Re: [Dev] Tizen SCM Services Release - 19.02

2019-02-25 Thread Philippe Coval
Thanks !
good to see that current Ubuntu LTS is supported:
http://download.tizen.org/services/latest-release/Ubuntu_18.04/

As a minor suggestion,
it would be nice to have gbs's gbp to not conflict with Debian's gbp...
I guess that package and paths should be renamed
or eventually upstreaming in later one could be a better option ?
Is there a bug tracker I could use to report this wish ?

Great !

do you know about current Ubuntu-18.04 LTS support ?
(Same applies to debian)

Also I am wondering if upstreaming to gpb has been considered too...

If so best is to report on our bugtracker at

Re: [Dev] Tizen security-manager package download for Ubuntu

2017-10-26 Thread Philippe Coval
Hi,

Then let me suggest that you should yocto build system, to build an image
If you can't run on device then let me suggest to build for qemu target
(that can run on your ubuntu machine)

The port of tizen or agl to debian based distro is not an easy task :-)

See you in AGL mailing list for more support

Hi,
If you didnt noticed a version of tizen unified have been released recently:
https://source.tizen.org/release/tizen-4.0-m1
But I didnt find gbs repo for that specific release, I expected it in:
http://download.tizen.org/releases/milestone/tizen/
All I've found are daily/weekly and snapshots but I am looking for an
address that will stay stable and reachable over time.

Re: [Dev] How to contribute code to tizen

2017-06-08 Thread Philippe Coval
yes I explained about using the contrib section :

   -

https://developer.tizen.org/documentation/articles/contributing-tizen-community
   - http://www.slideshare.net/rzrfreefr/tizen-maintain20150413rzr

I am unsure if this workflow is still same today (
https://build.tizen.org/project/show/Contrib:Common is gone)

Anyway I would suggest to file a bug in jira, to ask creation of new repo
somewhere on tizen.org

Keep us updated

2017-05-24 Thread Philippe Coval
Hi Pintu,

Is your package public ?

Because, I am able to build (iotivity) using:
gbs build -P tizen_common_armv7l -A armv7l

And this gbs.conf:
https://notabug.org/tizen/tizen-helper/raw/master/config/gbs.conf

More hints at:

cat /etc/os-release
PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS"

gbs --version
gbs 0.24.5

https://wiki.tizen.org/User:Pcoval#GBS_Configuration

Don't hesitate to report a bug, it will be searchable for others

I think it's possible, by importing files into project,
but you can also use gbs to build the library into RPM and then unpack RPM
into app project (tpk).

Thanks Greg,

I hadn't the pleasure to see it live, but It was recorded in video too:

I also spotted out this ocf / health / BLE video:

Let's add related CES material to this page too

Well, I had one idea to illustrate a "Smart city" use case.

I think it would make sense to correlate environmental data and
transportation,
there are many use cases possible once we have a working technology,

A simple demo example could be :
monitoring air pollution by tracking geolocalised pollution mesures (from
moving cars)
to any cloud backend (any to suggest? like https://hub.docker.com/u/opencf/
or ARTIK ? ).

To get you started, feel free to reuse this:
http://www.slideshare.net/SamsungOSG/tizen-connected-with-iotivity/8
let me share a sample code too:
https://github.com/tizenteam/iotivity-example/tree/sandbox/pcoval/geolocation

I have a tizen "map" client too based on "switch client" as explained at :
https://wiki.iotivity.org/tizen

Anyone would be interested to be part of a such "demo" project,
I'll do my best to help you

Please let me know, in #iotivity channels,

Now, there is no need to cross post to lists
unless it's about CES or FOSDEM.

Thanks Mooki for this notification about CES,
and good luck to Sanjeev !

For those who are in las vegas, OCF has a booth (40930) at CES, there is an
orange JRL car with a giant genivi sticker on it and demos about smarthome,
automotive etc
with W3C and Tizen gadgets too ...

