There was a little discussion of it last November in this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54571 Cool device. If I didn't already have more SB's than rooms I'd get one. I think it's a big mistake that SD doesn't offer a similar package. Have an amp built in solves a lot of problems. Less wiring, no hassle trying to get the amp top switch on/off with the SB. Integrated volume control... I know there are solutions for all these problems. I tried most of them. I have powered studio monitors switched with the ampswitch plugin in the living room. I have T-amp's in the office and bedrooms permanently on. But this is a much cleaner solution. Re: [slim] SB1 syncing tips?
What is the list of third-party plugins you are running? Please try disabling them all and, if that fixes thing, enabling them one by one. There are/have been a number of third-party plugins that listen for track-start events and then do -clever- stuff. If this takes more than about 50ms then it risks interfering with the synchronized start logic. This will especially hit SB1s (and SliMP3s) - see my previous explanation. -- awy awy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7480 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62152 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Has anyone else had this problem or better yet, found a solution for it? Does the FIOS remote have a learn function? No. It's the wretched paperwork. We had to collect a mountain of documents and signature to transfer a long existing telephone line from my deceased mother in law tomy wife who now owns the house. We have done that in two weeks. It will be another two to establish a broadband installation, but by then it will nearly be time for us to return to England for the summer. When we come back to Cyprus in the autumn, we can install the broadband. I will be paying twice the price for half the speed I have in UK. [slim] [ANNOUNCE] iPeng 1.1 now on the AppStore
Finally :-) I'm happy to announce the availability of iPeng 1.1, the second major release of iPeng, your ultimate Squeezebox remote. While the 1.0.x releases were mainly focusing on bug fixes and minor enhancements, iPeng 1.1 will bring some more fundamental changes: iPeng goes SqueezeNetwork Long awaited by those of you who don't operate their own serveAccess SqueezeNetworkr or don't want to run it 24/7, iPeng now also offers access to SqueezeNetwork. Just swipe right on the NowPlaying home screen and you will find it on the MultiPlayer Control along with any servers you might have. There is also a new button for each player that will connect or disconnect that player from SqueezeNetwork. What does SqueezeNetwork offer with iPeng? iPeng will support the full functionality of SqueezeNetwork, that is: Play internet radio, podcasts and music services, manage your favorites, and control your players. You will also be able to set alarms and this brings us to the second big change in iPeng 1.1... Plugin Support iPeng 1.1 offers support for the SqueezePlay menu system which allows it to support a lot of functionality as it would show up on a Squeezebox Controller or a SqueezePlay software player. iPeng 1.1 Main Menu with Plugins This open up iPeng to a lot of internal SqueezeCenter features that were not yet supported: Alarms, Sleep, Browse by Years, Random Mix, TrackInfo Details,... almost everything offered by SqueezeCenter will now be controllable on iPeng. Yet it's not limited to that, because using this interface, iPeng also has access to 3rd party plugins, so now you can define your own library queries using CustomBrowse, browse by statistics using TrackStat, get background information using Biography or Album Review, build custom mixes using MusicIP, it's a whole world... Performance Improvements Oh my, iPeng was such a nice app, now with all these new features it's growing fat and slow... No! It doesn't, the opposite is true. iPeng's internals have been completely re-done and use a faster protocol now but also, thanks to great support from Logitech we have been able to make iPeng cooperate better with recent versions of SqueezeCenter so if you use SC 7.3.2 or newer, iPeng will offer some notable performance improvements: * Much faster loading of large databases. Our benchmark in the beta phase was for remote(!) access to a huge database with 247.000 tracks and 24.000 albums, iPeng was synchronizing this database in under 6 minutes! A small database with 2.000 albums should load well below one minute. Note: This may also depend on your server; iPeng can not make up for slow server performance. iPeng synchronizing album cache * iPeng now supports SqueezeCenter's list sorting. This is not only a speed improvement but it also means that ALBUMSORT and ARTISTSORT tags or custom sort orders will be respected by iPeng. Your database will now show up in iPeng as it would in SqueezeCenter. * New option to keep server connection open. This will allow you to get immediate access to your server once your iPhone comes out of standby without having to establish a server connection first. Note: this will use more power and can eventually drain your battery. Along with these big changes, there's a lot of small improvements that make the iPeng experience more feature rich and streamlined. Just upgrade or get your iPeng now on the App Store and... Re: [slim] Tune in URL to run a local program?
