That's much better

Thanks Ender!

That's great to hear!

So if I understand this correctly:

http://www.debian.org/devel/testing

once the Sid/unstable package is done, people could start test it. Of
course that would be people who actually have svn/cvs repositories with
apache(2) and viewvc/viewcvs and are willing to got through all the
trouble of setting this up on a spare Sid/unstable system.

If that package has fewer release critical bugs than the previous
version then after 10 days it would propagate to Etch/testing. (Unless
there are build failures for some archs that it used to build for or it
breaks other packages due to dependency issues. Yet it seems that the
only package that depends on viewcvs is viewcvs-query.)

Since viewcvs depends on a few packages that probably have newer
versions in Etch/testing compared to Sarge/stable, I would suppose one
would need to backport to Sarge for a stable production system like
gna.org since this is not a security issue and seems to be a larger
upgrade and therefor won't be part of the standard Sarge/stable
distribution.

Would you, Ender, also maintain a backport for Sarge/stable on
http://www.backports.org/ or do you know someone who would?

And Mathieu, would you consider using this upgrade if it became
available on http://www.backports.org/ or rather resolve this issue locally?

Cheers,
David

Hi Frank, I have being in contact with the upstream author, checking the
build logs and no error has being found for powerpc platform. Neither
the upstream author nor me have access to a powerpc architecture, so
could you send me a backtrace of the crash?

Bleh, of courseand I guess that a swat-dbg is not worth it. We

Bug#350375: installation-reports

Just to be clear, the card does not work during install too, right? Or
does it? From some searching on the web I get the impression that the
upstream kernel just contains a pretty outdated version of the Marvell

latest version of the driver, available from www.marvell.com. You'll
probably have to build a custom kernel for that.

Here, you sent the new translation to a former bug report.

However, this bug report had been closed in the meantime because the
maintainer uploaded a new version of the package that included the
file formerly sent by Kakada Hok.

In such case, when you have an update to send, I recommend you to open
a *new* bug report.

So, to complete what I mentioned you yesterday about another package:

When you want to send an update to a translation you already sent:

-if the former bug report is still opened, send the translation to
 that bug report by sending a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

-if it has been closed in the meantime, send the update as a new bug
 report by using the method I teached you yesterday

Checking the status of a given bug report can be made at
http://bugs.debian.org/NN where NN is the bug report number.

Here, for the sake of it, I have re-opened #359672. But that's an
exception.

I can't commit that one because, as far as I know, there's no SVN/CVS
for newt.

Alastair, this is indeed a suggestion, or a question. Could a RCS
repository be used for newt ?

Maybe the collaborative maintenance system recently announced by

Bug#364029: olvwm: conflict with current x11-common

2006-04-20 Thread Blars Blarson
Package: olvwm
Version: 4.4.3.2p1.4-21
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

olvwm install binaries in /usr/X11R6/bin. Current x11-common conflict
with it due to the poorly planned transition. (I'm holding x11-common
to keep my system usable.)

-- System Information:
Debian Release: testing/unstable
  APT prefers unstable
  APT policy: (500, 'unstable')
Architecture: i386 (i686)
Shell:  /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash
Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-1-686
Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968)

Versions of packages olvwm depends on:
ii libc62.3.6-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries
ii  libx11-6 2:1.0.0-6   X11 client-side library
ii  libxext6 1:1.0.0-4   X11 miscellaneous extension librar

Bug#364028: ITP: marabunta -- An anonymous P2P Application

2006-04-20 Thread apeiron.laotracara.com
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: David Gascón <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: marabunta
  Version : 0.3.2
  Upstream Authors: David Gascón, Daniel Larraz
* URL : http://marabunta.laotracara.com
* License : GPL
  Description : An anonymous P2P Application

# It is a P2P platform for information exchanging among nodes in an anonymous
way based on several communication algorithms called "Order and Chaos" which
can be found in massive social organizations such as ant colonys.
# The project was born in the University of Zaragoza, developed and promoted by
students of computing engineering although developement groups and users from
many different places seem to be interested because of the importance and the
aim of the project.
# Marabunta is the real implementation of the ideas explained in the Free Nets
project APEIRON and it has been made with these ideas on mind:

* AVOIDING CENSURE

  Communication between people avoiding central servers is allowed. So it
is free from censure attacks, which are commonly launched from many governments
and corporations that want to control the communications.
* ANONYMITY

  Anonymous communication is allowed. So we can access the contents without
knowing the original source of the message.

