Looks like an inkscape bug to me? inkscape shouldn't do that, should it? :)

Actually I got already told months ago by the inkscape maintainer (Cced)
that this would happen somewhen but newer saw it.
Probably that breakage now got over from Ubuntu to Debian with the libc6
update? (AFAICR that was the only difference between Debian and Ubuntu we
had a idea of causing this)

Arguably, this could be made more visible to the user.

 Directly opening it in the same or foreground tabs (via context menu)
 works however.

That, however, is not expected at all. It should fail the same, and it
actually does for me.

Did you try with a fresh profile or in safe mode?

This, however, is actually a bug. I will change the scripts to ignore
non-existant config files.

 In addition, once dokuwiki is fully configured, the files in /etc/dokuwiki do 
 not appear to be properly replaced:
 As you can see all the files have a dpkg-new extension appended. This 
 causes an error when trying to access 
 dokuwiki.

Yes, this is the expected behaviour of any package. Delete the
configuration files, and it will not replace them for you. It will only
install .dpkg-new or .ucf-new, not to interfere with your own
modifications. Then you are free to copy them to their regular names.

So, to sum up:
- when you delete configuration files, it is normal that a
  reinstallation does not restore them at their original names: it
  simply respects your choice of deleting them, but restores the
  original ones with names that do not interfere;
- when you delete configuration files, it is normal that your software
  does not work anymore;
- however, it is not normal that the postinst script fails if a
  configuration file has been deleted, and this is what I will fix.

As an advice, if you want to reinstall a package to get its original
configuration files, you have two options:
- reinstall it (or upgrade it), then copy the new configuration files
  (they have the .*-new extension) erasing your ones;
- backup your configuration files, then purge the package, then install
  it.

Since it’s a patch to the Python code, you don’t need to rebuild it, you

That was actually done so on purpose, because while the intent is that
the program is a normal fsck program, at the moment, it really doesn't
do much, and doesn't work as people using /sbin/fsck would expect it to.

So until the program actually does what it is intended to, I'm not
exactly sure it is safe to put it in /sbin. OTOH, I could rename it, but
except for nitpicking, what exactly would be the point?

What do fellow developpers think?

So it is. Tried that (after some difficulty from the fact that
copy-pasting from the browser did not result in a working diff;
downloaded the relevant file in toto instead), and re-tested. Enabled
the replaygain plugin, started playing, got a segfault. So I'm afraid
the patch does not fix things.

I suppose a possible fix could be having pylons/test.py import the whole
of pylons only inside begin(self).

I think the problem has something to do with libswt-gtk-3.5-java.

If I replace /usr/share/java/swt.jar with the one bundled with vuze 4.4

The fact that aptitude is currently the recommended tool for package 
management has various reasons: user interface, features, dependency

aptitude is the primary tool used by Debian Installer (and because of that 
its current priority of important is actally necessary). It is also 
recommended in both the Release Notes (for stable release upgrades) and

So what's listed in the Debian Reference is a correct reflection of 
aptitude's current status and not, as you imply, the result of some single 
developer being on crack.

The growing dependency chain of aptitude *is* of some concern and may be 
reason to re-evaluate its role, but in no way does that change its 
_current_ status.

It looks like libjetty-extra-java is the culprit here. This package
provides jetty-client (which is what oauth-signpost requires, I
presume), but also other libraries related to application servers, which
in turn depend on libtomcat6-java, ant and lots of other stuff not
needed on a machine running JOSM.


Maybe you should consider choosing a different HTTP layer (according
to the package descriptoins, several are supported) or reassign this bug
to libjetty-extra-java and ask for a a separate package with the HTTP
client library.

Without checking the RFC, sending 501 + Connection: close and 200 in direct 
succession looks terribly broken.

One thing I find myself wishing for is the ability to find a line that has been 
modified by using gitk. It seems to me that if I have the following in a diff

- def foo(this)
+ def foo(this, that=False)

that I can't find the line by searching for foo. There are times I would like 
to know how foo has changed and I would like to search for def foo without 
knowing what else is on the line. Perhaps an option find commit 'with string' 
could be added to find commit 'adding/removing'.

Version info: I am accessing git through MINGW32 (gitbash?) under Windows XP, 
version 1.6.3.2-preview20090608.

Uhm... Sorry, I tried and failed.  I haven't used git for packaging (or
anything else), yet.  A debcheckout worked, and could apply and commit
my changes locally, however when I now try to git push my changes, I
get the following:

Your use of git looks fine.

You probably just need to use either -a or -u option to debcheckout.

Easiest is probably to start over with a fresh debcheckout.

Alternatively you can try edit the .git/config file directly, changing 
the git:// line to an authorized git URL (either 
git+ssh://git.debian.org/... or git.debian.org:/...).  Just beware that 
the git+ssh variant has no colon after hostname while the other does - 
that difference has caused me many hours of frustration.

Kupfer stores passwords in base64 encoding unless python-keyring-gnome is 
installed. This is despite the use of python-keyring, since the default AES 
encrypted backend of python-keyring is disabled on purpose in Kupfer (because 
it prompts for a password on first run) [1]. 

If python-keyring-gnome is installed, python-keyring uses GNOME Keyring 
automatically. Kupfer should depend on (or recommend) python-keyring-gnome (or 
python-keyring-kwallet).
