True Angela, thanks for the correction. In truth they do indeed only
have themselves to blame but it is unlikely that you will be able
to get the majority of the people in the world to accept this.

Merry Christmas!

Actually, that's still playing the game of:
  denial of self responsibility
  blaming others
and is still a lie.

Ultimately we are each solely responsible for our choices and
all consequeneces of those choices.

I got burned on a scam, and what I reported to e-gold list was
who was doing the burn so others wouldn't get burned, but I
never blamed anyone else. I notified the ISP service publishing
the fraudulent website and got it taken down so no one else
would get burned, but I and I alone took responsibility for
letting myself get burned.

As a sovereign, my absolute freedom comes at a cost, and that cost is
absolute self responsibility. That doesn't mean I've stopped trying to
track down who committed the fraud and recover my e-gold, but then here
too, it's my responsibility. Nothing less than absolute self
responsibility will ever be the truth, no matter how much we don't like
it.

Anyone who has been burned in a Ponzi needs to look at their own greed.

In my case I got so attached to quickly getting an offshore debit card
that I failed to bother to fully investigate, or to have the patience to
do so, I failed to use my psychic tools to investigate it, and I didn't
research it better in the physical or virtual worlds either... I so much
wanted it to be real, became so attached to my agenda, that I got
burned. Being responsible for that does not negate the theft of my
money, nor my right to retrieve it. A fraud was still committed, but I
and I alone am responsible that I fell for it. The perpetrator of the
fraud still owes me money, and I will proceed to attempt to collect, and
it will probably get messy...

2000-12-24 Thread Sidd

Hi Bob,

Stupid is as stupid does I say;

It is really sad that people who get taken for a ride by ponzi schemes
like this blame the people around them instead of the perpetrators of
the scheme. That's one of the reasons these ponzi schemes are illegal,
they can cause all kinds of social troubles, broken families etc. as
well as financial ruin.

I am really sorry for all the people who got burned by this one, and I
am also sorry that the inevitable had to happen at Christmas time.
Hopefully, you will soon direct your anger at the people who have
caused you this pain, and perhaps you will be able to get some kind of
justice.

Best regards Bob,

Sidd.

PS I am not an American (thank heavens) and have NO involvement with
e-biz and therefore have absolutely NO power OR inclination to get the
FBI involved. I think you got the wrong guy.

PPS Unsubscribe instructions for this list are on the bottom of the

Part of the new upgrade includes a new secure payment method for Australians,

For all purchases up to and including 1500USD the rate is now only 9%
NO bank fees. Over 1500USD the rate is 6%. (For 10,000USD and

well for gold purchases! Our minimum transaction however is still only 50USD. We
look after the small folk here!

[e-gold-list] Re: another way for Standard Reserve "e-gold "to market itself...

2000-12-24 Thread Elwyn Jenkins

Standard Reserve is one of the biggest users of E-Gold and so has a key
objective in making its activity known on the E-Gold Discussion list.

What Standard Reserve does is extend the E-Gold activity to provide a
range of services that have not been able to be offered before.

There are major differences between E-Gold as a currency and Standard Gold
as a currency.

You should read my article that was posted today on "www.goldeconomy.com"
to see what we consider those differences are and what Standard Reserve
brings to the world of E-Gold users.

[e-gold-list] Virus (was Re: Suggestion......

2000-12-24 Thread George Matyjewicz

Hey all:

That virus is a beaut. I just got it on another machine, but
McAfee caught it before any damage. It attaches itself to
outbound e-messages and when it is opened on another machine,
it destroys dll and exe files. My wife's machine got
clobbered. The attachment came from a co-worker, so she had no
reason to doubt opening it.I got one from my sister and it
said "Sorry_about_yesterday.DOC.pif "

Here's some details from another list:

Sounds like it could be an especially nasty bugger called
"W95.MTX" which is both a virus and worm in one. It's also known
as Win95.Mtx, W32/MTX@mm, W32/Apology, W32/MTX and I-Worm.MTX.

While I can't find any references to it travelling as
"I-M-Sorry", it has been spread via attachments (PIF files,
actually) named "I_am_sorry", which is close enough.

It does go after executables, and it can make it impossible to
run Windows normally.

Symantec has detailed info on dealing with this one:
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w95.mtx.html

In order for micropayments to work, you need businesses willing
to accept them, i.e., a site who charges by pageviews, or
somebody who charges for time, or a download of music,
etc. While the **capability** may be there, you need it implemented.

Stay tuned.

2000-12-24 Thread Vince Callaway

You should feel lucky, one list I am on someone posted a virus to. That
in itself was not too bad, but someone on the list setup a vacation
message, so it responded to the virus, then to itself and of course the 20
messages telling everyone about the virus and then it responded to itself
for every one of the 20 responses it made about the virus warning.

I had almost 300 messages before the list admin shut it down. This from a
list that gets 1 posting every couple of months.

I really did not care that this guy would be out of the office untl after
christmas.

I have been told that e-gold has been doing
micropayments since the beginning.
What is the big deal with Standard Reserve "
implementing" this?

I have some Pokemon Cards and old National Geographic

I have some dirty laundry that needs to be washed.
Would you prefer Standard Reserve or e-gold in payment
to do it for me?

Should we change the name of this list to Standard
e-gold bay?

Hi Al:

That's not a good idea. Rather, why don't you post something
that will be of interest to all?

I subscribe to approx 130 discussion lists in addition to owning
13 of my own (yes I'm a list junkie, but in remission ;-). What
I have found with lists, as with everything else in life, is
there are some who participate, some who lurk, some who
occasionally ask for help (and get answers), some who complain,
some who everybody listens to when they post, and of course,
some PITAs. And, as with life in general, not everybody's
actions pleases everybody else.

However, like with any community, folks are there when you need
them. My wife got hit with a terrible computer virus on Friday
(don't ask) and, after trying to get answers from the anti-virus
sites to no avail, I posted a help note to one of my lists, and
immediately had an answer. And anytime anybody needs my help on
one of those lists, they get it immediately.

And yes, we often have to put up with posts that we don't like,
which are OK. But I have never, ever found anything that is as
beneficial as a discussion list.

So Al, I strongly urge you to hang in there, delete those posts
that are of little interest, respond to those that you can
respond to, and become a productive member of our
community. You will definitely benefit in the long run.

Happy holidays.

George
