Re: [slim] Does somebody know which desktop player works for Ubuntu 10.10 ?
Downoladed from nightly builds http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/index.php?ver=7.5 SqueezePlay: Debian Installer Package squeezeplay_7.5.1~9211_all.deb 14.76 MBApril 25 2011 04:08 lua libraries was installed before. tried to invoke as /opt/squeezeplay/bin/jive (I run sudo ldconfig /opt/squeezeplay/lib before invocation as recommended in another thread) Got completely garbled unreadable screen Looks like the same text was written over multiple times. In addition, the package caused the problems all over OS (Movie player stopped working etc). After purging the package everything returned to normal. I searched thru threads and found at least one other person describing similar problem ( garbled screen ). I run Ubuntu 10.10 on Dell XPS 410 for many months without problems at all. squeezebox server 7.5.4 works flawlessly with two SB3 boxes ( 7.5.2 worked great as well.) I briefly installed 7.5.3 but downgraded back to 7.5.2 due to multiple problems and waited until 7.5.4 -- sl789 sl789's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5667 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87291 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Both softsqueeze and squeezeslave work. What do you mean Softsqueeze didn't work ? Didn't start ? No audio ? Crashed ? Given you have had problem with 3 softplayers - I think the issue might be something in your system config. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87291 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Warning ! squeezeslave-7.5.1-9211_all.deb caused problems all over Ubuntu 10.10
I did a colossal mistake installing squeezeplay_7.5.1-9211_all.deb on Ubuntu 10.10. Suddenly, I started having problems all over the OS in absolutely unexpected places (for example I couldn't play .avi files in Movie Player, applications menu got screwed etc.). Adter I purge this package everything returned to normal. As an "added benefit" the package itself didn't work. I was still defeated by this forum's "More replies below current depth..." threading model... man that's complicated. How does anyone ever find a reply?! I've added a few comments to my article - I'm not sure your custom-convert.conf is right, but I think that's on your To-dos (there seems to be a typo on FLAC - you have a 44k sample-rate, rather than 44.1k?) Plugin.pm is still referencing plugins/WaveInput/, by the way ;) I've had no problems with fragility, quality, or skipping - just the very occasional pause. Is there an issue with hairtunes using different ports? I was under the impression that it was always UDP port 5000? [slim] Squeezebox Touch and Receiver both stopping after one track
Hoping someone can help me with an ongoing problem. I had been having this problem with my squeezebox receiver, and just replaced it with a new Touch as i thought (hoped) the problem might be related to an insufficient-size buffer. However, the problem remains with the Touch. The problem is that playback will often (but not always) stop after the first track of an album is played. Eventually the second track will start, sometimes after about a minute or so. I had thought that the problem was bandwith-related, as I am playing back FLAC files and my main wireless router is quite far away from the squeezebox in question, and I use a repeater to extend the coverage (I get a signal level of close to 100%, although I realize that using the repeater halves the bandwith). However, strangely enough, if I'm in the middle of the first track and advance to the second track, there's no delay--the second track immediately starts. I can also fast-forward within the first track without delay. That's why I'm fairly sure that the problem is NOT a bandwith problem, although obviously i can't be certain and don't have the option of using an ethernet connection to test it in that location. Another thing worth mentioning is that when this happens (i.e., when the first track ends and during the period of delay before the second track starts), whatever I'm using as my controller (sometime iPeng, sometimes a remote laptop) becomes non-responsive--i can't just force the second track to start. It seems that at some point the communication between the server and player is interrupted. I should also mention that I had used this setup for years without this problem. I believe it began to happen after the the last major Squeeze Server upgrade (when it went from from 7.3 to 7.4, I believe). Has anyone else had this problem, and figured out how to solve it? I'm afraid I see a lot of fc's with 1.1 as well. It does seem more stable than before, but I regularly see fc's when I unlock the screen lock. What part of ACC processing seems to take the longest time? > > I'll come back on your album art size question sometime later (i'm at > work now) I have looked at the log and at the beginning of the processing ACC seems to be doing about 40 entries a second. However by the end of the run it takes two or three seconds to process each entry. ACC is progressively slowing down - I do not have the skills/knowledge to troubleshoot this. Maybe it has to do with the NAS? Anyway with the 7.6 changes coming you've got enough to do. I'm just happy to be able to generate the quickref ONLY. Re: [slim] Android Controller App
Just wanted to follow up regarding the rooted nook color. I never could get the official app to work. I started trying various other ones. Squeezetrol didn't work either at all but both SqueezeCommander and Sqeezer worked perfect right off the bat. The interface for Squeezer was lacking so I'm now with SqueezeCommander. Thanks everyone for helping to diagnose/debug! I'm thinking its something in the way that they are making network calls. All I know for sure is that the failing apps didn't even try to send out a server discovery packet (UDP broadcast). -- ajwillys ajwillys's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=45054 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86487 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Pause mode
My squeezebox radio always start in pause mode. That is no problem when I turn the device on manually. However, the alarm-function does not wake me up as I have to push "play" to get the music started. I suspect an easy solution to the problem, but cannot find it myself. -- haakon-li.dragl...@canaldigital.no haakon-li.dragl...@canaldigital.no's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=46036 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87272 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
