Re: [slim] Mip: R.i.p?
I was able to get the GUI (MusicIP Mixer) working again after i created a localhost (127.0.0.1) entry for music.predixis.com in my W7 hosts file. After scanning the songs, the fingerprint is going to be stored in the files and the headless version (which is used as backend for my squeeze stuff) is then able to pick up the imprinted tracks. I was not able to get genpuid running again using this method. schiegl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6654 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100790 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

All my music is located on a single server and is accessible through different devices BUT ONLY if there's a stable connection to the central SBS (same applies to MySB). Re: [slim] Can I use the Controller and classic remote with SB3 interchangeably?
Rick, yes you can - but keep in mind there are some(*) tasks you'll require the classic remote. I sometimes use all three control channels (web, remote SBC) almost simultaneously without problems. Most single-click actions (pause, play, next, prev, etc.) have _no_ timing problem and are propagated throughout the system immediately. A few other actions (seeking through a song, loading a new playlist) executed on the WebUI or the classic remote will take a few seconds until the controller is been updated with this information. (*). e.g. firmware upgrades of the SB3 require presshold brightness (unless you configured it to do auto upgrades) and some functions and plugins (like the lazysearch you mentioned) are available through the Player-UI only and therefore need the classic remote for control. kind regards, Markus -- schiegl schiegl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6654 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56175 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

hmm...when i played with downsampling i set player.source=debug (as you did already) and copied the command which eventually will be executed to the windows command line: (a guess, you need to find this string in your logfile) Code: C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~1\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\flac.exe -dcs -- E:\CAROLK~1\NICEWO~1\01-NIC~1.FLA | C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~1\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\sox.exe -t wav - -t flac - rate 44100 sample.flac This should create a file sample.flac in your current working directory. I verified this file in foobar that it plays ok and then used the found string in convert.conf. Maybe this command will show why downsampling doesn't work on your side yet. Hi, would this pseudo function meet all (listed) requirements? Seb, just to get your idea: When do you want to use the play/add keys? On the previously created Mix:-playlist (presshold the play key on the remote, Create MusicIP Mix on the controller or the M-Icon in the webinterface) or somewhere before? It is my understanding we have two different issues - playing a mix requires two actions (create mix + play/add mix) - the seed-song should not be part of the mix if it's already playing Am i wrong? Re: [slim] MusicIP implementation - bit odd?
Hi, I basically use two ways to create MIP mixes: 1.) I'm listening to a track and want more of this = create MIP mix 2.) I'm either browsing the current playlist or generally surfing through my library when i find a track/album i want to hear/use as starting point = create a MIP mix In the first case i agree that it's annoying to hear the same track again, but in my other use case this isn't true and i don't want to miss the start. I'd also like to see the mix before it's added to the playlist, just to be sure it meets my taste. If it doesn't i create another mix... I mainly use the Webinterface/Controller for the initial listening setup so it's easier to look ahead (use case 2). When using the Player UI only, i'm reverting to the first approach... kind regards, Markus -- schiegl schiegl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6654 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51775 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

The album adjustment isn't used at all in mixes, is it? Thanks! This piece of code from ReplayGain.pm is responsible for smartgain (and similar applies to smart-crossfade) Code: if (defined $album-replay_gain() ($class-trackAlbumMatch($client, -1) || $class-trackAlbumMatch($client, 1))) { return $album-replay_gain(); } return $track-replay_gain(); 1. Check if album-rg is set, if not use track-gain. Therefore always use album-rg if you intend to use smartgain. Hi, thanks! i tried this one (LameTag) too, unfortunately without success. Those CBR-mp3's don't have lame-tags at all - i probably have encoded them in the pre-lame-days with something like bladeenc. The tool which finally was able to repair those tracks was 'MP3 repacker' (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=32379) and it's GUI 'WinMP3Packer' (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=40780hl=). It even preserved all ID3-Tags. the steps i've done to get rid of these messages: - disable mip for the time (to reduce the scanning time) - set scan, scan.import scan.scanner to debug - perform a full scan and identify those mp3 tracks - use WinMP3Packer with default-options to re-package those tracks - sometimes converts CBR to VBR (!!! this overwrites the source !!! make a backup before and somehow save/note the timestamp if you'd later want to restore it) - enable MIP disable debug log for scanner perform another full-scan - no more warnings kind regards, Markus -- schiegl schiegl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6654 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48548 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] SSH-tunnel on the Squeezebox Controller?
knutm;288115 Wrote: Yes, I see it now. The build script doesn't build the dbclient by default, for that you must enter dbclient along with dropbear and scp on line 165 in 'this Makefile' (http://svn.slimdevices.com/repos/jive/trunk/squeezeos/src/system/Makefile). Well, a custom build shouldn't be that difficult. Or convince the community to build it by default :) okay, building and running dbclient was no problem at all. Re: [slim] Maxbitrate?
concerning FLAC 24bit/96Khz files: I have a few ones which show these problems even with replay gain disabled and no screensaver at all. the only workaround i've found so far is transcoding on the server side to flac-compress level 0 to relieve the transporter CPU. convert.conf: Code: #flc flc * * # - flc flc * * [flac] -dcs --skip=$START$ --until=$END$ -- $FILE$ | [flac] -cs --lax --totally-silent --compression-level-0 - unfortunately this disables fast forward/reward (which i don't care) but also seek support using the progress bar on the webinterface. regards, Markus -- schiegl schiegl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6654 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40674 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

panter;170140 Wrote: Any idee whats happens?? If if looses contact with server the music should have stopped too? Because of the big internal buffer the music plays until the end of the track (or an empty buffer - more likely to happen with flac than with mp3). It makes no difference to the SB if its on or off, it keeps asking the server what to do (dim display, show date screensaver, play music, etc.) The loss of control (pause, skip, ...) and an empty display are the first things you'll notice when the connection is lost. some new wlan in the neighborhood? a new dect phone? you could try the server network health to gather more statistics. -- schiegl schiegl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6654 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31633 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
