Re: [cfaussie] Companies Using ColdFusion
Adobe in my opinion have no clue about the product, serious bugs can take them years to even fix and even if they do, there is no guarantee that they will be released for current supported versions. Most times, they get released with the next version only. I raised a concurrency issue with ColdFusion 10, that is really a serious issue with the Application scope and it took Adobe 3-4 years to actually fix it. Nobody can wait that length of time while trying to get work done. Most places still using ColdFusion are 3 or more versions behind the current version, which is obviously a cost factor in upgrading. I mean Windows 10 has been stable for a very long time, Adobe had the chance to make sure they released connectors that would work on Windows 10 and yet, to this date I haven't seen any updates for it. They only have themselves to blame. Re: [cfaussie] Looking for Cold Fusion and MAK2 Framework Developer
Mach II hasn't seen any development for over 8 years or even more. If you are going to go with a framework, then you would be better to go with something that can scale your site or roll your own. Personally, Coldbox is the far better framework. Mach II, is slow and out dated and bloated for what it delivers. When you restore from another SQL server, if that option is also selected it will copy and recreate the user account that is on that SQL Server. The best bet as Administrator is to add the User account on the server that is going to have the restored database, to that database. Yeah I stopped using Apache nearly 10 years ago, I had no need to learn it any further, as all jobs I worked on where IIS installations. Charlie, How did you get past the connectors not supporting Windows 10? I am guessing you did that manually then. Re: [cfaussie] CF and Windows 10 and IIS
Mike, ColdFusion 9 will run on any version of Windows, it is Java. The issues arises when trying to use the connectors on anything above Windows 7 as well as the installer. You have a few options that will work, depending on if you have the time. As Andrew Myers hinted, running multiple instance of ColdFusion is always a good thing in development. It allows you to add instances of any version of ColdFusion if you have the war/ear files to do so. ColdFusion 9 is not supported on Tomcat, but it will run fine and you will need to know how to manually set sites up. I know there was issues during ColdFusion 10 beta days, where ColdFusion 9 wars had issues being deployed on ColdFusion 10 installs. So you may be in for some long learning sessions on how to do this manually. Another option, but time consuming is to install Windows 7 and ColdFusion 9 and update it to Windows 10. Although this should work it may run into further unsupported issues. I know ColdFusion 10 and ColdFusion 11 are running fine here on my Windows 10 machine, but this was an update from Windows 8. The only issue is the connector detects its unsupported, so knowing how to manually configure the server is going to be handy. My favourite, is to just throw as much ram into the main machine as possible and go and install VirtualBox. This will allow you to setup and install any amount of Virtual Machines to suit your taste. I am guessing that you are in need to have it run on ColdFusion 9 because sites you maintain use it, but too be honest I would be looking at ColdFusion 10 and ColdFusion 11, with a Virtual Machine running ColdFusion 9 and then you can migrate the site over to ColdFusion 10 at your convenience. Re: [cfaussie] CF and Windows 10 and IIS
Not sure if it's a path you would consider but I had a situation where I needed to run Cf11 on Red Hat 5.x which is not a supported platform. Upgrading the server wasn't an option at that point in time. My solution was to create a war file from the installer (can be done on another machine) and deploy it on Tomcat on the Rh server. I then uses mod-jk to hook it into the Apache version (the older Apache version was the actual problem with the Adobe connectors). Given you're on IIS I don't know how you'd connect tomcat but I expect being such a widely used app server there'd be doco on it. You do it at your own risk though, it's an unsupported platform after all. But I'm willing to share what I did on the tomcat side of things if it's any help. Re: [cfaussie] CF and Windows 10 and IIS
Hey Mike, I can't vouch for ColdFusion 9, but I don't recall Adobe actually updating the installer to work on Windows 8+. What you are experiencing seems to point to that as an issue. Now there is a known hack, but it is really use at your own risk, to extract the install files and install everything manually. The installer used prior to Windows 8, would have issues that you describe. When using the connectors, these must be run elevated as well. ColdFusion 10 and ColdFusion 11 as they both have the new updated installers, should work on Windows 10 as they do work on Windows 8. But I just can't vouch for ColdFusion 9, if it has these update installers or not. [cfaussie] JEE / Vanilla Tomcat install - Proxy Timeouts
