Meadowbrook attendees
Hi everyone: I have tickets for the fifth row and I can't WAIT! Anyone going to the show, would you like to get together beforehand? Let me know, and let's put something together. Debbie in NH.
Paging Laurie Stevens
Hi everyone! Sorry to do this, but could Laurie Stevens contact me off-list? The email address you gave me didn't work. Thanks, Debbie.
Meadowbrook ticket info
Hi Glenn and everyone: The show date is August 19 (Sunday) at Meadowbrook Performing Arts Center in Gilford, New Hampshire, which is right near Lake Winnepesaukee. It's a beautiful area and a very small venue. Ticket prices are $32.50 through $39.50. Tickets will be on sale to the general public this Saturday at 10am on the Meadowbrook website (meadowbrook.net). Inner Circle tickets went on sale yesterday. You'll have to forgive me--I was so excited when I got the email from Meadowbrook that I forgot to tell you all to scroll down from my message, as there is a good write up there about the Doobies. I know I speak for many of us here when I say that I am very excited about the Doobies coming to the very beautiful state of New Hampshire. A lot of work was done by members of this listserv to bring them here and it is very much appreciated. Thank you to the people who responded when I put the word out about this venue. I'm looking forward to seeing many of you there. Two concerts in one summer--I AM READY! Debbie in NH.
Re: And......How about those TEXAS reviews?
Hi all: I wasn't at the Texas show, but the word I got from some GFR fans is that the Doobies were the best part of the whole show and blew everybody off the stage. I know, it's brief, but I thought I would pass it on. Debbie in NH.
The River
Hi all: I will be at The River at 9:00 if anyone would like to join in. Debbie in NH.
Re: Non-Doobie
Happy Nurse's Day to Gina, Ann, Anne, Susan, Janet, and any others on the list who are nurses. Let's give these fine people (and other nurses we know) a pat on the back for their hard work and dedication. Debbie in NH.
Re: Introducing the newest Doobie Lady...
Scott: She is absolutely GORGEOUS! You are a very lucky man. Thanks for sharing. Debbie.
Boston bound on July 14--WOHOOOOOO!!!!!
Hi Gang: Just got my tickets for the Doobs Boston show and I am READY!!! I Wanna (and I'm gonna) Hear Motorcycles! Debbie in NH.
The River
Hi all: I won't be around at 9 tonight as I will be out of town at a concert and won't have computer access, but feel free to gather at The River at 9 EDT. I will be around next week for sure. Debbie in (VERY hot) NH.
The River
Hi all: I won't be hosting between 9-10 tonight but please feel free to gather at The River tonight at 9 EDT. If I get in early enough, I'll pop in. Debbie in NH.
Re: Doobie Women
Hey everybody! How about "he came from somewhere back in HER long ago" from What a Fool Believes? Or "lovely LADIES with almond eyes" in Chinatown? How about "Need a LADY" in Need a Lady? Or "SHE said..Do you wanna take a ride" in Rio? And "SHE was born with it in her soul, lord SHE knows how to rock n' Roll" from Sweet Maxine? I can think of more, but I'll give somebody else a chance! Great topic, Madam Gina! Debbie in a VERY windy NH.
Re: Doobies Sibling Rivalry
I concur with Holly. Sibling Rivalry is one of my all-time favorites, too, and there are some songs on here that will be classics. Debbie in NH.
The River
Hi Everyone: I expect to be at The River between 9 and 10 tonight if anyone would like to stop by. Debbie in NH
Re: DOOBIE DOUBLE BILLS
Hi everybody: Derek Trucks is Butch Trucks' (drummer for the Allman Brothers) nephew. I saw him play in the Allman Brothers in '99 and he was fabulous. Debbie in NH.
Re: DOOBIE DOUBLE BILLS
I saw Foreigner in 94 also, but also saw two others which really stand out in the 70's. Eddie Money opened for them the first time I saw them in '78, and Night (reformed Manfred Mann's Earth Band) in '79. Anyone else? Debbie in NH with MORE snow comin!
The River
Hi all: I will be hosting again tomorrow night between 9-10 for us East Coasters who go to bed early and anyone else who wishes to join us. If I understand correctly (somebody tell me if I'm wrong), NBCi's website will be closing down, at least that's what I read earlier this week. If this is the case, and if we still want the chat, we will have to move it to another site. Any ideas? Come and join us tomorrow night! Debbie in NH.
