Re: [CnD] Pickled boiled eggs
There are several versions of pickled eggs, Here is one. 1 small can of beets 1 onion cut into rings (sliced thin) 6 eggs Hard boiled and peeled. Place in jar that has a lid. Drain juice of beets in a pan. add 3/4 cup of cider vinegar, couple cloves of garlic, roughly chopped salt and pepper to taste. I also add a teaspoon of hot crushed pepper. This is optional or to taste. one bay leave 3 to 6 whole cloves 1/3 cup of sugar. Bring to a boil and make sure the sugar is incorporated into the juice and pour over eggs Place in refrigerator with a tight lid on the jar. Let set for a week and enjoy. - Original Message - From: Kerry Friddell via Cookinginthedark cookinginthedark@acbradio.org To: cookinginthedark@acbradio.org Sent: Thursday, June 05, 2014 12:27 PM Subject: [CnD] Pickled boiled eggs I would appreciate someone posting a recipe for Pickled boiled eggs. Re: [CnD] Pickled boiled eggs
I do it the really really lazy way. I keep the brine of a jar of pickles, and if I want it a tad spicy, I put in a few tablespoons of the juice from a jar of sliced jalapeno peppers. then put in your hard-boiled eggs; you can also do this with sliced, boiled hot dogs. anyway, using the brine this way, you can only use it twice, then discard, and use from another newly-purchased jar of pickles. I prefer doing it with the brine of sweet pickles. [CnD] Chicken figers and what's for dinner
Tonight was chicken finger night and I didn't feel like woking or baking, so this is what I did. Got out one of my cast iron skillets. Put a little olive oil in the bottom of the pan. Sliced up a couple cloves of garlic. Put them in the oil and got the skillet hot. Put the chicken in and set the timer to 5 minutes. Than flipped the chicken over and added a little salt and pepper over the top of the chicken. Sprinkled on some parmesan cheese and place a lid over the skillet. Cooked the chicken for another five minutes. In the mean time i baked a couple sweet potatoes in the microwave for about 8 minutes. One minutes before the chicken was done I added another minute to the potatoes to make sure they were hot. At the start of frying the chicken fingers, I placed some broccoli in a steamer and steamed it as the chicken was frying. Poured a couple glasses of wine and had a good healthy meal. Just one thing: you gorgot to invite us over. Can I have mine without cheese? Allergic to dairy. Nots: You can cook frozen fishsticks like this, hash brown potato patties, chicken breast patties, popcorn chicken, and many such frozen treats. When my George forman grill died which is also good for this kind of thing) I discovered this method, especially in summer when you don't want to turn on the oven. Also, doesn't necessitate turning things over. Further note: those frozen Chimmy Changa burritos are bomb on the forman grill but can't fy in the pan. Remember, the burritos will be a little flattened by the grill but they taste delicious. *smile* Regina Marie Phone: 916-877-4320 Email: reginamariemu...@gmail.com Follow me: http://www.twitter.com/mamaraquel Find Me: http://www.facebook.com/reginamarie Listen Live: http://www.jandjfm.com -Original Message- From: Cookinginthedark [mailto:cookinginthedark-boun...@acbradio.org] On Behalf Of RJ via Cookinginthedark Sent: Thursday, June 05, 2014 3:30 PM To: citd Subject: [CnD] Chicken figers and what's for dinner Tonight was chicken finger night and I didn't feel like woking or baking, so this is what I did.