I also read that there are other friends project there too LFAGL, OSVehicle
and probably many more that worth to be shared here too.

PS: Don't be confused with FOSDEM dinner post, it's not related,

Well I *just* proposed the idea,
I agree with leon, it wasnt easy to escape ULB last year
so we were a bit late at le petit belge,

If you want to use this place again, better shift the time to 20h30 or later

Note, they can host up to 70p. so maybe it can proposed to other embedded
developers communities.. but it can be discussed online,

Anyone who want to help organize this please let it know,
having someone from BXL would help too.

Keep tuned

[Dev] FOSDEM community event

2017-01-04 Thread Philippe Coval
Hi every one and Hacky New Year !

I am posting to Tizen, IoTivity and GENIVI, AGL (automotive) lists,
to announce FOSDEM (the biggest FLOSS event in europe).

Many developers will be there to present respective projects,

Track us at:
https://fosdem.org/2017/schedule/

I was also wondering, if side events are also planned ?
If not I can propose one:

Tizen community used to have a dinner those past years,
and many automotive/iot developers were there,
so I thought it would be fairer and more accurate to rename it
to something more general like "connected things" ?

As all feedbacks I got were positive,
I am suggesting to met again a the same place, same Saturday,
we can also join in a bar too.

Is it a good idea ?

You'll find details on previous editions at:
https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/FOSDEM#Community_Dinner

To talk further about it please respond, or join next online meeting
https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/Meeting
(2017-01-10 23h UTC)

Or we can define an other time that is better for EU.

Hi,
If it's not as system package, you need to embedded this in an application,

I've done this trick recently with openssh and terminology terminal,
https://github.com/voronaam/Terminal3/issues/3

If you want to try something (almost) ready for wearable, try to run
ekzekuto on your S2
https://github.com/rzr/ekzekuto/tree/wearable-2.3.1
unpack your RPM to lib, and adapt UI if needed (Pull request welcome)

In theory it should run, keep me updated.

Hi,

Poor committer, it has to be one and you're the unlucky one.

Anyway I second Carten remarks, a such change should be tracked at least
and eventually shared to upstream before merging it.

I am not in position to say what should be done, but just proposing a
workflow for smooth cooperation upstream and downstream side, and avoid
confusion like this 700k LOC "cleanup".

So let me share a document that explain how to cooperate with upstream
projects :

http://www.slideshare.net/rzrfreefr/tizen-upstreamcooptdc2014pcoval

But I think the issue is more related to our current governance model, some
strategies regarding tizen.org codebase are not visible to all, so It's not
easy to predict what is on roadmaps.

Maybe we should use more the bugtracker and refer to it in commit message,
that way discussion could happen before it is merged, and it will be
benefit for all.

yea I believe it's not active the same way tizen 3 is
anyway if there is a procedure for, I listed those packages
could be easily rebuilt :

utempter
dos2unix boost-jam boost scons

Hi,

The one I use for tizen_tv_armv7 (using base repo)
seems to work on snapshots

git clone review.tizen.org:/platform/upstream/SDL

[Dev] Any TM1 devoloper device owners in this list ?

2016-04-01 Thread Philippe Coval
Hi,

First, let me share this page about various tips regarding this developer
device for Tizen:2.4:Mobile .

https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/TM1

Today, I have a couple of question, about it

First are latest tizen-sdk & cert plugin, still supporting it ?
It fails to deploy applications caused by cert issues, while it works on
emulator or Z1,
and it used to work a couple of weeks back.

Second, I am considering to reflash it with original system image (Tizen
2.4.0b ?)
or any one that has good support (WiFi, GPU, pkg-cmd etc)...
but I'll be curious to know about user feedbacks to make sure
I will not face regressions compared to the "original TDC2015 version",
how which is the recommended version.

You can edit wiki page or reply in list, I read both.