Re: Ironic, isn't it
Yep, Chris, I would do the very same thing with that patch on the jacket if it was me. Debbie in NH.
Reminder: The River at 9:00 tonight
Hi all: Just a reminder that we will be gathering at The River at 9:00 tonight. This will give us East Coasters a chance to get an early start. As always, you West Coasters are welcome to join us if any of you are around at that time. I look forward to seeing you all there. Debbie in NH.
Re: Doobies in Joe Dirt?
Hi George: Yep, saw the same ad for Joe Dirt and they ARE using Doobies music in it. Debbie in no-longer-completely-snow-covered NH.
Re: add another pint here
Good job, Pete and Jim! Laurin, what are we up to on that so far? Debbie.
Calling all East Coasters!
Hi all: How about we open up the chatroom a bit earlier on Thursday nights, say at 9:00? This will get us together a little earlier. I am willing to host the earlier time slot. Let me know what you think or if you have other ideas. Debbie in a snow covered (again-ARGGH!) NH.
Fwd: Hall of Shame
As long as we're on the subject of the RRHOF, here is a letter that someone on the Grand Funk Railroad received from a former board member. Now we know what they do with the petitions. Thank you for your insightful article on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I am a veteran music journalist who spent two years on the Hall's nominating committee and saw from the inside some of the politics at work. "I saw how artists were sometimes chosen for nomination because of their affiliations with the directors of the Hall and others were shot down without so much as a moment of consideration simply because some people in that room didn't like them personally or because an artist had bad blood with someone calling the shots. "At one point Suzan Evans lamented the choices being made because there weren't enough big names that would sell tickets to the dinner. That was quickly remedied by dropping one of the doo-wop groups being considered in favor of a 'name' artist. "During my second year on the committee, I received a petition signed by 5000 fans of the Moody Blues requesting that the group be considered for nomination. Personally I am not much of a fan, and neither, apparently, was anyone else on the committee (at least no one who would admit it). Still, I felt they were a legitimate contender for the nomination and that it was my duty to present the petition since so many people had taken a lot of time to put it together. I plunked it down on the conference table to a great roar of laughter from the assembled bigshots. "Jon Landau, Springsteen's manager, asked me if I personally was a fan of theirs. 'Not really,' I said. 'End of discussion,' he said. "On the other hand, I saw how Atlantic Records artists were routinely placed into nomination with no discussion at all, due to the large concentration of Atlantic executives on the committee. I saw how so-called critical favorites were placed into nomination while artists that were massively popular in their time were brushed off. I saw how certain pioneering artists of the 50s and early 60s were shunned because there needed to be more name power on the list, resulting in 70s superstars getting in before the people who made it possible for them. Some of those pioneers still aren't in today - but Queen is. "I was finally kicked off the committee after writing a guest editorial for Billboard in which I criticized the Hall for its insider ways. "Almost ten years later nothing has changed." --- Headers Return-Path: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Received: from rly-yh05.mx.aol.com (rly-yh05.mail.aol.com [172.18.147.37]) by air-yh05.mail.aol.com (v77_r1.21) with ESMTP; Fri, 23 Mar 2001 10:26:02 -0500 Received: from topquark.roadkill.com (topquark.roadkill.com [206.185.0.25]) by rly-yh05.mx.aol.com (v77_r1.21) with ESMTP; Fri, 23 Mar 2001 10:25:37 1900 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by topquark.roadkill.com (8.9.3/8.9.3/Debian 8.9.3-21) id JAA01023 for grand-funk-arfarf; Fri, 23 Mar 2001 09:07:48 -0600 Received: from [132.159.119.2] (sdclmail.sdcl.lee.army.mil [155.154.2.220]) by topquark.roadkill.com (8.9.3/8.9.3/Debian 8.9.3-21) with SMTP id JAA01011 for [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Fri, 23 Mar 2001 09:07:42 -0600 X-Authentication-Warning: topquark.roadkill.com: Host sdclmail.sdcl.lee.army.mil [155.154.2.220] claimed to be [132.159.119.2] Received: from [155.154.2.220] by [132.159.119.2] via smtpd (for [206.185.0.25 I just read this article on Fox New's web site, http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/fox411/index.sml and thought you might find this excerpt interesting. Correction
The letter in my previous post was not received by a list member of Grand Funk, but was received by Fox News. Someone from Grand Funk's list had found it. Either way, I think it speaks for itself. Debbie.

