RE: Loading IOS [7:61413]

2003-01-22 Thread Lauren Child
As far as Im aware you can only use the ATA flash disks on Windows PCs, and
not the older linear flash PCMCIA cards. Itd probably use a different
filesystem anyway, although Ive not tried it.

There is a Linux utility to access cisco filesystems on pcmcia
card.http://www.si.org/cffs/

Hope that helps :)

Try this link:

It should be ok, but check the IOS version!

If you have a flash card formattet on a 3660 router try to read
it on your 3640. Cisco has 3? different filesystems for flash
cards. E.g. the format on a 7000/7500 or 6500 router / switch is
different than on a 3640. Try to search cisco, com for flash card
filesystems.

RE: Loading IOS / OT Now [7:61413]

2003-01-21 Thread William Pearch
The BayRS does have some very cool features.

My favorite was the modularity of the software - if you didn't want a
feature you built your software package without it. The only way you wound
up with a bloated OS was if you either needed all the bling blings or if it
was loaded by someone that didn't know what they wanted. With Cisco IOS, if
I want Frame Relay SVC's on a 3640 I have to get a bloated 'Enterprise' IOS
load that has more knobs then I'll ever use!

The biggest problem(s) with the Bay/Wellfleet routers? There was that baby
poop brown color... Lack of marketing skills... Not enough blinkie
lights... a terrible web page... fairly shallow product lineup... and they
weren't percieved as a leader in the market, but a follower. When Bay
bought the Accellar I thought they were on to something and then Nortel
happened. That's not a bad or a good thing - just change. Never
underestimate the importance of blinking lights.

mea culpa!!! When I "tested" the file copy I inserted the flash in
slot 1 of the 3660 but read slot 0:( After reading your post and URL I
got to wondering so I went back and tested it correctly and

YES THE FILE SYSYTEMS ARE COMPATIBLE!!!

Actually, if you are using Windows 2000, you can insert a PCMCIA flash
card in a free slot of your laptop and have the OS seeing it as another
hard disk removable drive on which you can copy files.

You just can drag and drop any file you want on that, including IOS
images.

I use this method regularly and I have no problems. (your mileage may
vary)

Maurizio

I actually had a similar concern a few weeks ago. According to this
link, it IS in fact possible for Mario to do so, because all 3600
routers appear to use filesystem class "B".

If the flash cards are compatible in each of the platforms,
you can copy it
Not all cisco platforms use the same cards

Re: Loading IOS on a 4000M [7:35689]

2002-02-18 Thread Georg Pauwen

Hi Gragg,

here is what I found on the Open Forum:

Question: What does this errormessage mean:"%NIM-2-BADNIMID: Bad NIM ID
(Oxe) in slot 1.- mean? Process = "*Init*", level=5- Traceback = 1031db8
103d42 103fe70 103d01e 100d068 100058c 10086d8 10001"Cisco 4000, software
10.2(2)?

Answer: Bus communication on this device has failed. This could be due to a
hardware or a software failure (most likely cause is hardware). Please open
a case with the TAC and discuss this with an engineer.

Other things to try are re-seating the NIM, starting the router with no
interfaces attached, and check the power available to make sure it is within
spec (i.e low voltage, spikes). Other causes include installing the NIM
without the proper version of IOS (i.e 4T with 9.1).

Regards,

Georg

2002-02-17 Thread Daniel Cotts

Note The six-port Ethernet module is supported on all Cisco 4000 series
routers except the Cisco 4000 and Cisco 4000-M.
From: (watch the wrap)

Check the GroupStudy archives. I seem to remember that someone put the 4000
Flash in a 2500 and loaded the image that way. Then moved the flash back to
the 4000.

Hi

I don't think the NP-6E is supported on the 4000-M... only the 4500 and
4700.

2002-02-17 Thread ME

Your np-6e cards may not be bad, you may just need newwer IOS to recognise
them. If you have another router connect them via the serial cards and tftp
new code into the 4000M.

RE: Loading IOS

2000-06-29 Thread Taylor, Don

I found it hard to believe there was nothing like that on the 3600, but
after a pretty extensive search on CCO I could only find
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/701/59.html#rommon, which describes how to
do it via xmodem only. And on http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/471/ I see
the 2600 and 3600 listed right together; the 2600 includes a how-to on
downloading via tftpdnld, but not the 3600. Very odd. What kind of menu to
you get when you hit the help key?

I believe the copy tftp flash should work for this. I am working with a
6500 w/ MSFC PFC right now and that seems to work.

Good luck,

Subject:Loading IOS

Hi ,

I have loaded IOS on 2600 series router using the tftpdnld command ,
but
this
command is not available on the 3600 series . Is there a similar
command in
3600 series router that I can use to copy IOS image from tftp
server.

I want to avoid using xmodem transfer , its too slow .

thanks
