Re: [VOTE] Release of Apache Mnemonic-0.10.0-incubating [rc1]

2017-11-07 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
Hi Henry,

Thank you very much for the clarification, It's my bad to misunderstand the
meanings of regression and feature.

We have not yet tried to compile the project with Java9 before, the issue
found by Patrick make me realize that the JDK9 has been GA released.

So we are fine with this release candidate, right? Thanks!

Hi Patrick,

I'm really sorry for the confusion.

Best.
Gary

Looks it is caused by the new JDK, we need to investigate this issue
further to make it compatible with older JDK version if we fix it for new
JDK. let me create a JIRA ticket for this issue, and could be a blocker for
this release candidate? Thanks!.

[DISCUSS] Storage-class memory ecosystem program

2017-10-19 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
Hi all,

We can expect more and more projects will take the huge potential
advantages of storage-class memory for data processing and analytics
because silicon companies are able to produce high capacity non-volatile
memory on a large scale, this hardware technology will fundamentally change
the way to construct high performance applications similar to what happened
when replacing tape with disk technology since the 1980s. so if possible, I
advocate establishing an Apache working group to enhance the collaboration
and synergies mentioned by Patrick Stuedi for storage-class memory
technology-oriented projects.

Best.
Gary.

I'm a PPMC at Mnemonic project, we got interested in this project because
our project is working on Ceph memory service for our Durable object model
(DOM) and Durable computing model (DCM). Crail could be a promising and
more efficient solution for us to take fully advantage of the RDMA
capabilities for durable object exchange across nodes in a cluster. I'm
looking forward to integrating Crail soon...

We have prepared the Get Started page for our project, please visit the
following link to check it out

http://mnemonic.incubator.apache.org/docs/getstarted.html

In this page, we will add more code snippets to guide the user to learn how
to make use of Mnemonic.

To contribute your guide code snippets, you can submit yours with tooltips
markup e.g.

In Java,

m_act = new NonVolatileMemAllocator(
*/*tooltip,a memory service instance*/*
Utils.getNonVolatileMemoryAllocatorService("pmalloc")*/*tooltip*/*,
*/*tooltip,the capacity*/*1024 * 1024 * 1024L*/*tooltip*/*,
*/*tooltip,an uri associated with memory service*/"*

Learn from Equifax breach

2017-09-13 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
One of our contributors told me that this breach is related to a
serialized object that Mnemonic has tried to avoid as below

"However, “for either vulnerability, the process is basically the same. The
attacker sends a specific HTTP request containing some special syntax. In
one case, an OGNL expression. In the other, a serialized object,” he said
in comments emailed to SC Media. “The Equifax Struts application would
receive this request, and get tricked into executing operating system
commands.”

The attacker can then “use these to take over the entire box – do anything
the application can do,” Williams said. “So, they probably stole the
database credentials out of the application, ran some queries, and then
exfiltrated the data to some server they control on the internet.”"

https://www.scmagazine.com/apache-struts-vulnerability-likely-behind-equifax-breach-congress-launches-probes/article/687955/

IMHO, from the technical view point, Mnemonic has nothing about how to
interact with UI layer. Theoretically, Mnemonic's linked durable objects
could be transferred between different layers to avoid SerDe, user code
makes use of those durable object for their own business logics.

Regarding the Durable Query Model (DQM), it has not yet been fully
implemented, we need to consider any possible injection and provide the
proper measure to prevent potential breaches.

Thanks!

[DISCUSS] Avoiding Merge Commits in Git

2017-09-12 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
As of now, we are using the Github PRs to merge changes, we try to keep the
Git history clean and avoid merge commit to pollute our code history while
upstreaming new commits to Apache repo. the blog states why and how to
avoid merge commits very clearly.

http://www.kerrybuckley.org/2008/06/18/avoiding-merge-commits-in-git/

The problem is if we received multiple pending PRs, we have to notify
all owners of remaining PRs to rebase their commits every time when a PR
commit got upstreamed.

Any idea about how to avoid merge commits while not bother PR owners to
rebase their changes once their PR get submitted?

Thanks!

Great!, Thank you very much for the support, could you please also help to
list some work items in order so we can create JIRA ticket accordingly to
make it done.

be resolved.

