Hallo Reiko, and thank you for your contribution to the documentation. I
wanted to suggest a different name for the article though, since the
name doesn't suggest that it has something to do with the Pootle user
guide :-)

Perhaps something like [[Pootle User Guide/ja]] or [[あてもなくユーザー
ガイド]] (from Google machine translation :-)

Or is there already a policy on the wiki for handling translations? The
translations linked to from the front page does not seem to use a
consistent way of naming the translated articles, but I guess the native
name is good.

If it is moved, I'll also link to it from the Pootle wiki site, for the
benefit of all Japanese Pootle users.

Hi Reiko, Paolo,

As all the latest translations for OO.o are already in Pootle, I think
we don't have to export TM from other sources.

You can simply download all the contents of Pootle, merge all the po

Please refer to below page for how to create TM:

Yes, the latest TMs which includes the translation of 2.4.

Translators can use that TM on OmegaT or other
translation memory tool.

Last time, that TM worked very well and the translation
quality and efficiency was kept excellent.

2008-02-04 Thread Aijin Kim

Sorry, you even don't have to merge the po files.
I.e. the step to create tmx are:
1. download po files from Pootle
2. run po2tmx

Thanks,
Aijin

Hi Reiko, Paolo,

we don't have to export TM from other sources.

You can simply download all the contents of Pootle, merge all the po
files to a single file, and convert it to tmx file.

Hi Reiko and all,

I've updated the Pootle user guide:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Pootle_User_Guide

The major changes are:
- Adding 'translating off-line'
- Adding 'userguide for reviewers'
- Adding 'checking errors'
- Adding 'checking assignments'

If you have any suggestion to be added to the guide, please let me know.

Thanks,
Aijin

A sendmail issue of Pootle was already solved and it works both for
sun and non-sun address.
I've tested myself and confirmed that it works with sun address, I
also doubt some configuration issue as Alexandro mentioned. Can you
please check again with your mail configuration?

Let me ask three more questions. I've read user guide
but could not understand the following sections:

1. Menu names

Translating with Pootle
...
* Click on 'Quick Translate' or 'Translate All'.

I cannot find those menues in my editing fuctions.
Is this because of my permission ?

Yes, you need a proper permission. I can see you have two accounts,
'reiko' and 'reikos'. Could you let me know which one will you use so
that I can give you proper permission and remove unused one?
BTW, Will you be a project admin of Japanese in Pootle? If so, I'll
set the project admin right for you.

All I see is "Show Goals", "Show My Strings",
"Show Untranslated", and "Zip Folder".

2. How to Import/Export ?

If we want to work on OmegaT or other editor,
how can we export the files in .xlf or .po ?
Also how can we import (upload) the files
back to Pootle ?

I'm updating the user guide right now, and you'll be able to see the
section of 'Translating Off-line' soon.
Briefly, you can download the contents by file, folder or goal if you
have 'archive' permission. And you can upload files with a 'upload'
button on the right side of the web page.

I'll get back to you with updated guide. :)

I'd like to reminder that the default permission when you register

*Release schedule for OpenOffice.org 3.0 release:*
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OOoRelease30
*
Final Translation Delivery Date:*
April 3rd, 2008

*Estimated New/Changed Translation Volume for 3.0 - 1st handoff*
GUI + Help: 20,000 words (compared to a full localized 2.4 OOo
version)

*Languages Uploaded to Pootle (sunvirtuallab):*

*Translation Schedule for Pootle Users:*
There will be 3 handovers:
1st Translation Handover: January 30th - YOU CAN START WORKING :-)
2nd Translation Handover: February 20th
3rd Translation Handover: March 13th

IMPORTANT: before each handover it is important that complete
translated files are uploaded to Pootle. It is NOT important that
you translate everything but please make sure you upload all you
have translated so far to Pootle (otherwise you may risk to lose
the translated content or to overwrite the content of the second
handoff with old translation).
After the Pootle content gets updated with the second handoff

Hi Alexandro,

By February 19th you need to make sure that all files translated so far
are uploaded to Pootle. You don't need to have all approx. 2 words
translated by that date. What you need to make sure is to have all files
downoladed AND translated so far uploaded to Pootle.

Actually to be more precise, I should have said:

*Translation Schedule for Pootle Users:*

January 30th - 1st Translation Handover: January 30th - YOU CAN START
WORKING :-)

February 19th - upload all complete translated files and stop translating
February 20th - Pootle update with new content
February 21st - you can start translating again
March 12th - upload all complete translated files and stop translating
March 13th - Pootle update with new content
March 14th - you can start translating again
April 3rd - Final translation delivery

Dear Rafaela,

I missed the deadline for the previous translation due to problems with my
computer. However, I will continue my translation work for the papiamento
translations for 3.0.
One question, can I use other translations other than Pootle?
What is the first translation handover for those using other translation
programs?

Best Regards
Peter

Dear Translators/Localizers,

we are ready to start working for the next major release :-) .

You have done an incredible great job for 2.x and I look forward to work
with all of you on the localization of OpenOffice.org 3.0.

Let me share with you some information regarding translation schedule
and estimated volume we will need to localize

*Release schedule for OpenOffice.org 3.0 release:*
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OOoRelease30
*
Final Translation Delivery Date:*
April 3rd, 2008

*Estimated New/Changed Translation Volume for 3.0 - 1st handoff*
GUI + Help: 20,000 words (compared to a full localized 2.4 OOo version)

*Languages Uploaded to Pootle (sunvirtuallab):*
http://www.sunvirtuallab.com:32300/projects/openoffice_org/

*Translation Schedule for Pootle Users:*
There will be 3 handovers:
1st Translation Handover: January 30th - YOU CAN START WORKING :-)
2nd Translation Handover: February 20th
3rd Translation Handover: March 13th

IMPORTANT: before each handover it is important that complete translated
files are uploaded to Pootle. It is NOT important that you translate
everything but please make sure you upload all you have translated so
far to Pootle (otherwise you may risk to lose the translated content or
to overwrite the content of the second handoff with old translation).
After the Pootle content gets updated with the second handoff you'll
need to go to Pootle and download the files you want to translate.

I will send out reminders when the second and third translation handover
dates are approaching.

Best Regards,
Rafaella
