[e-gold-list] Re: Pecunix News

2001-07-24 Thread F. Marc de Piolenc

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but all value is perception, as
there is no value without a valu-er. So if you say that the [capital]
market value of a stock does not reflect the value of the enterprise,
you are talking nonsense, because the market is the ONLY forum where
people and institutions are able to bid from day to day for equity in
the enterprise.

Nobody who is not willing to plunk down shekels has standing to decide
what a company is worth!

I must also object here jim. It is not uncommon for more then two discussions to be
happenning at the same time on the list. Aside from that, it is also not uncommon for
people to go back and forth on an issue, the recent debate of Pecunix is an example.
The only thing that I see a quota doing is limiting discussion which ironically
contradicts the idea of a discussion list. Am I wrong here?

[e-gold-list] why margin rocks

2001-07-24 Thread jpm

Bob, I share your enthusiasm for bamdex.com!

If this message makes it to the egold list under siege

... I have made right on 3 grams on a 60 grams base - I guess that's
right on 5% profit so far (in what about a month?)

(Probably more luck that trading, since I was mainly screwing around
with the system.) (Which says something about trading :) )

MARGIN ROCKS!

Imagine being able to trade USD $10,000 worth of USD's for only 5
grams of gold.

When will the first 'fund' open where someone will accept gold, and
then trade it on the bamdex.com trying to make a profit?!

(More liquidity would be needed first of course.)

http://www.bamdex.com .. members can hedge or trade with the IFGETD
contract right now. What a world! All due to e-gold

[e-gold-list] Praise for Gaithmans and revision of my thoughts on e-gold commerce

2001-07-24 Thread Paul Ewing

Well, I'll use my second message today to praise Gaithmans Gold Nation.

I had my first dealing with a Market Maker yesterday afternoon and it went
great. I was able to do a cash deposit and get my e-gold account funded
this morning.

I'll also include this bit so I will still have a message to reply to
something else today:

e-gold e-Commerce

My experience with Gaithmans helps soothe one of my biggest problems with
e-gold or any of the GBC that I have seen for e-commerce, which is the
delay and expense of funding an account. It is harder to sell to a new
customer if they can't complete the purchase in one logical step. It is
similar to the problem with PayPal where the user checks out, but then has
to set up another account and fill in the same information and more just to
pay. The figures that I have heard is that 50% of shoppers will abandon
their carts when they have to set up a PayPal account to pay for their
purchase. I would assume that the percentage is higher for e-gold since
there is much more time and expense involved in the setup and funding of an
account.

If Market Makers can fund accounts in a day or two at most there is still
the chance of getting impulse shoppers, but until then the GBC commerce
uses are limited to people who already have funded accounts. Hopefully the
European MM's and others that offer direct cash deposits also offer as good
of service as Gaithmans. If so I might be able to point some of my
European customers to them instead of bothering with bank wires and such.

Cheers,
Paul Ewing

I don't think the USA is much different from any other major country in

that regard. The reason I left Australia was for tax reasons. I loved it
there, but I only stayed 21 days of one tax year and 176 days of the next
tax year. If I had stayed more than six months in a single tax year, 1
July to 30 June, would have been taxed at their outrageous rates on all of
my income worldwide. Even though my main salary was paid by my US company
to me in my US bank accounts. They would even have taxed my personal
businesses that were not even active in Australia.

Not that I don't still like the country. It is on the top of my list of
places to expat to if I do get fed up with the US or decide to retire. In
fact I have a standing invitation to come work for the group I was assigned
to while I was then.

It is definitely very interesting. I've been watching them for a while.
The transaction fee for the anonymous certs is a bit high (total 10% - 5%
payer & 5% payee), but understandable since they are currently just
testing the system. Hopefully, this test will have a good run and give
them a reason to lower the transaction fee (i.e. much higher transaction
volume).

[e-gold-list] Re: eCoin.net Forwarded Message for this e-gold list

2001-07-24 Thread James M. Ray

Hi all.

Due to popular demand, I've relaxed list posting rules to "3" from "2". Thanks
for all the feedback (and please keep it coming). I really hope that these new
rules lead to more-thoughtful (albeit perhaps less-frequent) postings, and I'm
going to abide by my own limits of course, so I'll address a few subjects in a
single message.

I think this ecoin thing is _VERY_ cool! http://www.ecoin.net/ is the URL, if
anyone didn't already guess from Hank's post. http://www.ecoin.net/what.htm
has a "what is ecoin" introduction. I've long-admired the DO-ers behind this
project, and it's people like that -- quietly working on cool stuff that involves
e-gold -- that make this job fun for me. They deserve to be Slashdotted for
this very nice job, IMO. ;^)

http://www.free-market.net/forums/e-gold0009/ has my personal opinion on
the initial resolution of the Parker Bradley s#!tstorm, for those who care (and
there's no meany-moderator limit on posting there). Luckily for me, I have a
variety of means of stress-relief available, so I don't think about it too much.