1) add detailed description to sample code snippets shown in web page

2) simplify the sample codes shown in front page

3) use descriptive names for sample codes

please add more to this list, thanks!

Re: [VOTE] Graduate Mnemonic to TLP

2017-09-07 Thread Gary Wong
I vote +1 for graduation.

The community has grown and continues to make progress, many features have
been contributed to Mnemonic, we have already released 8 versions of
Mnemonic according to Apache guidelines since becoming Apache podling.

Subject: Re: Apache Arrow at JupyterCon
To: d...@arrow.apache.org

This is a interesting problem but also pretty complex. Arrow's Java memory
management model is complex on purpose (see
https://github.com/apache/arrow/blob/master/java/memory/
src/main/java/org/apache/arrow/memory/README.md
for more info). It is designed to reserve and share memory in multiple
hierarchical domains (with reservations and limits) while providing
transfer semantics across those domains with minimal contention and
locking. An opaque (and potentially easy starting point would be to
optionally allow AllocationManager to use something other than the
PooledByteBufAllocatorL and UnsafeDirectLittleEndian for memory allocation.
This wouldn't expose movement between different memory tiers but that could
be managed underneath the Arrow system. At the end of the day, the whole
hierarchy is basically a collection of memory addresses, accounting and
reference counting.

A phase two could be a proposal which allows movement between memory
domains and could be generified across systems like Mnemonic as well
GPU/Device memory domains.

Hi Patrick and Mentors

Thank you for the input and guidance.

I have visited the following page that you mentioned, it looks there are
some broken links.
https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#graduation_check_list

I paste two key sections here as a checklist for verification

   -

   Preparations
   -

Complete (and sign off) tasks documented in the status file
  <https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#notes-status>
  Yes, it is up-to-date
  -

  Ensure suitable names
  <https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#notes-names> for
  project name and product names
  Approved, https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PODLINGNAMESEARCH-95
  -

Demonstrate ability to create Apache releases
  <https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#releases>
Release 8 versions and another one is WIP, involved 3 release managers
  -

  Demonstrate community readiness
  <https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#community>
Our contributors come from different companies and show the diversity
and working on different components, all changes have been reviewed and
trackable. we have an open, positive and inclusive atmosphere for the
  discussion
  -

  Ensure Mentors

<https://incubator.apache.org/incubation/Roles_and_Responsibilities.html#Mentor>
  and IPMC

<https://incubator.apache.org/incubation/Roles_and_Responsibilities.html#Incubator+Project+Management+Committee+%28PMC%29>

  <https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#notes-issues>
We have taken actions on issues from the discussion of graduation and
  fulfilled the Apache maturity assessment

https://docs.google.com/document/d/10LKTjPMceV4s4MrSRIA9L8pg7jLFp-ec-TmW96mZbXM/edit?usp=sharing
  -

   Decide upon destination
   <https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#subproject-or-top-level>
   Would be Top-Level Project
   -

   Prepare a resolution
   <https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#tlp-resolution> *(top
   level candidates only)*.
We will prepare our resolution according to

   https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/MADLIB/Graduation+Resolution
The resolution should be proposed on the general incubator list
before a *VOTE
   <http://www.apache.org/foundation/voting.html>* is started to allow
   feedback
   -

   Subproject acceptance *VOTE*
   <https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#subproject-acceptance>
by destination Project *(*subproject* candidates only)*
   NA
   -

   Incubator PMC (IPMC)

<https://incubator.apache.org/incubation/Roles_and_Responsibilities.html#Incubator+Project+Management+Committee+%28PMC%29>
   :
   -

For top level candidates, this is a recommendation *VOTE*

<https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#ipmc-top-level-recommendation>

   -

   Consider post graduation tasks

Graduation to a top level project requires:

   -

   a charter for your project
   https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#preparing_a_charter
   -

   a positive community graduation VOTE
   <http://www.apache.org/foundation/voting.html>

   https://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#community_graduation_vote
   -

   a positive IPMC recommendation VOTE
   <http://www.apache.org/foundation/voting.html>
I have not found a template for this vote, but we can refer to other
   project's vote.

so our next step would be to prepare a resolution, please help to verify it

Let me summarize the discussion on graduation, Please refer to this email
thread for details.