If curious, I will explain at OpenIot How to deploy iotivity to TM1,
until you can check hints on this page :
https://blogs.s-osg.org/iotivity-ready-automotive/

in 2 weeks the raspberry4 will be out ;)

Let me insist l I suggest that we can do this together in "real time" then
the effort will be shared,
if not we'll loose lot of energy by searching the same issues...

What is concerning me is how to upgrade mesa in tizen to support VC1 ?
Would a dedicated OBS project help ? like using devel common ?

Same question applies to yocto, but let's keep this thread about gbs/obs as
you initiated it.

Hi,

May I ask for what purpose do you want to look at 2.4 and not 3.0 ?

Note that open gouvernance started with Tizen 3,
that could explain why this branch is not present there.

That said I shared some hints on this page :

https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/Category:Tizen-2.4

There is a lot of sources at :

http://download.tizen.org/releases/2.4/2.4-base/tizen-2.4-base_20151027.1/

http://download.tizen.org/releases/2.4/2.4-base/tizen-2.4-base_20151027.1/repos/standard/source/

So creating a manifest file should be possible, if it's not yet shared

that file should be a good starting point too

http://download.tizen.org/releases/2.4/2.4-mobile/tizen-2.4-mobile_20151030.1/repos/target-TM1/source/image-configurations-9-2.1.src.rpm

As far as I know only TM1 device is supported by tizen.org ,
As anyone managed to build Tizen:2.4 images for RDPQ or other hardware?

https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/ReferenceDevices

Also so if you're looking for other Tizen 2.4,
I would also suggest to look at archives at :
http://opensource.samsung.com/

Hope this help, sharing you research on wiki would also help community

Hi Casten,

Then I let you suggest when to make next meeting (around 2016-03-07 ?),
It would be good also to set a time that is suitable for Asians too.

IMHO, It does not matters if everyone is here or not,
important decisions will probably not be taken during those meetings...
The important thing is to make sure someone is able to welcome new visitors

Hi Leon,

AFAIK, It's not mandatory but it's pretty useful for maintainers who have
to maintain patches
upstream and downstream.

Note this convention is coming for Debian and I thought this convention
could be adopted here.

Also, I encourage you to push also your patches on crosswalk upstream first
and refer to it in your tizen-yocto changes...

That way It will save time for other co-maintainers and can help to make
tools that do your job :)

Ask me if anything is unclear about upstream/downstream changes tracking

If needed, I could write an other wiki page or just proposal based on my
TDC14SF presentation...

Thanks again

IMHO, It would make sense to maintain upcoming Qt LTS version 5.6

Because It has my changes in , then no need to maintain xdg-shell support
tizen side.:

maybe we could try that into the devel project of OBS 1st ?
And wait Tizen:Common to be released again in continuous integration mode ?

But upstream qtwayland uses weston 1.8.0 xdg-shell.xml.

Since you're investigated this maybe you can share branches in sandbox ...
and file a report to track this transition.
then I will be be granted to submit them ? is it a good plan ?
(but I would prefer to wait a Tizen:Common continuous releases to be back)

Does your package contain packaging/*.spec file ?

If yes we can assume it was built with OBS or GBS.

The question is where to find the matching repos ?
If they're not public online maybe you can look (or ask?)
for an archive and setup yours

But to want I understand Tizen.org platform documentation
is dedicated to development targets not actual Tizen products...

So If I were you I will try to get closer to existing (and supported gbs
repos)
and see how you can rebuild the shipped software on...
but I don't know your project related to your GS2.

Or consider those 2 ideas :

1/ just focus on application development on supported products
2/ join platform development efforts on ref devices (or OSHW )

Btw If you want to share your investigations use :

Hope those hints help.

Hi leon

I'll invite you to compare to other Distros that Hummingboard is supporting
and then report the problem there too.
Make sure to provide all the logs you can produce, you should see

Do you use GL backend ?
Try again using FrameBuffer ... then compare behaviour with working
setup and where you'll loosing access to buffers.

