Tyson Whitehead wrote: Package: korgac Version: korganizer Severity: normal Korganizer reminders pop up four hours too late (exactly how much I lag UTC time by). Looking at the std.ics file that korganizer stores stuff in, it seems that times are stored in UTC and korgac is interpreting them to be local time. For example, if I enter an 11:30 appointment, the std.ics file gets an associated entry with a field that says DTSTART:20051012T153000Z. The korgac reminder daemon then pops up my 1/2 hour before reminder at 15:00 local time. Bug#320871: Bug #320871: lftp does not work with ftps (can not list directories)
I have encountered the same issue due to the following misconfiguration: In lftp the configuration variable ftp:ssl-protect-list defaults to yes. Most times if TLS is enabled on the server it will either be on both channels or only on the control channel. So, when you connect to a server that requires TLS only on the control channel then you should not use TLS for LISTs (which happen on the data channel). The ftp:ssl-protect-list variable controls exactly this, and since by default it is set to yes it creates problems with servers that don't user TLS on the data channel. Could the bug reporter check the value of ftp:ssl-protect-list? If it has the default value of yes then perhaps he could try unsetting it to see if LISTs work that way. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#334113: kernel allows loadkeys to be used by any user, allowing for local root compromise
Rudolf Polzer [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: We use a PS/2 port, so without a reboot, this would not work. IIRC 2.6 kernels with keyboard support compiled into the kernel cannot be forced to re-detect the keyboard when the line was interrupted (which is a big problem with old KVM switches). Bug#195509: Solved by gfortran-4.0?
Adam C Powell IV wrote: merge 195509 301898 thanks Just an update: because gfortran and g77 do not produce symbol-compatible objects (according to mpich configure), mpich refuses to use gfortran for Fortran 90/95. And because g77-3.4 is still the recommended compiler for Fortran 77 code, use of Fortran 90/95 is on hold until gfortran is sufficiently stable to be used for both sets of code. At that point, the change in symbol naming may force us to go through a nasty Fortran transition like the C++ transition, but not quite as nasty because there's not quite as much Fortran as C++ in Debian. Bug#328738: proposed patch to fix this bug
tags 328738 + patch severity 328738 grave thanks The bug actually belongs to kaffeine-xine, but I'm not reassigning it (because actually there are two bugs mentioned in this bug #). I've uped the severity because it makes libkaffeinepart completely unusable (unloadadable). It works for some people because they still have out-of-date ksycoca database (where kaffeine_part is still refered by the name Kaffeine). The attached patch changes a few other things, which are documented in the changelog. It is against 0.7.1-1.2 and I used it to build new kaffeine packages for myself. They are available here[1] (for amd64, compiled with pbuilder). ppl on other archs can just replace /usr/share/services/kaffeine_part.desktop with the one from kaffeine-xine, rebuild ksycoca DB by running `kbuildsycoca` and kaffeine xine engine should load fine afterwards. Bug#278724: Info received (was Bug#278724: [nv] system hang when using gv, xmms, or lopster on NV5 [Aladdin TNT2] rev 0x20)
Ennio-Sr wrote: Hi! in my last mesage relating to the captioned bug I wrote (Nov. 24, 2004): -- I'm glad to inform you that changing the Section Screen DefaultDepth from 24 to 16 the problem seems to have disappeared: at least I could run my famous test (i.e. gv foo.txt) many times without locking the system :-) Although I think you could reasonably close the bug, one question remains: I had not set that value to 24 and, if I recall well, when I configured X in old Woody and tried to run it with the wrong value, some 'goblin' would come out from within the X Window System and tell me that depth 24 was not supported by my video card! -- Despite that I did experiment many other hanging-up, but still I had no clue as to what was happening, so I didn't report them. To-day, after my PC froze again, I took different steps which may possibly throw some light on the subject. I had all six consoles opened as follows: F1 - root (idle) F2 - user (idle) F3 - user (idle) F6 - user --start x -- running lopster (on F7) F5 - user --startx -- :1 -- running speedy (on F8) then I opened F4 - user --startx -- :2 -- running mplayer -vo xv -autosync 1 file.mpg (on F9) after half minute watching on F9, the screen (and the PC) froze. I ssh-ed in with my laptop and run top, which showed an XFree86 abosrbing from 60 to 94,6% of CPU! Instead of rebooting (as in past occasions) I killed the above high absorbing XFree86 process and nothing changed; killed .xinitrc running on tty4 (running mplayer on F9, the screen the PC had frozen on) and nothing happened; killed .xinitrc on