Paul,

You said this is a very large list. I'm curious, how many do we have?

As far as the spams go, there really haven't been that many. Thanks for the
work.

Yea I have some ideas in the works. Frankly it has not been a problem on
this list and the current anti-spam measures I have put in place seem to be
working. But occasionally we get one or two through.

This is a very large list and regular techniques do not always work. On
smaller list you can simply block messages from those that are not
registered for the mailing list. But this list is not simply a mailing
list. What about the people that use the newsfeed? Or Website?

So what I plan to do is require first-time posters to authenticate first.
Once they authenticate, the message will be delivered normally. Any
additional messages will be delivered without authentication.

So the spammer will need to use a valid From: address and take the time to
authenticate. Which most do not.

2002-01-18 Thread Buri, Heather L.

Paul,

I apologize. Didn't mean to start anything. I love this list and have
learned lots from it. I don't mind the occasional spammer. Like
another person said, I can always just use my trusty old delete key.
:-) I think I was just short my usual dose of caffeine this morning so
maybe I was a little testy.

Re: Setup a Home-Lab or spend that money on Rack t [7:19319]

2001-09-10 Thread jc0

Well, I will suggest a small home lab that is not costly, then use some
online remote lab rental to do more complex scenarios to prepare for the
more real CCIE lab exam.

You could find some great online lab at lower cost on eBay.com. Sometimes
they have those on auctions at even lower price during promotion. Here is
one that I would recommend:

Networkforce.com

Have Fun !

Setup a Home-Lab or spend that money on Rack time [7:19319]

2001-09-10 Thread

Just a question :-

1. Should one spend money on setting up a home-lab. If so, then what are the
exercises that one uses to practise on ? If you buy one of the subscriptions,
would it not be better then to buy their Rack time as well, since their racks
would be setup in line with their lab-subsription exercise itself ?

Which brings me to my second question of course

2.Should one spend the money on a lab-subscription with adequate Rack time to
try all their examples twice ot thrice over ?

Just a little confused on which way to go with the money ? Any advice
would be really appreciated

Check some online job posting places and just see what's going for what
salary.

Location and its market demand is going to influence things heavily as well,
so you should also consult a salary/cost-of-living calculator if it looks

This email was addresses to "undisclosed recipients". I did not ask to be
included on that list so he must have used the groupstudy list to create his
list. Regardless of his intentions, that makes this spam. Using the
groupstudy subscriber list to create spam email lists is not considered to
be acceptable use and that is why Paul is concerned.

If you are working for Cisco, or just got an offer from Cisco...

...rumor has it that Cisco management has adopted a policy NOT to *lose* any

(more) employees to Juniper. In other words, if you received an offer from
Cisco, just tell them that you also have an offer from Juniper and Cisco
will offer you more :-).

Also, if you work for Cisco, and you tell them that you have an offer from
Juniper, Cisco will give you a counter offer. Of course I would not say
this to your boss unless you are prepared to leave...and you know that you
are needed at Cisco.

I agree! The Boson exams (www.boson.com) are great. I've used them for most

boson self-test is great! Has anyone got any tips for the security exam

If you really want to learn and not just pass the test, Boson is made for you.
It is not made like an exam cram that makes you just memorize the answers
without the supporting reason.

I am using it now for the Security exam. MCNS and it is beatiful.
With every question, you get the answer, the reason why that answer is correct
and most probably, a link to a source where you can find more information. I
have used it for every test that I have taken and I have enjoyed it.

I've used Boson to help with every test Ive
takenCCNA/CCDA/CCNP and now
I passed the CCIE written this morning.

They are definitely usefulespecially at
the minimal price. The ccie written I just
used definitely had some errors but
I still think its well worth the $30.

2000-10-04 Thread Ariel

I am trying to learn, not only pass the exam. I think I'm ready. However,
I would like a leg up too and not waste money on taking the exam.

What is your two cents? Should I purchase it? One or all three?

RE: Money

2000-09-22 Thread Marshal Schoener

I know MCSEs that are making much less than 45k a year, and MCSEs that are
making
MUCH more than 65k a year!!!
For them it depends on the job responsibilities, and experience...

For CCIEs, there are companies that will hire full time for well over
100k a year. But, there is much more money to be made in consulting
where I know of a person making over $150 an hour!!!
At even 30 hours a week, do the math :-)

It all depends on what you are looking for

With only 3,000 to 4,000 CCIE's in the world, what is the expected
salary at that level? I only ask this because if there are so few, what
kind of pay range do they command? I know that MCSE's are paid anywhere
from 45,000 to 65,000 depending on where you live and how big the company
is. But let's not get into a certification debate, I know the CCIE is MUCH
higher on the technical level than a MCSE. I am just wondering the salary
range for CCIE's

2000-09-15 Thread Bradley J. Wilson

No no no, you guys have it all wrong...this isn't about money...he mentioned
a decline in Morales, and he's absolutely right - Hector Morales (star of
such comedy classics as "Oh God," "Herbie Goes Bananas," and "Three Amigos")
hasn't done *any* work since 1988's "Out of the Dark"!

How in the world can this be considered "a decline in morales"? Maybe I'm
naive but how does this have anything to do with my morales? When you go to
the store and purchase something, what are you doing? Wait I'll answer YOU
ARE PAYING FOR IT. If there's an auction for something and you outbid
someone, what is that? Wait I'll answer YOU ARE PAYING FOR IT. As far as
I'm concerned you 2 don't have a clue. Are you both self employed? NO,
then by that standard you are "IT whores" also. you are providing services
to someone else, and whether you are small minded enough to think you are
actually being paid show's your stupidity. If making more money helps me
support my family, then I'll pay 100 bucks to get another shot at a

OK since there were no responses I'll pay 50 dollars for a November date and
100 dollars for October! After the swap is complete of course.

For the thinking question writer... money !!

2000-08-16 Thread sougata maitra

Hi
i read a posting somewhere sometime back abt the
company techmindworks.com wanting a few exceptional
question writers for ccna/ccnp. (they get a percentage
of whats sold)
i thought i was good enough and had applied..lol
just now i received an email saying i wasnt selected.
anyway i am sending this message so that someone could
benefit from it.
they need people for ccnp.
so if u have the examiners mindset u could contact
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
btw u need to have passed the relevant exam to write
questions for that test. and they expect u to honor yr
NDA. (thats what i liked best abt them)

best of luck to the aspiring ones.
regards
mike