It would not surprise me that the problem near mesa or hardware

thing about an overlay frame like on X11 ...

Would it make sense to support also this package format ( for

If so could it be helpful to setup a community repository of built

I am not trying to replace existing packaging format into Tizen,

Supporting zypper on yocto will probably add confusion,

and there are certain features I would want to implement on Tizen.

I am curious :)

But talking about Z1 I am unsure it is open enough for platform developement

I requested the sources at

But havent yet checked what's inside this 1+GB archive :

Previous one only contained binaries in rpm form

Let us know about your developments on Z1,

[Dev] Invitation to Tizen Community Meeting at FOSDEM 2015

2015-01-22 Thread Philippe Coval

Hi,

FOSDEM is one of the most famous Free Software and OpenSource events
and it is about to happen in Belgium at the usual place
( 31 Jan 1 Feb at ULB Solbosch Campus, Brussels, Belgium).

Like previous edition you can expect to see some presentations
about Tizen project and other related projects.

Before listing all interesting topics,
let’s announce that we’ll try to set up a meeting on Saturday evening in
Brussels.

If you’re interested please tell us by using this form:

http://www.tizenexperts.com/2015/01/developer-tizen-community-meeting-fosdem-2015/

Please use this page as entry point, it will be updated in real time :

https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/Events

Don’t miss those Tizen specific tracks :

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/deviot03/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/open_hw_tizen/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/tizen_iot_security/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/embedded_multiuser/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/sec_enforcement/

Are there anything more to add to list ?

And or course core technologies used by Tizen project :

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/efl/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/reinventing_the_enlightenment_object_system/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/enlightenment_freebsd/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/intel_gf /

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/gerrit_hooks/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/whats_new_in_systemd,_2015_edition/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/spdx/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/gstreamer/

Those lectures may also help Tizen community projects :

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/kodi/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/allwinner_upstream/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/starting_yocto/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/kodi_mediacenter/

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/event/tamil/

But We’re sure there are many awesome interesting things
but you can’t be everywhere every time,
so you have to find the most appropriate combination among those 549 tracks.

https://fosdem.org/2015/schedule/events/

Any questions ?
ask here or there :)

If you want to be involved you're welcome
please contact me first

See you there

Re: [Dev] Considering gstreamer upgrade to 1.4 ? ( tizen multimedia )

2015-01-06 Thread Philippe Coval
Hi and HNY to Multimedia domain members !

As announced months ago in
Considering gstreamer upgrade to 1.4 ? ( tizen multimedia )

https://lists.tizen.org/pipermail/dev/2014-November/005172.html

It was decided to upgrade gstreamer to yocto's version
(currently 1.4.1) :

https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TC-2108

The changes are pending in gerrit for a while
despite they have positive reviews (and none negative),
they werent merged yet :

https://review.tizen.org/gerrit/#/q/project:platform/upstream/gstreamer
https://review.tizen.org/gerrit/#/q/project:platform/upstream/gst-plugins-base
https://review.tizen.org/gerrit/#/q/project:platform/upstream/gst-plugins-bad
https://review.tizen.org/gerrit/#/q/project:platform/upstream/gst-plugins-good
https://review.tizen.org/gerrit/#/q/project:platform/upstream/gst-plugins-ugly
https://review.tizen.org/gerrit/#/q/project:platform/upstream/gst-libav

Until someone say me not to do this (and why),
I plan to merge them and submit them to tizen_common first very soon
and let other profiles to pick them too once RE find the right timing
(or maintain previous version of gst in profile, I may push a previous
branch too).

By the way gstreamer's expert Gwenole Beauchesne
suggested to upgrade to at least GStreamer 1.4.4
(most probably latest 1.4.5 or later at that time)
to supports upcoming libva,
this will be tracked on jira
to make sure it's OK for everyone,
I assume it will be OK since it's on the same 1.4.x API,
but I wanted to tell you in the open about Domain Multimedia related changes.

