after spawning the kmail program.

I have an iCal invitation in my INBOX.  Selecting the [Accept] 
link does not cause an equivalent entry to be added to korganiser. 
Instead, in the originating shell (from which I ran kmail), I get the 
following error message:

I ran into problems with mozilla printing too large images. OK, changed
xprt-common's dpi setting to 300 and it strted printing normally.

But this is not a solution - I cannot hardcode 300 for all xprint
applications. 300 is the default on this specific deskjet but I can use
higher reolution or another printer.

Setting global 600 dpi in xprint causes printout to be too large with
my default deskjet settings.

Sending 300 dpi images to 600 or 720 dpi printers is also suboptimal.

So this setting needs to be queried from the printing subsystem about
the current printer (if possible at all - I'm not sure it is) or the
need for this setting should be eliminated.

 and checking the value this early would seem to render LOGUNCLEAN
 invalid, as any unclean packets have already been dropped before it
 gets this far.
 
 I have already changed the newnotsyn file/rule to cope with my
 asymmetric routing needs, but this isn't used until after the packets
 are already dropped.

I got in touch with the upstream author. A solution is proposed in the new
upstream release. Quoting from the changelog:

 Recent 2.6 kernels include code that evaluates TCP packets based on
TCP Window analysis. This can cause packets that were previously   
classified as NEW or ESTABLISHED to be classified as INVALID.   
 
The new kernel code can be disabled by including this command in
your /etc/shorewall/init file:  
  
echo 1  /proc/sys/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_conntrack_tcp_be_liberal
 
Additional kernel logging about INVALID TCP packets may be   
obtained by adding this command to /etc/shorewall/init:   
   
echo 1  /proc/sys/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_conntrack_log_invalid
  
Traditionally, Shorewall has dropped INVALID TCP packets early. The
new DROPINVALID option allows INVALID packets to be passed through 
the normal rules chains by setting DROPINVALID=No.
  
If not specified or if specified as empty (e.g., DROPINVALID=)
then DROPINVALID=Yes is assumed.

The new package will be ready soon.

you translate those messages into a language requiring different word
ordering?  What about a right-to-left language?

Thunderbird crashes when trying to check a signature. I have a mail
(I wrote and signed myself using mutt) on which thunderbird crashes
when it tries to check the signature. This is repeatable. Since I assume
it is the enigmail that is causing this, I have reported ths bug to be a
enigmail bug. If you think that it is thunderbirds fault, please feel
free to forward it as a mozilla-thunderbird bug. I can make this mail available
to the maintainers if needed for debugging. 

When I run thunderbird from a  terminal, this is what I get:

i can confirm Luca's observation on ppc.
so i downloaded 0.9.12, put the debian-directory from 0.9.11 into its
directory, dpkg-buildpackaged and installed it. now the workspaces work
again as expected. you can download it here:

but beware: you might have problems with upgrading when the real
0.9.12-1 comes out. although the debian archive has usually
a higher priority than local debs when it comes to evaluation of the sources.
as for the invisible fonts: do you mean the fonts in the menus? i also
realized their vanishing when _not_ using anti-aliasing.

attached, and has a concurrent probes setup which has been modeled
after Nico's example in #283533.

After upgrading to 1.38, that configuration does not work any more:

the hat package have already been removed from the archive because the
package now fails to build due to its build dependency on nhc98, as seen in

The juice has already been added to P-a-s for this package; the maintainer
has agreed that these binaries should be removed since they cannot be
readily fixed.

In both case /dev/hdc seems to be ignored because it is considered as a 
CDROM drive. This is the case because you have a symlink /dev/cdrom - 
/dev/hdc. Removing it should fix your problem.

hddtemp refuses to monitor a CDROM drive, as it can cause system hangs 
on some cheap drive that are not 100% ATA compliant.

In my Buddy list for Jabber, I somehow ended up with two apparently
identical entries. The info shown when hovering over the entries with
the mouse cursor is the same ([EMAIL PROTECTED], Account:, Subscription,
Status). However, for one of these entries the icon that is shown is 
always that for Offline, even though the Status shown when hovering
over it is Available.

The entries link to the same contact, obviously, as double-clicking one
entry re-uses the message window opened by double-clicking the other
one. What really nags me, though, is that I just cannot delete the
Offline-entry. As soon as I delete it, it just reappears.

