[Csgo_servers] 6 hours for the server update to be fixed?

2019-10-08 Thread Kristin Adderley
I suppose this list really isn't used much any more (mostly for the best
given previous arguments), but I was surprised to see no mention of last
night's update. What was the cause / fix? From an outside perspective, it
looked like the update went through, but the server version reported didn't
match the client version so nobody could connect. My server provider sent
28 emails seeing a new update, and I tried running the update script
personally to see what was up. The update did seem to go through but
nothing changed.

I only run a non-often-used retakes server, but I'm sure other server
owners were more badly affected, and third-party systems like Faceit also
were.

Re: [Csgo_servers] Exploit that spams/lags clients

2018-04-25 Thread Kristin A
Okay this latest BS _is_ actually relevant to CS so I'm responding again.
There were two servers that were handing out Steam IDs back then;
STEAM_0:1: just represents the alternate. There is no such thing as WON ID
to Steam, they were merely incremental.

Signed, STEAM_0:1:12*** who knows that the MAC address on the ethernet
frame is only used in the local domain, and has worked in network
engineering for over 14 years.

As an independent contractor, I'm going to assume you "fix" people's broken
networks by spreading FUD then correcting a problem that was never there in
the first place? What kind of incompetent people do you think frequent this
list; people abusing !ws and !knife, allow uploads ever from clients, and
gawd knows what other insecure rubbish?

Nobody is harassing you; instead, they're responding to your vagueries that
are about as useful as that spambot that was here last year, and your
search results that are obsolete.

Just as a quick aside, I am a network engineer and Monso is correct.
0.0.0.0 is used in configurations though as a wildcard for routing all
traffic. I know this is moot as it was merely an example, but ip addresses
that are outside RFC boundaries used on TV are quite irksome, though
obviously are there to avoid actual ips being compromised.

Re: [Csgo_servers] Weapons Disappearing Randomly

2014-06-20 Thread Kristin A
Don't think it is just single client side. Having frequented Michael's
servers multiple people report this. I know it's happened to me with no
loss/choke.
On Jun 20, 2014 11:25 AM, Florin Chelaru florinchel...@yahoo.com wrote:

 Hi,

I agree with David Parker (this problem is only on the client side).
It happens to me when I have problems with my ISP. There are some packet
routing problems and for a second in 10 to 20 minutes, one or two packets
are lost. Now, depends on the moment it happens:
 1. If it was the respawn moment at the beggining of the round, the
weapon/hand/all dissapears till the next round.
 2. If it was when I got killed, the label with the killer and his weapon
remains on the screen till the next time when I will be killed.
 3. If it was when I just picked up an M4A4 weapon, I can see the silencer
(M4A1-S), but when I shot, the animation (with flame) is from M4A4 (without
 silencer and with M4A4 sounds).

Hope this info will help someone. I assume that this issues are from my bad
internet connection and don't need troubleshooting.
 Sorry for my bad english...

 Have fun,
 Florin

 game
play better, in which it does , well to me. There are always glitches here

Re: [Csgo_servers] CSGO 1.23.0.4

2013-05-17 Thread Kristin A
AFAIK the flooding affects clients more often than servers and needs to be
implemented by server providers and individuals. Zblock used to handle this
but individuals could still be affected in a DOS attack (which doesn't
necessarily target the game, but the user's IP instead.)

There have been reports of this happening in matchmaking, however, which
suggests some method of retrieving IP addresses by an attacker.
