At the same location you also find a version file it is that one that tells LMS that's it time to update . So just place the new fw file and version file in updates folder and restart LMS . Another use for EDO is USB only DAC's . They are quite common , the idea behind them is to have good computer audio and USB is commonly found on computers . Now you can utilise such a product on a Touch . IMO it is quite silly to not have multiple inputs on a DAC , I like my products practical ie being able to conect all kinds of stuff and have spare inputs etc. But some USB DAC's are a bargain too . But I agree with Gary , it's not much content worthwhile availed exclusively 24/96 . ( if you can buy the 24/192 they often also sells 24/96 ). Another use is DoP files to a DSD capable DAC over USB , but that's even more niche . You basically have to chose file format over content to get a large enough collection of any of these formats . [slim] UE Music Library. Songs without an Album-tag doesn't appear on Smart Radio ?!
Hi everybody, i have a question regarding my UE Smart Radio. I'm running the UE Music Library on a Raspberry Pi, which works quite nice. I've taken much effort and tagged my entire music collection with Mp3tag. All my songs that have an album tag are displayed perfectly on the Smart Radio. But I also have a lot of songs that I've not given an Album tag, because I don't own the whole album of these songs and i don't want these songs listed in albums on the radio. So i've removed the album tag from these songs and hoped i could find them in interprets on the smart radio and not listed in albums. But my problem now is that no song without an album tag appears on the smart radio. Anyone here who can help me out with this? Have just installed the OS 7 version on my ipad air. It is the first ipeng that I have used so no previous experience other than the Logitech free app. Very disappointed and frustrated to find that Album's are only displayed in alphabetical title order only with no option to select Artist, Year, Album as the Logitech version and also as I believe the Squeezepad app? Have I missed a setting somewhere or is this an omission in the OS 7 version? I like to select by viewing the album cover but trying to remember album titles rather than bands is a lot more difficult? Mog appeared on the left side of my Ipeng home page on the previous Ipeng application. When I moved over to IPeng 7 I can't find a way to have Mog on the left hand side. So you can have both Alternatives instead of having to configure which view you want. It's fully cached and should be as fast as the one in the main menu but the current version has a bug where artwork only works correctly in submenus if you once open the main Albums menus first. IIRC the higher volatage will also make display run a bit warm. I could solve the problem by checking List compilation albums under each artist on the webinterface. I'm quite happy now. One last thing is a bit annoying. The albums on my smart radio are sorted by the albums name and not by artist. Is there any chance to fix this? If you're running a server anyway have you considered getting rid of the UE stuff, converting the radio to a Squeezebox and running LMS instead. I've not personally tried the UE stuff myself but just the thought of even local music needing to go through the internet puts me off massively. Probably another simplification. iPeng UE has an Artists-All Albums menu which does what you want. But seriously: I would switch to the Squeezebox firmware, too. I have a Transporter as my main unit, with a Radio and a Duet servicing auxiliary spaces. I also have two Touches, as yet unused, in their boxes, awaiting deployment. Aside from sound quality issues (I am obviously not qualified from personal experience), I would say go for the Transporter for the build quality and the cool factor -- but if cost is a factor, it 's hard to see the Touch as a bad choice. I didn't know that so many more settings are available with LMS. :) But i still couldn't find the setting for the artist sorting in the albums folder. Yeah it was originally empty before I copied the firmware updates into the directory? Also, I have now removed the firmware files from the two directories mentioned above, after I couldn't get it to work. Has anyone managed to update the Touch/Radio to firmware 7.8 and has a way to do this? It has been a long time since I've done this, but isn't it possible to update the Touch's firmware via a USB stick? That is, copy the firmware file to a USB stick (root directory), insert the stick in the Touch, do the Touch's Settings Advanced Software Update menus, and then be prompted (and accept) to use the USB as the source. Simply copying files will not work. From 7.7.2 to 7.8 what is going wrong. You might need to replace or rename the main script. I don't know what Synology is doing. But check the startup script in /etc/init.d for the actual file LMS is running. That file is either a copy of slimserver.pl or a link to it. There is an issue if software updates is disabled in LMS settings , it does not automatically find new content in the update folder.