Kind Regards

I haven't tried lately but I seem to recall that 'standard' contributors

 correct?

Yes, this is correct until developer projects are moved to another namespace.
As soon as it happens developer can use another tag namespace and it should
be allowed to push tags there.

My proposal so far was to start with what we have, look at how it works and
then enhance if needed. Does it make sense for you?

yea let's procced by itterations and let open it to maintainers 1st

I see 2 potentials problems already

1/ we should get confirmation if the expected load will match the
infratructure ?

2/ It would be nice to have a cron job that fetch and upload git tags
from upstream
to avoid use to force/workaround theirs (from sandbox/) in their .gbs.conf
(but we can work that way for now)

If it's ok for Infra team ? kad ? I would suggest to open a bug on
jira to let it more visible to community

Thanks

You need to belong to one Domain then ,
do you want to take care of Graphics ?
I can lead you and help to document the workflow

My question was not triggered by a desire to get increased privileges
(although I always try to help if/where I can) but I was more looking at the
whole discussion from the point of view of an external 'unprivileged'
contributors and my conclusion was that the workflow described does not apply
to them. My understanding at the moment is that the only way an external
contributor can verify a patch is by doing a local 'gbs build' on his dev
environment. While it's fine in principle, there is an increased overhead as
more architectures are added (and this is where OBS could be helpful, in that
you throw it at OBS and it will very quickly tell you which target arch it
 fails to build for).

Ok thanks for clarification, let me add some extra idea I had In mind

Since developer is allowed to submit sandboxes
they should be able push sandboxed tags ie:

sandbox/$USER/$branch/$profile

branch is developper's choice (ie: devel)
profile is the obs project to build (ie: tizen_common)

(note we could also set arch name in the branch name)

then the tag will be in

submit/sandbox/$USER/$branch/$profile/MMDD.HHMMDD

no need to use 99 prefixes since we know this is is a sandbox source

It's assumed that RE will not be able to merge sandboxed submissions

Also an obs's hook can delete the tag once project removed to keep the git clean

if noone see objection I will move this to ed's wikipage

Later and thank you for those efforts to get a more comfortable toolset

Keeping these in sync is causing additional friction in the project
 already, see https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TC-1499

If I got to choose, I would remove this special Group semantic. As Mikko
pointed out to me, it could be used to find the right place to submit a
bug in JIRA. But as we don't seem to manage to keep the .spec files
up-to-date, the field is unreliable and thus basically useless.

then do we agrea that one central place should be taken into account
ie git-tree file and eventually we can make a bot that change spec
files accordingly
maybe this is not the top priority ...
but anything that can make the maintainer activity easier (and faster
is welcome)

I would suggest to use submit/profile/MMDD.hhmmss
where ss = 90 (or 60?)

because developer could need to submit it again
(since a package can be submitted once w/ a given tag,
else it will cause some issues)

I have also tried to clone the git repo from Tizen Gerrit

 Use Tizen:Common gcc49

 as an example.
I cloned the git repo from git://review.tizen.org/platform/upstream/gcc49,

I can find SPEC files, rpmlintrc files are under packaging/,
but I can't find the patch files (shown in Tizen OBS

hint: install gbs and type gbs export . you'll see the patchset since

Good luck with setting up private obs this a great tool and it
combines pretty well w/ gbs workflow..

Hi

Title says all

As stated at :
https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TC-1873

We faced lot of infra issues, inconsistency caused by gcc+nasm+syslinux
upgrade ?
This produced weird behaviours in prerelease projects so beware
if you observe different behaviour between obs and gbs,

Now everything is in snapshot repo and soon in daily one

Btw I can share an (obsolete) working VMWare image,
for experimenting or showing Tizen:Common ...

What kernel are you using with this rootfs ? and what device ?
default one is vexpress but only for QEmu then you need some adapation
to other boards like renesas one :

But make sure your kernel has SMACK support to support full Tizen security model

there are some WIP image to be released soon at :
