Re: MySQL - CF: Access Denied when using password

2005-08-28 Thread Will Tomlinson
I experienced the same kind of problem a long time ago when I was using MySQL.
Ran into it with SQL server I think too.

Don't ask me why, but I believe what I did that worked was to go straight thru
my Windows Control panel to setup the datasource.
Control Panel Administrative Tools Data Sources Click the system DSN tab.

Mine is showing the MySQL driver as being ODBC MySQL 3.51 ODBC.

Maybe you can try it like that? Then go thru CF admin afterwards.

Wow, when did this happen? I thought Flash cannot do upload.

Not only that when I visited the site, I got a message saying that I need Flash
player 8 to view it and ask me if I want to download it. This is so much
better than the stupid blank page in the previous Flash Player versions. Now I
am curious what other new features Flash Player 8 has. This is way cool. Good
job, Macromedia! It is a long wait, but still awesome.

Re: JDBC nightmare

2005-08-28 Thread Claude Schneegans
 Whenever you pick any
of the listed datasource types besides Other, you're using JDBC drivers
that come with CF. Pointbase is the only driver that comes with CF, for
which you have to configure the JDBC URL yourself.

Ah oky ;-)
Now among the other drivers (JDBC), how can I know the type, ie the ones
that use the
ODBC bridge if ever, and the ones that are fully JDBC?

From the last post I made before this one:

No, only the 'Microsoft Access' and 'ODBC Socket' datasources use ODBC. All

Newbie fusebox 4.1 problem

2005-08-28 Thread Andy Social
I am trying to run a Hello World app (made by Hal
Helms) using the FB4.1 core files. (Filename:
fusebox410.corefiles.cfmx).
I am using CFMX hosted on Crystaltech.
First I copy the core files to a new directory.
In the index.cfm I change the appname.
In the fusebox.xml file, I add a circuit, and change
the default fuseaction.
I create a circuit.xml that contains a fuseaction and
defines a fuse to be executed.
I then create a dspHelloWorld.cfm template.

I get an unusual error:
Error casting an object of type to an incompatible
type. This usually indicates a programming error in
Java, although it could also mean you have tried to
use a foreign object in a different way than it was
designed.

Am I am doing something stupid?

Re: Newbie fusebox 4.1 problem

2005-08-28 Thread Brian Kotek
No, this is actually a bug in CFMX7 that involves using duplicate() on
certain variables when sandbox security is enabled. Until it is fixed
(Macromedia has already recognized the bug per Sean Corfield), you'll
have to make a small change to the core files to switch this:

application.fusebox = duplicate(fb_.application.fusebox);

with:

application.fusebox = fb_.application.fusebox;

Brian

Flash remoting/cfcexplorer problem

2005-08-28 Thread Stephen Moretti
First up - apologies for the cross post to CF-Talk and CFCDev.

I've got a problem with Flash CFFORM and flash remoting, which I think
is also related to the cfcexplorer problem.

When I call the cfc using the actionscript at the bottom of this email I
get the error Error while calling cfc:service wms05.order.OrderForm not
found and when I try to explore the cfc using CFMX7's cfc explorer I
get The component definition file for component
'wms05.orders.OrderForm' cannot be found on this server.

However, if I invoke the cfc from a cf page it works just fine. (code
also at the bottom of the email)
Also, I can call the same cfc from my flash cfform using the
createEmptyMovieClip/loadVariables hack, but in this instance I really
would like to use the proper remoting function calls.

(CFForm flash remoting instructions/examples can be found at
http://www.asfusion.com/)

I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do now, so any help/insights would
be much appreciated.

COAL- the Coldfusion Open Application Library

2005-08-28 Thread Ryan Guill
Hi,

My name is Ryan Guill and I am developing an open-source framework for
ColdFusion called COAL, which stands for the ColdFusion Open
Application Library. It is intended to be similar to PHP's PEAR or
PERL's CPAN libraries, although there are several differences.

The basic idea is to create a free repository of reusable and flexible
components for use as services and objects. Its purpose is to allow
ColdFusion developers to develop their applications quicker and
easier, reducing the time to market. It's a way to standardize the
components as well and provide documentation for them, so that if
anyone is having trouble with a COAL component, any other developer
using COAL will instantly be on the same page.

This project is just getting started, although a lot of work and
effort has been invested already. But the project cannot continue
without some help and support from the community.

So here is my plea for help. What COAL currently needs is three
things. We need ColdFusion developers coming up with ideas for
components to include in COAL. The opportunities are endless really.
Anything that you do often in your applications and can be
encapsulated into components and objects would be a perfect fit for
COAL. COAL is also flexible enough to have multiple components
(called services) in its library that do the same thing only in
different ways, allowing the end developers to choose the service that
best fits their needs.

The second thing is that we need developers creating these components
for COAL, as well as testing and using them, making sure that they are
stable and bug-free. We have the ability to add components of an
alpha, beta or stable stage so that the end developers will know what
is fine to use in production without question and what they may need
to take a look at to make sure. Also, components submitted to the
COAL library are encouraged to be open source, although they are not
required to be. You can encrypt the source if you like.

And then finally, we just need ColdFusion developers using COAL and
talking about COAL and just spreading the word!

Here are some links to some COAL resources. Feel free to reply to
this message with any questions or comments. Thank you for your time,
and hopefully, we will have a great platform, making ColdFusion
development even easier and enjoyable than it already is!

Best tool to develop Java CFX_tags?

It looks like Microsoft doesn't support Visual J++ any more.

So the question: what's the best for Java CF custom tags?

