When using multipath, it is possible that mountroot() will race with
udev's renaming of /dev/disk/by-uuid/{rootfs-uuid} from /dev/sd?? to
/dev/mapper/something. After multipath has grabbed the /dev/sd?? and
until udev completes the rename, mounting
/dev/disk/by-uuid/{rootfs-uuid} will fail with -EBUSY.
Here is a patch I've been using successfully for awhile. Colin Watson
has suggested that:
A poll/retry loop is generally a suboptimal way to do this kind of
thing; what we really want is to wait for udev to tell us that it has
finished with the event that triggered renaming of the device.
which does seem cleaner.

Each time when it comes to upgrade the kernel (I simply do 'apt-get upgrade' to upgrade my system) the installation script of linux-image package screws up the settings in /boot/grub/menu.lst ! I have such a line kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-6-amd64 root=/dev/sda7 ro in my menu.lst -- it's default setting (it was done like this during initial system installation). Martin, I have no idea which image I used. The only thing that I can say is that I used an image from your unofficial pages at the time. my lost and found on my root device /dev/sda1 in an ext3 partition created on 22 dec 2006. So that is the date that my NSLU2 was installed using an image from your website. At the time that was not a debian official installer but an image that you could install to run debian. Maybe that is what is biting me now. I will try your suggestion with upslug2. and the image you suggest. Do I let you and the bug report know what the result was? Dear Michael, I have just reflashed as per you suggestion. Yes, the link you offered worked! I now have a 2.6.26 kernel running on my NSLU2. That means in effect that the base installer image I ran at the time had a too small root partition for a modern kernel. Thank you for supplying me with a running image that works. Hi, I have the exact same problem ... According to the FAQ (http://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/FAQ#head-d2b370740516f1e113719a733d9 ecb324f61ff4f), the tg3 firmware does not meet the requirements of the DFSG. The one shipped with Debian Installer rc1 is 2.6.17. Probably, the daily build installer already incorporates the 2.6.18 kernel. Using the (K)ubuntu live-cd I get +- 1650 MB/sec. I tried this on 3 different laptops. Any ideas what the reason might be ? Hit the same bug yesterday. Debian 3.1 r1a, bought on DVDs. Pentium 4 2.40GHz, 1Gb RAM, ST Lab A162 PCI ATA 133 IDE controller, two Seagate Barracuda ST3250823A 250 Gb HDDs. Attempts to enable any kind of quotas for XFS mounted as the root file system resulted in it being mounted ro. Passing the kernel the parameter rootflags=quota eliminated the problem. Bug#366865: evolution start loads processor at 100%
Package: evolution Version: 2.6.1-2 Severity: normal starting evolution loads processor to 100% with dbus error messages. this make the system unresponsive. I am unsure whether this is caused by a plugin. I am using the exchange connection and 2 imap connections. The system functions barely. Sluggish behavior. When exection of Evolution is halted(^Z) the system is becomes responsive. Evolution shutdown can lasts up to 3+ minutes. The system is barly usable to unusable in the meantime. In a continous loop the following error message appears: libnm_glib_dbus_init: error, org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply raised: No reply within specified time I have tried to report this as grave but the rportbug has classified this as normal. Email functionality using evolution is unusable. My alternatives are by preference: - for imap mutt - for exchange webmail. This is im my view normal use of Evolution. This bug/glitch makes Evolution as a software package irrelevant (not worthy of consideratino for use.) I have seen a previous report that is simalar and the bug has been declared solved. I am willing to assist in resolution. i.e. will help in testing or trial and error resolution. My kernel is 2.4.22, and I also had this problem. This problem is because load.c from iqrbase sources references to cli(), saveflags(), restore_flags(), # define cli() local_irq_disable() # define save_flags(x) local_save_flags(x) # define restore_flags(x) local_irq_restore(x) which are in fact defined in linux/interrupt.h. The compiler gives the warnings concerning implicit declarations of these functions. Inserting #include linux/interrupts.h into load.c results in the compilation of the module stops due to errors. I simply added the definitions to load.c, and recompile irqbase. Now it works. Hi! I also had this this problem. The workaround is to remove /etc/irda.conf and then install the package. It looks like that the preinst script does not parse the old config in a proper way. I can confirm that the bug is solved with the patch earlier http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2005-April/012338.html I updated the Sarge package - rsync version 2.6.4-6 with it and testrunned it using the --delete option, which works as expected. 'rsync_2.6.4-6.svg1_i386.deb' and full source can be downloaded here: http://www.vanginderachter.be/downloads/debian/ I tried to build this package the Debian way, but as my experience with customising debian packages is very limited, it might be good if some more people could verify. Also, don't hesitate on giving me any feedback I could learn from, thanks. I will further monitor the behavior of rsnapshot, which was broken in Sarge because of this bug.
