[slim] PC Problem - won't suspend/sleep anymore
This is not directly Squeezebox related, but it is my main server i'm having trouble. I was hoping you guys could help because i have hit a wall now. I used WOL with my Squeezebox's and, bar the odd bug now and again during beta tests, it's pretty much been flawless. I have set my PC (Vista64 sp2) to sleep (S3) after 15 min's of inactivity. But now my PC will never try to go into sleep mode. I have removed everything else from the network to eliminate any rouge WOL magic packets. I did not think that was a problem anyway, because if i manually sleep the PC it stays asleep. I have experienced problems before with my Squeezebox sending WOL packets when they should not and when that happened the PC would sleep then get woken straight away, which is not the case here - the PC never enters sleep mode to begin with. I have also looked at what programs and services run at startup. I can see nothing obvious, but might have missed something. I have also removed as much as possible. Whats left to try? I have checked systems power settings, and nothing has changed anyway. [slim] Delay possible between SBR analog and digital out
I want to use a subwoofer eq processor, but this introduces a delay of 7,5 ms (or more than 2,5m delay). As the subwoofers stand under the main speakers (thus at the same distance from the listening position) this is undesirable. Would it be possible to create a delay between the analog outputs and the digital outputs (where the digital output should have a delay of 7,5ms)? Re: [slim] KEXP uncompressed
Apologies in advance for the newbie quality of this, my first post. I've read what I could find on the forums and wiki, and I'm stumped. Background: I'm currently in the process of moving my music to the Squeezebox system. Right now, I'm configuring the Squeezebox Server v7.4.0 (on a Ubuntu box), loading up my music library in FLAC format, etc. and testing everything using SoftSqueeze and SqueezePlay (i.e. keeping it simple by avoiding the use of Squeezebox hardware -- I'll add that into the mix once I have the software side of things working). It's all going smoothly, with one exception: I can't seem to get the KEXP.org uncompressed stream at mms://media-wm.cac.washington.edu/KEXP-Uncompressed to work. Reading up on the issue in the forums, etc. tells me that this URL leads to an uncompressed WAV, which is not what Squeezebox Server is expecting from mms. A few posts have indicated that unchecking Windows Media "built-in" in the Server settings, or (as mentioned in the post above) disabling WMA decoding, should do the trick. My question is, how do I do this with the 7.4.x Server? Accessing it via its web interface, I navigate to Settings > Advanced > File Types, and I see options for Windows Media, WMA Lossless, and WMAPro, amongst others. What exactly should be the configuration of these various options? I've tried numerous combinations of different settings for the above file types, as well as entering "wma" in the Disabled Audio File Extensions, without any luck; all such attempts lead to the player saying either "Unable to play file type", or "Unable to parse ASF audio". Any ideas? I'm happy to do more research, if only I could figure out what I should be reading... -- ChrisG ChrisG's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33903 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65541 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] KEXP uncompressed
KEXP pretends that is a WMA stream - you disable WMA NOT WMA lossless. With Ubuntu just install mplayer from the Ubuntu package manager - just make sure it is the "no GUI" version. Install mplayer before AlienBBC. Install ALienBBC plugin from WebUI Plugins settings. The WMA support is historical and not the main reason for AlienBBC so there is little mention of it. Are you running 7.4.* or 7.3.* - if 7.4 then you will need to install AlienBBC beta 2.6. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65541 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] KEXP uncompressed
So, to sum up: I need to use mplayer (via the AlienBBC plugin) to do the transcoding from the WAV (provided by the KEXP stream) to FLAC. And I must disable WMA. Presumably I must do the latter directly in /etc/squeezeboxserver/custom-convert.conf, since the Squeezebox Server's web interface does not appear to have any option to disable plain WMA (as opposed to WMA Lossless, WMAPro, etc.) within the Settings page. And I used to be able to add music to the current playlist by pressing 'a' when browsing. Now the 'a' key brings up a menu. So I have to press 'a' and then reach for the mouse and choose to add the music from a menu item. Awkward! Why not stick to the old 'a' to add and 'A' to play next? (The latter still works directly for some reason!) Now, I always find it annoying when new versions of software changes up shortcuts and the GUI. It takes a bit of time to get used to, but usually the annoyance passes quickly and I'm often better off with the changes. But this time it appears that Squeezeplay has gone from an interface that could be navigated by keyboard only to an interface that requires both keyboard and mouse. Why??? There's no way this isn't going to be slower to work with. The old Squeezeplay was the fastest way to access the Squeezebox system, in my opinion. Faster than the web interface and MUCH faster than the Duet Controller. -- Kvaks Kvaks's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21610 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70535 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Specifying default artwork for a stream
I'm wondering if it's possible to configure the Squeezebox Server to use a particular user-specified image for a particular stream's artwork. This way, if the stream does not include/specify any artwork of its own, the server could default to using a particular piece of artwork chosen by the user, instead of the generic internet radio art. I'm thinking of something conceptually similar to the ability to associate an icon with a favorite in the favorites.opml file; you'd be able to specify the stream and the image to be used when it is playing. If this is not possible, would it be difficult to add to the software for a future release? -- ChrisG ChrisG's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33903 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70545 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Squeezeplay question
While I've had a Squeezebox for several years to play my music collection, I've never been much of a internet radio listener. With the new server software I've paid a bit more attention to it this time around. As a result I thought it would be nice to listen to internet radio at work so I installed the current 7.4 Squeezeplay nightly yesterday. I did not install Squeezeboxserver since I had no music collection to play at work. Interestingly, Squeezeplay played MP3 streams quite nicely (but not WMA ones) but then quit working after about an hour. Now, the internet radio option does not even appear as a menu item. Our work system does not have ports 9000 and 3484 open, but that was true when I first installed Squeezeplay when it worked. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times (and also tried the 7.5 nightly) with no change. So here's my dilemma. I have an open incident. [slim] 7.4.(x) random mix excluding Genres doesn't work
I have a bundle of Christmas music which obviously I don't want popping up when playing a random mix of songs. 7.3.X would let you uncheck genres so they wouldn't be added to the mix. 7.4.X does the same, but unfortunatley it ignores this and still sticks Christmas song into the mix.