Tune in needs an URL. In addition you need to clarify the format of the audio stream and how is it fed into SC. The URL can be standard one such as http - in which case a http request will be sent out on the network interface. The URL can be a fake which is then processed by a protocol handler set up by a Plugin. A relatively simple example is my SharkPlay plugin which takes URLs like shark://98.1 to run a program which tunes teh Griifin RadioSHark to 98.1MHz and then starts a program to route the RadioShark WAV stream into SC. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62250 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

And yet whenever I have visitors at my house they are amazed at the looks, sound and capabilities of the Squeezebox Boom! They are particularly impressed with the fantastic reception (when compared to off the air signal) and with the number of possibilities considering internet radio, music services, etc. I think that if there were such a thing as an area franchise one could make a lot of money! Totally agree and I wish they offered SqueezeBucks for referrals as I know I've sold at least three to friends and demo'd it to dozens more. I think streaming *anything* (music, video, etc...) is still a very niche market. And then just streaming music alone a smaller market still. Internet Radio is well within this small niche. Most are not even aware it exists, many that at least know about it think it's limited to a computer, fewer still can imagine the quite good sound of Internet Radio because they have only ever heard it on crappy computer speakers. How niche is Internet Radio? Well I'm not in the broadcasting biz but the most recent ShoutCast Tune In Report (reported monthly) shows the HIGHEST listened to Internet Radio station as having a total of 3.1 million Tune In's lasting longer than 5 minutes. That's all Tune In's from any/all Internet Radio capable devices, worldwide, for an entire month, including those that logged in 100's of times (same listener). Compare that to how many 100's of millions that reached for their car or home stereo AM/FM tuners in that same month. :) But that's ok, we'll keep it to ourselves and enjoy very decent sound and an incredible selection of stations and genres to choose from with FAR fewer commercials. :) -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62207 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Everything under Extras and Settings (Except iPeng Settings) is a SqueezePlay menu, Years, TrackInfo and any other plugins you might have are SqueezePlay menus. You may not immediately note them, some differences are sublte, the best indicator is when you see inverted icons in the title bar. Anything on SqueezeNetwork is a SqueezePlay menu, SN doesn't support the traditional queries iPeng uses. Actually the SP menu system is a way to push menus to the SB Controller (and now also iPeng) used by SC and plugins. ipeng still uses the traditional queries for it's own menus since they perform better and have more capability - the big advantage of the SP menus is, that they are more flexible. Well, I told you it was early in the morning in Oz, but the sun is up and I am now awake. I've created a MusicIP mix and its playing now - I searched and selected an artist, then selected an album from that artist, then listed all songs for the album. Touch and hold a track and a new menu shows up with the track title at the top and a bunch of options including Create MusicIP Mix , tap the and a mix is created with the option to Play this mix. Is there another way ? Also I pressed the iTouch buttons on the left side of the player with amazing results, very clever ! -- Wirrunna A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Re: [slim] iPeng Application 1.0 now on the App Store
Hello all. iPeng is wonderful. For picking music, it makes the iPod unbeatable for me. I recently started using a tablet computer occasionally, but the lack of iPeng makes me prefer the touch. Thank you Pippin. I have developed a Crestron (home automation equipment) interface for SC, which now allows me to use the iPod Touch as a remote for the entire system, including source selection and control, volume, and lighting. For two sources, I use a SB2 and a SqueezeSlave on the server. Having the ability to control source and volume on the same page as music is really good for me. (I know that you can do volume in the SB, but that doesn't work for TV, etc.) The problem is that the functionality of my SC module is a joke in comparison to iPeng. It's mostly usable but only a fraction of the way there. (No search, no now playing manipulation, only currently playing cover art). It does have some things I would love in iPeng like dynamic playlist integration (still use iPeng web interface for that sometimes). My point is that I applaud your efforts and discussion because increased control from the iPod is great. I agree with Pippin that one problem with the iPod is the auto-lock (or lack of screen blanking without locking) and would add to that criticism the lack of hard buttons, which means you generally have to look at it to use it, making TV control a little less great. There are a number of devices that you can control via IP (Tivo, SqueezeCenter, Crestron, AMX, ...); perhaps it would be a good idea, as you say Pippin, to develop a plugin for SC that could interface with various things. Then you could put a GUI interface to that plugin to send commands from iPeng, if I understood you correctly. The beauty of the idea for me is that I could do a lot of the parsing and processing on the SC computer, in a Crestron plugin, rather than on my (more and more heavily loaded) Crestron processor. This would take generic commands from the CLI interface and send them to various devices. For me that's Crestron, but other people could directly control a TivO or, as you have been discussing, send IR commands from the SB to an emitter. Okay, sorry to ramble on there, if you made it through. I know nothing about writing plugins for SC, so I'm not really the right person to start this project, but I might start looking into it.