Do you know of patches in debian version about those problems ? I have
only guessed best target from the few post i found in google, without
real knowledge of the current ide developments.

yes and no. THe first part , saving the tabs as a bookmarks folder work
per window, so the issue is mostly fixed by saving each window tabs to a
new bookmark folder. Then in the second part opening a new window before
opening folder as tabs.
If there is a lot of tabs per windows that s ok, if you have 80 windows
with only a few tabs for each one, the problem remain.

 In both case /dev/hdc seems to be ignored because it is considered as a 
 CDROM drive. This is the case because you have a symlink /dev/cdrom - 
 /dev/hdc. Removing it should fix your problem.

please let the bug open until you upload a new package and add in the
new package add a hint about this in README.Debian or a
warning/information on the debconf frontend

P.S. you can change the severity to wishlist for the debian.readme

 hddtemp refuses to monitor a CDROM drive, as it can cause system hangs 
 on some cheap drive that are not 100% ATA compliant.

sorry to be so late reporting this to you.
We had a contact sometime ago concerning a crash condition
for pgAdmin III.
Since our first contact I had another similar bug opened 
(#288171) which I decided to keep assigned to pgadmin3
so that noone else loose time figuring out what's going on.

I was about to close this bug today after I saw you uploaded
a new upstream version and just to be sure, I tested pgAdmin
against your new package.
It seems the main problem is not solved:
installed gtk2-engines-gtk-qt
launched pgadmin3 = ok.
configured gtk2-engines-gtk-qt to use another style - qt
launched pgadmin3 = segfault
configured gtk2-engines-gtk-qt back to use my kde style
launched pgadmin3 = segfault

Can you recheck this (maybe this is a local issue due to 
some misconfig on my side...) ?
I'm about to leave for a little more than one week and
will be unreachable during this period of time.

Bug#293492: useradd: by default creates user with unspecified shell, this causes problems

 does not specify shell in /etc/passwd. This creates different problems
 later.

Reproduced here. The main problem is : how the hell did this come in
while shadow had no change but documentation, l10n and a completely
unrelated thing in chpasswd since July 2004.

The changelog mentions this in the past:

  * src/useradd.c: set def_shell to /bin/bash, closes: #48304


However, even in the diff for 4.0.3-26 (which is damn old), I find no
change between the Debian useradd.c and the original one.

To clarify, this isn't a requirement for this removal to happen,
preferably should.

one was merge with a flashplugin bug/konqueror bug then closed.
But the first reports don't talk about flash and report the same amount
of leakage.

Those three bugs should at least be merged. If only to lighten the
burden over branden and takuo arms :)


Thanks for the gimp example, i was able to reproduce it somehow. But
refreshing or opening the same image in another window does not up the
memory usage. Closing the browser free the memory so it may not an
xserver bug. 
It seems like the image stay in the memory cache. I though they ought to
move to disk cache when the window is closed but maybe i was wrong. At
least the memory cache should have a timeout to avoid us who never close
our browser to avoid memory hog.

I read a bit more about xrestop and found out it often underetimate
memory usage (does not take background pixmaps into account).

explain difference between top and xrestop X memory usage.

We have one success report confirming that the new version of partman in
unstable does allow a user to install without corrupting the partition table
geometry.  Getting the fix into sarge should just be a matter of promoting

Please rename the restart option to reload and add a restart option
which stops and then restarts zope.

 use xfs_admin -l /your/device to have some basic check. It prints the label

My pubring.gpg contains curently around 1217 public keys and yesterday
I got the errormessage in mutt, that key  is multiple times in
my pubring and that the fingerprint could not be found.

After checking my ~/.gnupg directory I have found a 60 kByte small
pubring.gpg.  The previously size was around 8.4 MBytes.

This is the fourth or sixth time, I have lost my pubring.gpg.

This must be a bug, because I have already changed the HDD and the
installation (WOODY with backports) is new.

Fortunatly I have all pubkeys exported as backup and can restore
the pubring.gpg, but this not a solution.

I heard no reaction on my previous post about this bug. Should I file 
this bug against tasksel ?

-devel; if foreign characters are necessary, they should be UTF-8
encoded.