CHARACTERISTICS

* Text messages interchange is the first service. It could be taken as a
platform for telegram distribution, where each computer in the net works as a
Host and as a Server.
  o As a Host:

Messages are sended, active nodes are seeked, etc.
  o As a Server:

Text messages and requests to increase the connectivity between
nodes are routed to the network using a broadcast forwarding method.
* There are 4 Messages Distribution Lists. So we only receive messages
sended to the list we are interested on.
  o General, Technology, Philosophy, Politics
* Contents filters are allowed so only messages with certain patterns are
displayed.
  This is specially useful when searching for some specific information
because Marabunta just selects potentially interesting messages.
* Connections:

  All generated traffic is UDP/IP. Avoiding setting up connections between
nodes lets more traffic flow in the network and the operational redundance of
every node can be used. Moreover, UDP protocol increases anonymity in the net
because there is no need to validate source hosts to receive a datagram.
* Marabunta is programmed using QT4 libraries because they allow
compilation on three main operative systems: GNU Linux, Mac and Windows
* Source code has been published under GNU/GPL License.

The file is called _change_ log, and according to your entry, you
didn't change anything. Hence, you should have closed this bug with a
mail to -done, instead of abusing the changelog.

I am re-opening the bug since you didn't say what kind of local
misconfiguration you detected on my system without even getting in
touch with me to debug.

Greetings
Marc

I have incorporated changes from your NMU in the SVN.

Sorry for having missed the FTBFS bug (look slike I read the BTS too
quickly). Even though I'm not console-data maintainer, I already
NMU'ed it in the past and I would have done so here also.

Actually a very short notice with your patch and intent to NMU would
have allowed me to NMU the package (and thus incorporate a few other
pending changes, as Alastair McKinstry is OK for that if I am doing
so).

But that's not such a big deal. The important thing is the FTBFS going
away.

Alastair, I'm thinking about a NMU to fix the recent obvious issues we
received in the BTS (Thai keymap and console font, translations, etc).

Or I'm thinking about a normal upload including me as Uploaders which
would indeed ACK that I'm co-maintaining the package, which is partly
true.

Notes or questions. The package do not provide more than help to the
administrator.

Yes but it is important for hardening of the system to follow the instructions
mentioned. Without it is not much use of the package.

Yes and that is what harden-doc is for, the full documentation. If that
is all you want then install just that pacakge.

I agree with you when it comes to packages that provide actual
functionality. The intention of this package is different as its only
intention is to help people that are not so used to security to get
some help in the process to get a better (hardend) system.

But still if you have suggestsions on how to improve specific questions
(I still use that word even if they are notes) then please do so. Maybe
some checks could be done to see if the admin have already followed that
instruction?

Best regards,

Bug#317377: svnmailer: no manual page for svn-mailer

2006-04-20 Thread Julien Cristau
Hi,

please find attached a manpage for svn-mailer, based on the source code,
the package description and the output of svn-mailer --help.

.SH DESCRIPTION
The svnmailer is an extensible subversion commit notification tool.
However, its purpose in the first place is to create human readable
commit messages.
In order to accomplish this, the content may be recoded to fit the
requirements of the MIME standard.
The svnmailer is able to generate the proper viewcvs urls and place
them quite handy near the diffs in the notification mails.
.
.SH OPTIONS
.TP
.B \-\-commit
This is a regular commit of versioned data (post-commit hook).
This is the default mode.
.TP
.B \-\-propchange
This is a modification of unversioned properties (post-revprop-change hook).
.TP
.B \-\-lock
.I (svn 1.2 and later)
This is a locking call (post-lock hook).
.TP
.B \-\-unlock
.I (svn 1.2 and later)
This is a locking call (post-unlock hook).
.TP
.BI \-\-repository\  rep
The path to the repository directory.

.BI \-\-path\-encoding\  encoding
Specifies the character encoding to use for filenames.
By default, svn\-mailer determines it automatically based on the locale.
.SH FILES
By default, svn\-mailer looks for its configuration file in

Hi

Check in the configuration window to see if something important
have changed or if it make some warning.

The configuration format may have changed, but I need to know in what
way so we can add convert functions to the installation process.

The priority of the Asterisk init.d scripts is "21". Service
dependencies anybody?

Asterisk needs to know its IP address for SIP , and at least in the
current version does not work well with more than one IP (or am I
confusing older versions?)