Who's who in the Doobie Brothers Fan Club
Hi all: Well, lessee, where do I start--my name is Debbie Wunsch. The day I blow out my birthday candles is January 17, and I also celebrated the 10th anniversary of my 29th birthday this year. My husband Greg (whom I married in November of 1996) and I live in southern New Hampshire (since July of 1999). I am taking a sabbatical from a 16-year insurance career to do some writing, take care of our house and our cat, Necco, who is as close to a child as we have right now. She found us in October of 2000. In amongst all this craziness, I find time to indulge my love of music (both live and recorded), our friends and family, reading, cooking, and gardening. I have been a fan of the Doobie Brothers since I was ten years old (that's 29 years, but who's counting) and my older brother brought The Captain and Me album home and would listen to it on his stereo at night before he went to sleep. I saw my first Doobies concert at the Springfield Civic Center in Springfield, Mass., in 1978. I was in the tenth row on the floor, and Eddie Money opened. I saw them again in 1979, 1993, 1997, 1998, and 1999. A lifelong dream came true for me in 1997 and 1998, when I was able to meet the Doobies after their shows. I look forward to the Fleet Center show in Boston in July. The oldest item I have (other than the albums) is a T-shirt from the 1979 tour. I look forward to meeting the wonderful friends I have made over the past two and a half years on this list, as well as the new people. Thanks for letting me ramble. A proud New Hampshire Doobie sister, Debbie Wunsch.
Welcome, Robin!
Hi Robin: Welcome to our group! We have a lot of fun here, and hope you will enjoy it, too. Again, welcome, and enjoy the ride. Debbie in snow covered NH.
Nice job on the cards, JR!
Thank you so much to our brother John Rollason for the DBFC business cards. I got mine last week, and they really look great! Nice job. If you haven't got yours yet, get them before they're gone. Thanks again, John. Debbie in snow-covered NH.
Doobie Brothers BTM rebroadcast alert
Hi all: The VH1 schedule shows the Doobie Brothers Behind the Music show tomorrow night (March 12) at 8:00 PM Eastern time. For those who missed it the first time around, I think just about everyone on this list can attest to the fact that the show is very good. Also a good chance to tape it if you didn't do that the first time around, or have worn out your original copy. Whichever of the above categories you are in, enjoy it. Debbie in NH.
Re: Favorite BTM line...
Holly: What you said. My husband and I cracked up on that one. Debbie in NH.
Re: Fw: Behind the Music Credits...
Scott: The Doobie Brothers (and us) on the VH1 Fan Club show. Excellent idea. Let's start emailing VH1 again, people! Debbie in NH.
Re: BTM
Laurin: Don't be too sure that the Doobies BTM will be worn out in a couple of weeks. I'll bet it shows up in the marathons VH1 does, and I'll also bet attendance will go up at shows this year and sales of their albums will "spike." This always happens after someone is profiled on that show, and the impact is long-lasting. I'm sure there's more than one person who either didn't know the Doobies were still around or was a younger person not familiar with their music until yesterday and last night. Those people are out today (or will be this week) looking for the new CD, or others, or looking to go to a Doobies show. I'm not saying BTM is the show to end all shows about the music business, but it is a powerful vehicle. As for your biography, yes, we want to read it! Have a wonderful Monday. Debbie in NH.
Doobies Behind the Music
Hi all: I have seen it and it is great. I enjoyed seeing all the video clips from the early days of the group and of course hearing the stories that were told by everyone and of COURSE the music that played throughout the show. I, too, hope you all enjoy it--I certainly did. Debbie in NH.
Behind the Music
Hi: I just wanted to write and say good job, guys! Wonderful show! Having just gotten a vivid picture what you all have been through, both personally and professionally, I just wanted to tell you all once again THANK YOU so very much. Thank you for all the great music and for sharing your lives with us. I appreciated you a lot before, but I do even more so now. Thank you again, and we'll see you this summer. ^5's and hugs, Debbie in NH.
Happy Birthday Holly!!
Happy Birthday, Doobie sister Holly! Do something nice for yourself today and enjoy your day. May you have many more! Debbie in NH.
Re: Doobie VH-1 Preview
Miles, you are so right. I, too, saw the previews for the Doobs Behind the Music during the show on Journey, and I am psyched. This particular episode is really gonna be good--as ALL the Behind the Music shows have been in the past. Less than seven days to go and counting. Debbie in NH.
Off topic: Dale Earnhardt
I am not a huge fan of NASCAR, that is to say that I don't follow it as a rule. But, like a lot of other people, I have always read about it and seen the occasional race on television. The world of NASCAR auto racing suffered a huge loss today. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and fans of Dale Earnhardt. May God give them strength in the days ahead. Debbie in NH.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Keith!
To Keith: Happy Birthday to you! May you have many more! Debbie in NH.
One week--Yahooo!
Hi all: One week, seven hours, and 35 minutes (Eastern Standard Time) until the premier of the Doobie Brothers Behind the Music! I'm not excited or anything, am I? My VCR and popcorn are at the ready! Debbie in a VERY cold NH.
Hello, Doobie chatmates!
Hi all: Sorry to do this through the list, but I just wanted to let those of you in the chat know I made good on my promise to have a margarita for you at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston this evening. And it was pretty darned good, too! I also hit the merchandise booth, and came across a CD with the title Rockin Down the Highway. Well, of COURSE the first song on the CD was none other than that one. How's THAT for cool? Does anyone on the list know if the Doobies have any displays in any of the Hard Rock Cafes anywhere? Or if not, any plans to? I was just curious. Nine days and counting until Behind the Music. Woohooo! Debbie in NH.
Behind the Music schedule for Feb 25
Hi Everyone: From the VH1 website, the following times are Eastern Standard for the Doobie Brothers show: 11:00 AM, 9:00 PM 11:00 PM. Hope this helps with any party plans. I can't wait! Debbie in NH.

OK, here's my vote for concert songs I want to hear: The Captain Me/Ukiah, and Daughters of the Sea. Debbie in NH.
My .02 on list issues
Hi all: I, too, find Gina's posts entertaining, fun, imaginative, and to be just what the Doctor ordered. And for the sake of this list, I hope she doesn't bail on us, because she has been a very bright spot on it. What good is life (or this list) if we can't laugh, joke, daydream, and have some fun? Remember the rules of this list, as our fearless leader, Laurin, has stated in the past: 1. It's all about the Doobies. 2. When in doubt, consult Rule #1. WHATEVER is posted, whether we are having fun, promoting the music, or giving a concert review, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DOOBIES. NOW--I, too, will apply per Gina's suggestion. I can do cooking and catering and am able to feed up to 100 people. Anyone care to join me in the kitchen? Let's move forward and remember that while we're all here for the same reason (the Doobie Brothers), it's fun and not drudgery. See you in Chat tonight. 'Nuff said. Debbie in NH.

Hey Doobs: OK OK OK--I'm in on this blood donor thing, too. Like Ed, it will be the end of the month, but I'm in, too. Been about 20 years or so since I last donated, so it's time to do so again. C'mon people. If I can do it, you can, too. Debbie in NH.

Re: Our friend, Glenn Maloy, could use some prayers
You sure are right about that, Steve, and the more the better. Count me in. Debbie in NH.
Re: Thank You to all of you!
Hi Glenn: Yep, I would say you could use a few extra doses of the Doobs live in concert to help you through. I have no problem with that whatsoever. Debbie in NH.
Re: I'm baaaaaaack!!!
Glen: Welcome back! Your dog is your guardian angel, that's for sure. Best wishes for your continued recovery and Happy 2001 and Happy New Millennium. Again, welcome back. Debbie in NH.
Happy Holidays everyone!
Happy Holidays to everyone. Savor the wonder of the season. Doobster, you will be in our thoughts and prayers on December 28. All the best to you. Debbie Greg in NH.
Re: A Moment of Remembrance
I'll second that, Gina. Debbie in NH.
Re: Behind the Music
David and everyone: True on the VH1 Behind the Music stories sometimes being long on scandal and short on good deeds, but BTM can also introduce a whole lot of people to the Doobies' music who weren't familiar with it before and in addition this can generate some good publicity. I personally think that overall BTM is an excellent show. I have learned a lot about music of some groups out there that I didn't know anything about before. BTM also has the curiosity factor--if you hear some music that you like, investigate the individual or band further on your own after seeing the show. I still say let's give ourselves a collective pat on the back--we bugged VH1 for a good long time to get this to happen, and now let's see what VH1 comes up with. I, for one, am eager to see it. My popcorn and VCR are ready. Debbie in NH.
Re: Scooters List of the Day c/o Angl
Happy Birthday Scooter! And may you have many, many more! There's only one Scooter like ours, and we got him! Enjoy our day. Debbie in NH.
Re: THE DOOBIES ON VH1 BEHIND THE MUSIC
Yahooo!! FINALLY, VH1 got the message. Can't wait to see THIS one! I think we should all give ourselves a collective pat on the back. Debbie.
Re: Can't Stand To Lose
Luke: My heartfelt condolences on the passing of your mother. I can't imagine how you must feel. I was very sorry to hear about it. I had a miscarriage recently, and it's amazing what Don't Be Afraid and People Got To Love Again have done to get me through. I hope your healing continues. Again, my condolences. Debbie in NH.
Re: St. Paul show preview
I third that motion--if ANYBODY went to any of these shows, please share. I, too, am in DIRE need of a Doobies fix! Still weathering a Doobie drought on the East Coast, Debbie in NH.
Re: 20 Years Ago Today
I remember where I was when I heard that this had happened like it was yesterday. God bless you, John Lennon. You are missed but your music lives on. Debbie in NH.
Re: Support for a Doobie Friend...
To my good friend Peter Dubin: The very best of luck with your operation. My thoughts and prayers are with you now and in the days to come. Take good care of yourself, and here's hoping for your speedy recovery. Hugs, Debbie in NH.
Remember our Veterans
Hi all: With Veterans Day upon us, it's time to remember our veterans and the sacrifices they have made (and continue to make) to keep us free. To all veterans: thank you for what you have done. And thank you for our freedom. Sincerely, Debbie in NH.
A plug for the Doobies

AHHHHHH!!!!! I forgot!
But I had a good excuse as to WHY. I was in the grocery store last night bending over to get something off a shelf and when I straightened back up, POP went my knee joint--torn tendons. First thing this morning, I was at the doctor's office for x-rays and a knee brace. No driving or strenuous activities for at least a week--there goes my morning walk with the Doobs in the Discman! If anyone could take pity on me and send me a copy of their cassette, I would be ever so grateful. Hi all: I FINALLY got my CD today! And I am now living proof that a person can dance up AND down the stairs without falling on their butt, and I can also do housework and bust a few moves at the same time (watch out, Gina--I may catch up to you!). I love it--ALL of it. Every song is unique and special. Those of you who haven't got yours yet--hang in there, it's worth the wait. High fives and hugs to the Doobie Brothers. Re: Aftershow basic Fan Club Etiquette...
Thank you, Laurin. Both my mother AND my father taught me etiquette as well. I would like to say thank you to the Doobie Brothers for the great music, and for all that you have done for us, your fans. We are extremely lucky. Six days to go...
..until the new album comes out. I, for one, am really looking forward to it. I haven't heard any of it other than the two cuts I heard in concert last year in Uncasville, and I had trouble getting the cuts for the other CD. Six more days to go. RE: When You Wish Upon a Song
OK, I'm gonna combine some of my favorites here... How 'bout the Doobies teaming up with Mark Farner to do "Comfort Me?" Could be some incredible harmonies there. Or "The Weight," by The Band? Again, some great harmonies. Or "Pink Cadillac," with Tommy on lead vocals? Re: The Process of Condoobilation
Hooked up with Larry the Logger, collected 200 Doobies. Bought China Grove, and then sailed on down to Rio via Ukiah and South of the Border. From then on, made it all the way around Clear as the Driven Snow, all the while doin the South Bay Strut. Hey, this is fun!! Re: Relief at last
Glenn: Keeping an emergency line on your Visa for a Doobie Brothers concert fix? Sounds good to me! Lately, I have been in several places that I have been unsure of, having moved to New Hampshire a little over a year ago and exploring around, even WAAYY up in the Great North Woods, Moose Country. Funny thing, I hear a Doobie Brothers song every time, and everything always turns out fine. So, yes, I know what you're saying. Keep the faith and I hope the rest of your week goes better.
