[Bug 484043] [NEW] double click full screen plugin - undesired behaviour

2009-11-16 Thread Chris Billington
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

This bug/feature request regards eye of gnome 2.28.1, which I'm running
on ubuntu 9.10.

When the "Fullscreen with double click" plugin is enabled, and when
viewing a large image full screen, there is is scroll bar on the right.
Clicking the scroll arrows scrolls as desired, but if you click too
rapidly, it counts as a double-click and the image reverts back to being
displayed in a window.

The same applies when viewing in a window and scrolling, double-clicking
the scroll arrows triggers the image to be displayed fullscreen.

Since clicking scroll buttons rapidly is pretty common, I think the
desired behaviour for this should be that double clicks be ignored on
the scrollbar and only trigger the fullscreen/window change when they
are on the image itself.

[Bug 484036] Re: Nautilus Desktop does not display Files Pasred to Desktop until reboot

2009-11-16 Thread rseascaoe
The process was copying files (avi) from a folder created in
Home/documents to the desktop by right clicking on the file and
selecting copy, and then right clicking on the desktop and pasting the
filecopying takes place, but after quite a few, the desktop will not
display the files...reboot solves the problem. I have been tracking this
bug for some time and trying to find out just how to reproduce it
continually.

[Bug 484036] [NEW] Nautilus Desktop does not display Files Pasred to Desktop until reboot

2009-11-16 Thread rseascaoe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When copying files from a document folder to the desktop, after several
(More than seven) copy and paste processes...Nautilus does not display
the files being copied. They are not visible until the computer
reboots/restarted. This is a persist-ant bug that was also present in
Jaunty amd64. The size of the files seems to be the culprit. Copying and
pasting small files and folders does not trigger this bug. It is when
you copy files 700MB or larger (organizing avi files) that the desktop
malfunctions.

[Bug 484018] [NEW] F-spot deletes pictures from camera instead of hard drive after seemingly importing a roll

2009-11-16 Thread Murrquan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

PROBLEM

F-Spot is unclear about when it's imported pictures, and when you're
just viewing them on your camera. This can lead to unfortunate loss of
data.

HOW TO REPRODUCE

1. Connect a digital camera to your computer. Make sure that your camera is
turned on and has photos on its internal memory or memory card.
2. Select the option that says to import photos to F-Spot, on the dialog box
that appears.
3. Wait for thumbnails to load.
4. Uncheck the option that says to copy the photos to Photos, since you have
your own folder organization scheme.
5. Highlight the photos that you want to copy.
6. Click on the button to import them.
7. Watch all of the photos, including the ones you did not highlight, appear in
F-Spot's main window.
8. Conclude, erroneously, that F-Spot just imported all of your photos,
including the album art on your smartphone's memory card and the pics of your
significant other.
9. Highlight the photos you didn't want imported, and select delete from drive.
10. OPTIONAL: Access your smartphone's memory card and delete all the photos
you've just copied in order to make room for more, and so that they don't show
up in the thumbnails the next time you try to import to F-Spot.
11. Double-click on one of the thumbnails of the photos you "imported" in
F-Spot's main window. Note that a placeholder image appears.
12. Realize you just lost all your pictures.

COMMENTARY

F-Spot's user interface may be unclear about when the pictures you're
viewing are still on the camera, and when they are now on your hard
drive.

[Bug 319575] Re: multiload-applet + sshfs breaks suspend

2009-11-16 Thread Sebastian Thürrschmidt
The bug remains unfixed in Karmic with Gnome 2.29.1. I stumbled on this
bug report (excellent work from Bogdan, btw) after I had, for the
umpteenth time, lost suspend on my MacBook 4,1 with Ubuntu. It is indeed
the combination of the disk load monitor with an active sshfs mount that
blocks the multiload-applet task and causes any suspend attempt to fail.
It wasn't easy to figure this out, with truncated "multiload-apple"
[sic] strings in my log files being one of the major hurdles.

Bogdan, would you please go the trouble of reporting this on Gnome's
bugzilla? We really need to take the detective work out of a functioning
suspend/hibernate. Thank you very much!

[Bug 483989] [NEW] Importing from Samba share extremely slow: "Internal GStreamer problem; file a bug"

2009-11-16 Thread Matt Wolfgang
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I am attempting to import my music over a samba share from another
Ubuntu 9.10 box. The music is being imported very slowly and has
returned loads of import errors as described in the summary.

"Internal GStreamer problem; file a bug"

At first I thought it wasn't importing recursively, as it imported the
files directly in the primary directory quickly, but after about 20
minutes I started seeing some of the files from subdirectories appear.

I have attempted to import directly over samba (i.e.
smb://servername/music) and as a mounted directory (i.e.
file:///media/music).

I've seen this problem reported over and over going back to Gutsy, but still no
resolution?

After ~1 hour of importing I have 186 out of over 10,000 songs imported.
This process took only about a minute on the machine where the files
reside.

Re: [Bug 444881] Re: [Karmic] Battery monitor applet doesn't show battery remaining time

2009-11-16 Thread Dylan McCall
It has been confirmed that this specific issue is very real. Therefore,
I ask that anything with different symptoms be filed in different bug
reports. (This includes gnome-power-manager reporting inaccurate battery
level percentages. In this case, it knows the percentage).

The bug is not present on my Asus f8sv-a1, so it is hardware-specific.

I suspect that it may be apt to file this against devicekit-power, but I
think having some feedback from people who maintain this package would
help, first, before we start throwing around more emails :)

Anyone? ...Anyone?...