1) We have completed the website of Mnemonic that is required before
graduation
http://mnemonic.incubator.apache.org/

2) We have filled the Apache project maturity assessment for Mnemonic and
fixed all gaps that would be helpful for graduation
https://docs.google.com/document/d/10LKTjPMceV4s4MrSRIA9L8pg7jLFp-ec-TmW96mZbXM/edit?usp=sharing

3) Many contributed have voted +1s for this graduation

Please add yours if any before we are starting graduation votes, Thanks!

Cheers
Gary

2017-09-06 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
Hi John, Mentors and PPMCs

Looks no new issues crop up for a few days, and many contributors are
positive and voted +1s for graduation, no negative from our community, so I
think this discussion could be settled down today and proceed to collect
votes from our community and IPMCs for graduation, please guide us if any
missing, misunderstanding and suggestion, Thanks!

Very truly yours

Hi John, Mentors and PPMCs

Looks we have resolved all the issues that you have pointed out for
graduation, meanwhile, there are more contributors +1 for our project's
graduation so, could we start the community graduation vote and IPMC
graduation vote according to the following chart extracted from
http://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#community ? Thanks!

Re: [DISCUSS] Graduation?

2017-08-28 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
Yes, I also totally agree this and we will try our best for the readiness
for the graduation.

For the suggestion that John advised, we have prepared the following
comments for your review, Thanks!

*CD20 - You have a link in your header called GITHUB that brought me to
your source code. Other projects use hacking guides. Unless you're on
gitbox, the git primary repo should be the ASF hosted repos.*

The github link has been removed from CD20 and using
http://mnemonic.incubator.apache.org/develop/ as the link of website. we
also create ticket MNEMONIC-355 (resolved) to remove Github link from
navigator menu on website.

*CD30 - The usage of docker is in of itself a violation of this item, from
my point of view. In your case, you're pointing to "centos:latest" which
today is C7.2, but in a few months will be C7.3.*

Yes, we will fix it through Apache Jira MNEMONIC-353(reviewed) and
MNEMONIC-356(WIP)

*CD50 - I can't tell if the pull requests to your repo are from committers
or from contributors. If I take
https://github.com/apache/incubator-mnemonic/pull/60
<https://github.com/apache/incubator-mnemonic/pull/60> as an example, the
commit message says nothing about provenance of the source code.*

We have requested to revoke all stalled PRs, and all commit messages must
contain Apache JIRA number and title.

*LC50 - You mention in your response why this is incorrect (the use of
*most*)*

Yes we will correct it with "The files in the project source repository
have appropriate headers", The files under target/ that generated by mvn
building process would be excluded and all other project files have been
properly licensed and guarded by RAT plugin.

*RE10 - You link to http://mnemonic.incubator.apache.org/news/
<http://mnemonic.incubator.apache.org/news/> but that doesn't include any
download links. http://mnemonic.incubator.apache.org/downloads/
<http://mnemonic.incubator.apache.org/downloads/> does include download
links to the proper release mirrors.*

That has been corrected by replacing it with the link
http://mnemonic.incubator.apache.org/downloads/

*RE20 - You mention non-PMC members in the vote (PPMC).*

Yes, we started with the community vote for releasing and the result
explicitly shows binding and non-binding votes.

*RE30 - Again, not using mirror.*

Looks no mirror link in this field.

*RE40 - Correct answer would be "NO. We do not distribute binary releases."*

Yes it is and corrected

*RE50 - Your release process neglects deleting old artifacts.*

Sorry I forgot it and corrected it by the Apache Jira ticket MNEMONIC-357
(resolved) as well as MNEMONIC-358 (resolved)

*QU10 - Code quality is more than bug reports. You may want to use
linters, sonar, etc.*

Yes, we will investigate this plugin and apply them to project later, as
for now, the QU10 has been replaced with "YES. The project records all bugs
in the Apache’s JIRA issue tracker. Developer also uses Eclipse or Intellij
IDEA to improve their code quality."

*QU20 - This is only achievable if you've had a security vulnerability
reported. If you haven't had one reported, there's no way to confirm this.*

The QU20 has been replaced with "YES. Security issues would be treated with
the highest priority, computing service and memory service are separated
from other modules and defined by interfaces, so security concerns could be
largely mitigated by introduced this design at first place.", that this
emphasize we consider the security aspect from design viewpoint as well.

