Bug#1051502: New versions of EPM available from new upstream
Package: epm Version: 4.2-11 Upstream epm has had a few releases since 4.2, and has had a new maintainer for almost three years now: https://www.msweet.org/blog/2020-11-20-epm-5.0.0.html https://jimjag.github.io/epm/ https://github.com/jimjag/epm You may want to consider packaging a newer version (5.0.0 at the time of this writing). Bug#996875: aide: 31_aide_spamassassin needs update for SpamAssassin 3.4.6
Package: aide Version: 0.17.3-4+b2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, SpamAssassin stores its files in a version-dependent subdirectory of /var/lib/spamassassin. Currently, 31_aide_spamassassin contains the following line: @@define SABASE var/lib/spamassassin/3.004002 This line targets SpamAssassin 3.4.2 specifically, however, the package has already been updated to a newer version in several Debian releases: - buster-backports has 3.4.4 - bullseye, bookworm and sid has 3.4.6 - experimental has 4.0.0 (let's ignore this for now) This means that the supplied configuration is currently only useful with buster, but doesn't work with buster-backports and post-buster releases. Bug#978147: phpmyadmin: Depend on php-mysqli instead of php-mysql
Package: phpmyadmin Version: 4:4.9.7+dfsg1-1~bpo10+1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, starting with php 7.0, mysql module has been removed from the distribution, and phpx.x-mysql Debian packages (both the official ones and the ones available from sury.org) stopped providing php-mysql, but provide php-mysqli, php-mysqlnd and php-pdo-mysql instead. Please replace the dependency on php-mysql with a dependency on one of these virtual packages (mysqli, most likely?), or at least add it as an alternative to php-mysql. This matters because when packages.sury.org repository is enabled, installing php-mysql causes installation of ALL versions of phpx.x-mysql, since the package is not provided by any of them, but requires all of them. Meanwhile, depending on php-mysqli, for example, would allow installation of whichever version the user prefers. Not having the unofficial repository enabled hides the issue, but it still means that the php-mysql package, which does not ship any code, is required, while no other php-module packages are. Bug#920616: keepassx: Deprecate the keepassx package in favor of keepassxc
Subject: keepassx: Deprecate the keepassx package in favor of keepassxc Package: keepassx Version: 2.0.3-2 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, I suggest to deprecate this package and turn it into a transitional package which depends on and installs keepassxc instead. The reason for this is probably obvious, but I'll reiterate it anyway: KeePassX seems pretty much abandoned, and KeePassXC is its actually actively maintained fork. Why I think KeePassX is abandoned: - no new releases within the last 2+ years (current latest version is 2.0.3 which was released in October 2016). - the upstream bug tracker (https://dev.keepassx.org/projects/keepassx) is full of bug reports and feature requests that were never responded to. - the upstream git repository (https://github.com/keepassx/keepassx/commits/master) has only had 3 (THREE) commits since last release, which in total amount to just 20 or so lines of code - still uses Qt4 (although it seems the upstream at least maintains compatibility with Qt5 as well: that's what 2 of the 3 aforementioned commits are about). Now, I do realize that in theory KeePassX could be so perfect that it wouldn't need any updates or fixes whatsoever, but in reality this is usually not the case with any software. Also, the last update to the keepassx package made its description explicitly suggest it over keepassxc, which I don't think makes any sense given the situation. One potential issue I see here is the fact that KeePassXC uses a separate config file, so the user would have to either copy their config file to the new place or to configure KeePassXC anew. But assuming a note could be displayed during upgrade, I don't think this would be a huge deal, especially considering that KeePassXC seems to happily accept KeePassX configuration files if they're placed correctly. Bug#885570: linux-image-4.9.0-4-amd64: display breakage with Intel HD Graphics 5500
Package: linux-image-4.9.0-4-amd64 Version: 4.9.65-3+deb9u1 Severity: critical Recently, I've been having problems using my Lenovo X1 Carbon notebook (type 20BS, I think it's known as 3rd gen X1 Carbon). By using the keyboard, or (especially) touchpad, I am getting really bad rendering artifacts (or flickering, not sure what the correct term is) on both the internal and external displays, and the latter sometimes even disappears for a second or so. Disconnecting the external display would sometimes prolong the "usable" period, but eventually the machine would become completely unusable anyway. I had experienced different versions of "unusable": in some cases, the PC would freeze completely, and in other cases the laptop display would go berserk. I ruled out this being a hardware issue, because booting an older kernel (linux-image-4.9.0-3-amd64 version 4.9.30-2+deb9u5) actually gets rid of the problem. I was also not able to reproduce it after booting from Ubuntu 17.10 Live USB. Looking at apt history, I only see two upgrades to linux-image-4.9.0-4-amd64 this December: from 4.9.51-1 to 4.9.65-3 on 11th and from 4.9.65-3 to 4.9.65-3+deb9u1 on 27th, thus my guess is that this regression happened somewhere inbetween 4.9.51-1 and 4.9.65-3 (the second upgrade was just yesterday, but I'm pretty sure the issue had already manifested before that). Looking at the Debian changelog, it seems there was a bunch of drm/i915 changes in 4.9.65-1, so maybe these changes cause the problem? I'm using X.org and Cinnamon environment, but I was easily able to reproduce the same issue with Gnome and Wayland. Package: apt-show-versions Version: 0.22.7 I often use apt-show-versions to quickly check what packages I have installed from a non-default release, like this: $ apt-show-versions -b |grep -v stretch However, presumably since 0.22.5, such output still lists all the packages that I don't have installed at all. Right now, I'm adding a second |grep command to filter these out, but I'm much rather just use an additional command-line argument. By the way, I'm not sure if echoing not installed packages in lists by default makes much sense. Perhaps that additional argument should instead be used to toggle these on, not off? Cheers!
