Hi Guy,

What are you doing up still?

It looks like I just finished a major project a few minutes ago:
printing multi-page, multi-paragraph instant letters.

I hope to wrapup the Survey project tomorrow.

I believe I'm going to bed now.

You might be interested to know that, after 2 appointments with the gen.
practitioner I went to the cardiologist last week (3/15) and he, of
course, scheduled a stress test for last Monday 3/22.  I passed the
test, of course, BUT after the test and after the photo session, while
waiting for them to remove the needles, etc. I had trouble taking a deep
breath - again.  Just like at your party.  So they checked all the test
results before they would release me.  Nothing showed up on the test.
So I had another appointment with him today. They don't know what it is
but it concerns them - more than me. Anyway he gave me a prescription
for Nexum (something for stomach acid) and if it happens again it will
be serious. He wants to do a cauterization -not good. Means a day in the
hospital.  I'll see him again in about a month.  So counting the next
one, starting with that little event at your party has resulted in no
less then 6 doctor's appointments, including the stress test.  And it
may not be over yet.  Anyway I'm feeling fine, no pain so I was back on
the trail doing 2 miles yesterday.  The doc said he knew it wouldn't do
any good to ask me to curtail my walking so he wouldn't bother.  Keep
hiking.

Have a great weekend.

Regards,

Paige

I just did a cfdump of form and session variables at the top of the page called by my cc processor using a live transaction. The form.cfid  and token aren't picked up!

Session vars (created on the same page as below, ignoring the form variables present):
CFID 732823
CFTOKEN 15411960

Form vars (which is the correct session of the person paying):
CFID 732698
CFTOKEN 37242305

Why might this not be working?

Hmm, stopped working now.

I have an approval post from my cc processor. Previously I got back the cfid/token values only, so tacked them on a cflocation string and reloaded to hook up with the correct customer session. Funny thing was, it worked locally, but onsite kept looping as though it were reposting. (Logs atually said post, not get. Why???) I added a special url variable to the string to check, and that broke the looping and it worked.

I then found out I could get hidden vars back, so I'm getting cfif and cftoken back as form vars. Should work, but stopped, as though it isn't hooking up with the correct session anymore.

Any ideas?

Hi there--if you haven't already done so, you need to manually download and install the MySQL JDBC driver into the BlueDragon lib directory.  If you have popup blocking turned *off* in your browser, as you try to add the MySQL datasource a popup window explains how to do this, but here's the jist of it:

1. Go to http://www.mysql.com/products/connector-j/index.html to get the MySQL JDBC driver (3.0 is the latest version).

2. Extract the driver from the zip file.

3. Locate the driver jar file, which will be named something like mysql-connector-java-3.0.11-stable-bin.jar

4. If you're on BD JX, rename this jar file to mysql.jar and copy it into your BlueDragon bin directory (/PATH_TO_BLUEDRAGON/lib)

5. Restart BD

That should take care of it--I'm using JX but I was using the free version previously and I believe the steps are the same; in any case if you turn off your popup blocking you will see instructions when you try to add a MySQL datasource.

If you're on Windows and you're using the free edition of BD, you have to download and install the MySQL driver for Windows and then set up your MySQL datasource as an ODBC datasource in Windows itself since the free server only supports ODBC datasources.

Hope that helps--feel free to email me directly if you're still having problems.

Naming application-scoped variables from within a loop

2004-03-26 Thread David Robinson
The following code works fine to create a set of arrays: Array_1, Array_2,
etc.

But I can't figure out how to create that group of arrays as
application-scoped objects.
How would I go about creating objects so that I end up with
application.Array_1, application.Array_2, etc. ?

I have tried:

which creates arrays, but not in the application scope. The
tag is working fine - I have other application variables - my problem is
with using some variable in building the name of an application variable.  I
must be missing something, probably something pretty obvious.  Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Where, above, does this lc conversion occur (could be multiple)?

3 and 4, I didn't try 1 & 2.
with WDDX packet serialized at client however, there is an undocumented property of the wddxSerializer object which allows to deactivate the lower case function.
But I haven't find any in the
I solved this problem by using only lower case variables names.
But the other issue is the ridiculous amout of text generated by the WDDX format.
What I'm doing:
1. create a data structure in clent _javascript_,
2. serialize it and send it as text in a hidden field back to the server,
3. the server stores it in the database.
later : the server can read it back, deserialize it, regenerate the data structure in _javascript_ and send it to the client.

