I too see some of these 'clipped' ends of songs, there seem to be more of them on mp3s than on FLAC. Re: [slim] A question about cats
Over on this side of the pond I would recommend using the best cable you can afford labour costs totally outweigh the cost of the materials. Using some form of pre-roped ducting is great although knowing some of the building pratcices I have seen they won't respect that fact that tight bends are a no-no. When we had our extension built I had ducting run from the house under the extension out to my garden office, and being a fibre person I ran 150m of fibre .future proof... Since the UK requires building inspections during construction you will require LSOH cables or plenum cables in walls, or voids. -- MuckleEck Alasdair SB3 -> Linn Majik -> Acoustic Energy Extreme 5 (garden) | SB3 -> Cambridge Audio 640R -> Morduant Short (TV room) | SB3 -> AudioEngine 2 (bedroom-2) | SB3 -> AudioEngine 2 (kitchen) | SBR -> Musical Fidelity A1008 -> JR149 (office)| Squeezebox Radio (bedroom) | SBR -> AudioEngine 2 (Bedroom -3) | Boom (bedroom-4) | Two Controllers Last Fm http://www.last.fm/user/MuckleEck/ MuckleEck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11301 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71301 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

MeSue, I have used a screen only protector ever since I got my Duets (not the exact one but as specified in an earlier post I used a similar sized phone one) I also have a Harmony 1000 remote and got the full body protector for that, it can be fiddly to fit and I am not sure I like the slightly rubbery feel, it also makes it harder to seat in the cradle. Re: [slim] Receiver & Controller Ad-hoc Connection
If you have a wireless network in the house anyway the controller can use that permanently without the need for an ad-hoc connection to the receiver. Although you may need to have it create an ad-hoc connection to switch over to wired from wireless, then switch back to your wireless network. [slim] Softsqueeze Screen Placement
Maybe it is me being dumb but I can't quite understand how to fix this issue. I use softsqueeze (ver 3.6) on my PC in my office to listen to music whilst working. I like to have the SB3 display with the horizontal remote. I want to be able to move the remote and the SB display independently of each other, every time I move one the other moves. When I switch the remote off and then on again the positioning of the remote is random on the screen. I am using a dual monitor setup - screen 1 main and screen 2 extended desktop.. [slim] Server Logging - Issues
(this is probably one for AndyG or similar) I have had problems in the past with the server log filling up (caused by the weather/date/time but that issue has been resolved) so decided to set ALL logging to off. I was away at the weekend and on returning found that the SBs were all showing 13:19 on the Friday 28th March (I returned some 48 hours after that time) I was able to access the server that SC7 is running on and it the computer was running fine. SC on the other hand had stopped responding. The server log was > 3G. I shut SC7 down and copied the log over to another PC (slowly) I have had a look at the log today by splitting into manageable chunks. The first section of the log is in the attached file The last section of the log is also attached. Questions:- 1. Since ALL logging was off why was a log produced at all. 2. What happened? (if anything) Many Thanks My System is as follows:- SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 17793 - Windows Server 2003 - EN - cp1252 Perl Version: 5.8.8 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt +---+ |Filename: Last Section of Log.zip | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4760| +---+ -- MuckleEck Alasdair 3 SB3s - Duet - Linn LK1/LK240 - Acoustat Spectra 11 - AudioEngine 2 - Cambridge Audio 640R - Mordaunt Short MuckleEck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11301 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45681 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] How do you use your Squeezbox/Receiver/Transporter
It seems to me that there have been a number of threads both in these fora and on the wider internet about the use of synchronisation with music services like Rhapsody/Pandora/Slacker and Internet Radio as well as local music files. I am intrigued about how important sync is to people out there, personally living in a family with kids, whose music taste is very different from mine, I am more interested in being able to receive multiple sources at the same time. The only exception to this rule is when we have a party and then we will sync two of the SBs (kitchen and lounge) to provide a seamless listening environment, I see no point in syncing the bedroom SB or the office SB during a party...doesn't make sense. Re: [slim] How to get Artwork?
geoh, unfortunately the way itunes stores the artwork is AFAIK not supported by anything other than itunes. To get artwork visible use MP3tag (if you are running a PC) and have it download artwork as folder.jpg to each separate album folder. SqueezeCenter can then read these folder.jpg files. Alternatively copy and paste each of the images from itunes into the directories manually they will be saved as image.bmp so will need to add that name to Squeezecenter, this could be very laborious depending on how many albums you have. Erland, Many thanks for the advice...however I am using the comments tag for information about the artist/album/piece so would prefer to use custom scan. I shall persevere with it. -- MuckleEck Alasdair 3 SB3s - Linn - Acoustat - AudioEngine 2 - Cambridge Audio 640R - Mordaunt Short MuckleEck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11301 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43917 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Wife's music accessible easily and quickly??
I am in a similar, but reverse, situation in that I don't want to trawl through the 100s of CDs belonging to the kids to get to mine. I have setup a custom DB tag in each FLAC file using MP3Tag but am struggling to get Erland's plug in to work!...I think it is just patience and time to read the FAQ...etc...but this sounds as though it would work for you and your wife -- MuckleEck Alasdair 3 SB3s - Linn - Acoustat - AudioEngine 2 - Cambridge Audio 640R - Mordaunt Short MuckleEck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11301 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43917 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

In my case I set it low to stop my young kids setting the volume too high! and for that I am glad it is on the back :-) -- MuckleEck Alasdair 3 SB3s - Linn - Acoustat - AudioEngine 2 - Cambridge Audio 640R - Mordaunt Short MuckleEck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11301 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40455 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

If they have no idea then that is Logitechs fault for not keeping their suppliers informed. I found your reply, before the edit, rather arrogant and unnecessary from a Logitech employee. Linn Records (www.linnrecords.co.uk) have a limited range of classical music as well as Jazz and Scottish for sale online and they include FLAC lossless as an option. They also have some CD Master quality downloads that are even better but unsure if the Squeezebox will play them. They are 96khz recordings. -- MuckleEck Alasdair 3 SB3s - Linn - Acoustat - AudioEngine 2 - Cambridge Audio 640R - Mordaunt Short MuckleEck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11301 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43671 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
