I only learned about it when someone, I think Autopilot requested it.
It works but is very buggy (the App).

You mean in tapatalk? I am under the impression that tapatalks search
doesn't work well right now. Try entering "Squeeze" in "Search" and try
a few times. When you have found it once, it will be in your
"Favorites".

On iPeng: First things first :-)

Re: [slim] SoftSqueeze...???

2009-10-28 Thread ralphy

Try changing these three lines starting at line 22 in
slim/LocalPlayer.lua from;

local DEVICE_ID = 12
local DEVICE_MODEL = "squeezeplay"
local DEVICE_NAME= "SqueezePlay"

to;

local DEVICE_ID = 9
local DEVICE_MODEL = "controller"
local DEVICE_NAME= "Controller"

and restarting SqueezePlay.

It should make squeezeplay appear to be an actual controller to 7.3.

This has worked in the past, but I haven't tested it so YMMV.

[slim] PC Problem - won't suspend/sleep anymore

2009-10-28 Thread autopilot

This is not directly Squeezebox related, but it is my main server i'm
having trouble. I was hoping you guys could help because i have hit a
wall now.

I used WOL with my Squeezebox's and, bar the odd bug now and again
during beta tests, it's pretty much been flawless. I have set my PC
(Vista64 sp2) to sleep (S3) after 15 min's of inactivity.

But now my PC will never try to go into sleep mode. I have removed
everything else from the network to eliminate any rouge WOL magic
packets. I did not think that was a problem anyway, because if i
manually sleep the PC it stays asleep. I have experienced problems
before with my Squeezebox sending WOL packets when they should not and
when that happened the PC would sleep then get woken straight away,
which is not the case here - the PC never enters sleep mode to begin
with.

I have also looked at what programs and services run at startup. I can
see nothing obvious, but might have missed something. I have also
removed as much as possible.

Whats left to try? I have checked systems power settings, and nothing
has changed anyway. Any idea what to do next are very welcome!

[slim] Delay possible between SBR analog and digital out

2009-10-28 Thread lauret

I want to use a subwoofer eq processor, but this introduces a delay of
7,5 ms (or more than 2,5m delay). As the subwoofers stand under the main
speakers (thus at the same distance from the listening position) this is
undesirable.

Would it be possible to create a delay between the analog outputs and
the digital outputs (where the digital output should have a delay of
7,5ms)? I use the digital output via a DAC for the main speakers and I
could use the analog outputs for the subwoofer processing.

Or altenatively to buy another SBR which could have a delay when synced
to the other SBR?

Thanks!

As long as you are *certain* your SB3 IR remote is dead, you can try
fixing it yourself.
Quite often the IR "eye" or transmitter at the end of the remote simply
needs to be re-soldered, especially if it has been dropped.
May as well crack it open and take a look before throwing it away. :)

This is a link to the spare parts store of Logitech,

unfortunately they only stock the Boom remote. :(
But if the Touch comes with the big remote, there is a slight chance
that they will stock it some time in the future. Does anybody know which
remote is included with the Touch? EDIT: Following the pictures on

The remote that came with the beta SBTs -- and appears to be the one
pictured at Amazon and Logitech web sites -- is smaller than the
SB3/Classic remote and larger than the Boom remote.

Re: [slim] KEXP uncompressed

2009-10-28 Thread ChrisG

Apologies in advance for the newbie quality of this, my first post.
I've read what I could find on the forums and wiki, and I'm stumped.

Background: I'm currently in the process of moving my music to the
Squeezebox system. Right now, I'm configuring the Squeezebox Server
v7.4.0 (on a Ubuntu box), loading up my music library in FLAC format,
etc. and testing everything using SoftSqueeze and SqueezePlay (i.e.
keeping it simple by avoiding the use of Squeezebox hardware -- I'll add
that into the mix once I have the software side of things working).
It's all going smoothly, with one exception: I can't seem to get the
KEXP.org uncompressed stream at

mms://media-wm.cac.washington.edu/KEXP-Uncompressed

to work. Reading up on the issue in the forums, etc. tells me that
this URL leads to an uncompressed WAV, which is not what Squeezebox
Server is expecting from mms. A few posts have indicated that
unchecking Windows Media "built-in" in the Server settings, or (as
mentioned in the post above) disabling WMA decoding, should do the
trick.

