Can I use the MORTTY with MMTY, DX4Win and the K3S? Better options?

how do I want to setup the radio to KEY CW via USA (communications)?

Any other tips/tricks to setting up the K3S in DX4Win?

Re: [Dx4win] Importing WXJT-X ADI file into DX4WIN V9?

2018-04-04 Thread William Liporace
From his email:
I got tired of navigating to the WSJT-X directory every time I wanted
to import my WSJT-X log into DX4WIN. Fortunately, Windows 10 has a
solution. The idea is to create a symbolic link in your SAVE
directory that points to the WSJT-X log directory. The full
instructions for creating symbolic links are here:

https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16226/complete-guide-to-
symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/

Here's the quick start:

1. Start by opening a Command Prompt in Administrator mode. From the
Start menu, find "Windows System" and right-click on "Command Prompt'.
Follow the "More" link and then click "Run as Administrator".

2. Determine the location of your WSJT-X log directory. Here is one way:

cd %localappdata%
C:
dir

You should see a WSJT-X directory there. The full path should
look something like this:

C:\Users\jjrei\AppData\Local\WSJT-X

3. Now determine the location of your DX4WIN SAVE directory. Mine is here:

E:\dx4w903\save

4. "cd" into your DX4WIN save directory:

cd E:\dx4w903\save
E:

5. Finally, create the link. Here is the command I used:

E:\dx4w903\save> mklink /D WSJT-X C:\Users\jjrei\AppData\Local\WSJT-X

(do not type the part *before* the >, only the part beginning with
"mklink"

That's all there is to it. The next time you want to import using
"File | Import", you will see the WSJT-X link in your SAVE directory.
Double-click on that link, and you'll find your WSJT-X ADIF file
there.

This is not limited to WSJT-X, you can create links to anything you want.

OK, I went to help & contents to read the portion that I wanted. I get the
QSOs not in log, but the view I had more then the four in the display! Do I
have to go through all of it to find them? It would be nice to have the
ability to sort or filter.

One of the issues is to see the conflicts. I was told there was over 100

[Dx4win] Multiple Calls - LOTW - QSLing

2018-01-20 Thread William Liporace
OK, I guess I am missing something and have tried following the info here:
http://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/nr7.html

It appears that two of my group filters may work, but one does not. I want
to be able to filter my log so I can sign and upload the correct info.

So I have created three Groups - One for each call
000 - WC2L
001 - NA2NA
002 - KB2HUN

Under Selection Editor I created three Selections
000 - WC2L-QSL
001 - NA2NA-QSL
002 - KB2HUN-QSL
They are all Group/Date filters The WC2L & KB2HUN appear to work, The
NA2NA does not. They are all configured what I think is right. I have not
tested any of them.

Ideas and Suggestions??

[Dx4win] LOTW - DXCC QSL Download

2017-11-28 Thread William Liporace
I did a LOTW DXCC QSL Download. I ended up with a whole bunch of not found
in log. I picked one of the rarer calls and did a search in my log. Not
sure why it was mark not in log. I did notice that the not found log didn't
have any times. Call, date, band and mode were all correct.

Is there an easy fix?
How do I resolve all of the errors?

[Dx4win] Digital Mode Configuration Help Needed

2017-11-01 Thread William Liporace
I thought it was my Navigator that was having issues.. It is more than
likely a configuration issues. I have installed the 9.02 version already
tonight...

So I am using the US/Timewave Navigator (same device).
Com 4 - CAT control
Com 5 - PTT
Com 6 - WinKey
Com 7 - PSK
Com 8 - RS-232 comport on the Navigator

In DX4Win
Radio tab
Only one radio - FTdx5000 - no issues

Control tab
Rotor - Green Heron - Com 3
PSK Sound Card
Input/output - Navigator RX/TX

CW Tab
Device - Winkey
External Keyer - Com 6
Cw/PTT - none

RTTY tab
Type - none
MMTTY - Path set to C:\Ham\MMTTY\MMTTY.EXE

It appears that I can't ge-+t PSK to work. There is NO function keys.
RTTY works via MMTTY
CW is working

For PSK and the FTdx5000, the radio needs to be in Packet Mode. I can hear
the tones from monitor, but I don't see any RF going out.