Bug#354650: lightspeed: segfault at start up on amd64

2006-04-20 Thread Ola Lundqvist
reassign 354650 libgtk1.2
thanks

Hi

Then I think it is valid to reassign this to gtk.

It seems like GTK_BOX return null in some cases but only on amd64...

Bug#364026: bugs.debian.org: attempts to just-send-eight, which is not allowed

2006-04-20 Thread Brian M. Carlson
Package: bugs.debian.org
Severity: important

spohr attempts to send me 8-bit messages without specifying 8BITMIME. Logs are
included at the bottom. It is a violation of the SMTP protocol to send 8-bit
data when such data is not both identified with BODY=8BITMIME[0] and also
well-formed MIME. I'm guessing that you are either using exim3 or exim4, so you
may want to clone this bug to the appropriate package. Also, for your
information, sendmail handles this properly.

If you don't believe Java libraries have issues with not regularly supporting
backward compatibility, then I would wonder how much enterprise development
experience you have with Java libraries ;-).

I think you make some excellent points here. In your initial message, I thought
you were advocating the dropping of version numbers and not trying to do
anything
else, which I would consider reckless and unwise. Adopting a solution for
languages
that have a longer history in Debian with some proven solutions seems like a
wise
approach to me. So, Debian Java Maintainers, let's hear from you on this! We
have to work this topic out if we are going to get a decent Java policy ready at
any point in the near future.

Version: 1.2.1-5
Severity: normal

This package contains a fonts.alias file in /etc/X11/fonts/misc.
To switch the font layout to the one in X11R7, a fonts.alias file
should also be placed at /etc/X11/fonts/X11R7/misc such that
the update-fonts-alias can correctly assemble the fonts.alias
with the option -7 turned on.

Without the correct fonts.alias file in my system, some program
, e.g. xcin, can not be activated to input chinese fonts.

Bug#296915: windows-el: does not save and exit

2006-04-20 Thread Hubert Chan

Hi Daniel,

I've just adopted windows-el, so I appologize for the extreme lateness
of this reply.

The windows-el does not work. It does not save the windows and simply
claims that: This frame is not under control of windows.

Did you run the command (win:startup-with-window) after you loaded
windows.el?

In my test, files with both results had such content. I was wondering
if filesize had something to do with it too...

Bug#364023: dh_installinit prerm fails too easily

2006-04-20 Thread Russ Allbery
Package: debhelper
Version: 5.0.26
Severity: important

Since the fix to #337664, the prerm code generated by dh_installinit
contains:

if [ -x "/etc/init.d/shishid" ]; then
if [ -x "`which invoke-rc.d 2>/dev/null`" ]; then
invoke-rc.d shishid stop || exit $?
else
/etc/init.d/shishid stop || exit $?
fi
fi

The problem is that most init scripts, following the standard templates,
contain code like this:

  stop)
echo -n "Stopping $DESC: "
start-stop-daemon --stop --quiet --pidfile /var/run/$NAME.pid \
--exec $DAEMON
echo "$NAME."
;;

and uses set -e, which exits 1 if the daemon isn't running. If the
package is new enough that both the old and the new prerm scripts contain
the new dh_installinit code that checks exit status, an upgrade fails
if the daemon isn't running because both prerm scripts fail. Worse,
if the daemon is sufficiently broken that it cannot be started, it's
almost impossible to clean up the package since both upgrades and
purges fail. I had to delete the init script and then use dpkg --purge
--force-remove-reinstreq.

I'm not sure if the stop action should really fail if the daemon isn't
running, but I expect there are a ton of init scripts out there that
behave this way since it's been the template for a long time. I think the
error handler for the prerm scripts installed by dh_installinit needs to
be || true instead of || exit $? for stop actions (but the fix is still
valid for the start actions).

Bug#364024: gdImageAALine() can cause segfault

2006-04-20 Thread Paul

Package: libgd2-xpm
Version: 2.0.33-3
Severity: important

I found an off-by-one bug that repeatedly causes segfaults:

$ cat test_segfault.c
#include

int main()
{
   gdImagePtr im = gdImageCreateTrueColor(100,100);
   int colour = gdTrueColorAlpha(100,100,100,100);
   gdImageSetAntiAliased(im,colour);
   gdImageLine(im, 95, 100, 100, 98, gdAntiAliased);
   return 0;
}
$ gcc -o test_segfault test_segfault.c -lgd
$ ./test_segfault
Segmentation fault
$

I made a patch that solves the problem. Its attached.

