Bug#299383: Firefox has problems connecting to some websites via https
Package: mozilla-fiefox Version: 1.0+dfsg.1-6 Hi, Firefox has a problem connecting to some (not all) sites via https. The problem must lie with firefox, since w3m on the same machine does not have this problem. Symptoms: Clicking on a link to or directly typing in the address of such a site pops up an error window telling about an "Error Code: -5961" and a second error window containing the text "The document contains no data". To repoduce, do any of the following: - go to http://ebay.de/ and click on "Einloggen" - (try to) go to https://signin.ebay.de/ - go to http://www.deutsche-bank-24.de/ an click on "Kunden-Login" to the far right Daniel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#299383: More details
Hi, first of all, the problem still exists with package version 1.0.1-2. Secondly, I have found a clue as to where the bug hides. Namely, the described problem only appears when firefox is told to use OCSP (via Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Validation->Use OCSP to validate only certificates that specify an OCSP service URL). With this options set, the errors occur. With OCSP turned off, everything is fine. Please mark this as Severity: Important as it prevents the use of a very important aspect in the certification scheme. Bug#307620: backupninja: Fatal errors stop the script and fail to send email reports
Package: backupninja Version: 0.5-2 Severity: important When a fatal error is found (for instance, wrong permissions in /etc/backup.d), the main script just exits, which means no email is sent to report the problem. This is an important bug, since that means the user can remain unaware of a problem that prevents his backups from happening normally. This happens because the 'fatal' function does an 'exit 2' line 113 of /usr/sbin/backupninja. Since all work happens in the same process (scripts are sourced), this mean backupninja just exits in that case, preventing any further action like sending the report email. Just commenting out the exit seems to be a fine solution, at least temporarily. Probably discussion with upstream is needed to decide what is the proper behaviour in all cases. That is, is it ever important that part of the script is skipped when a fatal error is found? In any case, it should definitely not just finish the whole script. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (700, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.6-2-686 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages backupninja depends on: ii gawk 1:3.1.4-2 GNU awk, a pattern scanning and pr ii mawk 1.3.3-11 a pattern scanning and text proces -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#294213: netpanzer: An unexpected exception occured: Send error: Broken pipe
Package: netpanzer Version: 0.8-1 Severity: normal Repeatedly, after playing a network game for some time (for instance 20 minutes), the program shutdowns. The console output ends with: An unexpected exception occured: Send error: Broken pipe Shutdown needed. This looks like a network connection error. But since this happened in all games I tried, and I did not lose my internet connection, I assume this is indeed a bug. It would of course be interesting to know if it happens to others, and if more detailed information can be obtained. Note that there are also hundreds (thousands) of "Message has unknown message class 6." on the console, but that also happens without causing a shutdown, so this might be unrelated to this bug. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (700, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.6-2-686 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages netpanzer depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-6 GCC support library ii libphysfs-1.0 1.0.0-2filesystem abstraction library for ii libsdl-image1 1.2.3-6image loading library for Simple D ii libsdl-mixer1 1.2.6-1mixer library for Simple DirectMed ii libsdl1.2debi 1.2.7+1.2.8cvs20041007-4.1 Simple DirectMedia Layer ii libstdc++51:3.3.5-5 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii netpanzer-dat 0.8-1 data files for the netPanzer game -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#297841: exim4-config: Local rewrite stopped working after upgrade in sarge