Any ideas or suggestions??

So the big thing is all of the errors on the import:

20 Country Exceptions
4264 errors were found (one that bothers me the most).

Hi Dave,

Don't assign a group number to QRP QSOs. Just check the QRP box. I
think it automatically becomes group number 254 or 255.

F8 filters do not affect DXCC status. You must create a Group Filter
(See Filter - Selection), name it QRP (or something else), check the
QRP box at the bottom, then update and save.

DX4WIN clears ALL filters when you re-open the log. All you need to do
then is Filter - Selection, pick your QRP filter name from the
drop-down box at the top, then OK.

[Dx4win] Logbook Frustration!

2008-02-10 Thread William Liporace - WC2L
I have recently done a LOTW a card submission to the league. I got my
original DXCC in sync with DX4Win. I did a LOTW submission and again made sure
that the LOTW and DX4WIN matched. FYI, much of this was with great help from
AD1C and his checking utility!

I then did a card submission to the league in person. It was only 85 cards. I
now took the paper print out from the league and the listing from the DX4WIN
and was trying to make sure that every thing was OK.

Here is what I am seeing as a reference:
DXCC Report:
3B9 Mixed, Phone, CW, 40, 30, 20
DX4Win:
Mixed, CW, 20

I looked at my QSOs for 3B9 and I see that the QSOs for Phone, 40 30 were
marked as Checked. I am finding this VERY frustrating. I did do the card
submission and got a few duplicate replies from the league. I am guessing
this is for a few reasons... Before I go totally ballistic, How do I fix the
problem??

Will, there are three separate award flags per QSO - one each for DXCC
Mixed, Band and Mode.

Are the DXCC Band flags set to Checked for your 30 and 40 meter QSOs,
or are the wrong flags (mixed and/or mode) checked instead?

Tom N3EQF helped me. These files are from the DOS version, and can be

 Good Evening,
I have been going nuts! After being inactive for a couple of years, I
have decided to get up to date and get my logs and LOTW in sync. I had
cleared all of the flags, got DX4WIN to match LOTW, saved the log. I
 happen to work a station.
I went to check my logs after uploading them to LOTW and discovered that
the Listing/Summary/LOTW are out of sync. I am short one band country,
CW, and 10 meter QSO (same Q). I have counted the CW and countries listed
in DX4WIN. They are correct in the list, but wrong in the summary.
I can not seem to figure out how/why they are out of sync. I left the
logs for a couple of days after a family emergency and came back to them
tonight. I have spent a few hours combing over them. I had printed the
html LOTW listing and the DX4WIN listings. Too bad DX4WIN does not do it
 like the league!!

 Any ways:
Why do they get out of sync?
How do you get them all sync'd up?

After I get them in sync, when is the best time to buy LOTW QSOs?
I want to get all I can via LOTW then do another submission via paper. I
am guessing I will go through a lot of band/mode/country credits

Typically, when you use a USB to serial interface, the software sets up a

There is still a spot for 10x numbers, but the location changed several

If you can't see the Custom Award field, press the F5 key repeatedly

To enter a TenTen (the name of the award in the drop-down menu) number,

Guy,

I am sorry, but I must disagree with your suggestion that the solution to
the parallel port driver problem is that new computer owners must dismantle
their Dells and Gateways and Compaqs, replacing their new motherboards and
USB ports with 10 year old ISA technology and hard-coded LPT ports.

Do not try and disguise this software problem with a cheap hardware fix' -
that is just asking for trouble. You're swimming upstream against the
strategic product directions of Intel, Microsoft, and the BIOS vendors. The
correct solution to the parallel port problem is that software developers
(we're talking about DX4WIN, ARSWin, TopTen Devices, WaveNode technologies
here...) must revamp their programs to become compliant with the new
hardware and operating system architectures. This means that they must use
new compilers, new I/O utilities, and deliver new releases of their
programs.