Is it just me, or does that 'chkrootkit' output show no false
positives? What is being displayed is the verbose output from chkproc,
but it's not saying that any hidden processes were found. chkproc
outputs something like "X process hidden for readdir command" when it
finds hidden processes, does it not? Does `chkrootkit lkm` by itself
say that anything was found?

Bug#363999: Email::Valid should fail on test failure for non-network tests

Do you have some suggestion for a reliable way to test the difference
between a failure due to the network being unavailable (even temporarily)
and a failure of the test itself to connect to it for some other reason.

This seems a bit like the halting problem. I agree it would be better
if autobuilds failed if the basic test suite fails, but any test for
a remote network service is going to be inherently unreliable -- and
'fails to build because aol is down' doesn't seem like the sort of
thing I want to hear about my packages... Even testing for it just
a moment prior doesn't really help, though it improves our odds a
little.

The compromise at present, is the uploader gets to check the buildd
logs to see if the test suite actually succeeded suitably.

In either case, this is probably something we should bug upstream
with, even if that means submitting an improved test suite to them.
Because we do want the tests to succeed before it gets to us, and
that is the only way to be sure.

If people have ideas (and patches :-) on how to improve this usefully
it may well be worth pursuing.

cheers,
Ron

Then 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6 is not the right version of the package to report this
against. Please tell us what version of libx11-6 you were installing.

I see no way that this bug could happen with the current code; the error
message occurs only when support for the named transport has not been

Hi,

this build failure is caused by the workaround for bug#356490 in
libmhash-dev.
In mcrypt, VERSION is correctly defined in config.h, which is included
by src/mcrypt.c via src/defines.h.
However, defines.h also includes , which has a "#undef
VERSION".
A fix would be to replace VERSION by something less generic in mcrypt,
at least until mhash.h is fixed.

Cheers,

Another alternative is to update firefox and its dependencies to
testing, by using apt-pinning. See, for example:

Bug#359678: unreproducible

thanks dude

On Thu, Apr 20, 2006, Filippo Giunchedi wrote:
> do you mind retrying building in sarge and/or unstable?

I confirm the bug in a sarge chroot.

How to reproduce:

1/ pbuilder login in a sarge pbuilder
2/ add backports to your sources.list
3/ add an unstable deb-src line
4/ apt-get build-dep mnogosearch
5/ apt-get source mnogosearch
6/ fakeroot debian/rules install-arch

Removing the comments, and the build will be fine.

However, as the package builds fine in an unstable chroot, I think the
severity should be reduced.

I hope this helps,

I've just built a custom 2.6.16 from current Debian kernel source and to
my surprise this patch also fixes the issue I reported earlier: the fan
no longer kicking in when the processor heats up (#360336) allowing it to
overheat dangerously.

So, merging the two reports and raising severity to RC as it can cause
hardware damage (and as there is a patch, there's no reason it should).

I've updated both upstream BRs:

Yes, a fixed libxp-dev that installs to /usr/lib,/usr/include is waiting in

Which means this part of the patch should just be --prefix=/usr

BTW, please use unified diff format (diff -u) for patches.

/usr/man isn't the right directory, this should be /usr/share/man on an
FHS-compliant system. But these lines seem to be commented out anyway...

Otherwise, the patch looks good to me.

No, adding the +x perms and running the script manually still failed.
This patch looks fairly reasonable to me, since it addresses the missing
settings file that I noticed, and since I was trying to use pgsql as my
database server (and I assume it was originally tested with mysql, hence
why the problem went unnoticed until now). I won't be able to test it
on the machine that originally failed until next week some time, though.

Hi,

the problem here is that the do_cdf program (which generates mlgsl_cdf.c
by parsing /usr/include/gsl/gsl_cdf.h) only handles functions with
"const double" arguments. The functions listed above have one or more
"const unsigned int" arguments, which are ignored by do_cdf, hence the
"too few arguments" errors.
The attached patch fixes this by teaching do_cdf.ml about "const
unsigned int".

Cheers,
Julien Cristau

Is that as simple to do as this patch?

The patch for _XGetpwnam is no longer needed because the modular X uses

Other than that it's basically a s/X11R6\///. It adds references to

Bug#360233: asterisk-config: care about other packages directories

2006-04-20 Thread Daniel Hess
tags 360233 + patch
thanks

The directories /var/log/asterisk, /var/run/asterisk and
/var/spool/asterisk are not created by asterisk-config so postinst
should check if they exists, before trying to chmod them or don't care
about them at all (and leave the chmod to the packages who create them).

