setting is only available on the Resource (Agent)
Level. Not on the CSQ or in the System Params.
 2) CSQ contains the setting for the Automatic Work and the Timer you can
set for the Work State for the Agents.
 3) The setting in the System Params, Agent State after Ring No Answer*
applies only when there is Ring No Answer, i.e., when the agent does not
answer the call and it determines the state of the Agent if they do not
 answer a call.

So, the features of *Automatic Available* on the Agent level and
 *Automatic
Work* at the CSQ Level go hand in hand. Let me explain:

 Example:

 - Let's say we have a CSQ name Q and agent A is a part of this Q.
 - A call comes to this queue (Q) and agent A answers the call.
 - Now the feature of Automatic Work at the CSQ level and the timer set
with it (IF ENABLED), will set the Agent state to Work for the amount of
Time defined at the CSQ level.
 - After the timer expires, the next state for the Agent will be determined
on the basis of the Automatic Available setting for the agent. If
Automatic Available is set to Enabled at the Resource Level, then after
the Work Timer expires, Agent will go to Ready State. If Automatic
Available is set to Disabled, then after the work timer, the agent will
 go into Not Ready state

NOTE: THE SETTING OF AUTOMATIC WORK AND AUTOMATIC AVAILABLE KICK IN
ONCE THE AGENT HANDLES (Answers) A CALL.

The setting in the System Params kicks in if the Agent DOES NOT answer a
call. I've also attached a couple of screenshots for you here.

 2. Do I need the ntp update-calendar command?

 3. Do I need the configure “ntp source loopback 0” when site b and
c must use the HQ loopback interface as NTP server

At this moment I use the following configuration:

 HQ

 conf t

 ntp x.x.x.x

 ntp master

 ntp calendar-update

 ntp source loopback 0

 clock timezone PST -8

 clock summer-time PST recurring

 SB

 ntp x.x.x.x

 clock time-zone CST -6

 clock summer-time CST recurring

 SC

 ntp x.x.x.x

 clock time-zone HKT 8

 clock summer-time HKT recurring

 Maik

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] IOS NTP

2012-04-25 Thread Ken Wyan
No you don't need.

if you put ntp master , HQ Router won't synchronize with Backbone ntp
server.

I should have told more , but can't because of Cisco NDA.

Thanks

   Ken,

 What about Cisco Callmanager.
Don’t we need ntp master for that?
I see in the ipexpert study books that the command is used.

I lost some point on the lab for the basic configuration (vlan/dhcp/ntp)
I think is was for the ntp. But looks like I did nothing wrong there.

That’s the reason I look for commands that cisco expects.
I know that without the master command everything works fine. But is that
 good enough.

don't use ntp master if this router needs to get time updates from
 another NTP server.

In fact HQ Router don't need ntp master

ntp source is needed for HQ to sync with a priority ntp server. It
doesn't affect time-syncing of SB SC.

Sometimes , our scripts send calls to an agent at the middle of the

In that case should we include an End step right below call-contact

Is it recommended / not recommended to have multiple End steps in a

Ok , Ill answer your question in a better way than your method.

Make a translation pattern of *4001 with mask a new css (say
lab7done )

make a partition lab7done include it in CSS lab7done

create a RP 4001 (in partition lab7done) forward all to voicemail.

No need for e164 numbers in CUE.

 I agree.

But if cisco gives non-voice proctor which test calls to do the expected
result , he can grade voice candidates (without knowing anything in Voice)
(Grading is based on whether your solution works don't look for a
 particular configuration method).

Remaining parts will be done by grading script (search for exact keywords
 in router configuration , etc...)

No re-reads possible no one can challenge the result.

I have a doubt is this hapenning now.

Because a remote person can't make test calls to verify.

The time zone is important. My rack rentals start at 6am EST, lab in RTP

I think it depends on how early you like to get up and how close you are
 to
   each.

RTP Test starts at 7:10. You get a 20 minutes lunch in a conference
 room
and it is catered in and are done by 3:45.
SJ Test starts at 8:30. You get a 40-45 minute lunch in a cafeteria
 with
lots of choices. You are done with the test about 5:05.

Computers are about the same, but you get access to notepad on your
 computer
in RTP but not in SJ.

I felt like the proctor at RTP is more helpful.

Good idea.

Next time Ill ask proctor to help me to make test calls during Lab as we
need 2 people to properly test.

Just kidding...

These proctors make unnecessary sounds next to voice seat disturbing our
test. They put 1 phone in speakerphone mode call from another phone to
verify. They never think that they disturb voice candidate. They are too
lazy to lift handset hear himself only.

But if cisco gives non-voice proctor which test calls to do the expected

(Grading is based on whether your solution works don't look for a

Remaining parts will be done by grading script (search for exact keywords

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Voicemail Service

2012-04-06 Thread Ken Wyan
In proctorlabs CUCM (ver 7.0.1.x) , Voicemail doesn't appear as a
phone service ( device settings Phone Services ) . Even Messages URL is
empty (Entreprise Parameters).

CCIE Exam also use 7.0.1 version , but there we can see voicemail service.

