Dear lvo, The errors are the strings in contents tab of help are all in English. We have translated them and uploaded the sdf file to the site indicated below. The screenshot of the the help page is attatched to this mail. The string you have indicated on the previous mail was forgotten mistakenly. Sorry for the inconvenience. But we have translated all the strings in the contents tab now and updated the sdf file. The other errors are in the file: officecfg\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\UI.po, there are some wrong translations. We have also fixed it. [l10n-dev] extensions to be included in the install set
Dear All, We have been localizing OpenOffice.org to Oromo Language and the test build is available now. We have also two extensions available for this version of OpenOffice.org: Oromo Spellchecker and Oromo thesaurus. [l10n-dev] Why Installation wizard strings under contents tab of help still in English?
Hi all, We have already translated almost all of the UI and help part. But the localized build of openoffice.org for our language - Oromo(om) has untranslated parts. For example on Help the strings under contents tab are still English, on UI the installation wizard is still fully in English. How can we get those strings in our language? [l10n-dev] Why \\t changes to \\\t automatically?
Hi all, In our po files, the source string has two back slashes for tab as follows: \\t But in our translation, when we use two back slashes it will automatically be changed to three back slashes as follows: \\\t This inturn caused gsicheck to complain error. Hi all, We have finalized our translation and fixed most of the error using translate toolkit. We also already converted our po files to sdf and cecked it with gsicheck. After fixing the errors gsicheck finally showed no error. Does this garuantee that we can upload our translation sdf file so that it will not crash the build? Hi all, The sentence structure of the language(Oromo Language) for which we are doing the translation is different from English. Hence, when we translate the help files the order of the tags will be different from that for English. For example, English: Press item type=keycodeF6/item until the emphDrawing/emph toolbar is selected. Oromo: Hanga kamshaan emphFakkasaa/emph filatamutti item type=keycodeF6/item dhiibi. But, when we run pofilter command of translate toolkit on this translation file, the out put shows the following error: (pofilter) xmltags: checks that XML/HTML tags have not been translated. [l10n-dev] How to handle the character ' in our translations
Hi all , The Oromo Language - the language for which we are doing translation- has lots of words which when written have the character ' . Here are some examples showing translation of English words to Oromo Language: Load - Fe'i Save - Olkaa'i Add - Ida'i Substract - Hir'isi Multiply - Baay'isi , and so on. We have used this character as shown above in our translations. Is it correct or do we have to write it with escape character as follows? Fe\'i Olkaa\'i Ida\'i , etc... [l10n-dev] Waiting for NLC project setup for Oromo language
Hello all, We have proposed a Native-Language Project for Oromo Language 10 days ago. We are waiting for the project to be setup. Of course We have already started translation. i.e. We have translated more than 80% of the UI and above 50% of the help file, since our team is composed of a big number of motivated contributors. We have also requested for our language to be added on pootle server and the pootle admin told us that it will be added this week. Can we just continue the process without the project being set up or wait? In addition, Can anyone tell us when the project will be setup? In addition, is there any other way that openoffice.org be released in someone's language with out the project being setup if someone just translates more than 80% of both UI and the help contents, and uploads them? [l10n-dev] How long does it to take to release Openoffice?

It addresses 3 isues.About the target language, the project goal, and Our team. The target language Oromo Language(called Afaan Oromoo by the native speakers) is the first most spoken language in Ehiopia(more than 50%) and the horn of africa.Within Africa, it is the language with the fourth most speakers(more than 40 million), after Arabic, Swahili, Hausa. In addition to Ethiopia, it is spoken in Kenya, Somalia, Djibuti, Tanzania and many countries in the rest of the world. It is written with modified latin alphabet called Qubee. Although spoken widely, this language is used by people who live in the poor part of the world(daily income of less than $2 per person). So the translation of Openoffice to this language is very significant for this people. The Project Goal Our team needs the openoffice Writer to be translated to Afaan Oromoo, Inside the Native Language Confederation.We wish to register a level two project. We have also already established a team of contributors for this project. The team The Project initiators are from Ethiopia.All team members use Oromo Language as their first language. Our team comprizes:Dawit ..(the cordinator of this project) - Bsc. degree in Linguistics and Litrature. Has done lots of thesis on Afaan Oromoo.He is committed to act as a responsible entrepreneur and inspired many Afaan Oromo speaking people to participate in this project. Has developed some Applications and Database Systems in Afaan Oromoo.In addtion, some students and teachers of Addis Ababa University Department of Oromo Language will participate on this project.