But the WDDX structure need more than 64k .
So I tried to deserialize before storing in the database, it is about 3 times smaller, but stil too large.
I finally manage to generate my own compact _javascript_ code to recreate the structure directly from client and it takes now about 2k, much more reasonable.
Works fine.

Thanks for the help.

What's specified in your MX Admin for the max timeout value? I believe the
default is 20 minutes or some such.

As a side note, I've become a fan of converting createTimeSpan() calls in my
cfapplication tags to the hard-coded value. It's one less function call per
page, and a simple comment above it will clear up any confusion to other
developers (because the value could be something like 0.3).

#ERROR.DIAGNOSTICS#

I was also wondering if anyone knows of or might have code for CFMX that

Re: CFWDDX converts to lower case?

2004-03-26 Thread Dick Applebaum
Aw, geeze... sorry man.

1) WDDX packet serialized at server

2) WDDX packet deserialized at client

3) WDDX packet serialized at client

4) WDDX packet deserialized a Server

Where, above, does this lc conversion occur (could be multiple)?

how deep do your js arrays within arrays go?

I didn't think WDDX.js handled nested arrays -- just parallel arrays
like it uses in its recordset.

Web Server affecting browser rendering?

2004-03-26 Thread Craig Earls
Has anybody seen a browser render the same HTML differently from two
different servers?  I have apache over cfmx on my local test system, while
my live site is on IIS.  My browser (IE6, usually)  renders my pages
correctly from localhost, but the same files (verified using CS-Diff) render
differently when they are retrieved from the remote server. The received
files are identical...

Yep, DEVNET edition.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can fix it locally since the WDDX
packets are generated automatically and must not be setting the correct
text/xml content-type.

What OS? I have never seen this on OS X (since the first Linux port).

That sounds like a bug -- AFAIK the developer version is identical to

I have a cfm that I call from flash using a querystring and the GET
method.  I can acess those variables using URL.varName.
If I do the POST method, how do I access the sent variables?  Same

Actually, I did.  That's why I am posting.  I have 3 articles that I keep on
reading over and over again.  I am sure I am missing something.  The 3
articles I am using as reference are:

1 from livedocs, and the 2 from Macromedia's website ( "ColdFusion Extreme:
Creating a Flexible XML Menu " and "XML and XSLT in ColdFusion MX").

Sorry if it sounds so basic, but I am sure it is something simple;  I just
can't see to put my finger on it.

RE: Upgrading Problem on CFMX

2004-03-26 Thread Kenneth Wilson
I do believe I recall some mention of someone else encountering this
right after CFMX came out. In their case it seems the explanation was
that the original cfm file was so long that when converted to java it
exceeded a limit imposed by java. Breaking the page into two separate
includes solved the problem even though together they were just as long.
In that case I believe it was a super-long switch/case statement.

That's all just ancient memory though...maybe try breaking yours into
two pieces if possible.

Perhaps
enabling the "Enable Long Text Retrieval" option for the datasource

You can't just take a number away from a date

1 what? 1 nanosecond? 1 year?

Use DateAdd() and ti should fix it

Also, check the values in your "demographicvaluedesc" field - if any of
them aren't able to be converted to a date, then the whole thing will
fail

ERROR Attributes

2004-03-26 Thread Ciliotta, Mario
Hi,

I am in the process of creating a error handling page that would email back
the error message that the user is getting and display back to the user a more
friendly message.  I am sure other here have done this already.  I am
wondering what other error attributes are there.

I am using:

#ERROR.TEMPLATE#
#ERROR.DATETIME#
#ERROR.BROWSER#
#ERROR.QUERYSTRING#
#ERROR.HTTPREFERER#
#ERROR.DIAGNOSTICS#

I was also wondering if anyone knows of or might have code for CFMX that will
allow me to read the CF logs.  I do not have access tot he admin so I cannot
see the logs.  If anyone has any code or knows of any applications out there
that have this functionality, please let me know.

Thanks

Using the one from CF would violate the license of CF, I bet.  What driver
are you needing?  The MySQL one that CF uses (Connector-J) is avaliable GPL

Using /images will always go to the domain root.

If you have more than one site under the domain root like below, then doing
/images in any of those sites will tell the browser to resolve to the images

If you are interested in getting it to work for a particular site, you'll
need to put /siteN/images where siteN refers to the site you are in.

www.domain.com/site1
www.domain.com/site2

I think the problem stem from the the field not containg a date correctly.

