Bug 123242: remove sun.com references in the linux build
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123242

--- Additional Comments from h...@apache.org
The www.sun.com URL is still used for the NSIS template and it is also in
windows/sign.pm. These references should be updated to their AOO counterparts.

I think we could do much better on the way code is displayed. Here is a JS
library that highlight the code and makes it look more appealing to
developers:
http://code.google.com/p/syntaxhighlighter/
also we can use solarized themes:

Only yes on Macs. I'm talking (as is the OP) about the name in the applications folder after
installation

On Macs (which I and the OP use) Apache OpenOffice 3.4 installs as
OpenOffice.org.app
Apache OpenOffice 4.0 installs as OpenOffice.app

I don't know about other platforms.

help needed with links on http://www.openoffice.org/api/modules.html

2013-09-11 Thread Kay Schenk
I will be happy to fix the links in the table on:

http://www.openoffice.org/api/modules.html

if someone would tell me if these used to refer to actual links to source
code areas in /trunk/main.

Most of the modules linked in this table are still alive via our current
source browsing:

http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/openoffice/trunk/main/

so the links can be changed. But some no longer exist as individual
modules. If some modules are now defunct, I will delete them from the
table.

Thanks.

Yes. We renamed to Apache OpenOffice a couple of years ago. So

The menu language is under the control of what directory the user is in and if

OK, you mean when you get TO the wiki Documenation page. I tried this just
now also -- to ES. As you say, It does change the contents of the wiki page
but not the left menu -- you are correct. I am not a Media Wiki guru, but I
would image that side menu template needs some function applied to it on a
language change to make this happen.

Maybe a fun project for a volunteer to investigate.

Hi Phillip,

Some general advice for students working on a project like this:

http://openoffice.apache.org/students.html

We can help you more if you can tell us more about your assignment.
For example, do you need to demonstrate a specific quality assurance
technique? Or just contribute in some what related to entering
defect reports?

There is a good intro to how we do QA :
http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/intro-qa.html

We're currently finishing up a minor release, Apache OpenOffice 4.0.1,
which should be done in the next couple of weeks. There will be an
opportunity to do some testing there.

Menu language problem with Wiki

2013-09-11 Thread sebb
Just clicked on "OpenOffice Wiki: Documentation area" link under
http://www.openoffice.org/support/#community-support.

The page that is displayed has English body text, but Dutch (I think)
for the menu bar.

Clicking other languages (under "Ander tale") changes the body text,
but not the menu.

However, when I try the same in Opera and Chrome, the menu stays in English.

Very odd.

Sorry, my fault - I'd forgotten I'd been playing with the languages
setting in Firefox.
It was actually Afrikaans.

However, given that the menu is available in languages other than
English, why does it not change when the user selects a different
language?

Besides solving this concrete issue, I think, it might be worth to
re-think about using format code strings at all. The file format itself
knows no format codes, but they are resolved to styles and conditional
styles in ODF. Using such styles and conditional styles directly in core
and UI would give more flexibility than the current format codes and
eliminate conversion errors.

this sounds interesting but I believe such a change is better made in

isn't it.

That was only a thought. But I had not considered, that number format
codes are used as parameter in function TEXT and therefore cannot be
dropped totally. So forget this idea.

Re: Fw: Reporting a problem with the OpenOffice website

2013-09-11 Thread Alexandro Colorado
This is also used on a browser, when you install a new one. Since not many
people have much knowledge into how to select the default editor for the
filetype on the operating system. The easiest way is for the application to
ask if you want to do it for you. That way the user can choose. Is odd that
option only happens on Windows (dont know OSX), but Linux I have to
manually configure this for the desktop environment, and then the browser,
so it was a pain to do it.

One such case is current

We can dig out other examples if required.

For such reports (and fixes) one is at the mercy of the skill level of the

problem to the list to see if it has affected any list members.

I tried on a 64-bit Windows 8 machine.

I created a new spreadsheet in MS Office 2013, with full color charts,
cell background colors, shaded borders, etc.