Finally (and thankfully) it looks like http://www.boycottadobe.com/ won before
they needed an e-gold tipjar (though they and all charity-sites still need one!).
It's still a good idea to click some gold to EFF, JPFO, and all the other early-
adopter charities you like that take e-gold, activism takes forever. Thanks.

Petty stuff like this really underscores how childish and pathetic most
government agents really are. It also kind of makes me think that they are
aware of the banality of their own lives, how they need to lash out and hurt
people to make themselves feel important, when in reality they are parasites
upon society. They don't build roads or houses, they don't write software or
make advances in medicine and they don't create new businesses that provide
jobs for people. They can only steal and destroy what others make, and they
love to wield that power because they know it is all their lives will ever
amount to.

Scratch a bully, find a coward.

[e-gold-list] Gold-Age SS-Raid Update 07/24/2001

2001-07-24 Thread Parker E.C. Bradley

For more info or to make a donation see http://www.gold-age/ldf/ldf.html

Update 07/24/2001: Tuesday last week (07/17/2001) the SS returned most
of the items they stole from us last March -- though we had to come pick
them up ourselves, and there are still some items missing. Some items of
note that they stole
and have not returned are as follows. We added these items and other
comments to the inventory receipt. Interestingly, they signed this
revised sheet... thus acknowledging the absence of these items. (The
revised "Certified Inventory of Personal Property" they signed, dated,
and marked with the "received - U.S. Secret Service" stamp.)

* Research notes & CD on HARP/Cannon Project. [These are
notes/contacts/schematics/CAD drawings, etc, and releated CD with
computer simulations involving a new launch system for low earth orbit.
This research is based on previous work by the late Dr. Gerald Bull and
his brilliant HARP program.]

* New York State Truck Title for my 93 Ford Ranger.
* Ayn Rand Anniverary Boxed set of Books [was to be a birthday gift
for my sister]
* Handful of quarters & misc. change. [We're SURE this will be
returned, ha, ha]
* Lug nuts from Joanna's car {An interesting little story there...
for later disclosure.]
* Set of inks for inkjet refill kit.

There may be other items missing as well, but it will be difficult if
not impossible to tell immediately, especially in regards to paperwork.

An interesting side note. On one of the tower computers that was
returned, I was locked out of the CMOS (apparently, they changed the
password -- I'll have to remove the internal battery and clear the
CMOS), and the system currently can't even boot because of hard disk
failure. (The other tower they stole was a new machine that I was in the
process of putting together, and didn't have much of significance on
it). The laptop has also been tampered with, too... aside from the legs
being broken off, I'm locked out of this machine as well; they changed
the CMOS password, but being a laptop it's not as simple a matter, as
with the tower, to reset the CMOS -- I'll have to get specs from HP
before I go taking this baby apart. In short it's going to take quite a
bit of time and effort to figure out if there is any data intact for me
to recover on either of these machines. This kind of destructive
data-mining was totally unecessary, since I gave them all the passwords
to the various systems they took.

[e-gold-list] Re: Pecunix News

2001-07-24 Thread Pecunix PR

Claude Comier has brought to our notice some inaccuracies in a promotional
document about the Pecunix share offer on the PVCSE web site . The Directors
of Pecunix would like to thank Claude for pointing these out.

The document was posted by an over zealous and inexperienced promotions
assistant and overlooked at the time.

The text has since been edited to reflect a more accurate presentation.

We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Regards,

Michael Moore
Pecunix PR
for the Board of Directors
Pecunix Venture Holdings Inc.

[e-gold-list] List rules (yes, I meant it)

Yup.

Everyone (even Jim Ray). Speaking of rude, you needn't call names
to make your point (and you'd probably make your points in a more
believable way if you didn't). Somehow, I think we can all survive on
2 messages a day. Those who tend to send more tend also to have
lower signal to noise ratios than those who don't. Want someone to
emulate? Try Joe Moorman of Magazinedepot. His messages come
only once, they have content, and don't excessively-quote others'
messages, and they have something to do with e-gold. Incredible,
but he proves it possible.

I said some folks wouldn't like me. I'm sure some folks won't like
this rule, and you're welcome to appeal it -- on or off the list -- but I
make the rules now, and that's my rule, so we're all gonna have to
deal with it until or unless my mind changes. Thanks.
JMR

* PS those who abuse this rule by subscribing twice will regret it.
Try talking less or shutting up, that works better believe me, and
you don't want to get on my bad side...