In case you're interested, the message ID is
[EMAIL PROTECTED]. I will keep the message
around in case you want to examine it, but I thought it might prevent
this message from getting through if I included it.

I'm not sure where the keys to be pressed are translated but it can't find 
them in the tasksel translation.

Upon apt-get dist-upgrade, or simply apt-get remove --perge etherconf 
then apt-get install etherconf, try not entering a broadcast address. If 
you do this, you will notice that etherconf will not install.  When you 
try to install it a second time with dselect or apt-get, you no longer 
have the dialogues to configure said information. 

I suggest that this be an important bug, because it is a downer to 
people who install debian.

The package runs mkinitrd to build an initial ramdisk
The hardware is using the Dell 'megaraid' controller which was supported as 
megaraid2 under the 2.4 series kernels.
mkinitrd probes the root and finds megaraid2 and add the line to loadmodules 
in the initrd: 

modprobe -k  vesafb  /dev/null 21
modprobe -k  fbcon 2 /dev/null
modprobe -k  unix 2 /dev/null
modprobe -k  megaraid2
modprobe -k  sd_mod 

the version of the megaraid module shipped with the 2.6 kernel is v2, and 
should support the controller just fine

You didn't even bother to look, did you? It's still there and contain
ing the necessary stuff. The problem is that the buildds somehow result

cdbs now has a debian/control autogeneration feature.  You enable it by
using DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_DEBIAN_CONTROL (see the source for details).

With this feature, dependencies (versioned when needed) for debhelper, bzip2,
autotools-dev, gnulib, or even cdbs itself are added to debian/control.

Does that solve your concerns?  Can we close this bug?

The good old discover 1.5.1 reported correctly my es1371 sound card.
Now I upgraded to discover 2, and after a reboot, the sound card died.
It is not an hardware failure, since a knoppix reboot finds perfectly
working sound.
Presently:
$ discover sound
discover: Bus not found.
$
By the way, the packaging system has some trouble with discover: In
upgrading to discover 2, it keeps libdiscover1 1.5.?, which is then
proposed for upgrade to 1.7.?.  At this point, it conflicts with package
discover and a blind acceptance of the dependencies enforcement proposed
by aptitude leads to removal of discover...

I am sorry for not responding earlier. I was on business trip last week.
I was able to print from OpenOffice. Strange thing, from three computers
with approx. the same software installed the problem occurred in two,
and after two days disappeared. It was probably caused by some problems
with packages of non-compliant versions. I have no better idea.

It looks like your system is messed up.  Did you try to purge some packages 
but then stop the operation part way through?

 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg --list libkcal2a
...
 pi  libkcal2a  3.3.2-1KDE calendaring library
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg --status libkcal2a
 Package: libkcal2a
 Status: purge ok installed

These indicate that dpkg thinks you want this package purged, but that it is 
currently installed.  Are you sure all of its dependencies are installed 
correctly?

I suggest trying:

apt-get install libkcal2

And then trying again.

There is HP LaserJet 4L on FreeBSD CUPS 1.1.22 server and CUPS 1.1.21/23
on several Debian
workstations. The PPD on the server defines A4 as the only supported by
the printer
page size. In /etc/openoffice/psprint.conf there is PPD_PageSize=A4 in both
[__Global_Printer_Defaults__] and [Generic Printer]. Same is repeated for
~/.openoffice/1.1.3/user/psprint/psprint.conf.

In this situation Writer and Calc are sending US Letter pages to the
printer, causing
it to hang with PC Load Letter error message. Switching size to A4 from
the print dialog
properties window does not work. Switching from Printer settings and then
printing sometimes
works.

On older Debian machines with CUPS 1.1.21 after replacing
Printer=SGENPRT/Generic Printer
with Printer=ppd with A4 pagesize only/Generic Printer in
/etc/openoffice/psprint.conf
[Generic Printer] section OOo stops to send Letter pages to CUPS printers.
Until now i found
no solution with CUPS 1.1.23.

All other programs work fine.

Another problem with OOo and CUPS 1.1.23 is that when CUPS is working all
printers defined in
~/.openoffice/1.1.3/user/psprint/psprint.conf (or by oopadmin) are hidden,
so there is no way
to use external command to solve the problem.

individual storage locations such as ~/.gconf