Package: exim4-config Version: 4.44-2 Severity: normal After the recent upgrade in testing, exim started to try to deliver mail sent to local users though the smart host instead of doing a local delivery to /var/spool/mail as it used to. I tried to see why in the changelog, but failed. I don't think the NEWS message applies, since it's about rewriting From addresses, not routing (and anyway I use /etc/email-addresses, and that works fine). I'm in no way expert in exim configuration, so maybe there's something wrong in my config (made with dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config). In any case, this is confusing, and a potential problem for sarge upgrades. -- Package-specific info: Exim version 4.44 #1 built 27-Jan-2005 13:55:35 Copyright (c) University of Cambridge 2004 Berkeley DB: Sleepycat Software: Berkeley DB 4.2.52: (December 3, 2003) Support for: iconv() IPv6 GnuTLS Lookups: lsearch wildlsearch nwildlsearch iplsearch cdb dbm dbmnz dsearch nis nis0 passwd Authenticators: cram_md5 plaintext Routers: accept dnslookup ipliteral manualroute queryprogram redirect Transports: appendfile/maildir/mailstore autoreply lmtp pipe smtp Fixed never_users: 0 Configuration file is /var/lib/exim4/config.autogenerated # /etc/exim4/update-exim4.conf.conf # # Edit this file and /etc/mailname by hand and execute update-exim4.conf # yourself or use 'dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config' dc_eximconfig_configtype='satellite' dc_other_hostnames='blanche' dc_local_interfaces='127.0.0.1:10.0.0.2' dc_readhost='blanche' dc_relay_domains='' dc_minimaldns='false' dc_relay_nets='' dc_smarthost='mail.axelero.hu' CFILEMODE='644' dc_use_split_config='true' dc_hide_mailname='true' dc_mailname_in_oh='true' mailname:blanche -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (700, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.6-2-686 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages exim4-config depends on: ii adduser 3.59 Add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.30.11Debian configuration management sy ii passwd 1:4.0.3-30.9 change and administer password and -- debconf information: * exim4/dc_smarthost: mail.axelero.hu exim4/dc_relay_domains: exim4/exim3_upgrade: true * exim4/dc_eximconfig_configtype: mail sent by smarthost; no local mail * exim4/dc_readhost: blanche exim4/exim4-config-title: exim4/dc_noalias_regenerate: false exim4/dc_relay_nets: * exim4/mailname: blanche * exim4/dc_local_interfaces: 127.0.0.1:10.0.0.2 * exim4/dc_minimaldns: false * exim4/dc_other_hostnames: * exim4/no_config: true * exim4/hide_mailname: true * exim4/dc_postmaster: daniel * exim4/use_split_config: true -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#410408: mozilla-firefox: fails to save state when using xsm

Bug#411950: Cursor theme does not set
Package: kwin Version: 3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6 I don't know if this is the correct package to file against. There seems to be some problem being able to set or unset a particular Cursor Theme. If I install chameleon-cursor-theme and select one of the themes in Control Center -> Mouse -> Cursor Theme tab, then later on select "No theme", after the next restart of X the Chameleon theme is still being used. I have installed the "big-cursor" theme and want to use it. Since this is an X theme I would think that selecting "No theme" would make this the default, but it doesn't. I know in the past this was how the "artwiz-cursor" cursor seemed to work - when installed it simply became the default theme under X. big-cursor does not show up in the Cursor Theme tab so I'm not sure how to even set it or whether it can be set. -- Daniel O'Neill -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Package: amsn Version: 0.95+dfsg2-0.2 Every time amsn starts a window with the title "Newer version 0.96 available for download" pops up. The window is the full width of the display (which looks terrible on a 1920x1200 display, let me tell you!). Regardless of whether one clicks "Don't ask update again for one week" or not it always comes up at startup. Bug#421966: trackballs: Segfaults when trying to start a level
Okay. I managed to --force-depends install libgl1-mesa-dri_6.5.2-4, libgl1-mesa-dri-dbg_6.5.2-4 and libdrm2_2.3.0-4. This surprisingly gave me working hardware acceleration, although with severe graphical errors. trackballs still shows the same behaviour, here is a backtrace: Core was generated by `trackballs'. Bug#422777: xserver-xorg-video-ati: xcalloc patch worked, confirm
Hello, just upgraded my xserver-core to 1.3.0.0.dfsg-6 with radeon driver 6.6.3-2 and ran into the same problem. Googled to this bug and to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9816 and can confirm that the xcalloc patch solved the problem. MergedFB working again. *Please* include that patch quickly into the debian package. Thanks, Daniel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#417850: Caps Lock don't work