*QU50 - I see that MNEMONIC-203/217 have been open for around 6 months.*

We have asked owners to properly handle those tickets

*CO10 - Github shows two pull requests open without any commentary or
questions from the project's committers. Why is that?*

They are stalled PRs, we have asked the owner to properly revoke them.

*The full checklist as follows for you to add comments*
https://docs.google.com/document/d/10LKTjPMceV4s4MrSRIA9L8pg7jLFp-ec-TmW96mZbXM/edit?usp=sharing

[DISCUSS] Continuous Integration

2017-08-24 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
Hi, our project has right now supported the Travis and CircleCI, but both
of them cannot run all of the test cases on their platforms because our
test cases consume too much storage space and time that is limited by the
free plan, I also tried the codefresh they also limit 30 mins for testing.
please let me know if you can recommend more powerful and open-source
friendly service for Mnemonic CI.

Thanks!
Gary.

Hi John,

You can download all versions of the package from Apache distribution site
that is linked from the following web page
https://github.com/apache/incubator-mnemonic/releases

Also, we can download them from Apache Mirrored Github page
https://github.com/apache/incubator-mnemonic/releases

We could add another menu item on top of home page dedicated for
downloading the latest one.

Thanks!

Fwd: [DISCUSS][UPDATE] Durable Query Model Proposal

2017-08-07 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
Hi Devs.

The following ticket has been resolved, it defined the interface for
durable memory service based query engine, the user could use this low
level engine to query their durable objects in very efficient way, i.e.
using native code to filter out business durable objects from large
capacity of durable memory service. it also is flexible for the underlying
implementation of query engine since it does not assume how the query
engine works. so for example, memory service provider could simply make use
of SQLite as query engine or use customized one to avoid copying from
durable objects.

https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MNEMONIC-326

Best Regards.
Gary.

Hi Devs.

Mnemonic has been evolved to be able to support more sophistical features,
so I propose to design and implement another new model for Mnemonic that is
Durable Query Model (DQM).

DQM would build on top of durable collection and memory services. DQM is
also able to take fully advantages of Durable Object Model (DOM) and
Durable Computing Model (DCM) for high performance querying and updating on
Massive Linked Business Object Sets (MLBOS).

DQM should allows to distribute and sharing all or part of MLBOS across
nodes even data centers without heavily depending on frameworks to burden
developers.

The following diagram shows the concept architecture of this new model

The applications could use 3 querying forms with hints to query their
MLBOS. the model should provide enough flexibility to accommodate best
Query Engines working on durable collections and durable memory services.

The Collection Query Engine is inspired by CQEngine
https://github.com/npgall/cqengine
Thanks Niall Gallagher for join us and help me to learn his project

There are lot we can create for DQM around durable models with various
platforms/technologies e.g. cloud, container, hpc.

The DQM would be next big feature for Mnemonic, Please review arch. any
idea, suggestion and feedback are warmly welcome, Thanks!

Very truly yours.
Gary

Update the dates of work items in project status page

2017-06-05 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
Hi Mentors and PPMCs

As Patrick advised, we have added the missing dates for work items in
project status page,
http://incubator.apache.org/projects/mnemonic.html

Please review those updates that marked as blue font under "incubation work
items" category.

The blue font mark would be removed next week after correction if any.
Thanks!

Very truly yours
Gary

[DISCUSSION] Durable Streaming Model

2017-05-25 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
Hi folks,

After the study of current streaming frameworks e.g. Spark, Storm,
Gearpump, I think it might be feasible to take the advantage of Mnemonic
durable models to construct a lightwight streaming modules as a durable
near real-time massive object graph based analytics library.

[DISCUSSION] Mnemonic Python Binding

2017-05-24 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
Hi Folks.

As the Python is one of hottest programming language nowadays, so why not
to have a Python binding for Mnemonic ?

The basic idea is to make Java durable objects available to Python code.
thus Python developer is able to take benefits from durable object model,
even durable computing model.

On top of Mnemonic python binding, we could further construct
Numpy/Pandas/Scipy-like data structures and functionality for vectoring
algorithms with durable features in-place.

