Re: [slim] Problems connection to server

2010-10-12 Thread mipnet

Thanks for the detailed answer.

I have a Netgear router and I have accessed it through
http://192.168.1.1.
I tried to uncheck the 'Use Router as DHCP Server'.
However that didn't seem to change anythinig.

In the router I have a status list of attached devices.
1 192.168.1.2 STUEAFSPILLER 00:04:20:12:7a:ac (working squeezebox 3)
2 192.168.1.4 SQUEEZEBOX00:04:20:27:64:75 (squeezebox radio)
3 192.168.1.6 SQUEEZEBOX00:04:20:27:67:6b (squeezebox radio)

I think that the working squeezebox might be working properly because
it let me type in the ip 10.0.0.6. That option doesn't seem to be an
option in the squeezebox radios.

A.

You would not have squeezebox server scan media monkey. Just point it
to where ever you store your music.

Hi! Your server is not on the same network as the other boxes that
can't talk to it. Please reply with what kind of router (and model) and
what operating system you are using.

It sounds like you should open a web browser and type (in the address
bar, not "search")

http://192.168.1.254

If this does not show you a login screen or a menu, you need to see
above and reply.

If you get a login screen, try user admin and no password.

If this does not show you a login screen or a menu, you need to see
above and reply.

If you get a menu, you will find the DHCP server settings of your
router and DISABLE the DHCP service.

Right now you seem to have 2 different devices (probably your router
and your cable/dsl modem) that are both giving out IP addresses. When a
device (computer or squeezebox) gets an address from a DHCP server, it
will keep using it whenever possible. Your "working" squeezebox got an
address from the DHCP server (either your router or modem) that worked
and it (they) are still asking for the same one each time they
turn-on.

Type back for more help.

See this thread about Biography plugin. Pretty much depends on your
type of server of course, but the first post also contains a link to
the original instructions:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80791

As to what comes next: the final most voted feature in my previous poll
was album and artist list caching (covers included). As I just got a
2star rating in US by someone with a huge library who indeed complains
that SqueezePad is just as slow as his Logitech box, guess now it's the
right time.
I need to take a short break now though. Worked too much in the night
the last weeks.

They won't show the links but if they are installed properly they
shouldn't show any html tags, they should just show the text.

For example, if a page contains:
http://www.google.com";>Google

It will be displayed as:
Google

If this isn't the case in your setup, there is something wrong with
your installation. In that case I suggest that you post in the third
party plugins section of the forum as this isn't specific to
SqueezePad.
If I remember correctly there was some additional perl modules which
were available on Michael's site that had to be installed manually to
make it work correctly.

Now iPeng actually has _two_ of them. The first one is essentially the

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !

2010-10-12 Thread bluegaspode

Ohhh - Apple ... what happened ?

They released SqueezePad v1.5 this minute ... so no need to keep
posting snippets anymore.

I'm happy to present the main feature: a reworked playlist !
Just hit or drag the new playlist button on the right and the playlist
will move into view.
Reorder the songs, remove them (swipe an entry) or just select which
song you want to hear next.

Every item's got a context menu of course ... and I really like
browsing my library (or reading biographies) based on the current
playlist.

Last but not least: of course you can also save, load and clear
playlists.

Other features changed in this version (some already announced but for
completeness sake repeated here):
- if you change the volume or use the slider to change to song
position, a small popup shows you the current and future value
- when running against a local server, menus are now localized in the
language you configured on the server. This gives access to languages
like Swedish, Norwegian, Polish or Czech for most of the UI
- rendering of menu-items with covers and long text have been improved.
This improves WiMP and Napster (and other) menus very much
- rendering of cover art was improved. The aspect-ratio is not changed
anymore so menus from BBCiPlayer or WiMP look much better.

I have no personal experience with the Transporter, but I do have a
Boom which has the same kind of display (VFD) of which the Transporter
has two. I can tell you that the display on the Boom gets warm, you can
feel it radiating from a few centimetres away. Also, the Transporter has
an internal PSU which must add to the heat inside the case. So
considering all this, I would expect the Transporter to become somewhat
warm, hopefully not hot though..