Hi, faw asked me to install debian with a image from here: http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/etch_di_rc2/i386/iso-cd/ I downloaded the businesscard and installed. (on the same machine that had the problem and now that is sid doesn't) Instaled with portuguese Brazil language, and abnt-2 keyboard... just the base system comes... restart and ... the bug still on. If there is anything that I can do for testing tell me. Felipe Augusto van de Wiel (faw) wrote: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 [ Adding debian-devel-portuguese ] On 04/05/2007 06:45 AM, Otavio Salvador wrote: Christian Perrier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: This occurs with the abnt-2 keymap, and with the latest etch I downloaded. Looks like the sid doesn't have this bug but as the First etch release is coming soon it's good to fix thi first. I have this bug with etch with all machines I instaled with this keymap. As far as I remember (no way to check this right now), the version of console-data in sid is the same than the one in Etch. console-data are the same at both unstable and etch. Daniel, could you please clarify your bug description a bit? I'm not able to reproduce the problem here and since we're using Etch as basis to most of our O.S. Systems products we do install it every day however no one here has found a way to reproduce this bug but I do want to have it resolved ASAP. Ok. Adding some important information that we figured out on the IRC #debian-boot and could help to lead to the final solution. If you use loadkeys it doesn't happen. To reproduce you need to use 'dpkg-reconfigure console-data'. So, it appears to be related with the console-data maintainer scripts. I'm attaching keytrokes from br-latin1 and br-abnt2 just as a reference, don't know if that could help. The attached archives are divided in four areas: 1) Keytrokes with CAPS, with SHIFT and without CAPS/SHIFT 2) showkey without CAPS 3) showkey with CAPS 4) getkeycodes I preserved the order of the strokes. During the tests, I also tried with us-latin1 and it also shows this problem/behaviour. For the record, I tested it on my laptop, running etch, updated/upgraded today (20070405) and with a US Keyboard (no cedilla). My locale at the VT1 is en_US.UTF-8. If someone reproduces this bug, please post the detailed way to do so. I didn't test the rc1 of debian but the first etch release Is with this problem. I have more than 100 instalations here and all of then had this problem. Do this Install the system like if you were in brazil, portuguese and abnt2. And for sure you will have this problem... Turn on caps lock and start typing on the tty1 you will see something like AASSccDDFFeerrTT some keys are lower case! -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#420057: "Manage Devices and Plugins" annoying popup
Package: amarok Version: 1.4.4-4+b1 Amarok assumes that it has some privileged status on my system by trying to automatically handle the insertion of new media, greeting me with an annoying popup window every time "Manage Devices and Plugins". I use Amarok to play music, but I do not want to use this "feature". I do not want it imposed and forced upon me. It is annoying and close to dangerous that it does this every single time I am trying to work with some external media and this popup occurs, even though I have repeatedly selected the option "Do not handle" for all the /dev/sd* devices it tries to handle. There is no way to disable it and it is definitely a bug at this point. Features like this should be off by default and only be turned on when a user specifically enables them. Bug#353451: quoted-printable messages confuse urlview
Package: urlview Version: 0.9-16 Severity: normal In quoted-printable messages, long lines are broken by terminating each line at 80 characters with an equal sign ("="). urlview doesn't recognize this escape, and so it breaks the URL at that point. Other characters that are escaped in quoted-printable messages (such as equal signs) will also cause URLs to be mangled beyond usability. As an example, I'll submit this message as quoted-printable and include a long URL: http://www.haskell.org/ghc/docs/6.4/html/libraries/OpenGL/Graphics.Rendering.OpenGL.GL.Texturing.Environments.html and a URL containing an equal sign: http://happypenguin.org/news?start=35 You can find the quoted-printable RFC online; it should have fairly detailed instructions on how to parse these messages. Bug#353454: nautilus blocks execution of gedit / file-roller when browsing /usr/share/doc