Hiya, I've been forced to install CF11 as a JEE install (because the Adobe tomcat connector doesn't work on our OS version). It's mostly been an unpleasant experience however I've resolved most issues apart from one. I'm proxying from apache to tomcat via ajp. When I have a long running process (such as a video file upload), it times out with a 502 status. I've tried using ProxyTimeout in Apache but that didn't seem to help. Has anyone had this with ACF or Railo and found a solution? Thanks Andrew -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "cfaussie" group. Restful is not a web service but a normal RPC that uses get/post/delete etc. So any language than can have an entry point can do RPC or restful calls. Re: [cfaussie] Unable to read WSDL from URL
What happens if you try to invoke the CFC via the URL and not as a webservice? For example what does this do in the browser? http://localhost/login/NTLoginService.cfc? <http://localhost/login/NTLoginService.cfc?wsdl>method=loginUserNT& NTusername=test&NTpassword=testpassword&NTdomainz=testdomain Could that be throwing an error that the invoke is masking? But seriously, move away from webservices they actually suck in ColdFusion and is why people prefer RestFul. Actually come to think of it.. Have you also tried this, during development if the component is being changed, you also need to clear the stubs. I don't recall it being that exact error, but a quick Google has made the exact same suggestions. One thing that you haven't mentioned, is this a 32bit or 64bit installation of ColdFusion. From memory the ntAuthentication tags are using com objects to talk to Windows Authentication servers, if your running on a 64bit OS you may find that this is going to be a major issue with what your trying to do. Re: [cfaussie] Unable to read WSDL from URL
Yes, but you also need to look at this setting in ColdFusion. If this is not ticked it will only send a 404 or 500 status code, during development this really should be a setting that you switch on. *Enable HTTP status codes* Enables ColdFusion to set HTTP error status codes when ColdFusion errors are returned to the browser. ColdFusion sets an error status code of 404 if the template is not found and an error status code of 500 for server errors. Re: [cfaussie] Unable to read WSDL from URL
Also on top of what Charlie has said, you might want to turn on robust exceptions for local development. I think you will need to turn off or on the HTTP status codes as well. What that does is send the error back to IIS so the browser can display it, this may help see the error on the screen rather than searching through the logs for it. But as Paul stated, you would be far better using Restful services rather than web services. Re: [cfaussie] CF10 Cross Domain sessions with HTTPS
Phil, A couple of things you can try if you haven't already. 1) Fully patch ColdFusion 10. 2) Make sure that the Connectors have been removed an re-added to the site in question. 3) Remove all connectors and make sure that any previous version of ColdFusion connectors have been removed. I did a quick Google search, and there is a variety of reasons. The main was is what Dale was stating, the others what I suggest above. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1017340 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/15234605/coldfusion-sessions-dropped-when-initiated-by-a-different-domain I would give the Connector issue a go first, as this has had serious implications with CGI and other stuff when people have forgotten to remove and re-add the connectors. Re: [cfaussie] Re: CF10 Cross Domain sessions with HTTPS
Actually cookie storage for client variables is by far the best option, if your storing more than basic info in there you should rethink your application design. Secondly I am very sure that the Client scope is based on the current session as well and if that is not sticking your client variables will be different. Because the CFID & CFTOKEN will be different, you can verify this by looking into the documentation where it shows how the client storage require these tokens to be pulled up for that current session. Peter, sorry but the 101 or the basics is clearly not what your saying. But as Dale said most people have not used client variables since the days of ColdFusion 5.0 or lower. Re: [cfaussie] Re: Help with CFmail sending multiple attachments
That is why I sent you the link, the link explains how to use cffile. Once you have moved the file that is accessible by ColdFusion, using the destination that is where the file now lives, so if you want to reference the file you just use what you stuck in the destination attribute. Google how to use ColdFusion cffile will result in hundreds of solutions and blogs that will help. Re: [cfaussie] Are there any mid-snr CF devs left in Australia
See that is the thing Dale, your experience is different to the next. I know of 7 companies just in the last 3 years alone, who couldn't get developers and have emailed me. When I ask them what version they are using, so I can ask around, I almost fall over backwards when they say ColdFusion 5. Re: [cfaussie] Are there any mid-snr CF devs left in Australia
It has been my experience that those finding it difficult to get developers, are themselves using older version of ColdFusion, mainly version 5. And that is a problem in itself... Not saying this is that case here, but something to consider. And personally the money usually on offer for developing on these systems, is like a kick in the teeth for developers. Re: [cfaussie] Re: Help with CFmail sending multiple attachments
