But this is not a solution - I cannot hardcode 300 for all xprint applications. 300 is the default on this specific deskjet but I can use higher reolution or another printer. Setting global 600 dpi in xprint causes printout to be too large with my default deskjet settings. Sending 300 dpi images to 600 or 720 dpi printers is also suboptimal. After a big set of upgrades (including kernel version) today, these asymmetric connections stopped working. I found the culprit: Chain FORWARD (policy DROP 62 packets, 3392 bytes) pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination 45 2557 DROP !icmp -- * * 0.0.0.0/0 0.0.0.0/0 state INVALID [...] This rule is the very first one listed for FORWARD, and the second one for INPUT and OUTPUT (the first one is lo specific). On one hand I suspect this use to work, and with recent kernel versions (2.6.9+) the meaning of INVALID has become more strict. One the other hand, I haven't set dropunclean for any of the interfaces, and checking the value this early would seem to render LOGUNCLEAN invalid, as any unclean packets have already been dropped before it gets this far. I have already changed the newnotsyn file/rule to cope with my asymmetric routing needs, but this isn't used until after the packets are already dropped. Hello, I got in touch with the upstream author. A solution is proposed in the new upstream release. Quoting from the changelog: Recent 2.6 kernels include code that evaluates TCP packets based on TCP Window analysis. This can cause packets that were previously classified as NEW or ESTABLISHED to be classified as INVALID. The new kernel code can be disabled by including this command in your /etc/shorewall/init file: echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_conntrack_tcp_be_liberal Additional kernel logging about INVALID TCP packets may be obtained by adding this command to /etc/shorewall/init: echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_conntrack_log_invalid Traditionally, Shorewall has dropped INVALID TCP packets early. The new DROPINVALID option allows INVALID packets to be passed through the normal rules chains by setting DROPINVALID=No. If not specified or if specified as empty (e.g., DROPINVALID=) then DROPINVALID=Yes is assumed. Then in the second part opening a new window before opening folder as tabs. Hi Christoffer, sorry to be so late reporting this to you. We had a contact sometime ago concerning a crash condition for pgAdmin III. Since our first contact I had another similar bug opened (#288171) which I decided to keep assigned to pgadmin3 so that noone else loose time figuring out what's going on. I was about to close this bug today after I saw you uploaded a new upstream version and just to be sure, I tested pgAdmin against your new package. It seems the main problem is not solved: installed gtk2-engines-gtk-qt launched pgadmin3 = ok. configured gtk2-engines-gtk-qt to use another style - qt launched pgadmin3 = segfault configured gtk2-engines-gtk-qt back to use my kde style launched pgadmin3 = segfault Can you recheck this (maybe this is a local issue due to some misconfig on my side...) ? Short description: useradd -u 600 -c Test -m test does not specify shell in /etc/passwd. This creates different problems later. Reproduced here. The main problem is : how the hell did this come in while shadow had no change but documentation, l10n and a completely unrelated thing in chpasswd since July 2004. The changelog mentions this in the past: * src/useradd.c: set def_shell to /bin/bash, closes: #48304 However, even in the diff for 4.0.3-26 (which is damn old), I find no change between the Debian useradd.c and the original one.

But refreshing or opening the same image in another window does not up the memory usage. Closing the browser free the memory so it may not an xserver bug. It seems like the image stay in the memory cache. I though they ought to move to disk cache when the window is closed but maybe i was wrong. At least the memory cache should have a timeout to avoid us who never close our browser to avoid memory hog. I read a bit more about xrestop and found out it often underetimate memory usage (does not take background pixmaps into account). http://www.freedesktop.org/Software/xrestop I don't know what this is , but i though it was a must know and may explain difference between top and xrestop X memory usage. I can provide a script that tests for label = in the output of xfs_admin. Would that be enough for your patch? Maybe the command '/usr/sbin/xfs_admin -l ' itself will be ok it depends on how it handles the return code. Strange thing, from three computers with approx. the same software installed the problem occurred in two, and after two days disappeared. The PPD on the server defines A4 as the only supported by the printer page size. In /etc/openoffice/psprint.conf there is PPD_PageSize=A4 in both [__Global_Printer_Defaults__] and [Generic Printer]. Same is repeated for ~/.openoffice/1.1.3/user/psprint/psprint.conf. In this situation Writer and Calc are sending US Letter pages to the printer, causing it to hang with PC Load Letter error message. Switching size to A4 from the print dialog properties window does not work. Switching from Printer settings and then printing sometimes works. On older Debian machines with CUPS 1.1.21 after replacing Printer=SGENPRT/Generic Printer with Printer=ppd with A4 pagesize only/Generic Printer in /etc/openoffice/psprint.conf [Generic Printer] section OOo stops to send Letter pages to CUPS printers. Until now i found no solution with CUPS 1.1.23. All other programs work fine. There are some common causes of this problem: 1) your configuration path file /etc/gconf/2/path doesn't contain any databases or wasn't found 2) somehow we mistakenly created two gconfd processes 3) your operating system is misconfigured so NFS file locking doesn't work in your home directory or 4) your NFS client machine crashed and didn't properly notify the server on reboot that file locks should be dropped. If you have two gconfd processes (or had two at the time the second was launched), logging out, killing all copies of gconfd, and logging back in may help. If you have stale locks, remove ~/.gconf*/*lock. Perhaps the problem is that you attempted to use GConf from two machines at once, and ORBit still has its default configuration that prevents remote CORBA connections - put ORBIIOPIPv4=1 in /etc/orbitrc. As always, check the user.* syslog for details on problems gconfd encountered.