I've attached a patch which checks for the existence of the directories
not created by asterisk-config fist and only chmod them if they exists.

Bug#305691: Me too

2006-04-20 Thread Tim Day
Just a "me too"...

Someone gave me an ultra1 (my first piece of sparc kit and first non
i386 debian install) with CG6 (TGX) graphics.
I installed basic sarge.
I upgraded to the 2.6.8 kernel immediately (and dpkg-reconfigured
console-data to pc).
I tried to get xserver-xfree86 up and running (marvelling at the yellow
debconf dialogs... I actually thought maybe they're colour coded by
architecture... yellow for "sun"!) but vt7 remained stubbornly blank,
despite no errors logged and clients being apparently able to run
happily (but invisibly) there.

So will be going back to good old 2.4...

Tim

Please bear with me, I'm working on it. There seem to be some more

Being able to pull in package selections from another install can be
helpful, in the cases of a non-functional system, or reading from a
hard drive install under Knoppix. A patch for this is attached. It's
just for functionality; no help text or long option ("--root") is here

Bug#364014: libx11-6: UTF-8 incorrectly displayed in ion window title

2006-04-20 Thread Reuben Thomas
Package: libx11-6
Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6
Severity: normal

I thrashed this out with ion's author, who, when I asked what bug I
should file, said:

"Something about Xmb drawing routines routines substituting high
characters for two ascii characters in utf-8 locale with some fonts."

For the record, it doesn't seem to matter which font I use, but in ion
window titles, the (TM) character is drawn as "b, (quote-b), which
happen to be the third and first characters for UTF-8 (TM)
respectively, when you AND them with 0x7f. (The second character anded
with 0x7f is 4).

In this csae I was using Skype, which was trying to display
"Skype(TM)". I checked that its atoms had the right type
(COMPOUND_TEXT for WM_NAME and WM_ICON_NAME).

Even with the patch for #339891, there are still bugs left with degraded
RAID-5s. In my particular case, evms_activate segfaulted and then
completely locked the system on boot with a degraded RAID-5. EVMS
upstream knows of these problems, and has issued a patch:

Bug#273724: kdm: improper handling of XkbOptions in xorg.conf

2006-04-20 Thread Matt R Hall
Package: kdm
Version: 4:3.5.2-1
Followup-For: Bug #273724

I am writing to confirm the existence of this bug and further document the
behavior described by the other user who reported it two years ago.

setxkbmap -print shows the following output:

xkb_keymap {
xkb_keycodes  { include "xfree86+aliases(qwerty)"   };
xkb_types { include "complete"  };
xkb_compat{ include "complete"  };
xkb_symbols   { include "pc(pc104)+us+compose(rwin)"};
xkb_geometry  { include "pc(pc104)" };
};

>From this, it is quite clear that compose(rwin) is set, which should mean that
it is possible to enter the compose key sequences using the right Windows key.
However, this only works correctly in X sessions started outside of kdm.
Inside kdm, pressing compose+'+e which should produce "lowercase e acute"
simply gets ignored. Same is true for other keys.

The fact that I have set this option in /etc/X11/xorg.conf as follows does not
make any difference. The option is also set in kcontrol as described by the
other user. Neither of these fix the problem.

Here is the settings in xorg.conf:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier  "Generic Keyboard"
Driver  "keyboard"
Option  "CoreKeyboard"
Option  "XkbRules"  "xfree86"
Option  "XkbModel"  "pc104"
Option  "XkbLayout" "us"
Option  "XkbOptions""compose:rwin"

I checked libfontenc1-1.0.1-5, and it is still incorrect... The line in it is:

This bug was already fixed in newer uploads of libxfixes, libxrender,
libfontenc, libxfont, and libxcursor (xcursor was the wrong source package
to assign this to).

From your original list, that leaves xft, xorg-x11, xserver-xorg-video-i180,
and xserver-xorg-video-via.

It looks like xft is still affected, but I have no idea why you're filing
the bug against the other packages. The xorg-x11 package is obsolete,
besides which it's also a source package that previously built some 150
binary packages and you gave no indication of which one you thought was
buggy. (If the bug applies to a particular binary package, please file it
against that binary package!) The final two packages are driver packages
that have nothing to do with shared libraries, so definitely shouldn't be
calling ldconfig either.

