[Dx4win] CW RTTY

2007-01-10 Thread Richard Zalewski
Can CW and RTTY co-exist peacefully on the same com port in DX4Win? I
have tried and seem to have difficulty. I can get the CW to work fine
on Com 2 but opening MMTTY window either gives me a Com 2 error or it
receives fine but does not transmit. If I open MMTTY out of DX4Win it
works fine as evidenced during the RU this weekend.

I have recently noticed some changes, additions and deletions, to the files
in my Save folder of Vers. 7.02. There were 2 files which I considered as
important to the integrity of the programme. They are: VE7IU.~xl and
VE7IU.dxl. In my operating log the file VE7IU.dxl is missing and files
VE7IU.DXN and VE7IU.DXQ have been added.
My latest backup files include VE7IU.~xl, VE7IU.dxl, VE7IU.DXN and
VE7IU.DXQ. Can anyone tell me what may have happened here before I attempt
to correct by deleting and adding files? Otherwise, the programme appears
to be working OK.

Best wishes for a Happy New Year to all.

Under the Window menu choose Master Calls. It will give an error box if
no dx4win.mas file. Click OK. Then you get a MasterLookup box. Right
click in that box and choose convert. Select the master.dta file you

Setting the import mode to sets upl conf flag only should NOT erase

I'm also having problems getting MMTTY to work with DX4Win. According to
 the

 message.
When I try it, it doesn't key the transmitter but does que the message so
 when I
hit F11, the transmitter keys and the message goes out. Am I missing a
 special

 couldn't find
anything in the help file that would give me a clue.

[Dx4win] MMTTY and DX4Win Not Working

2006-02-09 Thread Richard Zalewski
I have had lots of suggestions but still no prize. Here are the conditions.

1..Running XP Pro with all updates
2. MMTTY runs fine stand alone
3. MMTTY runs fine in Writelog
4. MMTTY will not run in DX4Win 7.0.1. Why? When open the MMTTY
window I get the terminal window. No action of any kind in the
receive pane. I also get the RTTY Control panel in the sys tray.
There is no way I am able to maximize that window so I can get to the
controls. It is NOT hidden behind another window. It is NOT on
another monitor. But I don't know where it is? Any ideas anyone?

Is there something new in 7.01 requiring some additional change before I can

[Dx4win] Import LOTW QSL file

2006-01-24 Thread Richard Zalewski
Still having some difficulty getting what I want from the adif file from LOTW.

1. I start with a file containing a QSO that does not have a State indicated.
2. The file does not have an Upload Confirm flag.

What I want to get from the LOTW file:
1. The State
2. The Confirm flag

I have checked the LOTW adif file and state is indicated correctly.
So if I import that file into the existing file the state and other
stuff update fine if I set the duplicate handling to imported QSO
replaces existing. This is great but it does not set the confirmed
flag.

So I run the LOTW file again and say Imported QSO sets upload
confirmed flag. It sets the flag but then erases the state info.

Either I am processing this incorrectly or we need more flexibility in
importing fields into the data base.

Short answer: you can't import extra data from the LoTW report file. Paul
may add this in a future version.

If you use the New QSO over-writes existing you should get the extra data,
but you might lose other info you logged with the QSO.

Only the first option you tried will set the confirmed flag. The overwrites
existing option is generic for ADIF files (i.e. importing from contest logging
software), so in general you do NOT want this changing confirmation flags.

Dick,

Before you import your ADIF file use a text editor to search replace
whatever field name the state is in (maybe EXCHANGE or whatever Writelog
puts it in) to STATE. Then it will import correctly into the state
field in DX4WIN. I think you can do even do that if it is the section
instead of the state in the ADIF file and DX4WIN will convert the
section to the correct state.

For example, in the ARRL RTTY N1MM put the state in a field called
EXCHANGE1:

EXCHANGE1:2KS

Just search for EXCHANGE1 and replace it with STATE.