tty5 (running speedy on F8) and saw a black line across my F9 screen: something had happened! While trying all the CTRL-ALT+F1 through F6 I could see part of the F9 screen progressively full of garbage blacking-out the window ... finally, CTRL-ALT+F7 showed me the window where lopster was running and after that I could re-gain control of my PC! While still having the laptop connected via ssh I tried to reproduce the hanging-up doing again the same steps and watching from top running on the laptop what went on on the PC: the speedy-preloader took almost 45% CPU and about 49% was taken by XFree86 when I launched mplayer ...; after a while (i.e. whan F9 window froze), XFree86 was absorbing up to 96,5% CPU. What I can conclude from my un-technical point of view is that it's the CPU's lack of resources to cause the freezing and wonder whether there could be a sort of pre-warning as to avoid it. Bug#333401: Translation of fluid
Miriam Ruiz wrote: --- Aaron M. Ucko [EMAIL PROTECTED] escribió: In general, this seems like a reasonable thing to do (modulo FLTK 1.1's assumption of ISO 8859-1 or close relatives). However, I've noticed that the version line in .fl files comes out with a comma rather than a period on your system; could you please arrange to continue using US-style notation everywhere to ensure compatibility across systems? Thanks! Hi :) That seems to be innate in fluid, I haven't done anything for changing that. The code to add that version number seems to be in fluid/code.cxx : fprintf(fp, # generated by Fast Light User Interface Designer (fluid) version %.4f\n, And probably the floating point numbers are written automatically according to the system locales. Maybe that could be changed so that it was written in a common format everywhere. Anyway that shouldn't be a problem, as you can generate .xx and .h derivatives of .fl files using fluid on your system. Of course the system could only be translated to iso 8859-1 characters as you said, because fltk does not support unicode afaik. Greetings, Miry __ Renovamos el Correo Yahoo! Hi All, I just blundered into this bug and had a thought about this error message. It looks weird because everything is running as root in the initrd boot sequence. ...except with NFS root doesn't get root access to remote files unless the server is set to allow it. If the NFS server has the default mapping of root = nobody the mount may fail if mount checks for writeability of the directory or something. (thraxisp) Besides that there was a CVE assignment (CAN-2005-3091) for a Cross-Site-Scripting vulnerability that refers the Mantis bug 5751, for which I can't find a referenced fix in the 0.19.2-4 changelog as well. Three weeks later, there has been no response yet from the maintainer, perhaps you are busy with other projects? Since I think it's important that RC bugs get fixed in a timely manner, I am looking into preparing an NMU for this within the next week. This is of course no offense but an effort to help improve the quality of Debian. No offense taken. My impression was that those bugs had all been fixed in the last security update, as Joey suggested. DSA-778 fixed CVE-2005-2556, CVE-2005-2557, CVE-2005-3090 (this was added to the DSA text in retrospect) and has been pulled over to sid. I haven't checked that with the sources yet, but the mantis bugs 0006097: [security] user ID is cached indefinately (thraxisp) 0006189: [security] List of users (in filter) visible for unauthorized users. (thraxisp) 0005751: Non-descript Cross-Site-Scripting issue aka CVE-2005-3091 seem required for sid. Sarge might be affected as well. Bug#334907: ITP: php-htscanner -- htaccess file parser for PHP in CGI mode
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Piotr Roszatycki [EMAIL PROTECTED] * Package name: php-htscanner Version : 0.1 * URL : http://files.zoeloelip.be/ * License : PHP License 3.0 Description : htaccess file parser for PHP in CGI mode When using a CGI version of php (plain old CGI or FastCGI), Apache can't pass any PHP settings from htaccess files it parses. This can be solved by giving each user it's own php.ini file, but the htscanner might be an alternative solution. This extension parses these configuration files (in most cases ..htaccess) and changes the settings. It will search all directories for a configuration file from the docroot until the directory where the request scripts is found. The source is licensed under PHP License, but I hope the upstream author could release it under fixed license. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#334713: More info
Frank Küster wrote: Jules Bean [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I hope this helps you solve this problem. Yes, it clearly shows that the problem is the result of a local change of the configuration, and cannot be blamed on tetex-bin. However, we will again provide the mfw executable and thus fix the bug. I certainly don't specifically remember editing any of the fmt config files. I barely comprehend what they do, even. But, it is true that a couple of years ago I was playing with mfw, so it's not impossible that I changed something then. Bug#334888: cannot install libcurl3-openssl-dev together with heimdal-dev
