[Declude.JunkMail] Spamreview
Scott, We have switched email systems and will no longer be supporting SpamReview. It is written in VB6.0. You have any suggestions of someone that we can turn it over to? RE: [Declude.JunkMail] SpamReview Request - Delete All
Roger, Using standard windows select capibilities you may select multiple entries with the Shift and Ctrl keys or select all entries using Ctrl-A. After selecting multiple entries you can use all the normal functions such as Delete or Move just like you would use them on one selected entry. Will this take care of your request or would the buttons be better? Now for another request. two more buttons: Delete All - Deletes all entries. Delete All and Exit - Deletes all entries then exits (deleting deleted if switch is 'on') This is really want is needed. This way one may inspect select messages and manage them then delete the rest in one blow. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] OT- SpamReview the Kill File
Thanks for the information. I am fairly sure I am handling it according to Scott's recomendations but you never know. I will review the process again and make sure I am doing it right. I will then post the details so everyone knows how it works and can offer additional comments. Reviewing spam and virus emails that are held in your folder is a snap with this software. Without it you have to open the file in and editor and go through each individual file looking for things. then manually move both files back into que with this product you just point click and thats it quick and efficient. I am sure the developer would take all constructive critisism and suggestions and try to implement a fix. [Declude.JunkMail] SpamReview Update and From EMail Discussion
To SpamReview Users, v1.0.47 is now available. If you are already using v1.0.45 just click on File/Check for Program Updates to download the new version. Changes in this version. SpamReview now extracts the From email address for the list from the Q file if you have theShow Subject in List option selected in the Settings. Added a new field in the Settings so you can configure a string to use when trying to locate the From email address in the settings file. By default X-Declude-Sender: is used since Declude already includes this in the message if you have XSENDER ON set in the global.cfg file. No changes were made to the Add to Kill except to use the new string to locate the From email address. -- I hope this helps resolve some of the problems, questions, and confusion. -- A few weeks ago I started to update the web page. You can find help here. http://www.slsoft.com/spamreviewhelp.htm You can also find some of the following discussion regarding the From EMail address in the QA section. Here it is in text form. Q. Where does SpamReview get the From EMail address from? A. The From EMail Address can come from a couple of different places depending on how SpamReview is configured in the Settings. If you have selected the Show Subject in List option then the From EMail Address comes from the Q file using the Locate From EMail Address String: value in the Settings. If the Show Subject in List option is not selected the From EMail Address comes from the D file. In this case it may not be right but it's the best we have since we have not read the Q file yet. The Default Value for Locate From EMail Address String: is X-Declude-Sender:. You must have XSENDER ON in the global.cfg file for this to work. If you have setup your own custom method for doing this just make sure the resulting string has one and only one space between your text and the start of the email address. ex. MyFromEMailAddress: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Important Note: Regardless of the Settings, the From EMail address located by using the Locate From EMail Address String: is used when adding to the kill.lst file. There are no exceptions to this. If you have not properly matched the SpamReview Settings with the Declude JunkMail settings you will get a blank entry in the kill.lst file. --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list. [Declude.JunkMail] Spamreview Software Request
I have been looking back through my email trying to catch up and have noticed a few messages related to spamreview. As the developer I have no problem with this software being discussed here but would prefer all problem related issues be directed to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Not that it bothers me for others to see the problems but I'm sure Scott would rather not clutter this group with issues he has no control over. When I get busy I don't check these messages every day. I check [EMAIL PROTECTED] every 5 minutes. Several have reported problems and new feature possibilities. I have fixed most the programs the same or next day or already had a fix and was testing it when someone else reported it. The current version is 1.0.45. Click File/Check For Program Updates to download this version. It fixes major problems with lockups. Current Issues: 1. The web site stinks and I need to do a better job keeping it up to date. 2. Yes, there is an issue with the kill.lst file. As one pointed out, it's working for me so it's hard to debug. Several have provided information but so far nothing has worked. I will get it fixed as soon as I can. 3. There is a problem with the Out Of Office mode where it does not filter all the messages. I will fix this as soon as I can. For now when you come out of Out Of Office mode Apply Filters before you start to delete email. --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Wish List
I'm already doing this. I have a program on the server that runs 24x7 and checks a specific email account every minute. In my case the email account is [EMAIL PROTECTED] This works with IMail Rules file. The process is as follows: You, as an email users, forward the email in question to [EMAIL PROTECTED] This program sees the email, strips it down, and replys to you with information about what email address it is going to add to the IMail rules. If you reply to this email it is added to your Rules and IMail takes care of all email from that address in the future. I could add this to SpamReview, if you like and it would work in the Out-Of-Office Mode, or make it a seperate program. However, as Scott points out it will not be perfect. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of R. [Declude.JunkMail] SpamReview Beta Update