Re: MySQL - CF: Access Denied when using password SOLVED

2005-08-28 Thread Josh Nathanson
Thanks all, I downloaded the MySQL Connector/J 3.0 and it worked. First I
downloaded the newer version 3.1 and that did not work, perhaps because I am
on CFMX 6.1 rather than 7.

Thanks again!!

PayPal button return URL

2005-08-28 Thread Bobby Hartsfield
I am sort of new to the whole PayPal payment in my applications. I’ve only
done this one other time and it seems to work just fine but I can’t see the
difference that is causing it to fail between my old working app and the one
Im currently working on.

I gave the Paypal button both the return field and cancel_return field. When
I get to the sandbox, I can hit pay or cancel. Cancel goes back to the url I
tell it to.

When I hit buy it goes to the next (confirmation) screen with a “Return to
Merchant” button that brings them back to the site. It comes back to the
correct url but the url variables are missing.

Eg.. I have

input type=hidden name=return
value=http://mysite.com/join/index.cfm?act=ppcomfokey=#orderkey#;

But when it comes back to the site it comes back to

HYPERLINK
http://mysite.com/join/index.cfmhttp://mysite.com/join/index.cfm?

I’ve looked at the source of the paypal “Return to Merchant” button and the
form’s action is indeed the correct path:

Action=”HYPERLINK
http://mysite.com/join/index.cfm?act=ppcomfamp;okey=jw8ahsj3o8dm1mnhttp:/
/mysite.com/join/index.cfm?act=ppcomfamp;okey=jw8ahsj3o8dm1mn”

Here is the source of the actual button on my site...

form action=https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr; method=post

input type=hidden name=cmd value=_xclick

input type=hidden name=business value=[EMAIL PROTECTED]

input type=hidden name=item_name value=Membership

input type=hidden name=item_number value=jw8ahsj3o8dm1mn

input type=hidden name=amount value=20.00

input type=hidden name=no_shipping value=1

input type=hidden name=return
value=http://mysite.com/join/index.cfm?act=ppcomfokey=jw8ahsj3o8dm1mn;

input type=hidden name=cancel_return
value=http://mysite.com/join/index.cfm?act=canceledokey=jw8ahsj3o8dm1mn;

input type=hidden name=no_note value=1

input type=hidden name=currency_code value=USD

input type=hidden name=lc value=US

input type=hidden name=bn value=PP-BuyNowBF

input type=image
src=https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/x-click-but03.gif;
border=0 name=submit alt=Make payments with PayPal - it's fast, free
and secure!

/form

(Hopefully, all of that stays in a readable format when I hit send!)

Anyone see something I’m missing? I just can’t see why it would cut off the
url vars like that.

Thanks for any help.

RE: PayPal button return URL (update)

2005-08-28 Thread Bobby Hartsfield
Actually, I set the other site up locally (the one that worked) on my dev
box and it is doing the same thing. Weird.

The whole process is pretty useless without the URL variables. Hopefully
someone else is seeing this or has seen it before?

Fwd: COAL- the Coldfusion Open Application Library

Thanks,

 Hi Ryan,

I've had a look at COAL. It's not bad. This paragraph here of course
describes some of the hopes that have been behind the onTap framework
for a long time as well... it hasn't really worked out that way -- at
least not yet. Mostly because I haven't been able to generate the
interest amongst the developer community. For myself, I'm now able to
produce good quality app work very quickly (think Ruby on Rails for
CF), like the Blogs onTap plugin which I built in a week and is way
 more feature-rich than BlogCFC.

I was kind of wondering if you'd seen the onTap framework and if so if
you had any thoughts on it in particular? COAL is certainly not
mutually exclusive -- all I'd have to do is put the coal include in my
application stage and viola - integrated funcationality.

If you get a few minutes, have a look at the Power onTap presentation
 (it's about 18 minutes) at
 http://www.fusiontap.com/docs/index.cfm?netaction=articlesarticle=200
and/or install the Blogs onTap sample application
(http://www.fusiontap.com/download - it requires all 4 of the
currently available modules -- framework core, plugin manager, members
 onTap and the blog).

I'd be interested to know what you think. :)

Sorry about that -- nah, I had sent that message off-list... Not that
I mind it being on the list, but there's been a fair amount of talk
about my framework on the list recently anyway, and I figured it made
more sense for me to email you directly rather than continue to flood

accidentally did with a thread about PLUM a while ago. (My diplomatic

Subject: COAL- the Coldfusion Open Application Library

 Hi,

My name is Ryan Guill and I am developing an open-source framework for
ColdFusion called COAL, which stands for the ColdFusion Open
Application Library. It is intended to be similar to PHP's PEAR or
PERL's CPAN libraries, although there are several differences.

This doesn't sound to dissimilar to the libraries I've been publishing and
poorly documenting here:

http://www.depressedpress.com/depressedpress/Content/Development/ColdFusion/
DPLibraries/Index.cfm

The idea here being the creation of service applications which lack
interfaces but provide abstraction for some complex or annoying tasks.

I've been distracted by other things and haven't documented as much as I
would have liked but all of the Component Catalogs are documented (they're
self-documenting... which is why they're done).

If you see anything you can use feel free - everything's under the
(non-viral) BSD license. I'm particularly pleased with the Security
Library.

Well that was a fun conversation :) hehe that's what I get for posting on
Sundays.

Well between now and the olden days paypal has given the option of
defining the return method get or post default is get so my vars were
dead.

For the sake of the archives, use a hidden field called rm to define the
return method
1 (or omitted) = GET
2 = POST

input type=hidden name=rm value=2

man I miss PayFlowPro and Verisign accounts!