[Bug 483946] Re: impossible de demarrer le pipeline de lecture de radio

2009-11-16 Thread YannUbuntu
For non-French-speaking people: here is an (approximative) translation
of the error message: "Impossible to start the radio player pipeline."

This bug has been confirmed by ~10 persons on ubuntu-fr forums (I
confirm it too). Here is one thread: http://forum.ubuntu-
fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=3073040

For example: http://cache.yacast.fr/V4/player_europe2/europe2.asx , and
mms://stream.tv-radio.com/classics-128k
don't work for one Karmic user called "girafe" in the thread.
He has gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg , gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly ,
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse packages installed.
On the other hand, he says mp3 ou m3u radios are ok.

[Bug 428703] Re: Firefox search bar bug -Auto highlight

2009-11-16 Thread Ryan O'Shea
Just so you know, I've had this bug since I installed Ubuntu 6 months
ago, on every version of Firefox and every fresh install of Ubuntu I've
done on every system.

If you quickly type gibberish in the address bar, once you reach a
certain length, it will stop highlighting, allowing you to type what you
want and then delete the initial characters.

It's a pain but hopefully the bug will be fixed soon and at least for
me, after a few minutes the issue goes away.

[Bug 483957] [NEW] Gimp freezes with Drop Shadow, crashes system, need power down

2009-11-16 Thread MikeRich
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

When using gimp-2.6.7-1ubuntu1 in Ubuntu 9.10, GIMP will freeze after a
few modifications to an image, most often applying filters such as Drop
Shadow. The system will also crash; the mouse is able to move and
windows can be moved around the screen, but no buttons or menu items can
be clicked. Killing gimp from a terminal does not restore system
functionality. Rebooting using telinit 6 brings the system down, but it
never reaches login screen. Only a complete power-down of the system
allows it to boot normally.

[Bug 483947] [NEW] glChess requires additional packages to play in 3dview

2009-11-16 Thread Murrquan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games

PROBLEM:

A standard install of the gnome-games package does not include the
packages needed to play the Chess game in 3d.

HOW TO REPRODUCE:

1. Install gnome-games, if it isn't already installed.
2. Click on Chess.
3. Note the bland 2d graphics.
4. Click on Settings -> Preferences, looking for a way to make it look nicer.
5. Note the option that says to use 3d mode.
6. Click on that, and read the dialog box explaining that Python OpenGL and
other bindings have to be installed first, and suggesting you contact your
system administrator.
7. Note that the chess game still isn't in 3d.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR:

Chess game will be in 3d when the box to play it in 3d is checked.
(Although other bug reports suggest crashes when 3d is enabled, which
does complicate things.)

Just a comment, i already installed the telepathy-sofiasip.

Have "fixed" it. Actually, closing empathy was not enough. I had to run a
pkill mission-control-5
and then start empathy, this made it work.

[Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs

2009-11-16 Thread tim pezarro
Hello,

I have also added a strace file for the error I experience.

This is the error message for the file "samba_error.txt"

"Could not save the file /media/webteam
pezarro/tmp/samba_error.txt.
Unexpected error: Text file busy"

The attached zip file "gedit-error.zip" has strace log called
"filterthisaway.log" and mount listing called "mounts.txt"

I hope this helps correct the gedit bug.

Cheers,

[Bug 118800] Re: Passwords should not be required when creating accounts

2009-11-16 Thread Ari
In a "shared family computer" where the PC automatically logins a random user,
this "feature" in empathy is useless, and actually puts your passwords at
risks. It is quite curious that empathy does not allow configuring accounts in
such a way that it asks for the password everytime it connects, if the user so
wishes.
I'm hoping at some point the app will mature and add this functionality

[Bug 483911] [NEW] Panel moves to the centre of the screen when using autohide and left positioning.

2009-11-16 Thread Giacinto Palmieri
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Using Ubuntu 9.10, I have moved the main panel to the left of the
screen, selected "autohide" and de-selected "expand". When I move the
cursor over the area the panel "jumps" to the middle of the screen, as
shown in the screenshot attached, and returns to the left as hidden
panel, instead of appearing on the place. The movement is very rapid and
clicking on the panel results impossible.

[Bug 11222] Re: Add auto-organize support to Rhythmbox

2009-11-16 Thread Cyberkilla
It is a bit pointless to use a fancy GUI music manager when you still
have to maintain the integrity of your library folder yourself.

If the tracks are sorted into folders by artist and album, those folders
should update to reflect any changes in the metadata of the tracks
themselves. If this is not the case, you end up with a directory
structure that is inaccurate and misleading.

Perhaps it is a product of people coming from Windows, expecting to be
able to organise their music in the same way. I don't buy that though.

Supposedly, Amerok organises your library. Banshee certainly does.
In addition, so to iTunes and WMP11.

Rhythmbox is missing a rather common feature.

[Bug 483878] [NEW] notification applet icon size to big

2009-11-16 Thread Marc
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

My panel hight is 32 pixel.

Before Ubuntu 09.10 everthing was fine, the notification applet icons
used 24px Icons and Quick-Start-Icons were 32px high.

Now, the notification applet icons are 32px (Pidgen, Banshee,
Parcellite) high.

If I reduce the panel height to 30 Pixel the notification applet icons
go down to 24px, but also the other icons.

I think it should be like bevor 09.10:
notification applet: 24px
other: 32px

[Bug 478308] Re: Dim when idle won't turn off

2009-11-16 Thread Chris Coulson
Does it dim even without gnome-power-manager running? Your log shows the
idle state changing, but it also shows that it isn't dimming the screen
on idle (it shows that the backlight is dimmed to 50% due to you being
on battery)

[Bug 483643] Re: get ares

2009-11-16 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.
