Re: [slim] [Announce] Squeezebox on iPad: SqueezePad 1.6.0 released

2010-12-04 Thread panos_k75

Hi Stefan
Small request if possible. I noticed that the cover art gets cached
only if u browse to the relevant album. So initially all albums appear
with no cover art, unless u browse to them. Would it be possible to
have a cache mechanism that would run on the background and cache cover
art even prior to me browsing to an album? In that way i will always
have cover art on my menus right from the start.
Thx,
P.

Users that don't know what an IP address is or forgot to enable their
wireless shouldn't be buying logitech products to begin with. Sonos is
better suited for them.

- Yummy Yummy - go for the new looks and delay playlist management

- Please do playlist management first and then go for the new look
- I like the old style - please give us more new feature and leave
  the looks

why people insist on the small cover browse options? Is there a
performance reason? I would imagine with the iPad's large screen estate
difference browsing experiences would crop out, but all current
implementations remind me existing iphone GUIs.

[slim] random music stops

2009-07-11 Thread panos_k75

Hi,

has anyone experienced random music stops while a playlist is playing?
I keep experiencing these lately...I use iPeng for remote control and

logs. This is very weird. Could iPeng cause this?

Any ideas?

Re: [slim] Thread on Sonos board

2009-07-01 Thread panos_k75

my 2 cents...I don't own Sonos but my friend does...money wasn't an
issue. The main issue that kept me away from purchasing a Sonos is the
luck of features and especially the ability to create clever mixes (see
MusicIP or Genius). Having said that, there have been times that I
wanted to throw my SC system out of the window and I will admit that
there have been many occasions when I was so close in going to
Sonos...If they supported MusicIP or Genius or something similar I would
be very tempted. You are right it's all about Music in the end, but
sometimes the frustration can take the best out of me.

I suffer from the same problem...Any fiddling with the playlist will
eventually result in un-expected behavior and even crash. In fact iPeng
crashes on me very often when I fiddle around with my music...I am
trying to find a pattern but so far it seems quite random to me.

Also sometimes the album cover on the now playing screen won't display.
Just a blank screen although SC displays it fine. there are some other
bits and pieces which I will post when I get back to my system.

[slim] Controller cannot connect to SqueezeNetwork

times my controller will complain that it can't connect to

previous state was connected to SC and the server was switch off so
both controller and player will display the "blue" wireless icon. When
I try to connect to SqueezeNetwork i get the "can't connect" error. If
I reset the controller and the player everything is back to normal.
This is really frustrating. Any ideas? Please don't suggest there is
something wrong with my network.

I have been on 2.2 for quite a while. It wasn't that bad before.Would
the fact that some of my players are based on SqueezeSlave has anything
to do with it?

When I try to control one of my soft-players sometimes it will take 3

i completely agree with you. Graphics on the Sonos are on completely
different level. Functionality wise as well the Sonos remote is also
very good.

Re: [slim] iPeng Application 1.0 now on the App Store

2008-12-16 Thread panos_k75

when I do search I get no indication that the search is busy. All i get
is blank screen and then suddenly I get the results, so it's impossible
to tell whether the search is ongoing or it's finished with no results.

Also, when the search is finished and I get my results, I can't click
on one of the album covers to play or add it on my current playlist,
like I can when I browse my library normally. Could you please address
those?

Thanks

Ok, I accept that. It's just that track titles overlap with this quick
browse bar and sometimes it gets messy, especially with long track
titles. Could please make the player playlist view exactly the same
like when browsing for albums (with cover art) (exactly like the SBC).
That screen is much better visually and practically, as currently I
find it very hard to visualize what is next on my queue due to the fact
that I have many compilation albums. Or at least give us this option.
Thanks.

Yes. that's one...Sorry I just don't see the point of looking what is
the 300th track on my list from the one currently playing. When I

i am experiencing crashes with 1.03 as well...haven't flushed my cache

I also noticed you changed the playlist view, with adding a vertical
bar on the right hand side of the screen for quick browsing. I
personally don't like this. It makes the screen busy and i don't think
a quick browse bar is necessary.

On the pluses, performance seems better than 1.0. Keep up the good
work.

Can we have the option of a background image?