My question is, how do I do this with the 7.4.x Server? Accessing it
via its web interface, I navigate to Settings > Advanced > File Types,
and I see options for Windows Media, WMA Lossless, and WMAPro, amongst
others. What exactly should be the configuration of these various
options? I've tried numerous combinations of different settings for the
above file types, as well as entering "wma" in the Disabled Audio File
Extensions, without any luck; all such attempts lead to the player
saying either "Unable to play file type", or "Unable to parse ASF
audio".

Any ideas? I'm happy to do more research, if only I could figure out
what I should be reading...

Thanks for the reply. So, I need to configure mplayer on the Ubuntu

And then, once I have that working, disable all decoding of "WMA

Re: [slim] KEXP uncompressed

2009-10-28 Thread bpa

KEXP pretends that is a WMA stream - you disable WMA NOT WMA lossless.

With Ubuntu just install mplayer from the Ubuntu package manager - just
make sure it is the "no GUI" version. Install mplayer before AlienBBC.

Install ALienBBC plugin from WebUI Plugins settings. The WMA support
is historical and not the main reason for AlienBBC so there is little
mention of it. Are you running 7.4.* or 7.3.* - if 7.4 then you will
need to install AlienBBC beta 2.6.

Re: [slim] KEXP uncompressed

2009-10-28 Thread ChrisG

So, to sum up:

I need to use mplayer (via the AlienBBC plugin) to do the transcoding
from the WAV (provided by the KEXP stream) to FLAC.

And I must disable WMA. Presumably I must do the latter directly in
/etc/squeezeboxserver/custom-convert.conf, since the Squeezebox Server's
web interface does not appear to have any option to disable plain WMA
(as opposed to WMA Lossless, WMAPro, etc.) within the Settings page.

Are there examples out there of the lines required in
custom-convert.conf to disable WMA? Or a tutorial on how to handle this
file?

2009-10-28 Thread ASenna04

I think you will find that there is a setting on QNAP on how often it
checks with the time server and sync the QNAP time. I had the same issue
and found the time was not automatically changed on Sunday. I found this
setting and the default interval was 7 days. I changed it to 12 Hours
and it worked.

Re: [slim] Controller Blues

2009-10-28 Thread NAG

Hi All - I used to use headphones on my controller with 7.3.x firmware
(it worked really well, no issues), but with 7.4.1 I cannot find how to
select
the controller unit as the output source.

For an unsupported beta feature, it was a REALLY nice to have for me.

Can someone point me to the right menu place?

Thanks!

I don't have my SBC handy, so the menu names might not be exactly
correct, but on the SBC it's something like Settings > Advanced > Beta
features > Audio Playback. Then you need to use the "Choose Player" menu
to choose the SBC as the device to be controlled. If that doesn't work,
try rebooting the SBC after enabling audio playback.

Re: [slim] KEXP uncompressed

2009-10-28 Thread ChrisG

Addendum to my last: I installed mplayer-nogui, got the beta version of
AlienBBC (since I'm running version 7.4 of the Squeezebox Server) and
installed it, added the KEXP mms URL as a station, and finally, changed
my File Types configuration as you instructed. Shamefacedly, I must
admit that I didn't realize that "Windows Media" under the File Types
was the same thing as WMA -- duh -- and I see that you just explained
that in a new post. :-)

Anyway, thanks for your help. It's working now.

[slim] Napster Plugin - Login failure

2009-10-28 Thread RaK

Hi Guys,

there is a possible Bug in the Napster plugin. I tried to Login via the
Web interface suing the provided user:pass combination from napster.de.

It was impossible to login via the web interface. The status message
was always wrong user/pass. Using the menu on the SB itself worked
fine.

I assume that the webinterface did not use user:pass correctly. I
assume it used the password also for the username. This can not work.
Sorry, I cant reproduce the error here on my system as napster works
now.

