priority queuing

2000-11-29 Thread Marshal Schoener

Can a 1601 router with IOS 11.3 can handle priority queueing
over a serial interface (frame-relay)?

Thanks a million in advance!

Priority Queuing [7:46108]

2002-06-08 Thread Jarred Nicholls

I setup access-lists as such:

access-list 101 permit ip any 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0
access-list 102 permit ip any 192.168.1.2 0.0.0.0

then I made the priority-list:

priority-list 1 protocol ip high list 101
priority-list 1 protocol ip low list 102

My question is, would this make any packet that comes into the interface
(whatever interface i implemented the priority-list on) have higher priority
going to host 192.168.1.1 over 192.168.1.2? Basically I'm wondering if that
setup above would work. I did not actually set that scenario up but I
wanted to know for my own personal knowledge if the extended access list
would work like that with priority queuing :-) Thanks for the help!

2002-06-08 Thread sunil sunilindia

Hi,

I think this should work weel, But I dont think you need an extended access
list for implementing this as you you want the 192.168.1.1 to be given High
priority over 192.168.1.2, You are not specifying any Particular traffic
from 192.168.1.1 to be given high priority.

Well if you want I can do this in my Lab and tell you.

Thank you
Sunil ,CCNP

Sunil,

Yes that would be great if you could do that in your lab. I'd appreciate
it. The reason I used extended access list is because I want to queue
traffic for the "destination" 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.1, not the source
address. And extended uses destination addresses as part of the
calculation. Thanks again!

"Priority-queuing-weighted-fair-queuing" [7:1853]

2001-04-25 Thread Cthulu

Hi,all,

I just finished Caslow, 2nd ed. In the chapter on queuing, he very briefly
mentions a beast called "priority-queuing weighted fair queuing". The two
alone, I get; however, I am unable to find any info on the Cisco site about
the merger (if you can call it that) that results in "PQ-WFQ".

Was Caslow smoking crack, or does have a line to Madame Cleo where he can
see technologies before they are actually here?

Can someone give me some links to the official Cisco PQ-WFQ pages/docs?

Thanks,

Charles

How do I verify that priority queuing works ?

2000-10-27 Thread Piatnitchi Cristian

Hi all

I set-up the priority queuing.
How do I verify that priority queuing works on a serial interface (or on any
other kind of interface ) ?
Is there any IOS command for that ?
Does anybody want to explain me ?

Thanks in advance

I believe this is the concept behind LLQ, the queuing mechanism that cisco
propeses in order to have strict QoS (specially with VoIP over high traffic
netowrks)

Caslow talks about LLQ by itself, and then talks about this weird PQ-WFQ
thing. I am going to crack the book again tonight and reread this section.
In the meantime, if anyone can point me to a link, I would be grateful...

Re: "Priority-queuing-weighted-fair-queuing" [7:1853]

2001-04-25 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

- Priority Queueing and Weighted Fair Queueing are normally very different
and distinctive queue mechanisms, each with their own idiosyncrasies.

As Cisco struggles to find the QoS nirvana the rules are changing. . .

Low Latency Queuing via Class Based Weighted Fair Queueing, a feature
that seemed to start around in 12.0.7T, combined priority with CB-WFQ.

The way I understand it, when the priority keyword is used to invoke low
latency queueing instead of the bandwidth keyword, the policy map class
that contains the priority is dequeued first and sent over those that do
not.
It appears that LLQ is meant for real time streams such as video and
voice,
but I do not see why it could not be used with other data types just as
easily.

There are examples of this on CCO, try searching using low latency
queueing
  as the search phrase.

Re: How do I verify that priority queuing works ?

2000-10-29 Thread Frank B.

Well you can do a quick check of your queue config with "show queuing."
But to actually see the results on an active link try running "debug
priority" from the console.

If you're telnetting to the box don't forget to turn on "term mon" or
you won't see the results from your telnet session. Aloha, Frank