Bug#635748: [pgadmin3] Does not respect system background colors in "Object browser"

They are important to us. I'd have been happy to apply it if > there would be another release of pgadmin3. > Yeah, I saw that pgadmin4 is on the way. However, perhaps it would make sense to apply this at least as a Debian patch, since I doubt that pgadmin4 will become available in official Debian or Ubuntu repositories anytime soon. Or will it? Bug#635748: [pgadmin3] Does not respect system background colors in "Object browser"
Hi Guillaume, I just want to say that your patch doesn't quite work as expected. Instead of just using system default colour unless custom colour is set, Pgadmin actually stores that default colour in server configuration, and always sets it explicitly. This isn't a problem until you change the theme you use, but once you do (like I switched from light to dark theme), all your servers are suddently using a colour that is no longer the default. I think the correct behavior would be not to store colour in the configuration unless the user sets it explicitly. This way, even if PgAdmin stores the default upon initial creation, the user could clear that setting manually and it would then always be treated as empty instead of being reset to the default colour on first run. Ideally, it would even be possible to disable custom colour via a checkbox or something like that. I made a small patch, which prevents storing the empty setting. However, it is incomplete due to the server dialog now erring upon load, because it actually expects a colour value. I believe this should be easy to fix for someone familiar with the code though. I'm attaching this half-baked patch. Feel free to apply it if PgAdmin is still to be supported for some time. Bug#838098: Allow hooking ACL condition blocks similarly to routers, transports and other settings
Package: exim4-config Version: 4.87-3 Since Exim4 requires each ACL to be specified by name, and exim4-config ships some ACL's, it becomes a bit difficult for external packages to add to these ACL's. One option is to specify one of the CHECK_*_LOCAL_ACL_FILE macros, but ideally, this would be reserved for the user to set, and either way, if more than one package would define this, it would either break the configuration or lead to unexpected results (only one package's file being read). What's even worse is that for example CHECK_RCPT_LOCAL_ACL_FILE is being read after the following statements: # Insist that any other recipient address that we accept is either in one of # our local domains, or is in a domain for which we explicitly allow # relaying. Any other domain is rejected as being unacceptable for relaying. require message = relay not permitted domains = +local_domains : +relay_to_domains # We also require all accepted addresses to be verifiable. This check will # do local part verification for local domains, but only check the domain # for remote domains. require verify = recipient which makes it impossible to use add alternative accept rules before these ones. I suggest to implement ACL's in the same fashion as other parts of the configuration. In particular, I'd like to see default ACL's split into multiple number-prefixed files, one of them being the header, and others containing one or more condition blocks. This way other packages could add their own files with their conditions easily, instead of having to patch the configuration files shipped by another package (which is what greylistd package does, to the best of my understanding). This would also allow packages to specify their own accept rules, without altering +local_domains or +relay_to_domains. Exim 4 also allows having quite a few more ACL's than Debian currently ships. I think it makes sense to ship all of these by default, even if empty, so that other packages wouldn't have to specify them, thus being in risk of conflict with other packages doing that as well.