I just posted an update to the Beta version of SpamReview (v1.0.27). I had to remove the Spool features for now. I need more time to help keep us all out of trouble. I added an update feature that will allow you to select File/Check for Program Updates and SpamReview will be updated from our web site. SpamReview will close, the update program will run, and SpamReview will be loaded again. The update program MUST be launched from SpamReview. I also added the ability for you to select multiple emails using the standard windows features for selecting items in a list. I added a count also. It will tell you how many emails you have in the folder you select. If you are one of the lucky ones that works with thousands of emails let me know if this count is slowing you down too much. I added some buttons to make it easier to select folders. http://www.slsoft.com/spamreview.htm Tom --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list. [Declude.JunkMail] Header/Body
Using Outlook Express I cannot find a way to setup a Message Rule that looks at the Header. Am I missing something? I'm told that you cannot setup a Message Rule in Netscape that looks at the Body of the message. Is this true? Once I have an answer for these questions I may have a follow-up. [Declude.JunkMail] SpamReview Note
To all that are using spamreview... If it appears that spamreview is locking up it may be because it is trying to load a large message and/or a large number of messages. To resolve the problem make sure you have v1.0.12. If you don't, you can download it at http://www.slsoft.com/spamreview.htm. Next... Go into the Settings and enter a numeric value in the Truncate Message Size field. I use 5000 bytes but others use a value much greater. Regardless, make it a size that you are willing to live with. I am working on a new version. This version does a better job of telling you that it's working so you know something is going on. It also includes several other features you have requested, but not all of them. It should be available sometime next week but I have to travel again so who knows. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Spam Review and Kill File
I use the D file for the list so I think I have the right email address. Is this correct Scott? This was my thought. If you delete the email you are saying it is spam. However, it has already been noted that you might want to change it just in case. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Todd Holt Sent: Wednesday, January 30, 2002 6:33 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Spam Review and Kill File I would prefer a separate button. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] spamreview headers
Yes, this is true, for now. I have a fix that will be in the next release. (waiting on an email from Scott to confirm) However, I like including warnings in the header so I can see why the email was put in the Hold state. Spamview will display all warnings from the Headers and Body in the Junk Mail Warnings box. Check with Declude on how to put the warnings in the header. [Declude.JunkMail] Hold Que Software
Hello, Has anyone written a program to help review the email in the Spam folder? If so, where can I get a copy? If not, last night I wrote a quick little program that lists all the email in the Spam folder. It let's you review each email and let's you delete it or move it back for delivery. It's quick and dirty but if nothing else is available and a few people are interested I would be glad to clean it up and pass it along (free). It's written in VB6.0 and I would be glad to include the code. If you are interested please email me offline at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tom --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list. [Declude.JunkMail] Spam Review Program
I have received several replies. If it's ok with Declude, I will post the download address on this list. If someone from Declude would reply to me I would appreciate it. This program will be Freeware (I hate spam) and will only be supported to the extent that I have time to support it (I have a real job). I will be using it on a daily basis so I will be adding features and fixing bugs when needed. I will provide the source code to those that want it. Test it carefully yourself. I will not be responsible for problems that may occur. Program Notes: This program is written in VB6.0. You give it the path to your IMail spool folder and it locates the spam email that is in hold by looking in the spam folder under the spool folder. ex. c:\imail\spool\spam. A list of all the files in the spam hold folder come up in a list box. It includes the name of the file, date, from address, to address. Selecting an email in the list displays information in three boxes. The header, the declude warnings, and the body of the message. You can click on View HTML and view the body in a browser format. You can click on Move To Deleted and the selected email is moved to a deleted folder under the spam folder. The selected email is removed from the spam hold folder. You can click on Return To Que and the email will be moved back to the spool folder. The selected email is removed from the spam hold folder. A Refresh button let's you refresh the list. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] MISSING_REVERSE_DNS:Newbie questions on filters charging
We are not an ISP but support several small companies, including some churches. When we first located Declude we talked to our customers and overwhelmingly they agreed to pay a premium for the service. We raised our rates just enough to cover the cost and nobody has complained. On top of that we picked up a couple of customers just because we provide the service. I suggest using the settings provided by Declude. Watch them for awhile and tweak them as needed. I'm a new user to declude's products, so sorry if I'm asking things that were asked recently. We're trying to build some good filters that will eliminate real junk without blocking valid messages. I'm guessing this might cover 70-80% of the junk without blocking most valid messages. Does this sound reasonable? Is there a sample setting file that people start with (besides with the default which does not block anything)? A second question - is anyone charging a premium for AntiVirus and AntiSpam email, and if so, how much? Per email account? Per domain?
