Make NO mistake who the target of that attack was - the loss of anyone to

RE: 9/11 [7:53084]

2002-09-11 Thread Roberts, Larry

Bill,

Your American centered attitude is why Americans have the reputation that WE
do ( Yes I am 100% American ).

You need to realize that Many died in that attack and we should remember all
the victims of it, not just the Americans that were the original attack
target. If the terrorist were able to plan this attack with so much
precision don't you think they were aware that citizens of other nations
would also be in there?

I was once like you and thought that the world revolved around the US of A.
I had the opportunity to travel overseas and see that while we do have a
major impact in the societies of the world, we are not the end-all, be-all
that our media would have us believe. As you grow older, you will hopefully
have the opportunity to travel and see that this is in fact the case.

My first response to you was off-line, politely explaining that ALL that
died should be remembered, not just Americans. Now I feel I must defend
those of Americans that realize that ALL life is important, regardless of
race,nationality,religious belief ( I happen to be a
White,American,Christian ).

I believe that you are confusing today with Memorial day and Veterans Day,
both which are distinctly AMERICAN holiday's, originally meant to honor
AMERICANS.

9/11 was a world event, as evidence by the memorials being held all over the
globe.

I think that it is completely foolish that we even have to have this
discussion at all, let alone a Cisco Group Study mailing list.

Can we please go back to the Cisco topics at hand?

Thanks

Larry

not that I am made of ice or something like, but isn't it enough already? we

Let's not also forget that this is a international list. People have

I don't think it's a good idea to generalize this day as a day to remember
all people who have given their lives for their respective countries,
because it generalizes and trivializes the tragedy of September 11th. These
people didn't give their lives for their country; they were innocents, just
living their daily lives, and they were slaughtered. That is what needs to
be remembered today; a specific act of murder carried out on a group of
people whose only fault that morning was that they came in to work. What
nationality they were, doesn't matter. They were all victims, in the purest
sense of the word.

America is great and wonderful and the entire world knows it. Don't let

I second this as the only solution that could stop the violence.
If we stop paying 50+ Billion Dollars a year ( which equals to 150 Million a
day, which equals to $10,000/year to every individual of its citizens) they
would have no motivation to continue the violence.
Ask yourself this question: Would they receive this kind of generous income
from USA if there were peace and scerenity in that area?

Let's stop the violence, Don't feed the animals.

doesn't deal with external policy cases fairly - I won't give examples
because they are quite clear - then don't blame anyone for defending his
right to live peacefully like you already do. Double standards is over
killing everywhere. It's something that just brings depression and
frustration. May God bless all those victims who have been killed in
9/11 and may God give us all the wisdom to wish good for others as much
as we wish it for ourselves, to give them the right to live in peace as
much we wish for ourselves, to give them the right to prosper as much we
wish for ourselves, to give them the right to choose their destiny.

People, People

I am sorry I started this thread. I just wanted to state a day in
remembrance. Period end!! I did not mean for this to erupt into a political
point of view. Lets move forward!!

In remembering this day, let us PLEASE not start criticizing America.
America is great and wonderful and the entire world knows it. Don't let
those who pretend to have a higher insight convince you otherwise. Also,
do
not let those who are jealous of America convice you it's bad. There does
not exist a single nation in this world that has not at one time or
another
benefitted from America, it's power, or it's generosity. So today, just
remember those who were victims and those who were helping victims.

All that I meant was that let us also remember people who died for their
country. As an example - the Vietnam War, the Kuwait war, etc, for US.

For other countries, it could be the Iran Iraq war, India Pak war, etc.

That's all and now quit pounding me!

Sujal,

No. Today is about remembering the innocent American lives that were lost at
the hands of ruthless terrorists. Those terrorists also thought they were
dying for their country. We will not in any way honor them.

Sujai,

No offense but you don't get it.. First of all this is not the right forum
to be debating about a Memorial Day buy simply just a rememberance for the
tragic event that occurred last year. I don't think that it is a lot to ask
for and if you don't agree nor have a bit of sympathy and / or empathy than
you should just leave it alone and keep your comments to yourself.

Thank Youand God Bless America!!

RE: 9/11 [7:53084]

2002-09-11 Thread Theodore Stout

I agree with this. Trivializing and generalizing the death of 1000s of
people on this day can not be tolerated at all. It was wrong and about
the only people who could possibly be considered as non-victims would be
those who were working at the Pentagon. But even then, we can not
tolerate the usage of innocent civilians to conduct a war-like attack on a
military facility. It is simply wrong.

When I looked at Sujal's post, I personally thought he was talking about
all people throughout time. I can see why some people would protest this.
In a French way of thinking, this would necessitate remembering and
crying over Osama, Hitler, and other infamous people in history. Perhaps
what Sujal wanted to say was all innocent people who died on that day
regardless of nationality.

As for this debate, come on Jake, don't you know that a bunch of Cisco
engineers with time on their hands just love a good fight? :-)
Personally, this is quite tame compared to the death and hatred we saw a
year ago. Debate and conversation is healthy, being a terrorist is not.

May all of us remember the victims, continue on with life and remember to
love each otherwhile yes taking jabs at the other person's idiotic
configs!

I don't think it's a good idea to generalize this day as a day to remember
all people who have given their lives for their respective countries,
because it generalizes and trivializes the tragedy of September 11th.
These
people didn't give their lives for their country; they were innocents,
just
living their daily lives, and they were slaughtered. That is what needs to
be remembered today; a specific act of murder carried out on a group of
people whose only fault that morning was that they came in to work. What
nationality they were, doesn't matter. They were all victims, in the
purest
sense of the word.
