[Chevelle-list] Front Suspension
Hey Guys, Quick question, does anyone know the difference between big block and small block front springs? Later on I want to convert to the big block but dont really want to buy different springs if I dont have to. Would it hurt to use big block springs with a 350 and then later on change over to a new engine? Thanks RJ Winkler

RE: [Chevelle-list] Front Suspension
Yes and no, depends on the year and options involved. For example, 1967 shows 25 different front springs for Chevelles, 5 of those for 138xx (SS) cars; one each for hardtop and convertible, different spring (but same for both) if either have A/C, and a different spring yet for both if F40 equipped. Many are listed for small block cars with same options. A standard 13817 (67 SS hardtop) spring coded AA is also listed for 15 other non-SS Chevelles depending on series/model/suspension/and options. Granted most aftermarket companies like Moog, TRW, etc. pare these down to just a few sets. What year are you working on and what equipment (e.g., AC or not) will it have when done? Re: [Chevelle-list] El Camino bed covers
Clint.. I replied to the original thread on TC. I have one of the first original Gaylord covers on my 65, it was textured . I used a DA and smoothed it ( a tree fell on the bed and broke it so I could not re create a smooth textured repair) . It's also the old style that follows the body top rail.. My 85 El-Camino has the Smooth black Gaylord lid... The finish to smooth and the black gel coat STRAIGHT All the mounting hardware is Stainless Steel , hinges included,, with gas struts. My only thing is there locking scheme. It used a barrel key. and you must unlock each side. as compared to the 65 which had one KEY and locked to a bracket you installed on the inside top of the tail gate.. go to TC my show room you can see them there @ Waynek#186 Southern Red Neck ! Re: [Chevelle-list] mice
Iwrote about this a few months ago. Mice need water. Put water in a bucket about half way. Make it easy to get to top of bucket. They will try to drink and will fall in.Oh my they can't swim and they drown. Using anti freeze could be in harms way if you have a cat or dog. Almost any large container will work. I then send them to the Great Sewage Pond aka Down the Toilet. Larry (Z)

RE: [Chevelle-list] Front Suspension
RJ, I have some info on 69 springs but its not as detailed as the 67 stuff. Two charts at http://www.chevellestuff.com/69velle/front_springs.htm show the (1) Assembly Code number and specs and (2) spring used by sprung weight sadly, not very informative for us laymen. A big block will add about 200 lbs over the 350 with all else being equal.