I was thinking about adding something to the effect of a CASE statement using the ISDATE function to check if it is a date. But the following does not work either

select personid from persondemographic(nolock)
where demographicgroupid =3
and demographicitemid = 4
CASE
WHEN isdate(demographicvaluedesc) =1 THEN  cast(demographicvaluedesc as datetime) > getdate()

You can't just take a number away from a date

1 what? 1 nanosecond? 1 year?

Use DateAdd() and ti should fix it

Also, check the values in your "demographicvaluedesc" field - if any of
them aren't able to be converted to a date, then the whole thing will
fail

Here is why WDDX doesn't work for a lot of us...

2004-03-26 Thread Craig Earls
After struggling for hours trying to get WDDX deserialization in _javascript_
to work I finally started try hand formed wddx packets to test. It turns out
that my CFMX development server sticks a tag at the head of EVERY
thing it sends out, this breaks XML output and most parsers refuse to deal
with and silently fail.  Shifting over to a full enterprise server fixed the
problem...

That worked how can I get the time out of the variable that is what is making it not receiving.  The time part of the variable is messing it up.

SOT: JDBC driver

2004-03-26 Thread Ben Densmore
Does anyone know the name of the JDBC driver that CFMX uses and where it
is located? We have a Java app that is using an eval version of a JDBC
driver and I was thinking we could just use the one that's built into
CFMX so we don't have to purchase a license for this other driver.

Thanks,

Re: CFWDDX converts to lower case?

2004-03-26 Thread Dick Applebaum
OK

I am late to this thread & I already deleted most of the message.

But, WDDX itself does not change the case of packet contents.

the  _javascript_ routines *may *do this (at least to column names in a
query)

Looking at the WDDX _javascript_ supplied by CFMX, it appears that you
can control if you set a variable:

636
///

637 // WddxRecordset([flagPreserveFieldCase]) creates an empty
recordset.
638 // WddxRecordset(columns [, flagPreserveFieldCase]) creates a
recordset
639 //   with a given set of columns provided as an array of strings.
640 // WddxRecordset(columns, rows [, flagPreserveFieldCase]) creates a
641 //   recordset with these columns and some number of rows.
642 // In all cases, flagPreserveFieldCase determines whether the exact
case
643 //   of field names is preserved. If omitted, the default value is
false
644 //   which means that all field names will be lowercased.
645 function WddxRecordset()
646 {
647 // Add default properties
648 	this.preserveFieldCase = false;

If this doesn't solve the problem, you can ryo  _javascript_ routines
(using the WDDX.js as a guide.

Re: CF Email Function

2004-03-26 Thread Rick Lansford
Thanks: I am still trying to figure out the connectivity problem. I'm getting some strange (meaning I'm not smart enough to know what the are) error messages on the SMTP server. However, the test email page I send out has a date and time stamp in the body of the email and each message had a one minute increment. So the repeated sending must have been done by CF and that may be why the connection to the SMTP began to fail. Any thoughts? Should I do a reinstallation of CF, or is it not that drastic?

RE: Windows CF5 Custom Tags Bug?

2004-03-26 Thread Jon Block
Dave,

I understand how paired tags work, but apparently I wasn't clear enough in
describing what the symptom is...let me try to draw it out...

myFile.cfm
  --->
 --->

In other words, the "myFile.cfm" calls the custom tag
ONCE (without a slash at the end). Then, the calls the
once without a slash at the end.

When I call , the end result is that the "myFile.cfm"
template is getting invoked twice!!!

What is that all about?

cf_html2pdf3 / htmldoc / iis 4 / iis 5 (troubles)

2004-03-26 Thread McCormick, Eric
i'm having some trouble with htmldoc on my production server.

i recently installed htmldoc on my dev server (a win2k unit running iis 5
and cf 5) and on my production intranet server (an nt4 unit running cf 5).
i'm developing a product quotation system that delivers a quote document in
pdf format.

i'm aware htmldoc doesn't support css, so i have painstakingly created a
static page that displays wonderfully from either machine.  on my dev
server, the page translates to pdf perfectly.  on my production server, the
pdf translation is incorrect.  whenever i output a numeric value:
#numberformat(myprice,'999,999,999.99')# the displayed value is shifted to
the left one character for every comma being displayed.  in other words, if
the value is 0.00, it stays all the way to the right.  if the value is
1,200.00, it gets shifted to the left 1 character.  1,000,000.00 gets
shifted to the left 2 characters.

needless to say, it looks horrible.  there's no way i can deliver quotes to
customers with this problem.

any idea what could be the cause of this?  the variable i see is iis.  could
iis 4 be handling html differently than iis 5?