[slim] The new Squeezeplay

2009-10-28 Thread Kvaks

So I just upgraded to 7.4 on the server side, and (apparently) had to
upgrade Squeezeplay as well for it to work properly with the server. And
I have a few questions about the new interface.

I used to be able to access the "now playing" screen by pressing 'h'
twice (once to go to the root menu, once more for "now playing"). Now
this no longer works. I have to press 'h' to go to the root menu, then
reach for the mouse and click a button in the top right corner. Why?

And I used to be able to add music to the current playlist by pressing
'a' when browsing. Now the 'a' key brings up a menu. So I have to press
'a' and then reach for the mouse and choose to add the music from a menu
item. Awkward! Why not stick to the old 'a' to add and 'A' to play next?
(The latter still works directly for some reason!)

Now, I always find it annoying when new versions of software changes up
shortcuts and the GUI. It takes a bit of time to get used to, but
usually the annoyance passes quickly and I'm often better off with the
changes. But this time it appears that Squeezeplay has gone from an
interface that could be navigated by keyboard only to an interface that
requires both keyboard and mouse. Why??? There's no way this isn't going
to be slower to work with. The old Squeezeplay was the fastest way to
access the Squeezebox system, in my opinion. Faster than the web
interface and MUCH faster than the Duet Controller.

[slim] Specifying default artwork for a stream

2009-10-28 Thread ChrisG

I'm wondering if it's possible to configure the Squeezebox Server to use
a particular user-specified image for a particular stream's artwork.
This way, if the stream does not include/specify any artwork of its own,
the server could default to using a particular piece of artwork chosen
by the user, instead of the generic internet radio art.

I'm thinking of something conceptually similar to the ability to
associate an icon with a favorite in the favorites.opml file; you'd be
able to specify the stream and the image to be used when it is playing.

If this is not possible, would it be difficult to add to the software
for a future release?

[slim] Squeezeplay question

2009-10-28 Thread mlsstl

While I've had a Squeezebox for several years to play my music
collection, I've never been much of a internet radio listener. With the
new server software I've paid a bit more attention to it this time
around.

As a result I thought it would be nice to listen to internet radio at
work so I installed the current 7.4 Squeezeplay nightly yesterday. I did
not install Squeezeboxserver since I had no music collection to play at
work.

Interestingly, Squeezeplay played MP3 streams quite nicely (but not WMA
ones) but then quit working after about an hour. Now, the internet radio
option does not even appear as a menu item. Our work system does not
have ports 9000 and 3484 open, but that was true when I first installed
Squeezeplay when it worked.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times (and also tried the 7.5
nightly) with no change.

Any suggestions?

So here's my dilemma.

I have an open incident. Waiting for a replacement battery, was told

2) I finally email support with my incident number and it auto replies
telling me my email address doesn't match the incident.

3) I try to update my online profile with my email address as they
requested in the reply email, but I don't know my password.

4) I try to get it to send me my password for my email address, and it
then procedes to tell my account is invalid.

At what point do you just fire you dead Duet against the wall and just

Not always. I'm running a SVN checkout of 7.3.x, and it's using a
"my.cnf" file in the SqueezeCenter Cache directory. SqueezeCenter spawns
separate mysqld processes for SqueezeCenter using mysqld binaries
compiled by Logitech and pulled from Subversion. SVN checkouts of SBS

Yes, indeed. I suspect Michael's right about those using the RPM and
.deb packages, but SVN behaves differently, and I expect the fat tarball
releases may, too.

Server specific my.cnf, it's started by Squeezebox Server like this:

/usr/sbin/mysqld --defaults-file=/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/my.cnf

[slim] 7.4.(x) random mix excluding Genres doesn't work

2009-10-28 Thread curry100

I have a bundle of Christmas music which obviously I don't want popping
up when playing a random mix of songs. 7.3.X would let you uncheck
genres so they wouldn't be added to the mix. 7.4.X does the same, but
unfortunatley it ignores this and still sticks Christmas song into the
mix.

This is the 2nd annoyance for me with 7.4 and I'm reverting back as
this is just getting to be a pain.

Cheers,
Harry