That might be something for erlands patch-applet - guess other people

Let's continue with some screenshots ...
If you setup your SqueezeBox Server, SqueezePad v1.5 will respect your
language setting there as much as possible.
So you are not bound anymore to the native languages of the iPad.

Hm, then I don't fully understand why you need volume up/down buttons.
I mean, after all the volume is fixed, the only reason I'm aware of for
still wanting volume changes is that you have a plugin that interprets
them to control an amp while the SB's volume stays fixed.
There are three of these I'm aware of (and that work with iPeng), two
for Denon amps that directly control the volume (so you keep the
slider) and then there's IRBlaster which captures up/down changes and
sends them to the amplifier.
iPeng will NOT manipulate the volume value for a SB that is set to
fixed volume because this would confuse the group volume control and
there is little sense in it anyway. Yet I am NOT sure whether this also
applies to the Touch if the fixed volume is being set by a plugin, I
don't know how that mechanism works.

OK, let me clarify.

Today I am have my Touch volume fixed to 100% and I control the amp with
the amp remote.

What I would like to be abel to do is fix the digital out volume of the
Touch to 100% and have the IR emitter connected to the Touch blast the
volume up or volume down signals for the amp volume when the volume is
changed on the iPeng iPad.

I though this was what the IRBlaster plugin did, no?

Also I have fixed the volume at 100% on the Touch using a plugin (can't

I am not using any plugin to control the amp. I use the original remote

Thanks for responding.

I use the Touch, will the plugin work with it. Also I have fixed the
volume at 100% on the Touch using a plugin (can't remember which) since
this feature is not there on Squeezeserver for the Touch.

I am not using any plugin to control the amp. I use the original remote
for the amp to control the volume.

IRBlaster is a plugin that runs an IR emitter from the headphone jack
of the Squeezebox Classic, Transporter or Boom.
Have a look at the 3rd party plugins section.
If you just need a way to change the volume you could just enable the
plugin and enter _something_ for the volume change command. The plugin
will then report to iPeng that it's accepting volume changes even
though the actual volume is fixed to 100%.
Which plugin are you using to control your amp?

I have my Squeezebox Server running on a Mac Mini that is located in a
different room to where the Hifi is. Can someone direct me to an
irblaster that has build in wifi so that it can be placed away from
Mini and recieve the signal through Wifi and control the HiFi volume
etc...

Don't exactly know what you mean by "screen allocation" in this case.
Both Sonos and Remote don't really change the screen layout while you
browse. Or do you mean "same" as in compared to the iPhone App?
Compared to the iPhone App it's different, don't like the cheap way
Sonos did it. Don't like microfiche-sized artwork either :D

Re: [slim] Getting Sporting News Radio & XM

2010-10-12 Thread toby10

Try this URL:
http://2643.live.streamtheworld.com:80/SPORTINGNEWSRADIOAACCMP3

If you copy & paste it into your MySB Favorites it should play if you
have a Touch or Radio (older players won't play AAC).
If you have an older player, or prefer using SBS anyway, cut & paste to
your SBS Favorites.

Squid,

SqueezeCommander is behaves pretty bad in case anything goes wrong with
your download.
Sometimes, it happens that you receive a timeout or your network
connections drops for a short period of time.
In this case, SqueezeCommander will register the problem and remove the
faulty download, but there is no resume logic, yet.
It will just go on with the next download...
That's really not very convenient and I'll try to improve it in the
future (e.g. resume/retry the failed downloads).

You can see the cause of the problem in the Logfile, e.g. see
http://www.squeezecommander.com/trac/wiki/Logfile for how to send
yourself (or me :-) ) your device's log file.

Yes, that's a planned feature, but there are some other things with a
higher priority that I'm working on right now. (e.g. generic server
plugin support/SqueezePlay menus)
But I'll definitely try to implement a player feature in the future...

Now that is clever. I must check out what this "irblaster" is!

More pictures please.

And give us another clue - Is the screen allocation for different
purpose (Now Playing, Albums, Artwork) pretty much the same as you
navigate (like the Sonos) or it changes (like Remote for iPad)