On Thu, Oct 20, 2005 at 04:45:06PM +0200, Gabor Gombas wrote: Hi, hi, I just wanted to install libcurl3-openssl-dev but could not do so, because it wanted to remove heimdal-dev in favour of libkrb5-dev. Now, I have an application which I want to link with libcurl, but I do not need Kerberos support. I also have an other application which I'd like to build with Heimdal and not MIT Kerberos. Right now I cannot build both applications which is quite inconvenient. i was sure that GSSAPI support burned into common libcurl3 packages would have biten me the sooner or later :) Would it be possible to lower the Depends: libkrb5-dev to a Recommends: libkrb5-dev? I realize that static linking may be broken if heimdal-dev is installed instead of libkrb5-dev, but people needing static linking should know how to handle this... it looks reasonable to me. i'd fix it in the next upload. regards domenico -[ Domenico Andreoli, aka cavok --[ http://people.debian.org/~cavok/gpgkey.asc ---[ 3A0F 2F80 F79C 678A 8936 4FEE 0677 9033 A20E BC50 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#307575: cross-site scripting attack via redirect parameter (CAN-2005-1308)
* Stefan Hornburg: The upstream author commented that advisory as follows: I certainly never heard of it, and the description (or the lack of it) leaves me somewhat skeptical. The redirect URL is generated by: output_attrencoded(cgi(redirect)), which encodes all metacharacters. Move along, nothing here to see. I'm not sure if this correct. Because pnp sysfs expose pnp devices and not isa cards. So you have the choice : - add a simple modprobe.d file - rewrite the pnp layer for isa cards that aren't used anymore : in drivers/pnp/interface a sysfs file should be added that will expose the card id and all the devices ids. Bug#334501: [Pkg-openssl-devel] Bug#334501: libcryto.so.0.9.8 cause a SIGFAULT in ssh

Anyway I would prefere to include the correct fix in the next version. We are in unstable and in the early stages of the 0.9.8 transition. Things may break. We just have to again bump the shlibs version. Yes, I've just installed such a changed version, and ssh segfaults again. It's also in the public header, so it's really off limit. From the ssh source for instance: static RC4_KEY rc4; memset(rc4, 0, sizeof(rc4)); I see 2 options: - Wait for the next soname change to start using the assembler version again. - Make the assembler version aware of the size of an RC4_KEY. BTW: Upstream does not define the RC4_CHAR flag for this architecture. It also does not define the flag for ia64 where we do define it. We might have the same problem with ia64. Right, so it's a good idea to drop it in the future. The IA64 version atleast seems to have support for using different sizes of the code, unfortuantly, it does: #define SZ 4 // this is set to sizeof(RC4_INT) Instead of just setting it to the sizeof() itself. So this might require changing too. I'll try and test this on the ia64 porter machine later. Kurt -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? But this would create a huge number of small, header-only packages so I don't think it will happen. Bug#333104: kbanking

I became aware after I had built kbanking, also I wasn't aware how soon the aqbanking direct support for kbanking was going to be, so I uploaded kbanking. As you may or may not know, the kbanking library as introduced to Debian/unstable in October is obsolete and is probably (on the way to being) at least partially unusable since about August when upstream integrated kbanking into AqBanking (packaged as libaqbanking). It actually still works and I have had reports that kmymoney2 supports HBCI with kbanking and aqbanking as seperate packages, but I agree they should be provided from aqbanking now. My one query is Does kmymoney2 build with kbanking from aqbanking? Do you have some test debs I can look into? Wishlist bug #333104 also asks for libkbanking to be provided by libaqbanking, which is IMHO the way to go. Agreed. So I'd like to know: - Mark, would you mind if libaqbanking provided libkbanking1? I am happy for libaqbanking to provide libkbanking1, provided kmymoney2 will build. I'm unsure if you will need to use some special Replaces: Conflicts: headers because we are effectivly merging two upstream sources. - Release team: kmymoney2 has already been mentioned to be tying gnucash to kde. Is my impression that an update of libaqbanking introducing libkbanking1 (and a build-dependency on kdelibs4-dev) is disruptive to the testing migration? I wasn't aware of this problem. I see that kmymoney2 is being removed from testing today :-( If and when Mark and the release team give their OK, I'd upload aqbanking with kbanking today. When you upload aqbanking with kbanking, I'll upload kmymoney2 with kbanking support! Mark -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