Carmen, There is a couple of things you need to be aware, first when ColdFusion uploads a file it is stored in a temporary location and is removed at the end of the request ( I believe), therefore you will need to use cffile to move the file to a location that is not web accessible, but accessible via ColdFusion. The location that you move the file too, will be the location that will be used for your initial question. The support on twitter is similar to the support you received, difference is they respond a lot quicker. If they don't have the answer they will get back to you after chasing it up, as with anyone who can forget a quick DM to them will remind them to chase it up for you. Dale, I am not disputing that it is a bug or not. This is not something I have any knowledge on, and can't find the setting in ColdFusion 9. But I am hoping to learn more about this setting and what makes this change different to not being in ColdFusion 9. Re: [cfaussie] cflocation fails in CF10 but fine in CF9
If it is a scheduled task, does it require all that output? Personally I would pass in a URL variable for debug purposes if you require the output for visual confirmation or an email being sent off. But for a normal scheduled event, all that output is running execution cycles for no reason. I am with Charlie on this. Connection Reset as opposed to Connection Reset by Peer is an indication that the Web Service was expecting more data and there was no more to be received. Hi, Does anyone know if you can install the CFBuilder plugin on multiple eclipse versions concurrently? I have it installed on Indigo at the moment, but would like to try it on Juno. Re: [cfaussie] Installing CF9 on Win7 HP
You're right it doesn't mention that you also need the ASP.net stuff, which is also in the same area as IIS add ons. Make sure that you have the ASP.net 3.5 stuff added. But if you install ColdFusion 9.01 you should not need to run the Web Server Config tool, the only reason you would need to do this is if it fails. Which by the sounds of it is doing, because of the required things needed. Re: [cfaussie] Installing CF9 on Win7 HP
The compatibility to IIS 6 is only needed when you install ColdFusion 9. If you don't run the administrator, you can upgrade to ColdFusion 9.01 and then run the Administrator. IIS 7/7.5/8 require that certain features be installed, which are not installed by default. IIS itself of course, and the cgi/isapi options need to be installed as well. I think there are hundreds of examples of what needs to be switched on that people have blogged, the only thing you need to ignore is the IIS6 compatibility, but only if you install the update before running the administrator. http://jaminquimby.com/index.php/coldfusion/101-step-by-step-coldfusion-9-installation -- Regards, Andrew Scott WebSite: http://www.andyscott.id.au/ Google+: http://plus.google.com/108193156965451149543 On Sat, May 5, 2012 at 1:26 PM, Stephen M wrote: > I just got a new laptop with Win7 Home Premium and I'm stuck trying to > install CF9 > Previous experience installing CF9 on Win7 Pro lead me to believe that I > should first install using the built in java server then use the web server > config tool to connect to IIS7, then I could create a Conly website with > its own app pool. > > So when I try the web server config tool I get this error > "ASP.NET Window's feature is not installed. Re: [cfaussie] bind complete
Steve if that is what you wish to do then, this is what you need to do. As stated this binds a select change, but in your case you wish to do it when it succeeds or finishing loading. Then you will need to read up a bit more about this over at the docs. http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/help.html?content=Tags_a-b_3.html You will see an option for onSuccess or onError. -- Regards, Andrew Scott WebSite: http://www.andyscott.id.au/ Google+: http://plus.google.com/108193156965451149543 On Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 2:05 PM, Steve Onnis wrote: > Thanks for that though it isn’t quite what i am looking for. > > ** ** > > I want something that will fire when a bind process has been completed. > What you have suggested below will fire when the value of the > “selectchange” select box has been changed but it doesn’t fire when the > selectbox is initially loaded and populated by the binding process. > > ** ** > > Basically what i am doing is creating some custom selectbox UI’s and i > need to know when the bind has completed so i can update my custom selecbox > UI to reflect the new list of options. > > ** > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "cfaussie" group. Re: [cfaussie] bind complete
Steve what you need to do then is something like this function mediachange(x) { console.log(x); } That is provided your cfselect is something like this. The ajaxproxy will then bind the change event to the cfselect, in which you can then do what you need to do based on the value selected. If that means changing another cfselect or doing something else. Now I am almost positive that the bind finished will change the value, hence fire an on change event. -- Regards, Andrew Scott WebSite: http://www.andyscott.id.au/ Google+: http://plus.google.com/108193156965451149543 On Wed, Apr 18, 2012 at 12:50 PM, Steve Onnis wrote: > I personaly don’t like using it. There's one called YSlow that gives you some feedback on download times of the various resources on a page. Also the "net" tab in firebug is pretty helpful too.