Unless/until that happens, the customers of these vendors are the ones who
will suffer, because they are purchasing products that cannot possibly work
on the latest hardware and software platforms.

Unless, of course, you intend to make the ridiculous suggestion that hams
should purchase the latest and greatest ham radio technology with the
understanding that it will only work properly on 10-year-old hardware and
5-year-old operating systems. ;-)

 All:

I continue to have telnet connection problems with DX4WIN. For some
reason, the connection (to DX4WIN) goes to sleep after anywhere from 20
minutes to 2-1/2 hours. I have tried keeping my connection alive by
utilizing other program pinging techniques, but that has not resolved the
issue (if I constantly do a sh/dx or other command the DX4WIN spotting
connection does not fault).

I note that the Beta Logger 32 by K4CY has a keep alive feature built into
the telnet spotting feature. I can stay connected forever using this
program -- even without user intervention, so I know it is not my internet
connection that fails.

Am I missing anything in DX4WIN that can mitigate my problem?

To see if telnet is working from your PC got to a command prompt. At the

If that is working, create an entry in DX4Win for my node and then try to

 Hello All,

Installed 6.01 on a computer with XP operating system.

 Few of observations.

I like the Alt+S save feature in Version 5.03, and I believe that it
should
be available in version 6.01, but when I enter a contact in 6.01, and then
use the Alt+S keystrokes, DX4WIN closes. The whole program closes, not
just
my log file. I loaded version 6.01 onto a computer running Windows ME, and
I can use the Alt+S feature just fine. Anyone else running 6.01 on XP and
 having the same problem?

Also, I have set the map options to Show Spot Country, but I'm not
seeing
the spot countries prefix or the country being highlighted on the map as
spots roll by on the cluster. Again, just me, or is there a problem?

Lastly, and I noticed this on both ME and XP, when I merged my .cty files,
there were quite a few contacts that had to be cleaned up to get my
country
counts correct to what I had in version 5.03. FO prefixes, 3X0C/LU, VK9's,
some of my K5K contacts, some of my K1B contacts, some FR stuff, VP6DI
contacts, etc., had to be cleaned up. Might not be a bad idea to check up
on contacts with multi country prefixes.

[Dx4win] Printing on the back of cards

2003-01-11 Thread William Liporace - NA2NA
Good Morning Everyone,
I have gotten a few emails on how I get my QSLs to print on the back of my
QSL cards and what kind of printer do I use, and a host of other questions.
Hopefully I will answer all of you questions. Just as an update, there is a
few of us in the area that are doing the same thing.
To keep it simple, I hopehere we go:
First I went to the printing properties of my printer. I created a paper
size of 3.25x5.29 and call it QSL Cards. This will define my QSL Card
Stock. Our local club gets cards printed up (Basically a standard QSL
Card). The last time, I had 10,000 cards printed up. Hopefully we do not
move too soon :-)
I then select this paper type in the printer as my current default. The main
reason I do this is to make sure that it is what I want for printing. For
FYI... I prefer a inexpensive laser printer for my printing. I use a Okidata
Okipage 8w. I just can not see paying the $$ for ink cartridges. I think my
last two laser cartridges were about $18 ea (not too bad).
Then select the custom card setting in DX4WIN. I modify the Custom 1 for my
QSL Card. I set it the same 3.25x5.29 and then I set the pitch to be 3x5
(this is just to keep a border on it). Then I select print cards.

There is a lot of guys who have Epson and HP printers and love this method.
I believe some of them use the tray to feed them. I use the manual feed.
Once I start, all I do is feed it the next card and keep on trucking. I can
print a lot of QSO at once. Typically what I do is wait till after a contest
season and print all of the QSOs for the season on one card. If I work a
station on 5 bands for two contests and say 3 bands on two other contests,
ALL of the QSOs will fit one card.

This took a bit of setting up, but this should make it real easy for most
everyone to get it up and rolling. Please let me know if this helps. I will
try to answer any questions I can. it may be tough to answer specific
questions, but I what the heck..

because I can be working on something else in the room and assuming that the
DX3WIN talker is giving me anything new that I need and there isn't
anything, but what I discover is that I was disconnected 30 minutes ago.