[Dx4win] Import Update LOTW

When I have downloaded my confirmed QSO file from LOTW it has updated

01/01/1901 is a special date indicating an empty date field.

Are you using DX4WIN 6.04? If so there is no need for a date filter the second

- Set Upload Flags
- Export for LoTW

You'll only get the QSOs since the last upload.

Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I exported my entire DX4Win log file (9002 QSOs) to an ADIF file and
then uploaded it as a TQ8 file to LoTW

I then went back to DX4Win, set a date filter that covered the entire
log to mark as uploaded. DX4Win only tagged 85xx QSO's (I forget the
exact amount).

What did I do wrong? I did *not* set the group filter, only the date
filter.

[Dx4win] Upload to LotW

2005-03-20 Thread Richard Zalewski
Sounds like you might have a filter active. Also I went through
almost the same process just days ago. Let the file go with the
errors. You will get an exception report and then you can submit a
subsequent file for the repaired items.

DX4Windows doesn't explain why it won't create a file for me. All of the
upload flags are marked Y. Here is a little history.

I created an ADIF file but it had an error in it that I didn't realize
existed. When I was signing the file with TQsl it flagged the error which
was PSK and should have been CW. Then I tried to fix it but TQSL didn't
 like the fix.

I then erased the file and went back to DX4Windows and fixed the QSO that
was in error. I then tried to create another LOTW export and it won't go.
All I did was change a QSO from PSK mode to CW mone and now DX4Windows
won't export the file for LOTW. I have NO idea why DX4Windows won't export
these QSOs. It did it the first time but it wont do it again.

 Any ideas?

Once you export, you can't export the same QSOs again.

Try QSO - Multiple QSO Operations - Set Upload Date. I don't know what
date to try to wipe out the existing date, unfortunately.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN ICON

2005-03-12 Thread Richard Zalewski
Try right clicking on the destop icon and go to properties. From
there in the lower right select new icon and then go to dx4win folder
and select the .ico file.

Hi guys you have all been great!!!

A couple more questions!!

After upgrading I now get the Events calendar popping up each time I open
the program. Its great but can I stop it from opening???

Also I now get an error when I open up that says ie_Open-device already
open What does that mean???

Also when fixing the missing ICON problem I discovered that DX4WIN is not
listed in my PROGRAM LIST in Windows XP is there a reason???

And finally I have always wondered about this one! What is the difference in
the Long Path and Reciprocal headings in the Sunset and Sunrise window??? I
always thought that Long Path was the Reciprocal of the Heading!

Tnx again Guys

[Dx4win] WISH- Log write

2005-03-03 Thread Richard Zalewski
I did set the backup to 1 but there must be some additional setting(s)
required. I do not see that it is doing a write.

In just playing around dxing is when I use writelog to be my logger.
Otherwise I use contest program and then import those logs when it is
all over

 Dick,

While not quite what you're asking for, go to Preferences -- QSO and set
the auto-backup to 1 minute. Whenever you modify your log in any way, a 60
second timer starts, and an auto-save will happen at 0 time. That appears
to be the lowest valid number. Zero apparently turns off auto-saves, and it
 won't take fractions, e.g. 0.5. Unless you're operating a contest (so why
would you be logging in DX4Win?), you won't lose many Qs.

A wish I would have for an improvement would be that when a qso is
logged it is written to the file and not have to wait until you do a
manual save. Lost a few q's the other day. Sure it is operator error
but why not do the write immediately?

OK. I finally got around to making a few Qs with PSK31. Pretty cool. But,
it's like pulling teeth. Stories I've heard make it sound much easier than
what I'm experiencing.

I would appreciate hearing any tips on using PSk31 with DX4WIN, including
settings for calling CQ, SP, etc. It's gotta be easier than this.

I am having the strangest problem all of a sudden. Any mail that I send
out
goes to the correct owner all except for one's that go through a reflector
or directly back to myself, in which case they never show up in my inbox.
This has had me scratching my head for several days now and basically run
out of ideas? anyone got any suggestions? Thanks 73's Cort
