SSH potato = woody

¿Alguna idea? ¿Me funcionaria GRUB? Gracias de antemano. Feliz Navidad.

In Debian woody, what packages are required? I did this a few weeks ago, but let's see.. I'm assuming you don't want to get the deb package, which is why you have the tarball. I'm thinking you'll need bison, flex, gcc, autoconf, automake, autotools-dev.. I think that's it, unless you want freetype, gd, libpng, etc. If you want those extras, you'll likely need the -dev versions as well (for example, for libpng support you'll want libpng-dev). Plip problems: do I need NFS server?
I'm trying to set up plip on my desktop and laptop. Plip now runs, but I'm not sure how to continue. I'm working through the NFS Howto, with moderate success only. Anything else I should be reading? Question: is it essential to have a NFS server running on both machines or is portmap enough? If it is essential, I have a problem, because both nfs-kernel-server and nfs-user-server fail to install properly on my laptop. Bonjour: Thanks for your messages: let me be more specific. I am trying to build a 2.2.19 kernel with the Debian kernel-package for a Tow Processors AMD computer with an RTL8139 ethernet card. X unstable with S3 server - fonts broken with SVGA server
Hi, At home I have a potato box. It's an x86 PC, P233MMX, 96Mb RAM, all pretty conventional except that the primary HD and floppy channels are dead (free motherboard :-) so they are served via an isa multi IO card. I can't get X to work reliably. The video card is a 'Diamond stealth 64' - ie an S3 Trio64 chip. 1Mb RAM. If I use the S3 server then the machine just hangs after 10-20 minutes, apparently during an HD access because the HD light is stuck on and there is often filesystem corruption when I reboot. It never crashes when the same machine is left (with X still running) but in a text mode. It can run for days like this. I have no idea how to trace this bug - any suggestions. I assume this is a hardware interaction problem. Are there speed options I can turn down somewhere. Are there S3 server options I can turn on/off to see if it helps? Recently I changed to using the VGA server on this card for a bit. Horrible display but no crashes for some hours - seems stable. Next I installed the SVGA server and that also doesn't seem to cause crashes when left sitting there but I can't really use it as something is badly wrong with the display of fonts. Many font are just random blockiness where the writing should be. gdm (ie gnome) menu text is OK but the 'welcome' and user/password text is unreadble. Xterms are illegible as are eterms and gnome terminal. emacs body text is OK but the menus are illegible. Gnome Help browser links are illegible. Gnome filer text is OK as are all the menus. I don't know how all these fonts are generated but I assume the broken ones are all generated or rendered in the same way. Anyone seen this before? I'd like to either make the S3 server work reliably or the SVGA server display fonts. TIA please cc me responses. If you put cout iter1: *iter2 \titer2: *iter2 \n; immediately following those find statements, you'll get the output iter1: } iter2: } which means the find statements aren't doing what you want. The for loop is working fine, however. I don't know much about istream_iterators, and I don't have any of my C++ books on me right now to look it up. However, I'd guess the problem is in your initialization of iter2 and eof. They'd need to be initialized to something that points to something in input after iter1 for the find algorithm to work. You didn't get the expected printing of *iter1 and *iter2 because you have a typo. The printing line uses *iter2 where you wanted *iter1. As for the initialization of iter2 and eof, as far as I know they assume the default value, which is EOF. Beside, having it compiled without errors/warnings although gdb comment that there is no != method is odd. for (; iter1 != iter2; iter1++) cout *iter1; cout \n; return 0; } $ g++-3.0 -Wall -ggdb -o main main.cc $ $ ./main $ gdb main (gdb) b 15 Breakpoint 1 at 0x804d6b8: file main.cc, line 15. Don't know exactly what the OP wants to do, but he might try something like this, which will print everything between the first line that starts with { and the fist one that starts with } afterwards. #include iostream #include string #include fstream using namespace std; int main() { string s; ifstream in(main.cc); while(getline(in, s, '\n') s[0] != '{'); while(getline(in, s, '\n') s[0] != '}') cout s '\n'; } HTH Alec