If you have another CF machine and you know the password to it, you can go

The one you'll want is "neo-security.xml" - in there set the value of
the admin.security.enabled bit to "false", restart CF and you'll be able
to get into the admin without using a password.  Change the password,
then change the value of admin.security.enabled back to "true" and
restart CF again.

Tim.

The one you'll want is "neo-security.xml" - in there set the value of
the admin.security.enabled bit to "false", restart CF and you'll be able
to get into the admin without using a password.  Change the password,
then change the value of admin.security.enabled back to "true" and
restart CF again.

Tim.

Re: Using CFC to dynamically populate a select using javascript?

2004-03-26 Thread Dick Applebaum
Yeah, WDDX is verbose, but so is generic XML --- but their objectives
are:

--- define the structure of complex or simple data.

--- provide a container for the data

--- be human-readable as well as machine readable

WDDX & generic XML meet these objectives,

It is my experience that they are about a wash as far as verbosity
overhead.

I am not sure what I am going to do with it. The API is getting quite
large so I don't know if cflib is the proper place for it. There are
actually 3 parts that could be considered separate projects in them
selves.

But it *is* _javascript_... not to hard to just borrow it :). The only
part that you'd be missing is the ThinArray cfc data type. If you have
the urge to try it out send me a message off list and I'll fill you in -
I just ask you report bugs and know that it's beta bordering on alpha.

Plus, as projects go, this is me just playing with stuff so I wouldn't
recommend using it for anything real as my paying stuff comes first then
cfeclipse, then this, then all the other ones ;)

I think the most complicated plug-in I'm allowed to rely on is Flash.

You cannot run ColdFusion functions in the database engine

What database engine are you using? Each should have it's own date
functions to convert strings to date

E.g. SQL Server you can use Convert(DateTime, prDateSubmitted)

Come on now - is it really fair to blame WDDX because of a limitation in
Access? As it stands - according to Google, the 64k limit only exists when
using Access directly. Via SQL, you should have 1 gig of space.

FW: Trouble installing cfmx 6.1 (jrun4) on Solaris/Apache

2004-03-26 Thread Steini
Hi ...

I'm installing cfmx on a Solaris box... apache 2.0.43...
(I have done it before successfully)  but I'm no Solaris expert...  ;-)

but now... at the step where I'm asked to tell where the apache binaries are
I get this message:

Where is the Apache program binary file? (For example, on Red Hat Linux it

could be located in the /usr/sbin/httpd directory if you installed from
an

rpm.) If you have more than one instance of Apache on your computer,
enter

the binary file location for the Apache web server that will use
ColdFusion

MX. (Note: this is not the Apache start and stop script.)

   File: /usr/local/apache2/bin/httpd

Macromedia ColdFusion MX does not support this version of Apache.  The

minimum supported Apache versions are 1.3.12 or higher for Apache 1.x and

2.0.43 or higher for Apache 2.x.

Where is the Apache program binary file? (For example, on Red Hat Linux

I didn't compile apache myself ... I used the install-bindist.sh

Any idea what I could do?

Thanks

Not this way, but if you are on CFMX, you could do this in your
application.cfm:

And in your code

#clientScope.var#

NOT tested, but it should work. On CF5 it won't, because the client
scope is not a struct!

RE: SQL Q

This can be done with a LIKE, but it is very inefficient. If you have
the option to modify the db, I would. Replace all lists by related
tables!! It would make this kind of operation very easy.
Now, as I know people don't like to hear: "change the db", because
sometimes they can't: here is the solution to your problem.

SELECT thedata
FROM thetable
WHERE 0 = 0

AND ',' + group1 + ',' LIKE
value="%,#i#,%">

AND ',' + group2 + ',' LIKE
value="%,#i#,%">

AND ',' + group3 + ',' LIKE

RE: CFWDDX converts to lower case?

2004-03-26 Thread Pascal Peters
Because before cfmx, structures in CF couldn't preserve the case of the
keys. So when you convert it to js, they needed a consistent way of
creating property names. They chose lower case. They really didn't have
the option to keep your original case.
Bottom line: CF is case insensitive and anything going through it could
loose case.