In the future, please file separate bugs when you find that multiple
packages suffer from the same problem; when each package has to be fixed
separately, it's not very helpful to have a single bug report with a single
open/closed state...

Actually it's terminfo - except for NetBSD, there's no current (past 10
years) platform that actually uses termcap other than for legacy support.

I don't know - what's your list for "supported platforms"?

none that I'm aware of (excepting of course, programs that hardcode "xterm"
into their scripts, of course).

Bug#364010: feh: Allow editing of captions in JPEG files

2006-04-20 Thread Reuben Thomas
Package: feh
Version: 1.3.4-2
Severity: wishlist

Please allow JPEG files to have their captions edited directly (rather
than using a separate text file).

(I'd just like to say that having looked at most of the other image
viewers in Debian, feh is the only one that is solid IMO; the rest
have bugs, horrible UIs or performance problems. The only other thing
that could be improved is rotation as fast as eog's.)

Bug#363938: isdnutils-xtools fails to install

This is because x11-common conflicts with this version of isdnutils-xtools,
because it installs binaries in /usr/X11R6/bin and /usr/X11R6/bin is going
away with Xorg 7.

It was actually reasonably appropriate before for isdnutils-xtools to
install to /usr/X11R6, because the package does build-depend on xutils;
unfortunately, the debian packaging manually moves the binaries from
/usr/bin to /usr/X11R6/bin, so a binNMU isn't sufficient to fix this
problem...

Bug#364009: gwenview: Gwenview eats CPU when viewing pictures normally

2006-04-20 Thread Reuben Thomas
Package: gwenview
Version: 1.3.1-2
Severity: normal

Gwenview is unusably slow on my 512Mb/1GHz lightly loaded laptop. I
have no idea why. I asked it to view a directory of 100 pictures. It
loads and displays thumbnails fast, but every time I move from one
picture to the next, it displays it and then spends 30s or so
computing. Indeed, I don't even have to display the picture: I can
close the display pane and merely select a picture in the thumbnail
view to get this huge pause. If I only look at 10 pictures the pause
goes away. Looks like a performance bug, therefore (there's no need to
do something with each of 100 pictures every time I look at a new one).

Unless there is still a plan to reimplement the perl scripts in another
language, I intend to work on a patch to internationalise the Perl
scripts.

I plan to use something like in /usr/share/perl5/Debconf/Gettext.pm to
avoid depending on liblocale-gettext-perl. (Thanks to Denis Barbier for
pointing this).

I intend to make a dpkg-dev PO and to put the strings of the scripts
provided by dpkg in the existing dpkg PO.

Kind Regards,

Hi,

It seems that 0.0.20040403-3 is still set to failed state for the
same reason, but I have no idea what went wrong now. The package
you asked me to test seems to have worked, so I have no idea.

I'll try and look at it again tomorrow, if I don't, please ask
me.

Delo uses ELF. Netbooting a DECstation works via a t-rex generated
image which fakes an ECOFF header.

Very old DECstation can't boot via tftp/bootp but need MOP, in that
case the t-rex image may or may not work, I don't know if anybody
ever tried.

Don't worry, we obsoleted ECOFF for DECstation already before sarge. :-)

IRIX dropped ECOFF support with the 5 -> 6 transition.
AIX uses XCOFF, an incompatible format.
Ultrix would still use ECOFF but is completely obsolete by now.
MIPS RiscOS is already forgotten.

The binutils ECOFF support is happily bitrotting for some years now,
nobody cares about keeping it up. ISTR the NetBSD folks still need
it for bootloader-ish things, but that would be a different config
anyway.

Bug#364003: Update

2006-04-20 Thread Reuben Thomas
I misunderstood: apparently the adjustment feature only works on the
current picture, and lasts as long as the picture is cached. It has
nothing to do with deletion.

This is all confusing. I'm unclear on why the program doesn't remember
adjustments, still.

Bug#364006: wmnet: Includes /usr/X11R6/bin, which breaks X11 on package removal

2006-04-20 Thread Roger Leigh
Package: wmnet
Version: 1.05-12
Severity: serious
Justification: Breaks other packages

$ dpkg -L wmnet | grep ^/usr/X11
/usr/X11R6
/usr/X11R6/bin
/usr/X11R6/man
/usr/X11R6/man/man1

/usr/X11R6/bin is a symlink created by x11-common. Because this isn't
owned by x11-common, removing wmnet removes the symlink, which breaks
X11.

Please remove these empty X11R6 directories from the wmnet package.

Roger