Very truly yours.

Apache Mnemonic Releasing

2017-05-23 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
Hi Debo

Thanks you Debo for becoming our new releasing manager, I'm trying to
detail the steps below from my previous releases, hope it can help.

Hi PPMCs

Please correct me if any missing or incorrect items below and welcome to
optimize & improve the following steps, Thanks!

1) Prepare a Linux box (one time setup)
The commands are running on Linux OS, so please have a Linux box or a
Virtual Machine for releasing

2) Prepare your release key if not yet or expired (one time setup)
https://www.apache.org/dev/openpgp.html#generate-key
Please also put your key fingerprint into your account,
https://id.apache.org

3) Start a GPG agent on your Linux box using the following command (before
releasing)
$eval 'gpg-agent --daemon --use-standard-socket'

4) Install SVN client on your laptop to upload staged/released artifacts

5) Using SVN client to check out the staged trunk (One time and Update
before voting)
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/incubator/mnemonic
This trunk is used to upload the release candidates before voting on
dev@list

6) Using SVN client to check out the release trunk (One time and Update
after voting)
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/incubator/mnemonic
This trunk is used to upload the releases after voting on general@list

7) Using SVN client to checkout the project status file (One time and
Update after releasing)
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/public/trunk/content/projects/mnemonic.xml

8) Replace the KEYS file contents with yours in both trunk of stage and
release and then commit the changes using SVN client

9) run the following command for auto release packaging on project directory
$./build-tools/release.sh

for example
$./build-tools/release.sh 0.8.0 0.8.0 rc1
Note that usually we use the same current version in above command as we
cannot predict whether or not have a new candidate for this release before
voting
In this step, you may have to input your GPG password to allow gpg to sign
off artifacts using your private key

10) Prepare the new release candidate folder on stage trunk
please duplicate a folder from latest release candidate on stage trunk and
rename it as current release candidate.
for example: 0.8.0-incubating-rc1
and then empty the src folder

11) Update the CHANGES.txt for current release candidate on stage trunk
a) open the JIRA for Mnemonic project
b) in the overview, click the "Versions"
c) click the latest version that needs to be release, for example
"0.8.0-incubating"
d) click the button "Release Notes" on top-right
e) copy the Text between "Configure Release Notes" and "Edit/Copy Release
Notes"
f) open CHANGES.txt and replace all contents with the one just copied

12) Upload packaged artifacts from Linux box
Please use tools e.g. SCP to download all artifacts suffixed with *.tar.gz
under target/ folder into the src folder of staged trunk

13) Commit the whole new release candidate folder in the staged trunk
using the SVN client to commit it all

14) Prepare a voting mail for dev@list voting
Please refer to the latest vote mail in dev@list

15) Report the voting results on dev@list
if not pass, please prepare next release candidate after issues fixed

16) Prepare a voting mail for general@list voting
Please refer to the latest vote mail in general@list

17) Report the voting results on general@list
if not pass, please prepare next release candidate after issues fixed

18) Submit the voted release candidate to release trunk
a) Please copy the release candidate from staged trunk to release trunk
b) and then remove the rc[x] suffix of the folder, for example,
0.8.0-incubating-rc1 to 0.8.0-incubating
c) commit your new folder into SVN repos using SVN client

19) Update the project status file for the new releasing
Insert a new xml element to mnemonic.xml for new release
for example: "2017-xx-xx the eighth official release."
and then commit it using SVN client

Please also improve it or correct it if any issue, Thanks!

Very truly yours
+Gary

Yes, in some sense, the runtime layout is in favor of arranging a set of
same type data on a continuous memory space because this way could bring
many benefits from the cache line, SIMD, transferring, space saving.

As you mentioned, the better solution could be of embedding the columnar
layout mechanism to the infrastructure of durable object model with added
annotations, it could take most of benefits from columnar data as well as
providing the same view as object graphs.

The concerns are about the operation cost of columnar data deleting,
continuous memory space extension to accommodate more items and sync. if
index changed. but I believe that could be possible to resolve them all
very well, Thanks!

+1 from me.

Very truly yours.

