Re: [slim] What If Logitech Partnered with VortexBox?
Hehe All this talk about the Vortexbox appliance makes me wonder if I should buy one... I installed the image on a laptop and it worked like a charm. But my music is currently on a usb-disk, and that made the vortexbox so not-an-appliance-at-all that I ended up quitting and going back to the win-xp installation I had before (actually a fresh install, but whatever...) But I'm sure it's another story when running as it's supposed to. And at less than 400$ it's probably close to unbeatable. And yes, Logitech should definately link to Vortexbox.org the same way it links to the iPeng site. but a closer relationship than that is probalby not a good idea. -- Muele BR Mogens 2 Radios (1 battery), 2 Controllers, 2 Receivers, 1 Squeezeplay. I've also tried running SBS on a separate vista PC, and connecting to spotify running on the laptop (i.e. same setup as with the vortexbox, but a windows vista PC is running sbs instead) and this works perfectly. Are there any known issues with running sbs on a linux PC connecting to spotify/dsbridge running on a windows PC? Just wanted to post an update on this, in case other people have the same problems. Basically, I got it to work but I have no idea how or why. I deleted the favorite pointing to the laptop URL with spotify+dsbridge, and added it again by typing the url as an internet radio. It still didn't work, though (with the same symptoms as those described above), so in frustration I pressed the play button several times. And suddenly, it started working. Re: [slim] What If Logitech Partnered with VortexBox?
I'm another recent convert to Vortexbox. We had a perfectly usable server powering the software before, but it was a power hog (the BIOS didn't support WOL) and not exactly user friendly for my better half. It's a very, very slick solution. Plug and play for those that want a turnkey solution but with the ability to mess around under the bonnet if you want. As for the USB point - I haven't found that to be an issue at all - I've see the thread on here but it doesn't reflect my experience. There are some fairly clear instructions to follow on the vortexbox forums and then all works as expected. Although I agree that the developers may make that aspect more plug and play in future too. -- Siduhe Who am I on 'LAST.FM' (http://www.last.fm/user/siduhe)? -Siduhe Loved Tracks radio got the thumbs up. [slim] Where to go if App Fails To Connect
What's the process to report an error when a specific App, for me today it's Mediafly, fails when it's selected on a Squeezebox. OIC, yes, that is correct. You could probably do some customizations to your liking. Like keep Local to your true local, then use RadioTime's presets and folders for another areas/types, etc.. You can create multiple folders on RadioTime. You have to keep in mind that the Internet Radio menu item is really more for the casual listener (you don't even need a MySB account to use it). I think the more dedicated Internet Radio and Music Services listener will mostly use the My Apps menu. An example, using RadioTime and your SBS web UI to easily save multiple locals each as a separate Folder in your SBS Favorites: SBS web UI RadioTime By Location North America United States *pick state* . now hover your mouse over your desired city, click the HEART icon This will create a unique, separate folder of that cities locals in your SBS Favorites Repeat for as many cities (or states, or countries, or continent). I just want to say 'Thanks!' Frank for continued work. Not only did you add my .csv request, but for those that don't need the album art, this will also help with print setup issues some people have mentioned, since once in Excel you can do what you want with info, layout, etc. So, if you've been willing to pay for iPeng or other coding people have done mostly for no real monetary gain (I can't imagine iPeng covers Pippin's rent and ski vacations) why not voluntarily donate to this?