Package: nautilus Version: 2.12.2-2 Severity: important Hello, When browsing my /usr/share/doc directory with nautilus, it blocks the execution of gedit or file-roller. I reproduce this bug in my system following these steps: 1. Open console 2. Open nautilus, and consecutively do: 2.1. Select my filesystem icon in left pane tree 2.2. Enter (double click) /usr in right pane directory list 2.3. Enter (double click) /usr/share in right pane directory list (wait for the new list to be filled) 2.4. Enter (double click) /usr/share/doc in right pane directoy list (wait for the new list to be filled) 3. In console, run "gedit": it gets blocked A note (for the case it may help?): I open system monitor, view the open files by blocked gedit, and it has an open connection against localhost.localdomain:858 4. Kill it with ctrl+c 5. Select /bin in nautilus' left pane tree 6. In console, run "gedit": it opens correctly 7. select /usr/share/doc again in nautilus' left pane tree (wait for the new list in right pane to be filled) 8. In console, run "gedit": it gets blocked again In fact, in 8. we repeat the problem of 3. with exactly the same properties. 9. Kill it with ctrl+c 9. Close nautilus 10. In console, run "gedit": it opens correctly Perhaps nautilus blocks some files / pipes / sockets when browsing large directories?? My /usr/share dir. contains 249 elements, and my /usr/share/doc directory contains 1004 elements (which in turn may contain about 6 - 7 elements - average). I have found this behaviour when trying to open some package documents or gzipped files, and it is quite annoying as you can understand. I'm using linux-image-2.6.15-1-686, on my debian testing system, and an ext3 filesystem. I can reproduce this behaviour both in my Pentium 4 (1.8 Mhz - 768 MB ram) desktop computer and in my Pentium M (1.4 Mhz - 512 MB ram) laptop. Both systems have similar configuration. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15-1-686 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages nautilus depends on: ii desktop-file-utils 0.10-1Utilities for .desktop files ii gconf2 2.12.1-9 GNOME configuration database syste ii gnome-control-center 1:2.12.2-2utilities to configure the GNOME d ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-01.10.3-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libaudiofile0 0.2.6-6 Open-source version of SGI's audio ii libbonobo2-0 2.10.1-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-0 2.10.1-2 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.3.5-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcairo2 1.0.2-3 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libeel2-2 2.12.2-3 Eazel Extensions Library (for GNOM ii libesd-alsa0 [libesd0] 0.2.36-3 Enlightened Sound Daemon (ALSA) - ii libexif12 0.6.12-2 library to parse EXIF files ii libfontconfig1 2.3.2-1.1 generic font configuration library ii libgail-common 1.8.8-1 GNOME Accessibility Implementation ii libgail17 1.8.8-1 GNOME Accessibility Implementation ii libgconf2-42.12.1-9 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglade2-01:2.5.1-2 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.8.6-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-desktop-2 2.12.2-2 Utility library for loading .deskt ii libgnome-keyring0 0.4.6-2 GNOME keyring services library ii libgnome2-02.12.0.1-5The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomecanvas2-0 2.12.0-2 A powerful object-oriented display ii libgnomeui-0 2.10.1-1 The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnomevfs2-0 2.12.2-5 GNOME virtual file-system (runtime ii libgtk2.0-02.8.10-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice66.9.0.dfsg.1-4Inter-Client Exchange library ii libnautilus-extension1 2.12.2-2 libraries for nautilus components ii liborbit2 1:2.12.4-1libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpango1.0-0 1.10.3-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpopt0 1.7-5 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii librsvg2-2 2.12.7-5 SAX-based renderer library for SVG ii libsm6 6.9.0.dfsg.1-4X Window System Session Management ii libstartup-notificatio 0.8-1 library for program launch feedbac ii libx11-6 6.

(Also, you should be using set -e in that or setting SHELL=/bin/sh -e, so the sed failure within the for loop would result in a build failure instead of broken packages.) -- Daniel Schepler -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
