Writing network script [7:10818]
All Can anyone give any advise (or provide links) on the processes required to write a network script. eg I'm trying to write a script from a central location to change the passwords on all the switches and routers OR unify the router/switch banners etc. I have a feeling it might be similar to using an NTP server for your clock but I'm not sure. MSFC IP helper-addressing [7:9736]
All Has anyone encountered extremely high CPU processing (over 90%) when IP helper addressing has been configured over MSFCs (not dedicated routers)? On my network, this command produced very bad performance problems. However, I must stress that the command was used for broadcasting (xxx.xxx.xxx.255) and also specified for single hosts. Cisco documentation says this is possible on routers and although specified protocols are forwarded, the performance was extremely poor on MSFC. IOS is 12.1(7a) If you have had this problem, how did you rectify it (apart from removing the command)? ISDN/BRI problems [7:1939]
Group, My problem is with an isdn connection to a 1603 router. I have tried, tested and use this line on another router and I have no problem. But as soon as I connect the ISDN to the 1603, I don't get any synchronisation between the D channel and the ISDN switch (isdn switch-type is configured) sh controller BRI, sh isdn stat etc indicate inactive status on level 1. When I try debugging all isdn events, I get nothing. What baffles me is that the sh int bri0 shows line up protocol up (spoofing) which is an indication of activity on the D channel while waiting for a call to be made. I really can't understand this. I am trying to avoid concluding that my router BRI is dead. Has anyone got any local tests to convince me that the problem might be the physical BRI? RE: Unbreakable Auth on Router?
I had this problem last week. Emulating a break sequence did the trick as shown below. This is useful if your terminal emulator doesn't support the break key, or if a bug prevents it from sending the correct signal (the hyperterminal under Windows NT used to suffer from this behavior): Connect to the router with the following terminal settings: 1200 baud rate No parity 8 data bits 1 stop bit No flow control You will no longer be able to see any output on your screen. This is normal. Reload the router and press the spacebar for 10-15 seconds. This generates a signal similar to the break sequence. Disconnect your terminal and reconnect with a 9600 baud rate. You should now be in ROM Monitor mode. Hopefully this would help others as well with this type of problem.
