[Dx4win] GRABING SPLIT SPOTS
Have upgraded from DX4Win v.5 to v.6 and resetting everything. Down to the last challenge...I hope. When I grab a spot and there is a single (duplex) freq shown the radio responds, a little slow but it grabs the freq fine. The problem is that when there is a split freq shown, QSX, the radio wants to go to the QSX freq not the spotted freq. The radio will show split but the radios freq is on the QSX freq. This never happened with v.5. I am using a Ten-Tec Omni VI that was upgraded to + years ago. Using the Icom 735 setting @ 04 and 9600 baud. The poll rate is set at 20ms and the RTS high is checked. It seems that the program is having a little problem communicating with the radio. Any thoughts? [Dx4win] Checking Spots without adding to QSO window?
Is there any way to just click on a spot and have DX4WIN tune the radio to the spot without also adding information into the QSO Window? A double click on the spot both adds the spot to the QSO window and tunes the radio. But if you choose not to work the spot (or can't hear it), you must manually delete the QSO. This is both time consuming and pretty inefficient. Wouldn't it make sense to just be able to first check spots without having to always manually delete them from the window each time you go to a new spot? I am unaware though how to do this in the current version. Can it be done?
[Dx4win] Checking Spots without adding to QSO window?
Left-click on the spot, then right-click and select Listen. It's 2 mouse clicks (one left, one right), but better than 1 click then control-L. (For what it's worth, I wouldn't mind seeing something like double-right click to do this, or perhaps even using a click on the mouse wheel (if available). Better still (as long as I'm wishing), it'd be nice to make any of the right-click window functions assignable to a mouse click (left, middle, right). [Dx4win] Version 6.04 available
DX4WIN version 6.04 is available for download from our website. The website has not been updated yet, but you can download the installation program here: www.dx4win.com/files/dx4w604.exe Many thanks to the beta testers, but especially to Jim, AD1C. Not only is Jim a very thorough beta tester, we had over 110 email exchanges, but we all appreciate his efforts he puts in maintaining the country database. Thanks Jim! If you are disappointed that MMTTY is not in this version, be reassured it will be in the next release. It still needs some work and I did not want to delay this release any longer. 73, Paul Paul van der Eijk (KK4HD) [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.dx4win.com

[Dx4win] 6.0.4 update from 6.0.3
Does AD1C's upgrade guide apply for a 6.0.3 to 6.0.4 upgrade?
[Dx4win] MMTTY finally working with DX4Win
There has been a lot of discussion about the use of MMTTY with DX4Win After reading the discussions and thinking about it I've found an easy way to do it. My rig is a Yaesu Mark V with Rigblaster. The discussions focused on two methods: Either using a second computer and sending RS232 to the Packet port on DX4Win with a null modem or using Windows XP and some special software. The first is cumbersome and for the second - I stay far away from XP and use Windows 98SE when I have to use Windows at all. What I did was plug in a new USB to RS-232 converter to give a new port and make an interface with 1 transistor and a resistor that plugs into the PTT connector on my Rigblaster with a Y-connector. It could alternatively simply plug into any place on the PTT line. The interface is described in the MMTTY help file - it all fits in a 9 pin RS-232 plastic hood that plugs into the USB converter and out to an RCA plug. With this method either DX4Win or MMTTY can key the PTT line without interference because they are on totally separate ports. My new setup is: CW send:com1DTR This is a standard serial port TNC:com29600 baud Another standard serial port Yaesu rig control: com3USB adaptor RTTY PTTcom4USB adaptor using RTS The only thing that seems to be lacking is my log will show a USB contact which I have to manually change to RTTY after I enter the qso. It _may_ be possible to operate RTTY in Yaesu RTTY mode but for tonight RTTY is possible without using my KAM did not tune in sigs very well or easily. A better solution would be to get an interface for MMTTY soon in DX4Win like Writelog does but for now I'm all set. Hope this info helps someone else. 73, Larry Alkoff N2LA Larry Alkoff N2LA - Austin TX

[Dx4win] new version
A quick download, and v6.04 is up and running. Checking it out now, looks pretty familiar. I wonder what changed (besides the obvious). I do wish that this program supported the Elecraft K2, especially this rig's very useful serial-port streaming CW function. There are now nearly 5,000 K2 rigs out there. That's more than the total of several other DX4WIN supported radios - combined. Since DX4WIN already sports a CW terminal function, and already connects to the radio's serial port ... well, I'm not a programmer, but it seems like it wouldn't be much of a stretch to add this clever and valuable feature. Perhaps in a future revision ... for now, the subset of functionality offered by the Kenwood 850 setting will suffice. 73 Steve KZ1X/4

The rolling button can be pressed down and moved left and right for example. Btw, the double click is assigned already; it switched to adding real-time and enters the QSO. [Dx4win] Importing and using GOLIST DX Alert Calendar with DX4WIN 6.04
Here are the instructions for importing and using the GOLIST DX Calendar with DX4WIN 6.04. Remember you must have an active GOLIST account to download the calendar. First, download the current calendar from: http://www.golist.net/download.htm After logging in, look for the link called: DX ALERT in delimited form for DX4WIN CALENDAR Download the file from that link and save to a file. The fist line will look something like: 1/1/05 0:00:00,2/20/05 0:00:00,Cambodia,XU7POS,ON6TZ, To import into DX4WIN, go to the main program menu then File - Calendar. When that window pops up, use the option: File - Import Data mm/dd/ Navigate to the calendar file you downloaded. If successful, the Today tab should show the events in the calendar. To navigate by date, put the cursor in the Date field and use the up/down arrows to go forward or backward in time. When closing the window, make sure to File - Save Changes and Exit When you restart DX4WIN the next time, the calender will pop up, reminding you of upcoming events. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.us

[Dx4win] 6.04 - search in state field
This feature is not mentioned in the 6.04 release notes, but Paul added it for me. When using F8, you can now enter * (without the quotes) in the state field to search for any QSO where the state field is filled in, or !* to search for any QSO where the state field is empty. This search string worked in other fields, but it was previously missing for the state. Of course searching the state field can be used in combination with any other field. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.us