[NEXTFEATURES] Apache Mnemonic (incubating)

2017-05-11 Thread Gang(Gary) Wang
Hi Folks

I believe that the Mnemonic are not only used to make objects just durable
with in-place computing to improve the performance but also to propose a
larger ecosystem for a set of brand new concept and model about how to
manage customer's business data in full life-cycle on top of existing
big-data ecosystem.

My $0.02, the next concept/model would be based on DOM &DCM and towards the
binding with distribution, high reliability, messaging, cloud service and
etc.

Very welcome you can join to propose your ideas, Thanks!

Very truly yours.
+Gary.

Yes I agree with you, a quick start guide with some example code snippets
would be very helpful for user/developer to get into it, the website of
mnemonic also need re-organized to accommodate it.

For the benchmark, I'm looking forward to carrying out with you
collaboratively for publishing some more unbiased performance results.

Regarding more features, we could create a new thread to discuss about it,
there might be more potential values to our audience. Thanks!

Very truly yours.

Hi John

Thank you for starting this discussion.

Yes, our community is growing and continue to attract more people to join
our community. Some industry users are aware of mnemonic and already get
interested as i known.

Mnemonic is able to deliver unique values to their business so I think that
it is very important for us to get mnemonic graduated in time if qualified.

My 2 cents, looks nothing left for us to graduate Mnemonic, I'm also
looking forward to propose our project as Apache TLP.

Thanks!

Re: [DISCUSS] new features

2017-03-08 Thread Gary
Yes, I agree, but the performance improvement could be one of the values
Mnemonic could deliver, as you mentioned the durable object model (DOM) could
establishes a new infrastructure for large set of object graph (e.g. IoT data,
business models, machine learning/deep learning parameters).

Regarding the durable structures, it would be great useful for user to take
fully advantages of Mnemonic for their business and research. as Johnu also
mentioned, Mnemonic might provide the data process/analytics capabilities
without need developer to be aware of the computing engines and distribute
system existing like Hadoop/Spark does.

For the performance, by using the existed frameworks to integrated with
Mnemonic might not fully exhibit Mnemonic's capabilities, but It could still
show some extent of benefits if using Mnemonic in some places (e.g. cache,
input/output, checkpoint, internal data persist)

In addition, I'd like to add one item to the list you provided. that is the
durable native computing, because it breaks the barriers to access object
graphs in the same viewpoint from native code and managed code avoid
introducing marshal/un-marshal operations.

Very truly yours.
+Gary.

Re: [DISCUSS] Feature Roadmap, regular meetings etc

2017-03-07 Thread Gary
Hi Debo,

We have not yet a JIRA item about the road map for coming release.

For the IRC, I really love the IRC but I found the Slack could be a attractive
alternative for us to discuss anything about Mnemonic project with the
following add-on features.

* The ability to directly send files and images to channels is an objective
benefit Slack has over IRC, which has even less ability to do that than MIME
email (at least MIME lets you post the base64'd file contents of your image,
rather than just a clickable link).

* The ability to send long messages or whole source files is an objective
benefit Slack has over IRC.

* The ability to, by default and without running a secondary service that can
crash or lose connectivity, log and search channels is an objective Benefit
Slack has over IRC, which can support that feature only by using bots, and only
by tunneling results through privmsgs or forcing users to leave the IRC
protocol itself and visit ancillary web sites.

* The ability to edit and delete messages is an objective benefit Slack has
over IRC.

[https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10486541] Author: tptacek

The downsides are :
* Slack belongs to a company
* Slack is not totally free, the free plan has

  * Searchable message archives, up to 10k of your team’s most recent messages
  * 10 apps or service integrations
  * Native apps for iOS, Android, Mac & Windows Desktop
  * Two-person voice and video calls
  * 5GB total file storage for the team
  * Two-factor authentication

so if those downsides are not acceptable or favorable, there is a alternative
choice that is Rocket.chat.
https://rocket.chat
It is totally free and an open source Slack alternative with additional features

  * Audio and Video Conference
  * Built-in Live-chat for Websites
  * Federation
  * Screen-Sharing
  * Self-Registration
  * Theming and Branding

  * No limitation for searching, file storage and so on if self-host it.

Regarding the summary of meetings, My 2 cents, we could post it on dev@list
instead. because I think JIRA looks more friendly to discuss something specific
to the ticket.

Thanks.
Very truly yours.