I have looked and don't think that this capability is in the manual, but I
wanted to ask...

Is there a way that I can have DX4WIN ping the site every x number of
minutes and if it is not connected to run a new connect script
automatically? IF that is not in there, any chances/plans to put it in the

OK maybe I am missing something still (more than likely) I have a
Yaesu
FT-1000D configured to work with DX4WIN. That works fine. I have tried $$
and $$ in the Note for this QSO window with out any success. Is there
something else that I need to do? I do not see any settings in the
preferences... Is there any other place to do it? I work a few people this
 morning to try it...

You only put the $$ in the program one time and then it automatically
records the exact frequency of each qso after that.

It seems crazy that you have to put the $$ in every QSO... How do you
 import
  it from a contest?

[Dx4win] Frequency entry in DX4WIN

2002-12-08 Thread William Liporace - NA2NA
Sorry folks.. I thought it was sent to all...here were the two better
responses

Add the $$ to the pulldown box that opens when you click on QSO and then
Contest Mode where it says Text to add to QSO note

Click on QSO and click on Contest Mode and then enter $$ in the window that
pops up. That will take care of the problem. Works great with my FT-1000MP
and shows both xmit and receive freq.

[Dx4win] CW keyboard question

2002-12-03 Thread William Liporace - NA2NA
I have seen a lot of messages, but yes DX4WIN does support serial
keying

File | Preferences
Radio Tab, CW Keyer and chose either DTR or RTS on radio port. This depends
on the radio interface that you use and what pins are being used on the
interface (look at the schematics)

Subject: [Dx4win] CW keyboard question

After using DX4WIN for almost 10 years, I just got the urge to try the
CW keyboard for the first time. To my chagrin, I find there is no choice
of serial ports - it only uses the same COM port as the radio. This is the
case in my version 4.07. Do the newer versions of DX4WIN support
COM port selection for CW keying?
 Tnx,
 Barry

[Dx4win] Staying Connected to TELNET

2002-11-05 Thread William Liporace - NA2NA
There are many different node softwares and each node is slightly different.
I have had no complaints from users at my node getting dropped. I run a
DXSpider Node. The node is an open node, please login and give it a try.
the address is: NA2NA.HOMEDNS.ORG

Any questions, do not hesitate to ask 73 Will NA2NA

Subject: [Dx4win] Staying Connected to TELNET

Is there anyone out there that has a hard time staying connected to
TELNET.
I have a high speed cable connection that works great for the Internet. No
 problems!
When connecting to a DX cluster via TELNET (with DX4WIN) and the activity
is
somewhat slow, I seem to get disconnected. During peak times such as
contests I stay connected just fine. I understand there is a so called
keep
alive option either in DX4WIN or some other outside source. The idea is
to
keep the traffic moving. If windows isn't seeing any traffic from you,
(some
ISP's as well.) disconnect you so others can use the IP you were on. Is
there a setting in DX4WIN using the TCP/IP setting with this so called
keep
alive feature? Please advise. TNX, 73 STU

[Dx4win] Staying Connected to TELNET

2002-11-05 Thread William Liporace - NA2NA
I have to agree with Jim, before I created my node, I was rarely ever booted
off (dial up days). Of course now, I am never booted off. Of course today
there has been two new users who I believe have been connected all day. They
other is on almost always connected anyways

Anyone is welcome to na2na.homedns.org node

Are you guys on nodes with very little traffic?

I can connect to W1GQ, KE9KD and K8SMC (also N2TX before it moved) for
days at
a time, and I'm not actively pinging the connection. In fact, I have two
computers connected to two different nodes while I'm at work all day (one
wired, one wireless). The only time I lose a connection is if the remote
node
goes down, or something happens to my router or cable modem. Using ATT
 Broadband Internet.

I don't filter out much besides the stuff above 2 meters. I like to see
spots
 from all over the world.