Also are you planning to re-organise the current playlist view? If yes,
why don't you implement it just like the ipod? i.e. press a button, the

Re: [slim] iPeng Application 1.0 now on the App Store

2008-11-25 Thread panos_k75

my comments:

Very good first attempt. It needs to be polished a little though:

1. Browsing Genres>[genre]>All Albums makes iPeng complain that it
can't connect to my server.

2. It would be nice if text was scrolling to display long album
names/artists...etc

3. Not sure I like the graphics of the "now playing screen". Would
prefer something similar to the Sonos remote.

4. I think the graphics need to be polished a little, especially on the
playlist view. Long track names overlap with the vertical line, the
delete icon doesnt seem to align with the horizontal lines, etc...just
a little polishing

5. Would be nice if the playlist view displayed the cover art as well.

Very good work! I hope this continues to develop and becomes even
better. Apart from the functionality that everybody is asking for, a
little on polish on the graphics would be a plush for me.

Looking forward to your updates.

P.

Player Statistics : Bedroom
Help > Server & Network Health > Player Statistics

The server is currently collecting performance statistics for this
player.

You may set warning thresholds for each measurement. Events which
exceed this threshold will be logged to a log file. The log is stored
at: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\SqueezeCenter\Logs\perfmon.log
Signal Strength
This graph shows the strength of the wireless signal received by your
player. Higher signal strength is better. The player reports signal
strength while it is playing.

Warning Thresholds : Low High
Buffer Fullness
This graph shows the fill of the player's buffer. Higher buffer
fullness is better. Note the buffer is only filled while the player is
playing tracks.

Squeezebox1 uses a small buffer and it is expected to stay full while
playing. If this value drops to 0 it will result in audio dropouts.
This is likely to be due to network problems.

Squeezebox2/3 uses a large buffer. This drains to 0 at the end of each
track and then refills for the next track. You should only be concerned
if the buffer fill is not high for the majority of the time a track is
playing.

Playing remote streams can lead to low buffer fill as the player needs
to wait for data from the remote server. This is not a cause for
concern.

This graph shows the number of messages queued up to send to the player
over the control connection. A measurement is taken every time a new
message is sent to the player. Values above 1-2 indicate potential
network congestion or that the player has become disconnected.

Re: [slim] Dissapointed - 7.2.1

2008-10-26 Thread panos_k75

this is what i am getting:

Performance Summary : Bedroom

Please queue up several tracks to play on this player and start them
playing. Then press the Reset link below to clear the statistics and
update this display.

Reset
Summary

Control Connection : OK
Streaming Connection : OK
Signal Strength: OK
Buffer Fullness: Low
Server Response Time : Occasional Poor Response

Warnings

The playback buffer for this player is occasionally falling lower than
ideal. This is a Squeezebox2/3 and so the buffer fullness is expected
to drop at the end of each track. You may see this warning if you are
playing lots of short tracks. If you are hearing audio dropouts, please
check your network signal strength.

Your server response time is occasionally longer than desired. This may
cause audio dropouts, especially on Slimp3 and Squeezebox1 players. It
may be due to background load on your server or a SqueezeCenter task
taking longer than normal

I tried all suggestions...Unfortunately no improvement...I disabled all
installed plugins but the behavior is still the same...For instance,
there is a noticeable lag between the moment I press play till the
moment I hear sound on my duet.

In more detail when I press play on the controller it displays that the
corresponding song is being played straight away and the track timer
starts counting, however I have no sound for the first 10 or so
seconds. After this the track starts and the current track time on the
controller resets back to 00:00 and starts counting again, this time in
sync with the sound...I never had issues like this prior to my 7.2.1
upgrade. Nothing has been changed on my server configuration.

[slim] Dissapointed - 7.2.1

2008-10-24 Thread panos_k75

I was running 7.2 and everything was fine...apart from the occasional
hickups and crashes. Now upgraded to 7.2.1 and my system is completely
unstable. The controller keeps lagging. I press pause and it takes 2-3
seconds for my duet to respond. On some flac files I am having audio
drops which eventually are crashing the duet and the only way to resume
service is by reloading it. Covers take ages to appear on controller.
Unpleasant experience really. Very dissapointed especially as new
software releases are meant to be upgrades. This is not the experience
I am having...7.2.1 has created more problems for me than solved.

Re: [slim] MusicIP moods and SC7.2

if I save my moods as MusicIP playlists and then generate a mix sourced
by a playlist, would that have the same effect? any ideas?

[slim] MusicIP moods and SC7.2

2008-09-06 Thread panos_k75

I run the MIP headless service and I have created a new mood. I can't
get this mood appear on SC though. I did a clear and re-scan on the
databases but nothing. I am on SC7.2. Any ideas? Is this supported? and
if yes where is the documentation for it? Thanks.
