Re: poppler soname bump in Rawhide soon
I'm looking in to efl FTBFS. It seems to be issues on s390x and ppc64le related to more strict requirements, checks in gcc 14. I'm investigating them now and if I will not be able to fix them promptly I will submit a PR with a workaround( at first look disable altivec on ppc64le and for s390x skipping the arch for time being assuming that embryo_cc can't be disabled) by tomorrow so rebuild can continue, while forking on proper fix. Hi, I've prepared rebase of poppler to 23.08.0, which was released today, in the side tag "f39-build-side-70931". I'm asking you to build your dependent packages in it and I will merge it to the main buildroot at Monday (7th of August) just before the branching. There are several API changes and soname bump of the base library libpoppler.so.*. Packages which need to be rebuilt: calligra gambas3 gdal gdcm inkscape kf5-kitinerary libreoffice pdf2djvu scribus If your package still uses the unstable API (headers from poppler-devel), could you consider to change it to use a stable API in the future (glib, qt5, C++)? It seems that all these packages build fine with the new poppler so it should not take much time this time (according to local scratch-build). Hi, I plan to rebase poppler to 22.08.0 once it is available. The release usually happens at the beginning of month so I'm waiting for it now. Once it is ready, I'll build it in a side tag and will post it here. I plan to merge the side tag with buildroot next week before branching. Hi, I've prepared rebase of poppler to 22.01.0 in the side tag "f36-build-side-49530". I'm asking you to build your dependent packages in it and I will ask to merge it to main branch next Tuesday (18th of January) just before the mass rebuild. But I've decided to push the rebase though because branching will happen today and I could not do chain build after that for F29. Btw, if your package use the unstable API (headers from poppler-devel), could you consider to change it to use a stable API (glib, qt, C++)? Hi, I've already pushed the change to rawhide at night. The only problems are LibreOffice and GDAL now. They don't build from source even without the rebase of poppler. I'm looking at the GDAL now and I see that Caolan has pushed new LibreOffice to rawhide. Any news on gdal? This breaks three of the Fedora Spins: Astronomy, Robotic and Scientific. So please fix this asap! And please coordinate that better next time, poppler is known to break things… Pushing that before branching (and mostly without announcement, because there was no time to test) was not a good idea :( Thanks for raising. Asking for Fedora Scientific - should I comment out packages which needs gdal?
