Bootstrap ver vs. Config IOS ver?

2001-01-11 Thread Max Rion

Hi, all. Long time no see.

I was studying CMTS 7300 series and got a problem on S/W. Bootstrap ver was
11.0 and I got configration made under IOS 12.0, then while booting it said
'Configuration under 12.0 can't be understood...'. Well, I thought I must
uprgade bootstrap ver but someone said it was hardware problem.

OK, networkers, I ask you these questions. What is bootstrap? How can I
upgrade bootstrap? Does it have something to do with IOS versrion? If I
upgarde IOS to 12.0 then there might be no such messages?

And one more thing - If I have flash card in slot0 with 11.0 and same card
in slot1 with 12.0 and boot up the machine, then it reads only 11.0, right?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Jennifer and another simple questions!

2001-01-12 Thread Max Rion

Thanks for your heartful reply! Think u will help me a lot many times. :)

Well another simple question are here

1. Difference between 'reset' and 'reload' command!

2. In uBR 924, there are some led and DSNR is one of them. Is it Digital
Signal to Noise Ratio? When checking SNR in IOS, the smaller numbers
(including minus figures) are the better performancer than bigger ones?

3. When uBR 924 couldn't give IPs to the connected LANs (not because boot
problems but somewhat problems unknown), someone said this as 'Ranging
problem'. Is it correct?

4. When you use 'show stac'?

WowI think I am getting better because of you all. Thanks for letting me
asking on! Have a nice day!

TACACS+ privilege level question.

2001-01-16 Thread Max Rion

Hi, questioning again.

We sometimes configure TACACS+ with some levels on. Well, if so, we know
that 15 is the most powerful level and 0 is the lowest level (Seeing the
Cisco homepage 'privilege level 1 = non-privileged (prompt is router>), the
default level for login privilege level 15 = privileged (prompt is router#),
the level after going into enable mode privilege level 0 = seldom-used, but
includes 5 commands: disable, enable, exit, help, and logout).

Then what are between them? As example, what can we do with level 6? Would
all of you please tell me what I can do with each level more specific (what
commands can I use in each levels 2 from 14, and what are differences among
them)?

I need it quickly, so I hopefully beg your kindnesses!

Have a nice day and thanks in advance.

Is there anyone passed CCNP recertification exams? [7:26813]

2001-11-19 Thread Max Rion

Hi, members. =)

Since I got my CCNP cert 3 years ago, now it is time to recertify my CCNP!
As all of you who got CCNP in 1998 might know, I have never thought that
2001 would come while I am living...^.^;

Well, anyways, expiration date is coming and now I'd better prepare the
horrible CCNP exams. I have searched here and there on the web, but there
were not enough informations.

'Is there anyone who passed CCNP recertification exam?' is what I am asking
here. Some informations I have found out are, 1. The exam is consisted of 4
courses combination (CIT, BSCN, BCMSN, BCRAN - I was tested with ACRC, CLSC,
CMTD and CIT 3 years ago. What the hell are BSCN, BCMSN, BCRAN!! Haha..^.^).
2. Test time is about 120 minutes. 3. Question numbers are from 100 to 115.

O.K. I am wondering wheather the questions for recertification CCNP are just
drawn exactly 'same' from the currently 4 CCNP tests or not. Of course some
questions may be changed, but I hope lots of part would be just same as
currently running exams. It is because I don't want buy any more books about
CCNP...$P.$P If renewal questions come out, I should buy some books more and
more...

Well, hope to listen from you soon, senior CCNPs.

Best of luck,
Maxx

p.s ; Oh, I forgot saying re-CCDP is coming up...^.^

(Urgent) Split tunneling OK on Clinet S/W but not 3002! [7:28388]

2001-12-07 Thread Max Rion

Hi, memebers. ^.^/

I have been working with VPN Concentrator 3080, 3005 and H/W client 3002
these days (also VPN client S/W too!) and I could succeed on VPN + VoIP...=)

However, I have no idea why split tunneling is on when using VPN S/W, but
not on using 3002 VPN client H/W. Wow, quite funny, isn't it?

Everything (VoIP and connecting intranet) is fine except split tunneling.
All traffics go through 3005 at center. Whenever I trace a site in N/W list,
it shows S/T is working fine (it doesn't show middle of the way) but tracing
other site not in N/W list also shows S/T for this address is working (it
does NOT show middle of the way there neither!). Ha, I can see those two
shows different results when I use VPN S/W (I mean when I trace to address
S/T listed, it does not show the way but it shows ALL THE IPs to this
address not listed on S/T). Setting on 3005 is just same when using 3002 and
using VPN S/W.

I did all as Cisco says on manual, even on saying the Cisco engineer. I just
upgraded the latest version on 3005 and 3002 and the result is same.

What shall I do now? H/W can't split tunneling but only S/W can? Is it
natural?
Plz advice me, members...=) Thanks in advance!

Best regard,

Maxx.