Is this due to a version difference OR voicemail service was pre-deleted in
Proctorlabs CUCM servers? http://10.10.210.10:8080/ccmcip/xmldirectory.jsp

  Joe,

   Your solution is confirmed.

Works great and is much easier and quick!

Also, I must add that I had to leave the external directories url blank
 on the phone else it
shows host not found and the directories header displays..

I am running CUCM System version: 7.0.1.11000-2 not sure if that
 matters or not.

I also confirmed that the order of the listings is determined by the
 aforementioned position
  flag in the insert statement.

Because Intercom is not listed as an Enterprise parameter it doesn't
 fill its 4th position as
it should and Corp directory ends up being 5th instead of 6th as the
 flag indicates.

However, if the intercom service is associated with a phone Corp
Directory is listed 6th as it
  should be.

So in order to change the order, you must remove all the services
 except for voicemail and
re-insert them back in and change the position value to change the order
 in which they are
listed. The insert must be done using the run sql insert statement
from a SSH session to the
server. Inserting manually will not give the desired order and will
 cause services to be listed
  alphabetically.

Thank you so much for your input, it has been very helpful and
 appreciated.

   Hello All,

Basically if what you want to accomplish is restrict a user to have
 access to the Directories
  button and keep the order of the of the Missed Calls/Received Calls etc;
I think that we do not
even have to delete the URLs from the phone services.

What I think would work, is to use on this particular phone where you
 want to restrict the
directories the service provisioning setting as External URL.
If you do this, the IP Phone will try to use the URL configured under
 Enterprise parameters,
by default: If we leave this URL configured
and set the service provisioning to external, the directories will
still show up. So in order
to get the No service configured message, just delete the Directories
 URL from enterprise
  parameters (leave it blank).

By default, the other IP Phones, will still continue using Service
 Provisioning Internal
which means they will get the URLs from their configuration file.

   So, summary:

   1. Set service provisioning to External URL to the phone where you want
 to restrict
  Directories access.
   2. Leave the directories URL from enterprise parameter blank.
   3. Reset the phone.

Thanks to all for the tips/suggestions-

Does uccx automatically create the rmcm application user or do we need to
 manually create it?

I don't remember having to create it in the past. whenever, the uccx was
partially integrated, I used to be able to do the following-

 - go into uccx and create/complete telephony-group and rmcm (resources,
 skills etc.)
 - on UCM, associate users to rmcm application user
 - configure application/trigger etc.

 thanks,

 Hey Baktha,

When you run the Fresh Install setup from UCCX the first time, those users
are created automatically and the CTI Enabled role is also assigned to them
at the same time; no need for manual intervention.

However, the steps i suggested was to bring back the RM Subsystem back in
service on the CCX if it does not automatically.

Let me know if you have more questions.

When CUPC client access voice mail mwi indications , does it use SCCP

I think only one queue service ( equivalent to app-b-acd) is allowed in a

We can define multiple queues under same queue service as below.

service app-b-acd
param aa-hunt1 1000
param aa-hunt2 2000
queue-len 5

ephone-hunt 1
pilot 1000
list 1001 1002

ephone-hunt 2
pilot 2000
list 2001 2002

Actually queue-len 5 refers to what?
Is it for total queued calls under app-b-acd service OR each queue ( 1000
or 2000 ) can have maximum queue-depth or 2 ?

Thank You.

Hi Juan,

I think cisco suggests to directly send call to aa2 from aa1 without
routing through hunt-group (final 200).

following is timer definitions.

param call-retry-timer 15 ;Time interval in which call in queue can
attempt to access available ephone-dns and voice mail.
param second-greeting-time 60 ;Delay before second
greeting is played.
param max-time-call-retry 600 ;Maximum time calls can
wait in queue.
param max-time-vm-retry 2 ;Maximum time calls can
attempt to be transferred to voice mail.

Is this call-retry-timer does the same thing as timeout under ephone-hunt
? Seems replaced by timeout if we configure.

 2) Belgium --- got food voucher, free flow of food for your lunch! It's a

So I would expect that if you are required to preserve cBarge, the words
do not pre-define any ephone or ephone-dn to *not* restrict the learned
ephones/dn's from showing up in the running config. The problem I have with
not creating any pre-defined ephones/dn's is that you must have a
pre-defined ephone-dn for the conference ad-hoc so I'm not sure if this
 question is possible.

 how would you interupt this?

The simplest way is to use srst mode auto-provision none. The issue with
this command is that cBarge during SRST would not work.

So if we use srst mode auto-provision all, the configure in
running-config will be learnt during SRST. would that still consider as
 pre-define?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] srst softkeys

2012-02-22 Thread Ken Wyan
I configured srst ( using telephony-service) .

When phones are in fallback mode Redial softkey is dimmed on 7965 phones.

As per cisco docs , only unsupported softkeys are dimmed in srst mode.

Is this normal or can be any mistake?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Q.931 Translator

2012-02-17 Thread Ken Wyan
Hi,

Using Q.931 Translator , we could translate CUCM trace files to equivalent
IOS ISDN messages.

I couldn't find it in CUCM ver 7. Is it available with CUCM 7 or otherwise
what's the option in this release?
