From what I can remember, the only section I did bad on was the first one, Security Protocols, where I got 40% correct. OS section and Cisco (both sections) were all 85% Others were in between 60 and 70%. This test was not quite as hard as the CCIE Design exam which I failed by 6 and 8 points, but I would put them in the same category of unnecesary difficulty and poorly designed tests. But the lab for CCIE Security is definitely going to be the coolest : Maybe the CCIE SP lab will beat it. Of course, there's always this new Cisco Security specialization: CCNA - MCNS - CSPFA - CSIDS - CSVPN (CCNP not required anymore) An interesting, albeit quick and easy path to certification. I get the feeling that those exams are cake, however. If we are just talking sheer numbers of pass/fail on CCIE written exams, I am talking about: Exam Pass rate R/S 42% WAN 36% ISP Dial47% SNA/IP 25% Design 16% Security?? So, these exams are pretty difficult because Cisco makes them that way. The Design exam, for sure. Where do you think Security fits? I am guessing 20%, but I haven't heard anyone pass yet, so maybe it's much lower then the Design 16% figure. I will be interested in finding out how the CCIE SP written exam will be structured. -dre I received my results yesterday as well. I also missed it by 2 points. However, as I am starting to work towards security as a specialization for my career, I'm not going to be able to pull myself away. However, being that there is apparently some security showing up in the lab, there is definitely overlap. Does anyone have any idea as to whether that will change when the Security lab comes out? All, I don't know if anyone else got their Score Report but I received = mines yesterday and I'm still in denial. Yes, denial! When I took the = exam I really felt that the test itself was reasonable and well written. = I must admit that when taking the exam it almost felt like the RS exam = with a bunch of security. In any event I missed the grade. From the = score sheet it does shoe me that I was week in security and Application = protocols. Well here's the breakdown; Security Protocols: 45 (Ouch...!) I took the CCIE Security beta test(and studied for it), too, and I won't be surprised to get similar results. It's a beta test! The exam outline was good, but not great. I'll bet you the test changes some when it goes live. I've taken about 3 dozen cert tests and the thing I've noticed is that, with Cisco tests, until you sit down to them, you really don't get a great feel for how they'll be, and this one was that way. It's my field, and I like it, so I'll take this sucker as many times as I need to, and, God help me, I enjoyed it. I count myself lucky to get to take the beta and be in on the ground floor of a CCIE that's going places. It's the best fifty bucks I've spent recently, whether I ever get the cert or not.