Bug#660306: iceweasel: revert Iceweasel branding to Firefox
Package: iceweasel Version: 10.0.11esr-1 Followup-For: Bug #660306 Dear Maintainer, I'd like to remind you about this issue. The reasons behind Ice* branding are long gone, so please revert those names back to originals, or at least give us an option to install official branding as a separate package. It's of course mostly a psychological issue, but I personally prefer to have a shortcut to the well-known application on my desktop instead of a shortcut to its 'inferior' (even if just in terms of branding) cousin. In fact, this branding alone has caused me to download and use Firefox from mozilla.org, even though I strongly prefer packaged applications. ISTR that the amount of common files was of a non-trivial size, and that to have a arch:all common package would save a bit of disk space on the servers. I checked, and this isn't the case. Bug#594571: SuPHP and PHP5 on Debian Squeeze
libapache2-mod-suphp DOES NOT conflict with libapache2-mod-php5, just their configs aren't in sync, as stated in previous comments. In fact, libapache2-mod-php5 is still pretty much required if you have any of the php applications installed as debs (e.g. I have phpmyadmin and roundcube). The files in these packages are owned by root, so they shouldn't be suphp'd. Here's what worked for me. Everythind runs under suphp for me except those php applications installed from packages: 1) remove /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/php5.conf (leave php5.load untouched) 2) put the following into /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/suphp.conf: *** FROM HERE *** IfModule mod_suphp.c FilesMatch \.ph(p3?|tml)$ SetHandler application/x-httpd-suphp suPHP_AddHandler application/x-httpd-suphp /FilesMatch Directory / suPHP_Engine on /Directory # By default, disable suPHP for debian packaged web applications as files # are owned by root and cannot be executed by suPHP because of min_uid. Bug#592787: caff: $CONFIG{'email'} is not being used for MAIL FROM command
Package: signing-party Version: 1.1.3-1 Severity: important I have my e-mail specified in ~/.caffrc. I also use the following mailer config: $CONFIG{'mailer-send'} = [ 'smtp', Debug = 5, Server = 'smtp.example.org', Auth = ['m...@example2.org', 'mypassword'] ]; My SMTP server requires myself to authenticate using my email address and also requires MAIL FROM: command to contain that email address. The problem is that when I use caff, the email address for MAIL FROM command is being composed from my username and the local hostname, thus becoming r...@suga r in my case, which is of course not what the server expects. Thus, I effectively cannot send out my signatures at the moment. Here's the relevant debug output: [WARN] You have set arguments to pass to Mail::Mailer. Better fix your MTA. Bug#301543: Base6to4Interface problem in radvd
Package: radvd Version: 1:0.7.2-7 Severity: important Hi, i've pasted the following example from man radvd.conf to my real radvd.conf: interface eth0 { AdvSendAdvert on; # Advertise at least every 30 seconds MaxRtrAdvInterval 30; prefix 0:0:0:5678::/64 { AdvOnLink on; AdvAutonomous on; Base6to4Interface ppp0; # Very short lifetimes for dynamic addresses AdvValidLifetime 300; AdvPreferredLifetime 120; }; }; and only changed the first line to interface eth1 (eth0 is where my pppoe modem is connected to), and the prefix line to prefix 0:0:0:f00f::/64. Radvd runs just fine, except one major misbehaviour: the computers in my LAN get assigned an IPv6 addresses in form of 0:WWXX:YYZZ:f00f::/64 instead of 2002:WWXX:YYZZ:f00f::/64. Weird, isn't it? I suppose it's a bug in radvd. For me, it's quite an important one. :/ Any ideas? Thanks, Rimas signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

If you want to actually help then you really should test the packages from the.earth.li and feedback to the alioth project lists at: http://alioth.debian.org/mail/?group_id=30247 Ha. So my first complaint is: you don't provide an xfce4 package. :) Should I join any of those lists you mentioned? Even more people saying they work fine or that they don't would be useful. Yeah, i know. However, some people might never test 4.2 until it's in unstable at least. Would anyone please upload 4.2.(0|1) to at least experimental (I'd love to see them in unstable though). I would test them on my sid box at work. Maybe, others would do that too. I can't currently as I don't have a key in the keyring yet. I need to sort this out but also probably need to think about getting a sponsor for the existing packages. How about the official xfce4 package maintainers? Bug#291382: Save all dialog has no way to save attachments to current folder
Package: mozilla-thunderbird Version: 1.0-3 Severity: minor Save All dialog behaves illogically. For example, if you want to save attachments to a new folder, you have to: * create a folder in that dialog * *** go up one dir *** WHY THE HELL??? * click on a newly created folder and save attachments to it. Also, if you want to save all attachments from another message to the same folder, again you have to go upstairs and select that folder, and click on Select then. This is a UI bug, not something that stops thunderbird from working normally, but this bug is really annoying. :/ Btw, in Windows, both Thunderbird and Firefox use native dialogs, provided by an OS.