I saved as XLS format and loaded in AOO 4.0 Calc

The colors showed correctly.

I printed to an HP LaserJet 400 Color network printer. The output was
correct. All the colors printed.

It might help to get his specific document. (Or a similar document
that consistently fails for him). I can then test with that document.

I cannot myself test because I only have (legacy) 32 bit Windows.

Ah, so this shows that the digits member is a const int as it should be.
Why low_bit_mask_t<> doesn't like the specialization with int is
strange, because in my boost/integer/integer_mask.hpp only allows
integer specializations (for std::size_t)!

Darn, these are a lot of file. If the compiler picks one that
is not consistent with the related include files then all kinds of
troubles are not surprising.

To find out which file is included you could use the gcc option
"-E", that tells the compiler to just preprocess a source file and
output the preprocessed result to the output file specified by "-o".

As an example change into the configmgr directory and
   build verbose=true
there. You'll see the exact command line for the compiler building e.g.
partial.cxx. Change the "-c" option ("compile") to "-E" ("preprocess
only") and run this one command line. The resulting partial.o is the
preprocessed source that will show you which was included.

Lastly,
The following patch seems to address the erf() issue. I edited
/opt/aoo-4.0./main/solver/400/unxsoli4.pro/inc/vigra/config.hxx with the
following and it seems to compile without error. However, isn't
/opt/aoo-4.0.0/main/solver/400/unxsoli4.pro/inc/vigra/config.hxx generated by
the build. Should this be modified somewhere else?

When external libraries are built the process is as follows:
1. the tarball of the library is unpacked
2. some patches are applied (for vigra its the file "vigra-1.6.0.patch")
3. the library is built
4. the library is delivered to "solver"

Though modifying the header in solver can temporarily solve a compile
problem in a dependent module (e.g. basebmp) it is better to do the
needed modification before the library is built to get a consistent
state. To get the patch in as early as possible the patch file has to be
modified. As mentioned yesterday I already attached a patch against
"vigra-1.6.0.patch" to issue 123228.

By the way, did the modified vigra config.hxx allow basebmp to be built?

2013-09-11 Thread sebb
I think Max meant to write "[Microsoft] Word file" and by "explorer"
he meant "Windows Explorer" not "Internet Explorer".

You wrote that you were having problems opening certain existing documents.

Using Windows Explorer, right-click on one such file.
Choose "Open With ..." and then "Choose program ...".
This will show a list of programs (may take a short while).
Select the program which you want Windows to use to open the file in future.
For documents, choose Microsoft Word
For spreadsheets, Microsoft Excel
e.t.c.

You will need to do this once for each different type of file
(document, spreadsheet, presentation, etc.)

==

If you are *still* having problems, right-click and select "Properties".
Near the top of the properties display there should be a section with
the entries:

Type of File:
Opens with:

Make a note of the settings and ask again.

I propose the fix should get into AOO 4.0.1 to solve the stability problem for
now. The sidebar functionality doesn't seem to be impacted but this scenario
should better be reviewed by our resident sidebar expert.

I have review the patch and applied it locally. The fix works and looks ok to
me. Not critical and helps for now to survive.

 Regina,
Sorry for my pen mistake, all statement of 12666 in my previous comment
should be 121126. I also corrected it in the issue.
About formula "=2>1", it is from the sample XLS in 121126. Once I
 rolled
back fix code of 121126, I found it returned 1.0.
I tested formula with "=2>1" which applied currency number format, it
 works.
Thanks for you reminder, I will add checking "if (&rFormatter==NULL)"

this sounds interesting but I believe such a change is better made in
4.1 or what do you think? The risk to introduce new regressions is high,
isn't it.

What is the impact for the user or is there an impact at all for our
users. Of course I am no expert in this area, so excuse potential stupid
questions.

Excellent wish more universities did the same.

Probably QA would be a good place to start, we have a QA mailing list
and an introductory module to learn about the way to contribute to QA
and testing:
