Intermittently, when I lock the screen then unlock after a period of time the screen locks again by itself and I must unlock one more time. To date I haven't found a pattern for when this happens other than it seems to occur when the computer has been locked for several minutes. The computer has not been suspended. Steps: 1. Lock screen 2. Leave locked for several minutes 3. Login to unlock Screen refreshes to the desktop. Then all of a sudden the screen locks itself and I must re-enter my password and unlock the screen yet again. After that the system is stable and I can continue to work. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1306454] [NEW] Webapps don't show up in launcher
Public bug reported: It may be that my user session is screwed up and that this bug is invalid, but anyway I'd appreciate some hints on how to restore the functionality. I'm using firefox 28.0, and when I visit a webapp-supported website and I'm asked for integration and I accept it, nothing happens. For instance, when I visit gmail.com, no icon is added to the launcher. There is a gmail application in the dash, but I believe it's from an older version: in fact, when I start it, the command line being used is: webapp-container --app-id=Gmailmailgooglecom --webapp --enable-back- forward https://mail.google.com whis seems wrong (the --webapp argument is missing the webapp name). [Dx-packages] [Bug 652978] Re: Notify-OSD should be suppressed when using the sound menu
This issue cannot be solved in the sound menu. It is up to the applications to issue notification bubbles based on how the track was changed. Similarly for notify-osd: it doesn't have enough information to decide whether to show the bubble (namely, where the track-changed event was originally from). [Dx-packages] [Bug 1018215] Re: Unity launcher appearing interrupts GTK drag and drop operation (that's nowhere near the launcher)
I believe https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1060580 is related to this bug, since that bug report describes lag during the panel fade event. I've noticed it in 13.10 and 14.04, that there's a skip in an icon's position during dragging while the Unity panel initiates its fade animation. I'm almost tempted to link these bugs as duplicates, as I believe they're very closely related. At the time an icon skips in its path, in the same moment a drop event would be lost.. actually I will link them, pretty confident and I think it'd be fairly trivial for one of the Compiz/Unity guys to fix, seeing as it happens at such a specific time, and is very easily reproduced. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1018215 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1018215 I marked this as a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1018215 because I'm confident both issues (drag and drop events being lost on panel fade, and lag during panel fade) have the same cause. It's worth noting neither bugs are present when the Unity plugin is disabled from within CCSM. It's also worth noting that when re-enabling the Unity plugin from within CCSM on Ubuntu 13.10, the panel fade animation during dragging doesn't initate, and neither this lag nor the lost drop events occur. So I conclude this bug is precisely related to the fade animation of the unity panel. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1018215 Unity launcher appearing interrupts GTK drag and drop operation (that's nowhere near the launcher) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. As soon as this fade out process is complete, dragging the icon works flawlessly again. AFAIK, at the moment there is a following situation with the registration process: 1. Sound Menu. Every application registers itself after the first start (providing desktop-file location through the dbus). The only preregistered application is banshee. 2. Messages menu. Every application registers itself, placing file with desktop-file location into the /usr/share/indicators/messages/applications/ folder (or user folder). Default launcher list (evolution, empathy and gwibber) is hardcoded, rather than stored in gconf scheme, as indicator-sound does. In fact, I see no united way to deal with all that stuff. I suppose, that indicator interaction API should be similar in most cases, however in this case they are absolutely different. First, messages-applications have no dbus-method to register themselves. Yep, that's not fatal, it only makes maintainers should care about indicator creation. And second, sound-applications are unable to preregister themselves during the installation. Yep, this is conflicts with SoundMenu spec, but really why it's stated in spec? And why it's different from Messages policy? The main problem are applications who don't provide any GUI and are not intended to be started as usual applications, but as something like user-session daemons. In fact I can name only one such application :) — my mpd-sound-menu, in most cases user wants it to be started with his session to display MPD status. Your suggestions? [Dx-packages] [Bug 1018215] Re: Unity launcher appearing interrupts GTK drag and drop operation (that's nowhere near the launcher)
I just posted a comment on 1060580 about marking it as a duplicate of this bug. I also had this to add: On Ubuntu 13.10, it's worth noting that disabling the Unity plugin in CCSM eliminates bug 1060580 and this one. Interestingly, re-enabling the Unity plugin then trying drag and drop again, the panel fade animation doesn't occur, and neither do these two bugs. I'm pretty confident that narrows these bugs down to the panel fade animation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1306582] [NEW] not properly focusing multiple windows with mouse scroll
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 14.04 Unity Installed: 7.2.0+14.04.20140410.1-0ubuntu1 In 13.10 DOWN scroll with pointer hovering over multiple launcher icon would go through application's (1) windows and if there maxmized window of other app (2), only one instance of (1) will be displayed over (2). Scroll UP would bring all windows of (1) over (2) one-by-one. But now, in 14.04, scolling UP does exactly what DOWN works, just in another direction. Thats bad desing, because now is impossible to bring up multiple win. of app quickly. For instance, I have maximized and focused Firefox open, and 2 windows of Nautilus behind. Now, I want to copy files from one folder to other by drag-and-drop. - What WOULD I do is: 2 scrolls UP hovering Nautilus launcher icon, and do copying (because both windows are in front of Firefox). - What I NOW need to do. Re: [Dx-packages] [Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10
Nice idea, David but no luck for me. I start Eclipse with: GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/Raleigh/gtk-2.0/gtkrc ./adt-bundle-linux-x86_64-20131030/eclipse/eclipse -data . and do Ctrl-F, and click on Find, Find, Close. Eclipse aborts at g_object_get_qdata+0x18 I restart Eclipse, find the PID, and do: $ taskset -p 0x0001 32060 pid 32060's current affinity mask: f pid 32060's new affinity mask: 1 so, it appears to have worked. I execute the same sequence and Eclipse aborts at g_object_get_qdata+0x18. Also note: # An error report file with more information is saved as: # /home/derek/.../hs_err_pid32060.log so I had the right PID. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1302663] Re: Unity's Scale UI function problematic on some devices.
Hello. I am on my same laptop as I was above when I posted this bug report and after fully updating I noticed some differences. It seems as if the scaling feature must be taking my resolution into account so it doesn't scale the UI so far that I cannot revert back. Before, I could scale from 1 (default) to 4. Now I can only scale from 1 to 1.38. If the assumption I just mentioned (scaling takes resolution into account to prevent over-scaling to the point of no return), then this is a welcome addition. Nonetheless, I wanted to ask/mention it here for some more insight as I'm curious if my assumption is correct. Thank you for your time! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1302663 Title: Unity's Scale UI function problematic on some devices. Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I'm running a fully updated (as of 4/1/2014) install of Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit. This is on a Toshiba ultrabook with a mobile i5 processor and a 13.3 screen @ 1366x768. Earlier I was messing with the scale UI mode of the system settings display field. I set my UI scale to be maxed out at 4. Once done, windows were so large it was impossible to see. I couldn't even see any options within system settings besides two. Scrolling of course helped a bit but it was largely cumbersome. Once I went into the displays section to turn UI scaling back down to 1, I realized the function was far out of reach on my screen. I tried to hold down ALT and click to drag the window up beyond the top edge, but Unity crashed. In fact, every single time I hit the ALT key and clicked to drag, Unity crashed. Once Unity crashes 2 or 3 times, it doesn't come back without a hard power down and full startup. On the flip side, I plugged in an external monitor with a resolution of 1440x900. Once done, suddenly ALT worked and I had no crashes. I was able to drag the displays window up until I could see the UI scaling feature and turn it back down to 1. There's a few issues here that I feel need to be addressed, since there's little doubt that people will tinker with these functions. After all, these features are baked directly in to the interface as available parameters, but as notated above, settings (such as 4) render the system into a non-usable (and non-fixable without accessive tinkering) state. Is there a way higher UI scaling modes can be altered for easier scrolling or maneuvering of windows to reset it back if need be? Perhaps a work around could even be a reset to defaults button at the top bar? After all, with a UI scaling of 4, I could see the top of the window - just very little else. If I could have reset to default that would have alleviated any headaches. Thanks for all of your hard work! It's appreciated. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1179485 Title: Lost HID-control (keyboard, mouse) after unlock the lock screen while watching a video in fullscreen mode Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Hi, when I am watching a Flash video (Youtube) in fullscreen mode, after a while the lock screen appears. Then after unlocking the screen by successfully entering my user password the fullscreen video reappears normaly, but I have not control with the keyboard, mouse or power-button anymore, so I can't leave the fullscreen mode to exit the video or shutdown the computer. None if these keyboard actions are working: F11 or ESC to leave fullscreen, STRG+ALT+F1 to enter a text console or STRG+ALT+DEL to reboot. Also short pressing the power-button has no effect. The mouse pointer moves, but this takes no effect. Youtube-player overlay is not showing up and I can't click. So I have to shutdown the computer the hard way by pressing the power button 5 seconds. Right click on the screen gave the settings menu and all settings could be accessed, but still no launcher or panel. I downloaded 14.04LTS Beta2 and made a USB stick, did a complete install, formatting / but not the other paritions. When restarted again no panel, no launcher but access to the settings menuis available. I used to be able to start terminal by using ctrl+alt+t, but that does not work anymore. ICannot access anything on the perfectly good screen. Shutting down by pressing the startup knob and then restarting provides the sam eproblem. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1292970] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in ObjectPtr()
I was few weeks without a working internet. After downloading all updates, I've been unable to reproduce this bug. ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1292970 Title: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in ObjectPtr() Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I just installed all updates for Trusty from the past two weeks (over 300Mb to download, included updated Kernel and Unity). After restart, I got the usual LightDM log in screen. However, the desktop didn't load after logging in. Instead, I got a black screen with Apport's error message saying that there was an internal error in my system. Both Apport and Firefox that got opened by it are displayed on the screen without a window and its buttons/menus. This issue seems to be persistent after reboots. I managed to get to the desktop by logging to tty1 and then running the startx command. Applications' windows are now visible with menus but Unity still doesn't load. Also, the desktop is shown without the background image but all files/folders are visible and right clicking on the desktop works. This bug could be related to bug 1277382 (I got a new Apport window about an Xorg crash). Instead of restoring the window a new instance of nautilus is showing up. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a nautilus window by clicking on the launcher icon. 2. Navigate to a symlinked directory whose target is located on a different harddrive (for example: a symlink to a folder on a sd-card). 3. Minimize the nautilus window. 4. Try to bring up that window again by clicking the launcher icon. What happens: 1. A new instance (window) of nautilus is opened. 2. There's no obvious way to access the first window again. The only way is ALT+TAB. What schould happen: If a nautilus window is already open and minimized clicking the launcher icon should bring up that window.
